Chapter 24

From the Dark Lands

Abbie tried multiple times to get out of the ropes, to use her moves, to do something that would help her escape, but nothing worked. From what she saw, the Umbreon made the ropes from Bitterroot bush roots, preventing her from using her moves just like the metals collars from Oblivion Kingdom. She couldn't talk to them, either, because they tied her mouth shut. Zen wasn't much help, since he was taken down and tied just as easily as Abbie was. The wild Umbreon tied the ropes around their necks with an end coming off both the left and right sides so they could pull her and Zen where they wanted. And right now, that was away from where they wanted to go. Instead of heading west to Auras, they were going north, deeper into the forest.

Slowly, the sun was coming up, and the rays of light touched the tops of the tree. Abbie saw the trunks of the trees becoming thicker and taller as they kept walking, and after about ten more minutes, the terrain became all too familiar in her eyes. Umbreon and Eevee were everywhere, playing, laughing, and talking. Homes and dens were carved into the thick trunks, turning them into houses for the Pokemon. Windows and doors were carved out from different types of wood to decorate the trees, and just outside the houses were several tree stumps. Some Umbreon were sitting on them, chatting away. Wooden stairs spiraled around some of the trunks, leading to rooms upstairs. Paths had been worn down from where Pokemon walked, creating a road. Eevee cubs ran, swung on vines, practiced moves, and battled, and the laughter was everywhere. The small amount of light shone through the natural, leafy skylight, and the crisp air created a natural rose scent.

The scent. Abbie knew that she knew the scent of this place. It was familiar, too familiar, just like Booker's scent back at Oblivion castle. Except this one was stronger and not masked under rain and dirt. In fact, it was the rain and the dirt that made something in her brain click. The sounds were deafening from how familiar they were, and how she couldn't recognize them. She knew them, but she couldn't remember from what.

Abbie stopped as her escorts did, waiting as Duke talked to someone. She backed up a bit as a round ball hit her. It was skillfully woven from thin roots and knotted several times to keep its shape. She glanced from where it came from to see three Eevee cubs standing off to the side of the road, looking at her with wide eyes. Their ears fell back as soon as they noticed her, and they backed up. She rolled the ball back at them and smiled as they immediately cheered up and started playing again.

Zen growled at her. Abbie responded by rolling her eyes and annoyingly sighing. He didn't want her drawing any attention to them because more attention meant more eyes watching them, but she didn't see any harm in helping a few little cubs get their ball back. Besides, Abbie thought that maybe if she showed she wasn't an enemy, they would at the very least let her explain what was happening. They actually seemed like very reasonable Pokemon, despite the fact they attacked her without so much as asking why she was in their territory. Still, they must've had a reason.

The ropes around her neck were pulled, so she began walking. She couldn't help but notice that the farther into the village she got, the more eyes that wandered to them. The whispered questions in the crowds that gathered at the sides of the road echoed in Abbie's ears. All of the Umbreon were thinking the same thing, and "Espeon" was the word that kept popping up. Now she knew they had a reason for attacking her and Zen.

They were led to a small, Pokemon-made clearing. From the clean shape of the tree stumps, she could tell the trees were cut down and the tops smoothed over. It made what seemed to be a place where the whole tribe met and discussed. Abbie and Zen were brought to a tree off to the side with a small den dug into the base. She assumed it was a prison after they were led inside and the ropes tied around the roots that dipped into the den. It pulled her head up, limiting her movement to sitting and standing, and her mouth was still bound shut. She tried to claw at them, but her paws wouldn't reach.

Minutes turned into hours, and sunrise light turned to noon light. Zen pulled and yanked at the ropes until Abbie got annoyed and growled at him to stop. They slept, tried to communicate (to no avail), and finally just gave up. They were both becoming restless as noon turned into sunset. Lidia could have been on her way to Auras Kingdom right now to corrupt Zodia, and they were stuck here.

Then, finally, Duke and two Umbreon came in just as the moon began to show. The two Umbreon cut the ropes of their snouts and went to stand guard outside while Duke stayed to question them.

