Title:Just Another Day
Author: Trista Groulx aka dustytiger
Rating: T (like the show to be safe)
Disclaimer: I still sadly don't own NCIS it belongs to its network, creator, writers, actors and actresses who bring it to life weekly. I make nothing but happies from writing this.
Summary: Tony's in a relationship with Zoe time to share that with their non work families.
Notes: Wrapping up that last few loose ends. I don't like to mix long fic and m fic so, yeah... hehe kind of fades to black at the end. This one once again reminded me why I always have my fic wrapped up before I start to post it. You never know what life will throw at you, but I didn't have to abandon this fic. All is resolved now thank the gods. I really hope you liked it!
By the end of the night they were both exhausted, even though it was a small informal get together it was still a long day. They had done a lot of planning, and had even chosen a venue where they could dance with their guests. They loaded the last of their gifts into the car, still surprised that they had received such perfect and thoughtful gifts from everyone who had celebrated with them.
"Are you good, Zoe?" DiNozzo asked her as Keates buckled her seat belt.
"I am, Spider," she assured him. "There were times where it was a little overwhelming, but I'm fine really. Stuff like this will always make me miss her."
He took her hand squeezed it. "I know, Beautiful. Today was good though."
"It really was Tony," she quickly wiped away her tears. "Today is about being happy. I didn't know what I wanted but everything was perfect. It was more than I could ever ask for. I still can't believe you got Auntie, Tracy and Kelsea here without me knowing it, but there's always going to be someone missing."
"I wanted to surprise you, and I'm glad you did. It's normal to want her there, I want my mom there too Zoe."
She shook her head, and allowed a few tears to fall down her face. "I forget sometimes that you lost your mom too."
He wiped the tears with his fingers as they waited at a stop light. "I don't talk about it much, but we're in this together."
"You're right we are. I'm glad that everyone else came after all it made it easier."
"Tonight was amazing, even if there's a part of both of us who will always wonder what it would be like to have our mothers there."
"I know you're right. Having Aunt Helen, Tracy and Kelsey show up like that made it easier. They want us to meet them for brunch at the hotel tomorrow."
"I'm glad I got to surprise you, I was sure I was going to let the cat out of the bag. Brunch sounds amazing. I just hope they don't want us to be there too early."
She laughed. "No they understand, Spider."
He pulled into the parking lot of the building where they lived. She sighed happily as soon as the car was parked, glad to be home. They went up to the apartment they shared. When they got in he fed the fish before she wrapped her arms around him and kissed him tenderly. She felt like she was home with him. The apartment now reflected them both. It was still very classic but there were more photos and personal items around. She wasn't sure when it became home but she was happy it was.
DiNozzo pulled her closer, still amazed he'd found her again. She had come into his life when he needed someone the most. He thought he had lost a part of himself but discovered he just hadn't found it yet. They had built something good together, and he knew they would continue to work on it. He never thought he'd settle down, but he was happy to have made it happen. When they reconnected he never thought it would end like this.
Keates was also thrilled that she had found him again. He had been supportive of her since they reconnected, and he made her happier than she thought she could be. Sometimes she wondered where they might be if they hadn't lost contact with each other, but a part of her knew they hadn't been ready to make a future together then. This was how it was supposed to happen and she was going to cherish every moment they had together. She was happy and she knew that he was as well. It was all they could ask for and they knew they could endure despite some of the examples they had seen. They were happy, what they shared was healthy and they both knew they would do what it took to keep it in their lives.
The End
