*Adam's POV*

Wow, that PE demo was awesome! I didn't even have to work on my calculus! But unfortunately Coach Barns found someone else who could do everything right, Rose. She's perfect in every way. Wow, that was deep.

"Hey Adam," I heard a girl say from beside me. I turned around and sure enough there was Claire Smith. Why is a popular talking to me?

"Uh, hey Claire," I said trying to be as friendly as possible. She was the reason my brother got that red mark on his face. Well, not intentionally, but if she never talked to Chase in the first place, Ally wouldn't have slapped him, or told off Bree.

"So, it looks like we have chemistry together," she giggled. I don't get why that's so funny.

"Yeah, we have since I came here," I tilted my head, hoping that whatever it is in the brain that makes you smart would wake up or something. I hate not knowing answers. Chase never has that problem.

"Well, maybe we could get together sometime and work on it a little," she suggested, dragging her finger down my arm.

"Stop it," I giggled. "It tickles." She frowned, like that wasn't what she was trying to do. Why else would someone do that if not to make them laugh?

"How about we get together at your place after school," she said.

"No," I immediately shook my head.

"Why not," she pouted, looking shocked that I had said no to her.

"Dav- my dad, doesn't like having people over," I said, almost calling him Davenport. She opened her mouth to say something, but the bell interrupted her. Thank you bell! "See you in class, bye." Well, that was awkward.

*Rose's POV*

I watched through slit eyes as Claire Smith attempted to flirt with Adam. Ugh, would those populars ever stop? I mean, first she practically throws herself at Chase, and now she's moving on to his brother the next day. What a hoe! And now she's chasing after him! I guess they have chemistry together… THE CLASS! JUST THE CLASS! Not the other thing that means… romantic stuff. I care about Adam, he's a good friend. The sound of a buzzer went off in my head, like in those game shows when somebody gets the question wrong. I didn't know why, it was the truth. Adam and I are good friends. And there goes the sound again.

***Time Skip***

I hate having study hall alone. And having it last period really stinks because I would rather just go home. I could, but technically that would be called ditching and I could get suspended. You know, if I got caught. But I usually suffer through in the library and meet up with Bree or Chase. I would go to Adam's last class, but it's on the other side of the school and my locker is next to the AP Calculus room, aka, Chase's last class. With just two minutes left in class, I walked over to the AP Calculus room. How he gets this stuff is mind boggling… oh yeah, super human intelligence. The bell rang just as I got in front of the door. I jumped back about three feet because I knew that the door was going to fly open and if I didn't move, it would get me right in the face. Sure enough, the door did swing open and the first person to leave was Quinn Lamington, and he did not look happy. About seven more people came out, and then Chase. That was the entire class, the only people in our grade that choose to take AP Calculus.

"Hey," I greeted as I fell into step with him.

"Hi," he sighed.

"You sure seem chipper," I said sarcastically. "Does it by any chance have to do with our student body president, also known as Quinn Lamington?"

"Yep," he sighed, running one hand through his hair while the other was clutching his binder and text book.

"What happened?"

"I just told him that I wasn't going to join the debate team," he said.

"Oh, yeah that would explain the pissed off look of his," I said as we neared our lockers.

"I mean, I know that I told him that I would join, but that was yesterday and a lot has happened since then." He was right, yesterday seemed like a long time ago, but really it was only in fact the day before.

"He can't blame you for not wanting to stick with it," I commented, pulling hard on my lock. "Wasn't it his fault that Claire started flirting with you in the first place. And her flirting led to Ally, and Ally led to her getting kicked out of the populars, and Ally getting kicked out of the populars led to you being nice to her."

"Rose, I know you don't like her," he started saying. Ah, so he did pick up on the annoyance in my voice. "But remember what I said about second chances."

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, you and your niceness," I groaned. "Sometimes I wish I could hate you for it." He flashed me a smile before closing his locker.

"Oh, you know you love me," he teased. Ugh, why must he keep that over me?

"So what if I do? Love is an emotion. We can't help who we feel it for," I snapped, slamming my locker closed with more force than necessary. "Let's just go so I can beat up Leo." I was joking of course… well kinda.