"I'm guessing you're the head of the tribe," Abbie said rubbing her snout against her shoulder to ease the burning.

"You guess correctly," Duke said patiently, which told Abbie he would wait a long time to get what he needed from them. "What has the Light Tribe been sending you to do in our territory?"

"What?" Zen questioned, raising his ears in surprise.

"Don't play dumb. I know you two aren't Umbreon. You're Ditto that those Espeon sent. So I'm going to ask again: why are you here?"

Abbie chose her words carefully. "I don't know what the 'Light Tribe' is. We're from Auras Kingdom and we're just trying to get back there."

Duke, not being unreasonable, made an offer. "If you can prove it, then I'll let you go."

"I'm the king's brother! Lidia kidnapped both of us, she's corrupted three of the Gemini, if we don't get back to Auras soon, she'll corrupt the last one too and unleash Yveltal! Countless Pokemon will die and…"

"While that is true," Duke interrupted, "everyone around here already knows that. And since you can't prove you're the king's brother then…"

"Booker," Abbie said, staring straight. "There's an Umbreon named Booker in your tribe! If you get him he'll recognize us!"

Duke grit his teeth, trying to stay calm. The Light Tribe knew that Booker had gone missing, but now he was certain they had him. By sending these two Ditto into his territory and having them even mention Booker, he knew that the Espeon were trying to show they had power over him. His loss affected the entire tribe, and it was low to bring it up.

"I suggest you not mention his name again. You're already in enough trouble as it is for coming in our territory."

Abbie hadn't realized that mentioning Booker would bring Duke to anger, and when she did she didn't understand why. "Is Booker ok? He got here, didn't he?"

The Umbreon was suddenly right in front of Abbie, eyes glowing angrily and teeth slightly bared. "Don't say his name again." His voice was filled with rage, even though he did his best to hide it. He turned and began walking out of the prison den. "We will be discussing with the Light Tribe later tonight. They might negotiate to get you two back, but I wouldn't count on it."

Zen yanked at his ropes, which in turn gripped his neck. Time was not a luxury he had. "We saw Booker! Queen Lidia of Oblivion Kingdom captured him and we helped him escape!"

Duke ignored him, knowing that he would lose his temper (something that rarely ever happened) if he said anything back. He motioned to the two guards as he walked out, and they forcibly tied the ropes back on Zen's and Abbie's snouts. Abbie didn't fight, knowing that it wouldn't help her case, but Zen was being remarkably stubborn. It took two of the Umbreon to hold him still while another tied his mouth shut. He was breathing deeply through his nose by the time they finished. As the two Umbreon walked out of the prison, he growled at them.

By now, Abbie was getting antsy. She was starting to realize they really didn't have time for this. Lidia could be going after Zodia right now, and without her and Zen to warn her… Abbie shook way the thought and pulled gently at the ropes, watching them to see any weak point. Her paws couldn't reach the ropes, not with how low the ground was, so she moved back to where it gradually rose. The ropes slid slightly on the branch, coming a little closer to her, but didn't give much more leeway. Zen growled at her, asking what she was doing. She raised an eyebrow at him as she stood up on her hind legs and began clawing at the ropes around her neck.

"That won't work."

Abbie stopped scratching and looked toward the entrance of the prison. There was an Eevee, sitting down and just watching her, and the Eevee looked very unimpressed. Abbie slowly lowered herself back onto all fours, eyes locked on the Eevee. She was average size, had neatly combed fur, and was wide awake in the middle of the night.

"The rope's too strong." She went over and manually untied the ropes from Abbie's mouth. "Your claws can't cut through them. And you can't bite through them either."

"Thanks," Abbie said, biting down a couple times to loosen her jaw.

"I'm Kelly by the way, and sorry about all of this." The cub helped Zen out as well. "My dad's being way too paranoid and harsh."

"What's this all about?" Abbie asked.

"He thinks the Light Tribe sent you to spy on us."

"And what's the Light Tribe?"

