These Shattering Memories
Chapter Twenty-Five
It had been one week since Chris' accident, since the demon had thrown him into the wall and one week since he had miraculously woken up.
Wyatt was sat against a wall with tears still streaming down his face as he stared at his little brother, it had been twenty minutes since he had given up trying to heal him and now he was alone in the room with him whilst everyone else were giving him the space he needed.
"Why did you have to leave me Chris? Why did you give up?" Wyatt questioned through his tears with a strangled voice, he had the tip of his index finger in his mouth as he shook his head looking at his brother. A moment passed and suddenly Chris sucked in oxygen in a gasp and sat up breathing heavily, looking around panicked.
"What happened?" he asked as he saw Wyatt shoot up to his knees and pounce on him for a hug, hugging him so tightly he felt like he couldn't breathe.
"Oh my God, you're alive, how did this happen? You were gone for a good half an hour," Wyatt spoke hurriedly as if trying to explain everything before he woke up from this dream as he believed it could be.
"I was dead for a half hour? Why didn't you heal me?" Chris questioned, he had sweat trickling down his face and him and Wyatt was looking at him intently, his eyes darting around to take in every inch of his face.
"I – I – I couldn't, I killed the demon and you were already dead, there was nothing I could do," Wyatt revealed and Chris could see his self-blame and felt really bad for him.
"It wasn't your fault Wy, I'm sure you did everything you possibly could and I love you for that and always will," Chris explained to his older brother and Wyatt's face softened and they just stared at each other, he didn't think he could love his brother even more than he already did but losing him in such a seemingly final way had made him appreciate and love him that much more.
"I love you too Chris and don't you ever scare me like that again!" Wyatt scolded him and then his mind wandered to his family whom he really needed to tell that the middle Halliwell child was now alive again.
All of the Halliwell's were ecstatic about this resurrection and practically smothered Chris to the point of death again, hypothetically and Chris appreciated it more than he ever thought he would. That night was the first night since his whole ordeal had started that he wasn't plagued with dreams of his other self so he woke the next morning in an extremely good mood or at least as happy as Chris ever was even before the ordeal.
"What's got you so happy?" Wyatt asked when he entered his little brother's room and sat down on his bed with him.
"I didn't have a dream last night; no evil Wyatt, no other time line and no white-lighter Chris Perry," Chris explained and Wyatt smiled widely at his bro and found himself in a happier mood himself.
"That's amazing!" Wyatt exclaimed, he tackled him in a hug and in the process ruffled up his hair in a nougie. Piper and Leo had caught sight of the laughing brothers and smiled before heading downstairs.
"Does this mean it's over?" Piper asked Leo because despite being a mortal now he had been magical for longer than she had been.
"I think it does, I think he has lived out the nightmare. He's even done the dying part, he still has all of those harrowing memories but he can move past them now," Leo replied to his wife and they both smiled into their coffees.
Everything was going smoothly for the Halliwell family, they were all happy and weren't worrying about the next time everything would take a nose dive because they would cross that bridge when they got to it.
The End
