Without any further ado, I present Chapter 23 of Our Story! Sorry for any mistakes, I was quickly typing this chapter. If there are any blanks then oops xD
Previously on Chapter 22:
"Because you told everyone that I went to Arizona when you promised not to tell anyone!" I exclaimed while throwing my arms up in the air.
"Sorwey," Finnick apologized in a baby's voice while fluttering his eyes.
"Apology accepted, but the next time you do that, I'm not accepting your apology," I stated firmly. He placed his hand over his heart and put on a sad face. "Oh stop being a baby Finnick."
"Shut up," he stuck his tongue out at me and I did the same. I could already tell today was going to be interesting.
XXX
It turned out that I was wrong. Heather, who everyone (but Glimmer and I) thought was Glimmer, didn't show up to school today. I was actually bummed, I was going to confront her, but since she wasn't here, I couldn't.
The school day was like another other: boring. I almost fell asleep in every one of my classes. After what felt like weeks of being trapped in school, the last bell of the day rang, signaling that last period was over and it was time to go home.
I slightly hobbled to my locker because my foot fell asleep during History. I opened up my locker and shoved my things inside, then grabbed what I needed. When I shut the door, something felt weird. Then I hit me: Cato didn't come for his daily school day visit to my locker. I was relieved. No Cato stress today! I celebrated happily in my head while I walked to my car.
I was so focused on celebrating that I didn't notice the presence near my car. It startled me when I finally realized that I wasn't alone in the parking lot. Leaning on my car was none other than the heartthrob of the school aka my best friend, Finnick Odair. He smiled when he saw me.
"Hey Kitty-Kat!" Finnick greeted with a cheeky grin plastered on his face.
"What are you doing here?" I asked bluntly.
"No hello? Or I love you Finnick, why is your holy present near my car? Okay then," Finnick pouted and crossed his arms.
"I hate to break it to you but no, I'm never going to saying that. Now tell me why you're leaning on my car," I demanded.
"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to hang out today? I would have done it with Annie but she's busy with swim stuff," Finnick told me.
"And you're not?" I questioned. Annie and Finnick are both on the swim team and I was surprised that Finnick wasn't busy with swimming and Annie was.
"Oh Kat, look at me," Finnick said, "my body is fit for swimming. I don't need practice."
"So you're saying Annie is a terrible swimmer?" I smugly asked.
"Oh no, I didn't mean it like that. Annie is a wonderful swimmer, but she's not a natural like me," Finnick cockily smirked.
"Mhm mhm, sure," I agreed sarcastically.
"So, what do you say about hanging out with me today? Are you in or out?" Finnick asked.
"I'm in," I replied, and then smiled.
"YES!" Finnick exclaimed. "Where do you want to go?"
"Um, I still have some homework I need to finish, so Starbucks?" I said.
"Sure, I also have to finish my homework too," Finnick agreed.
"I'll meet you at the nearest Starbucks from here, okay?" I said while getting into my car.
"Okay!" Finnick yelled as he walked towards his car.
Starbucks was crowded with a ton of people. I was so glad that I didn't work there anymore. If I did, I'd be working my butt off. I actually felt really bad for the workers there who were scrambling to make the drinks. They work so hard.
Finnick beat me to Starbucks and already got us a table. When I got close to our table, Finnick stood up and pulled out my chair for me.
"Welcome Ms. Everdeen, please take a seat," he said in a smooth, silky voice.
"Why thank you, Mr. Odair," I politely replied and sat down, trying not to laugh. We probably looked like idiots right now, but I didn't care.
"What would you like to drink? It's on me today," Finnick asked, still keeping up the weird fancy talk.
"The Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino sounds quite delightful," I said elegantly.
"Alright, I'll be back with your drink madam," Finnick replied, then got out of his seat and stood in line. While I was waiting for Finnick to come back, I took out my homework and placed it on the table. I had to do Math, History, and English. All my favorite subjects, joy.
When Finnick came back with our drinks, his handed my drink to me and he put his on the table. We ordered the exact same thing
"Here you go miss. This came fresh out of the blender. It's nice and cold. Just the way you like it. It even has your name on it, see?" Finnick pointed to where my name was written. In neat, girly handwriting, it said: Mrs. Odair 3
I just stared at it for a few seconds. Then I said, "Haha, very fun Odair. But we're not married. You should give this to your wife." I pushed my drink towards him.
"What are you talking about?" he asked innocently.
"Stop lying to me, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Mrs. Odair, really?"
"What?! The lady wrote that?!" Finnick asked in fake disbelief, "She must have thought you were my wife. I guess we're married now so, come here wifey!" Finnick got out of his chair and hugged me tightly.
"Get off of me! If you don't, I will kick you in the place where the sun does not shine," I threatened. He immediately let go of me and walked back to his seat. I glanced at Finnick's drink. On the name part, in the same girl handwriting, it said: Miss Kitty-Kat
"Finnick, give me my drink," I demanded.
"Your drink is right in front of you. Are you blind?" Finnick asked.
