Chapter 25

The weekend had passed with a lot of tears. Ivy was slowly coming to terms with the fact her Mum wasn't coming back, but obviously she was still very upset. Rachel thought better of it than to send her to school on Monday, so decided to keep her off with her.

"Do you fancy getting out somewhere today?" Rachel asked Ivy as they were sat at the table eating their breakfast and Ivy nodded.

"Where are we going to go?"

"Well I was thinking we could go shopping and get some stuff to decorate your bedroom and maybe go for a walk somewhere as well to get a bit of fresh air. How does that sound?"

"That sounds good"

Rachel carried the twins upstairs into her bedroom and Ivy followed her up.

"I'll just have a shower. Do you think you could watch the twins for me?" Rachel asked the little girl knowing it would make her feel important by giving her a little job to do

"Yes okay"

"Thanks love" Rachel replied before going into the en suite

Once Rachel was ready, she helped Taylor to get dressed before they all got into the car to drive into town.

"What colour do you want to paint your bedroom then?"

"Can we paint it pink?"

"Of course we can. My bedroom used to be pink when I was your age"

They bought the paint, and then went into next to buy lots of accessories. Rachel wanted to make the bedroom as homely and cosy as possible for Ivy, because it was her home now.

Once they were done in town Rachel drove to some woods where they all dressed up nice and warm and then started to walk. They walked in silence for a bit, both of their heads filled with thoughts. They hadn't been out all weekend, so it was just nice to clear their heads.

"Rachel, where is Mummy now?" Ivy asked as the thought had suddenly popped into her head.

"Mummy's gone up to heaven" Rachel said pointing to the stars

"What with all of the stars?"

"Yes, with all of the stars. So she'll always be with us, even if you can't actually see her"

Rachel thought that this was a nice way of putting it. There's always something very pretty about looking up at the stars, so it's nice to think that her best friend is in a nice place now.

They carried on walking but after a little bit Ivy's legs started to ache so they turned around and headed back to the car. Rachel had to feed both twins whilst they were there because they were both hungry. Luckily Ivy was a very patient little girl, so was happy to just sit there and chat to Rachel until she was done.

They hadn't been home for long when Taylor and Eddie got home too.

"Taylor" Ivy said as she ran up and gave Taylor a massive hug as soon as she walked to the front door

"Hi Ivy, have you had a good day?" Taylor asked

"Yeah, it was really good. Come and see all of the new stuff I got" Ivy replied clearly very excited

Taylor went upstairs, practically being dragged by Ivy where there were bags full of stuff in her bedroom.

"Can we play hide and seek?" Ivy asked. She didn't have any brothers or sisters, so she was loving having Taylor around to play with her all of the time.

"We can, but I do need to do a bit of homework first. So how about you go and see if Rachel needs any help with tea and then we can play after that?" Taylor suggested. Ivy was happy about this so skipped down the stairs to see Rachel. Taylor was pleased to see that Ivy was a lot happier today

"Rachel, please can I help you cook tea?" Ivy asked

"Of course you can. Why don't you grab the stool and then you can help me decorate these pizzas"

"Yay, I love making pizzas. I'm going to do them in the shape of smiley faces"

Once they were done making the pizzas the kitchen was in a big mess. But Rachel didn't mind, she was just pleased that Ivy really did seem a lot happier.

"Rachel, when am I going back to school?"

"You can go back whenever you want" Rachel replied

"Can I go back tomorrow?"

"If that's what you want to do, of course you can. What are you going to do now whilst the pizzas are cooking?"

"I've finished my homework so we can play hide and seek now if you like" Taylor said who had been sitting at the kitchen table the whole time

"Yay" Ivy said running off to hide

"Don't feel you have to play with her all of the time Taylor, if it's getting too much just say" Rachel said not wanting Taylor to feel she had to keep Ivy occupied all of the time

"No it's fine, I like playing with her. She's fun. READY OR NOT HERE I COME" Taylor replied before going off to find Ivy which was always fun because the house was so big and had a lot of hiding places

"If you're going to school tomorrow, shall we get you in the bath so that you're all clean?" Rachel asked once they had finished eating their tea

Ivy nodded before climbing the stairs with Rachel. Rachel ran the bath for her and then sat with her whilst she played for a bit. Suddenly Ivy filled one of the jugs with water and tipped it over Rachel's head. Rachel was taken by surprise and couldn't help but laugh at the girl's mischievousness. Rachel dipped her hand in the water and splashed Ivy back.

It didn't take long for Rachel to be soaked right through along with the bathroom floor. Rachel took her clothes off and wrapped a towel around her before helping Ivy out of the bath too.

"Right then madam, pyjama time" Rachel said before going into Ivy's bedroom and helping her into her pyjamas

"Do you want to come into my bedroom and I'll dry your hair for you?"

The pair went into Rachel's bedroom. Rachel got into her own pyjamas before standing behind Ivy at her dressing table and drying her hair.

"Why are you so wet Mum?" Taylor asked Rachel as they walked back into the lounge

"Let's just say someone was a bit of a monkey at bath time" Rachel said making Ivy giggle with a guilty smile on her face

Although it wasn't for the best reasons, everyone was loving having Ivy around and she already felt like part of the family.

Suzy, you might want to get your facts right before commenting. That's the first chapter in this fic that contains a bed- wetting scene. I like to write about every day stuff, just like I know Evapopelover does too. Fair enough if you don't like to read those sorts of things, but there's no need to make comments like that.
