Twenty five – Skye aged 9
Dear Diary,
I leave today. I am sad. It's weird. I should be really happy to be moving in with Rhydian, and I am but I'm also really sad to be leaving my friends. Although it's already been agreed that I'll still get picked up from school by Mike and May-Li because of Rhydian having to stay at school longer than me. And we've already arranged a day for Harry and the twins to come over to play.
But I'm definitely not going to be able to pull the wool over Rhydian's eyes and claim I have no homework. I mean, he sets it. So of course he knows about it.
Write soon,
Skye
I take my bumblebee bag and case downstairs with me and place them at the foot of the stairs. I head into the living room where everyone is gathered. "You all packed and ready then?" Mike asked. I nod.
I hug each person in turn and say goodbye before turning to Harry and Ryan. "You two have been the best people in here to me. So thank you. I won't ever forget your kindness or you, mainly because I will be back," I say.
"Yeah every weekday," Ryan says sarcastically before laughing. "No, good on you Skye. You deserve a bit of happiness in your life." I hug him tightly before turning to Harry, who looks as though he is about to cry.
"You'll see me at school every day. You'll see me here every day. Nothing changes except where I sleep and eat," I told him gently. He nods and we share a hug.
"I guess I'll see you at school tomorrow then Skye," he said. I nod and walk towards Rhydian. "Bye Skye. Bye Mr Walker."
"Harry, when it's out of school please call me Rhydian, I hate Mr Walker," Rhydian said. Harry smiled weakly as we began walking to the door. At the door I turned and waved. "Oh and remember I need your maths homework tomorrow," he added. I rolled my eyes and pushed him out the door.
"Just leave," I said. Harry laughed and gave me one more hug. "I'll see you tomorrow." I say before leaving and getting in the car and driving away from one of the best years of my life.
THE END