"Uh," Chase said, stopping after taking only one step.

"What?" I asked, confused. We usually walk to his house after school, and it was Friday.

"I'm going over to Ally's house," he said quietly, looking down. Oh yeah, he has to work on his project with that little shrew.

"I see," I said calmly. Chase gave me a sad smile. Dang it! He knows that I can't stay mad at him when he does that! Honestly, it's like looking at a sad puppy and you would do anything to make it feel better. That's what Chase's look does to me every single time. It gets extremely annoying!

"I'm sorry. I'll make it up to you," he promised as he took a few steps backwards. I just nodded, trying my hardest to make it look like his sad puppy dog face didn't work on me. He just smirked, because he knows me better than that. Chase turned and started walking in the opposite direction, probably to Ally's locker, or as I like to call it, the land of no return. I sighed before adjusting my black bag on my shoulder and walking out the front doors towards the Davenport house.

*Ally's POV*

I hate PE. That's all there is to it. I'm not exactly bad at it, I just don't like it. The only good thing about the class is that I have it last and I have it alone. Well, of course there are other people in the class, but no populars are in it, neither are any of the Davenports. I thought of this and my life in general as I left the girls change room and headed to my locker. Turn left, another left, right, and left yet again. Turning the last corner I almost ran right into Chase.

"Wow," he said, grabbing my shoulders to straighten me out. See, I'm not the most coordinated person on the planet, so even if I almost bump into someone, I still fall over. But he somehow managed to catch me.

"Thanks," I breathed, avoiding eye contact. For some reason Chase has been on my mind a lot today. And not just him per say. It was his smile, laugh, niceness, and his amazing hazel eyes. Snap out of it Ally, the guys talking to you.

"Is today not a good day after all?" he asked, raising an eyebrow in slight confusion. It was so cute! Not again!

"For what?" I asked dumbly. He gave me a weird look and I mentally slapped myself. "I'm sorry I kinda zoned out there for a second."

"It's okay," he chuckled. Don't even go there thoughts! "I just asked if you still wanted me to come over to your house." Right, I invited him over to work on our bio project. Rupert better not skimp on the food… oh who am I kidding he never skimps!

"Yeah, just let me get my bag and we can take my car," I said, taking the few steps it took to get to my locker. I put the right numbers in the dial and yanked it open, throwing random books in my bag. I didn't have any homework anyway. Chase helped me finish everything during study hall. We made small talk until we got outside and stood in front of my car. His mouth was hanging open, and I just smirked at him.

"Wow," was all he managed to get out. Yeah, I have that effect on people. Just wait until he gets a look at my house.

***Time Skip***

Okay, so he wasn't all that shocked about my house. Which I don't really get, most people stop and take pictures in front of my house… really it's happened before.

"Nice house," was all he said as he exited my car.

"Thanks," I smiled. I don't care if he doesn't find my house impressive. "This," I said dramatically as I opened the door leading from the garage to the front entrance. "This is where I live. See, no evil castle in the forest with a draw bridge and mote or anything like that."

"Darn, I was so looking forward to helping the soldiers torture the people in the dungeon," he joked. Despite the fact that I knew that might have been where some people thought I actually lived, I laughed.

"Ally, honey are you talking to yourself again?" Rupert called from the kitchen. Oh great, Rupert is probably going to embarrass me in front of Chase… or chase him away. Hahaha he might chase Chase away. Oh, come on people, that's funny!

"Okay, one, I never talked to myself in the first place. And two, I'm with someone," I called back. I was just about to turn to Chase and explain who Rupert is, but before I could even open my mouth, a loud crash came from the kitchen. I think Rupert just dropped whatever it is he was doing… literally. Sure enough he came striding in about three seconds later, probably took time to compose himself. When he saw that I really was with someone, or a boy in general, he did a double take.

"Oh, why hello," he said politely, smiling at Chase.

"Uh, hi," he responded. I think he's uncomfortable… yeah that is not a look of comfort on his face. That's the look of distress.

"Chase, this is our chef Rupert," I said, completely saving him. "Rupert this is Chase. We're partners for a biology project, so we're going to be working on that upstairs in my room." Rupert gave me a knowing smile as he nodded his head.