"Wow, you really are Aurorian." Kelly chuckled. She knew that the kingdoms didn't know much about the tribes, but this Umbreon didn't know anything at all! "Okay, so there's the Dark Tribe, which is Umbreon, and the Light Tribe, which is Espeon. We don't get along, and because of all the worry with Oblivion Kingdom and Yveltal, the Light Tribe has been spying on us."

"But we're Umbreon." Zen stated, his patience running thin. "How could we possibly be spying for the Light Tribe?"

Kelly sat by the entrance, watching what was going on outside. The whole tribe began to gather in the meeting place. "They've been teaming up with some Ditto and exchanging food for information, and my dad thinks that's what both of you are doing."

Duke's words echoed from outside, "The Espeon are trying to trick us into thinking Booker's alive. I believe they're attempting to get us searching again so more of their Ditto can come in and steal food."

"When a Ditto transforms it keeps its own eyes." Zen said dryly.

Kelly shook her head. "Ditto in your kingdom do, but out here they completely got rid of that trait and can perfectly change themselves into any Pokemon."

"That's incredible," Abbie said with a slight smile, "but we're not Ditto. We escaped from Oblivion Kingdom, and if you don't let us go soon Lidia is going to wake Yveltal, and I don't know if I'll be able to stop her."

Kelly's ears shot up and she at Abbie over looked over her shoulder. "What do you mean?"

"Oh, um." Abbie thought of how to explain it. "There's a legend that says that Xerneas's descendant will…"

"...will be the one to protect all life." Kelly finished, standing up and facing the Umbreon. "Yeah, I know the Legend of the Wild One, but what are you saying?"

"I'm the Wild One. I'm supposed to be the one to stop this all from happening but I can't do that here and it's only a matter of time before Lidia goes after the last Gemini."

"But you can't be the Wild One." Kelly almost said that out loud, but stopped herself. She looked at the ground in confusion. What would make Abbie think she was the Wild One? She wasn't from the Dark or Light Tribe, and Xerneas specifically told their ancestors that...unless maybe Abbie was...no. She couldn't have been...but Booker? Maybe she was...but Booker was the only one with the answer...he always denied it. Perhaps Treasa would...was it too much to ask right now?

The meeting was almost over. Kelly wasn't technically allowed to be near the prisoners, and her dad was probably coming back over here to question them again. He was not happy that they had mentioned Booker. The tribe had given up hope that he was alive and stopped searching two weeks ago, but Kelly wasn't going to give up unless she saw a body. If these two strangers were telling the truth, Booker was alive and could clear everything up. He could confirm that these two pokemon were who they said they were, her father wouldn't need to get angry with the Light Tribe, and the two Aurorians could go home. As for the Wild One confusion, Kelly could deal with that later.

The Eevee didn't waste any time. "Do you swear that Booker is alive?"

Abbie nodded. "We helped him escape from Oblivion Kingdom and split up not even two days ago. He said he was going straight back home, which is this pack, so I don't know why he's not here."

Kelly took a quick look at the pack, seeing everyone still distracted with the meeting, and jogged to Abbie. She unsheathed her claws and began untying the tight rope, rather than waste time trying to cut it. "I think I might know where he is, but we have to go now. If he's not there, I don't know what we're going to do next." After a few seconds, she successfully untied one rope from Abbie's neck and began working on the next.

"We'll figure it out." Abbie reassured. "I'm Abbie, by the way."

Suddenly, Kelly stopped. Abbie. The name was all too familiar, and everything clicked in her head. Any doubt of Abbie being the Wild One slipped away. Booker had to be alive, and his wife Treasa would be overjoyed at all of this. Their family could be whole again. The pack would celebrate, and the Light Tribe would as well. Life would be saved. All because Abbie was a nickname for Abrielle, and if she was raised in the kingdoms...

"What are you doing?"

Kelly quickly faced the entrance and got into an attacking stance upon hearing the foreign voice. An Umbreon stood, blocking the way out, and stared straight at the cub. He took a step closer, making Kelly growl at him. To Abbie and Zen, he was just another Umbreon they couldn't identify. Kelly, however, had no idea who he was, and she knew every single pokemon in the pack

"Listen," Zen began, "we're just trying to get home and…"

"He's not an Umbreon," Kelly growled. "He's a Ditto."

The other pokemon chuckled. "You're very perceptive for a cub."

He briskly shot a Shadow Ball, purposefully missing his target and hitting Abbie instead. It threw her into the side of the den and whipped up dirt for the Ditto to use as cover. Abbie shook off the attack as if it were nothing and scrambled to her paws as she saw Kelly being taken. After seeing that the ropes had been shredded by the Shadow Ball, she rushed out of the den and tailed the Ditto. Zen, also free, ran after her, or he would've if some of the Umbreon from the pack hadn't stopped him. The majority of them, however, ran after Abbie, and Duke was literally on her tail.

He wasn't going to lose his daughter. He already lost his best friend, which in turn affected the entire tribe. It made everyone lose hope, and with the threat of Yveltal looming over their heads, the pack had lost their sense safety and security. He couldn't lose anymore. When he first saw the flash of Kelly's brown tail after the explosion caught his attention, he bolted. But, when he saw one of the Ditto prisoners following the one who grabbed his daughter, his anger rose.

Duke jumped, barely grabbing onto Abbie's tail as he dove into the ground. They both went down, rolling over each other on the ground until Duke pinned her down. Learning from the last time he pinned her like that, she twisted her entire body in a jerking motion, throwing him off. The other Umbreon, who had yet to realize she was on their side, rapidly fired their moves at her. Shee stole a glance behind her, knowing the Ditto was getting away with Kelly, and mentally apologized to the pack. Dark energy rushed through her veins and forced its way out through the pads of her paws, sending pulses of darkness out in all directions. The Dark Pulse was her strongest yet as it forcefully slammed into the multiple Umbreon.

Zen ducked behind a tree as Abbie released her Dark Pulse. He felt it rush past him at an unimaginable speed, and the wind nearly knocked him off his paws. He looked around the tree, seeing her simply standing there. She was powerful, very powerful.

Abbie returned to her chase, running as fast as she could and breathing heavily. Her paws swept over the ground, which had begun to feel wet. She could smell water close by and hear the river rapids. Immediately, she knew what the Ditto was planning to do, and pushed herself to run faster. Running around the trees to catch up was exhausting, so she used them to her advantage. Right at the spot where the forest ended, Abbie jumped onto the trunk of a tree and pushed off using her paws, tackling the Ditto. All three of them went tumbling into the river, which swept them downstream.

Duke, leading other Umbreon from the pack, stopped at the river's edge. Panic was written across his face. "Kelly!"

Kelly broke the surface of the water, calmly paddling to keep herself afloat, and she saw her dad on the bank. "I'm fine, Dad!" She shouted over the babbling water.

Kelly wasn't aware of how close she was to the waterfall until her back slammed into a jagged rock sticking out of the water. It cut her skin, causing blood to seep out, and dazed her for just a few seconds. She sunk under the water for a few seconds, and resurfaced just to go tumbling over the waterfall. Duke shouted for his daughter, prepared to jump after her, until an Umbreon emerged from the water.

Abbie took in a breath of air and jumped out of the water onto a rock that sticking out. She leaned forward, back paws holding her on the rock, and bit the scruff of Kelly's neck, barely catching the Eevee before she fell over. Abbie breathed deeply, seeing the huge drop just below her. The water hitting the rock made it shake so much that she thought it was going to fall out from under her. Her muscles shook from the struggle to keep balance, but she held on.

"You okay?" Abbie asked through the fur in her mouth.

"Yeah," Kelly panted. "Thanks Abbie."

Abbie slowly and steadily back up, carefully pulling Kelly on a steady surface. Then, she had Kelly climb onto her back and jump onto the riverbank, where her father was. Abbie was about to jump back herself, when something knocked her right off the rock. Both her and the Ditto, who was still disguised as an Umbreon, plummeted toward the lake.