"Okay, I'll call when dinners ready," he said. "Chase, are you staying for dinner?"

"Um- I can't," I shot him a confused look because I thought he was going to stay. "I called my dad and he said he wanted me home in time for dinner."

"Oh, well maybe some other time," Rupert smiled.

"Well, we're gonna be up in my room if you need us," I told him once again, hoping that he would get the hint and leave.

"Okay, I can take a hint," he said, holding up his hands in surrender. He just started walking back to the kitchen, but he turned back around to say something. "Make sure you keep your door open." He shot me a wink and I'm praying that Chase hadn't seen it.

"Bye!" I shouted at Rupert and he turned and kept walking. Well, this is awkward… "I'm sorry about that."

"It's okay," he said uneasily.

"Let's just uh, go up to my room and work on the project," I suggest, pointing up the stairs to where my room is.

"Sure," he said, following me up the stairs and into my room. My hand is still on the door knob, and I can't decide if I should leave it open or close it, so I kept swinging it back and forth. "You know, you're probably going to break the door, right?"

"Oh be quiet," I said playfully, picking up a pillow on my desk chair and chucking it at him. He deflected it while chuckling. Gosh I love that sound. Ugh, stay away you!

"So…" he said, awkwardly standing in the middle of the room. I am so gonna get Rupert back for this.

"You can sit where ever," I said, sitting on the edge of my bed. He looked around before walking over to my desk and pulling the chair so it was beside my bed. Gotta love chairs with wheels. "So… flamingos."

"Yeah, they're… you know… pink," he said. He was avoiding eye contact which I didn't really mind, mostly since I was doing the same thing.

"They stand weird," I offered. "You know… on one foot." Chase just nodded his head as he continued to look around the room. Oh gosh this could not be more awkward.

"Um, why don't we just look them up," he suggested.

"Good idea," I jumped up and got my laptop from my desk. This is gonna be a long couple of hours.

***Time Skip***

"Here's something," I said about two hours later. "There are six different types of flamingos."

"Really, six?" Chase asked with a laugh. Yeah, the awkwardness has gone and we're just working on our project and joking around. Turns out, Chase isn't just the smart guy. He's pretty amazing. Chase just shook his head as he wrote it down in his notebook. I looked at the time in the corner of the screen. It was already five o'clock. Wow, time really flies.

"I think that's enough for today," I said, closing my computer and putting it to the side.

"Yeah," he agreed looking at his watch. "I should probably head home anyway."

"I can give you a ride if you want," I offered. Anything to spend more time with him. Okay, so I like Chase, so what. It's not like anything is ever going to happen.

"That's okay," he said shaking his head. "I'm just going to walk. I only live about a block away anyway." Really, he lived that close?

"Really?" I asked. "I can't believe I've never seen you around before. This is a pretty tight knit neighbourhood." It's true to. We're always having block parties and everyone knows everyone.

"Yeah, my family's kind of… non-socialable," Chase said uneasily.

"Really? Adam, Bree, and Leo don't really give off that impression," I said, crossing my arms. "They give off more of a, 'We're crazy' vibe."

"I know, but they're really not that crazy," he said, looking down and picking up his bag. "Now I really should go. I'll see you on Monday. " He started heading out the door.

"I thought we were going to work more on the project this weekend!" I called after him.

"Yeah, sure just text me whenever!" He called from the top of the stairs before he bolted down them. I sighed and plopped down on the corner of my bed. He's hiding something. And I'm going to find out what it is.

I am so sorry! I know I haven't updated in like... a year (wow!) and I never meant for it to be that long. My reason being I have been really busy (not for the entire year) and, as bad as it sounds, I kinda got a life. And I started writing on a different fan fiction site. I actually write 2 on that site and I have another one in progress. I like that site because you can use links in it and have pictures and videos within the chapter. It's really cool. But back to this story! I will try my hardest to update as much as I can and there should never be a gap like that EVER AGAIN! So, once again I am sorry for the wait, hope it was worth it, and I will update as soon as I get the chance.