Abbie hit the water hard, needles stabbing her shoulder and side. She opened her eyes underwater, surprised at how clear the water was. Everything seemed to slow down. There were no pokemon in the lake, but it looked like it could support a substantial amount of life. Moonlight beautifully lit up the water, making it look like a mosaic of blue. The atmosphere of the lake felt calming, yet something was pulling at Abbie. She looked around, seeing a bridge of land leading to a small island at the lake's center. She was going to swim towards it, but her need to breathe overpowered her instinct. On the way up, she saw the Ditto, an actual Ditto now, so after she got a breath she dove back under the water to get him. The stabbing on her skin turned into burning as she pulled his unconscious body toward the lakeside.

Kelly was ahead of her dad and the rest of the pack. She knew he would be furious with Abrielle for something a Ditto tried to do. The entire pack would be, despite what Abbie did to help her. As she practically jumped down the steep path along the edge of the cliff, Duke called after her saying to slow down, but obviously she didn't listen.

Kelly dashed to Abbie side and helped the Umbreon stand up. "Are you okay?"

Abbie, soaking wet, stood up shakily and shook herself off. "Yeah, I'm good."

"Kelly! Move away!" Duke barked. He quickly formed a purple ball in front of his mouth, but from what Abbie saw it wasn't a Shadow Ball. "Now!"

The other Umbreon were about to attack, when Kelly growled, loud and demanding. She lowered herself into an attacking stance while keeping the growl in the back of her throat. Abbie's ears picked it up like a message, and she backed up to give the Eevee space.

Zen abandoned his hiding place, ran around the group of Umbreon, and stood next to Abbie. "Please listen to us."

"She's not a Ditto." Kelly stated, not moving an inch.

"Her and her friend just tried to kidnap you!" Duke snapped.

"She just saved me from falling over the waterfall!"

A new voice rang out. "Duke wait!"

Abbie looked up near the top of the waterfall. "Booker!"

An Umbreon stood next to an Espeon, and behind them were tons more Espeon. Booker smiled at his friend as he made his way down the cliff, followed by the Espeon pack. The Umbreon pack tensed up, but made room for the Light Tribe. Booker ran straight to a female Umbreon in his tribe, hugged her and kissed her, asking if she was ok, and then went to Duke. They both momentarily hugged. Duke was overjoyed to see his best friend alive and well, and Booker was glad to be home. But, as soon as the hug was over, Booker walked next to Abbie and Zen, smiling at them.

"I'm glad you're okay," Abbie said, smiling. His scent was stronger now that he was out of the prison, and it was killing Abbie how familiar it was.

"They're telling the truth." Booker stated. "Lidia's been the one sending the Ditto to steal and spy on us."

One Espeon, a female, stepped away from her pack and strode up to Duke. "We've been getting them in our territory, too, Duke. This whole time we've been blaming each other."

"A few months ago I found out what Lidia was doing," Booker explained. "She was keeping me as a prisoner, until these two helped me escape. I went to Ira first, to confirm that it was true, and it was."

Duke glanced between Booker and the Espeon, confusion and doubt all over his face. "But what about your cubs? They…"

"From what I know, she was trying to find the Wild One. The two Espeon who were trying to take my cubs were just Lidia's Ditto. She wanted to kill the Wild One, to make sure no one stopped her."

"Dad," Kelly called out, "this Umbreon, she's the Wild One." A few murmurs and doubtful comments came from the tribes. They knew that Abbie wasn't from one of the tribes, but that didn't sway Kelly's faith one bit. She didn't know what to explain first, so she randomly chose. She turned to Abbie and said, "Walk to the island."

"What?" Abbie asked for clarification.

"The island right in the middle of the lake. Just walk to it."

Abbie directed her gaze to the piece of land in the center of the body of water. She only saw it underwater, but what she saw was stunning. In the middle of the island was a tall tree with a thick trunk and branches extending out in all directions. Bright, healthy, green moss hung from the branches, and the roots gnarled up from the ground. Carved right into the trunk was a picture of Xerneas, and Abbe could already feel it pulling at her. A small path of land formed like a bridge to the island.

She slowly started toward the path. The Umbreon and Espeon moved aside to let Abbie through, and she could feel their stares as she walked past them. She knew they doubted her being the Wild One. Even Zen doubted her and he was presented with all the proof. The only two Pokemon right now who seemed to have faith in her were Booker and Kelly, both of whom she just met. Even when she was past all the pokemon, she still felt their stares drill into the back of her head.

As Abbie set her first paw on the grassy path, all doubt slipped her mind. Everything slipped from her mind and her instincts took over. She was no longer conscious of the stares as her heart pulled her closer to the tree. She didn't hear the gasps from the tribes, nor did she see that as she stepped, a glowing blue paw print was left behind. Her eyes locked onto the carving of Xerneas. Nothing distracted her.

The mouths of the Umbreon and Espeon were wide open, marveling at the sight. The wind began to blow, whistling and tossing the mossy branches and leaves around. The water from the lake lit up the same bright blue color as the pawprints, and the air started glowing with a pink aura. As Abbie got closer to the tree, everyone else backed away. The wind started speeding up, creating waves in the glowing water and violently throwing the branches and leaves. She was ten feet away. The leaves started glowing green and thrashed about, cracking the air. Everyone ducked low to the ground to keep their balance. The roots of the trees shone with a white aura as Abbie touched them. The aura rushed through the tree trunk like blood through veins until it lit up the carving of Xerneas. The Wild One stopped just inches away, completely hypnotized. She was the only calm thing in the storm.

She stood on her hind legs and touched the carving with her front paws. Everything stopped. The wind, the leaves, the water. It all stopped as if it were suspended in time. The glowing lights pulled themselves from the water, the leaves, the air, and the tree. They flowed through the air like ribbons, cautiously approaching the Wild One. They circled around her, keeping their distance at first, but came as close as centimeters away from her fur. Each of the four lights, one at a time, touched the band on her forehead and enveloped into her body.

Everything returned to normal. The water was still, the wind was quiet, and the only light was from the moon. The Spearow chirped again, completely oblivious to what happened. Abbie fell out of her trance and shook her head, realizing what had just happened. Her heart felt warm, and the ring on her forehead spread a relaxed, yet powerful, feeling throughout her body. Remembering there were two packs behind her, Abbie turned and faced them. They all stared at her with amazement for what seemed like days. She awkwardly rolled her shoulders and slowly began walking back, trying to pretend she didn't see everyone staring at her by staring at the ground.

But what she couldn't pretend to not see was everyone simultaneously bow their heads toward her. It was like a wave. First, the row of Umbreon closest to her lowered their heads, and the other Umbreon followed. Then, the Espeon bowed. Even Booker and Duke bowed to her. Zen looked around, confused at what had just happened. When Abbie stepped back onto the mainland, Duke stood back up and approached her.

"I apologize, Wild One," he said, lowering his head to her once again.

"It's okay. You were just looking out for your pack," Abbie responded with a smile, feeling a little more at ease. "Do you think you could tell me what just happened with all the lights?"

Kelly, after telling everyone it was okay to stand back up, ran up to Abbie and Duke. "That was proof that you're the Wild One!" She was smiling, excited that she was actually standing in front of Xerneas's descendant. "Xerneas gave you her spirit."

"If you don't mind me intruding…" Ira, the leader of the Espeon, stepped up to face the Wild One. "...I don't believe you were born in one of the packs, were you?"

Abbie shook her head. "No…"

"Yes she was!" Kelly said over Abbie.

"Kelly!" Her dad warned.

"So how can you be the Wild One?" Ira questioned, the gem on her head glowing curiously.

"What are you talking about?" Zen asked. "What does being born in one of your packs have to do with her being the Wild One?"

"Well," Booker chuckled, "it's actually not accurate but…"

"I got it," Kelly smiled. She looked at Booker and gestured for him to come over, and then looked right at Abbie. The smile on Kelly's face was huge. She was about to put a family back together. "A long time ago, before she went to sleep, Xerneas told our ancestors that the Wild One would be born in one of the packs and that whoever it was would be revealed when they evolved. So, every couple of months both packs meet right here and some of the cubs evolve, but so far no one has gotten the tree to light up until…"

"Until me," Abbie finished, nodding. "But I wasn't born in the packs."

"Yes you were!" Kelly shouted excitedly. "Booker, she's your cub!"

"Kelly!" Duke snapped, not believing his daughter would bring up a sensitive subject. A few gasps came from the Umbreon a they began to realize that what Kelly was saying could be true.

Booker smiled sadly and shook his head. "Thank you, Kelly, but my cubs didn't make it."

"Just think about it! Every cub we've sent up to that tree hasn't been the Wild One. The only two cubs that didn't go up are your cubs! How do you even know Lidia killed them?"

A new voice rang from the crowd. "Booker and I went back."

Abbie looked past Booker after hearing the voice. Not only was Booker's familiar scent irritating her, but the sweet voice rang familiarly in her head. A female Umbreon, the one Booker hugged when he first arrived, stepped out of the crowd. Abbie identified her as his wife and locked eyes with the Umbreon, knowing she had seen the face before and knowing she heard the voice before. A voice as sweet as Combee honey.

"We were going back to retrieve our cubs, but Lidia..."

"Treasa," Duke interrupted. "You don't have to say if you don't want to."

Booker's wife smiled thankfully to Duke. "It's okay. I don't think the Wild One should be confused about her parentage." Treasa cleared her throat before continuing, looking directly at Abbie. "After things from that day had calmed down, Booker and I went back to find our cubs when we saw Lidia take both of them. We chased her and her warriors, but we lost them. When we returned to the den we left them in, all we found was blood."

"You must've missed something!" Kelly said loudly, trying to convince them. "This is Abrielle, your daughter!"

Suddenly, everything clicked in Abbie's mind. Booker's and Treasa's daughter's name was Abrielle, the name that Abbie's parents had given her. The third dream Xerneas showed her, where she was holding onto a pokemon while everything was stormy around her, and she saw another cub doing the same. A story was being whispered into her ear, and then she heard her name. She stared straight at Booker and Treasa, not believing she was looking at her own parents. Now it made sense why Treasa's voice sounded familiar, and why from the moment she met Booker his scent was implanted in her mind.

"Kelly you need to drop this now!"

Abbie mumbled something, staring straight at her parents. Duke stopped shouting at Kelly and asked Abbie what she said.

The Wild One looked between Treasa and Booker. "It was stormy that night. The rain was cold, but you kept running." She directed her gaze strictly to Treasa. "You were telling me a story. I think, I mean it's a little bit of a blur, but I think it was the Tale of Life and Death."

Treasa's ears fell back. She took a few steps toward Abbie, keeping her gaze, but closely examining the her face for details. Booker did the same from behind, but his face was equally as shocked. This Umbreon, whom he thought he knew, was now a completely different pokemon. As soon as he met her, she was brave, kind, smart, and loyal, a very fine young lady. She was the Wild One, but was she really his daughter? She was recounting everything from the night he lost her, but her name...

"But, your name is Abbie." Booker muttered, still examining her.

The Wild One chuckled, a shocked expression written across her face. "Well, Abbie is a common nickname in the kingdoms, but my birth name is Abrielle."

Upon hearing the name from Abbie's mouth, her parents jumped at her, hugging her tightly. She remained frozen, tears starting to form in her eyes, but realizing there were others around she blinked them away. Instead, she smiled and leaned into her mother's arm as she hugged them back.

"I thought you abandoned me," Abbie squeaked, finding it hard to control her tears.

Treasa shook her head, still holding onto her daughter. "No. Never."

"You're so beautiful." Booker smiled, not believing he had been with his daughter and never knew. "I'm so proud of who you've become."

Abbie laughed happily, letting a few tears drop down her cheeks. "I never imagined this is how I would find you."