"No because I can see that my nickname is clearly written on your cup," I told him.
"You caught me," Finnick sighed in defeat. He hung his head low and passed my drink over to me. "Okay now going back on course. Let's start on our homework. What do you have?"
"English, Math, and History. You?"
"Same," Finnick replied.
"Great! Now we can help each other on our homework that way we can get this done faster," I happily said.
"Let's do math first,"
"Okay,"
After a couple of hours we finally finished our homework. Finnick and I sighed.
"Where do you want to go now?" I asked Finnick since I chose before.
"The pool!" he exclaimed.
"Okay, but I need to go home and get my swimsuit," I told him.
"I'll drive home with you and then we can just take my car to the pool. Sound good?"
"Awesome, let's go!" I shouted. Finnick rushed to his car.
"Race you!" he screamed then hopped in at the same exact time I did. Finnick was out of the parking lot in an instant. Dang he's fast.
I took the short cut to my house and managed to beat Finnick. I ran inside my house with my backpack. Inside, Prim was watching TV and Uncle Haymitch was listening to something on the computer.
"Hey Little Duck!" I exclaimed.
"Katniss!" Prim got off the couch and ran over to hug me.
"I'm going with Finnick to the pool, tell Uncle Haymitch that I'll be back before eleven tonight, okay?" I told her.
'Okay, have fun," Prim said with a grin.
"Thank you Little Duck, now don't cause trouble," I warned while slightly ruffling her hair.
"I won't because I'm a good girl," she proud announced. "Wear your green swimsuit!" Prim yelled as I went upstairs.
I took out my phone from my backpack, threw the backpack on my bed, quickly grabbed my sunglasses, sunscreen, and some regular clothes and stuffed them all in a beach bag. Then, I put on my simple forest green bikini and tossed on a plain black hoodie and white shorts. After, I walked downstairs and slipped on my sandals.
"Bye Katniss! Don't have too much fun!" Prim teased as I walked out the door.
"Bye!" I yelled.
When I got outside, Finnick was already waiting for me in his car. I opened the door to his car and sat on the shotgun seat. I put on my sunglasses and sat back.
"You ready?" Finnick asked in a happy tone.
"Yup," I replied, smiling.
"Here we go!" Finnick exclaimed while starting up his car, and then backing out of his driveway.
Once we got out of the car, Finnick immediately stripped off his shirt and ran to the pool. I blushed at his boldness. I also got self-conscious when I'm wearing only my swimsuit.
He kicked off his shoes near a white poolside chair and then sat on it, waiting for me. I looked around. There was nobody here except Finnick and me. I threw my stuff on the chair beside Finnick and then timidly took of my hoodie and shorts. I felt a pair of eyes watching me, I turned around and sure enough, there was. Finnick was staring at me with his mouth with open and his ogling eyes roaming my body.
"Hey Fish Boy," I started, "my eyes are up here, not at whatever you're looking at." I pointed towards my eyes. Finnick broke out of his trance and looked up.
"It's not my fault that I like what I see," he retorted playfully. I slapped him on the arm, receiving an 'ow' from Finnick. He rubbed the red spot that I like and excused himself to go to the bathroom. I just laughed and began putting on sunscreen on myself. After I was finished, I laid down on the chair, slipped on my sunglasses and close my eyes. I sighed as my skin was soaking up the sun. It felt nice.
Suddenly, someone lifted me up and threw over their shoulder. I screamed in surprise. I immediately opened my eyes. All I could see was their sea-green swim trunks. Finnick. I growled. He took off my sunglasses and placed them on the table near the chair that I was resting on a few minutes ago. I started to kick and scream.
"FINNICK ODAIR, PUT ME DOWN RIGHT NOW!" I shouted at the top of my lungs while clawing at his back. Of course, he didn't listen to me and ran. He slowed sown once we got near something. I could hear the splashing of water. I knew what he was going to do. Wasting no time, Finnick carried me bridal style and then began to swing me back and forth in his arms.
"1!" he shouted, still swinging me.
"If you throw me in, I swear I will get you back, and it won't be good!" I threatened loudly.
"2!" he smirked and I growled. "3!" he swing his arms one last time and let me go, causing me to fly into the pool. What he didn't know was that I had a few tricks of my own.
I plunged deep down into the clear, refreshing, crisp water. As I surfaced, I pretended to gasp for breath.
"Finnick!" I yelled as I struggled to keep my head above water. "I can't swim!" I held out my arm as if someone was going to grab me, then with one more gasp, I sunk down.
"Oh crap," I heard Finnick mumbled. I closed my eyes and let the water move me.
I heard a huge splash of water, telling me that Finnick just dived into the pool. He searched for me frantically, scanning underwater until he saw my sinking body. He quickly swam towards me reaching out his hand to grasp mine. Then he pulled me up, hauled me out of the water, and place me face up on the dry concrete. My eyes were still closed.
"Stay with me Katniss," he said while putting his ear near my heart, trying to listen for a heartbeat. I creaked open my eyes a little bit and saw that he was almost on the verge of tears. His eyes were glassy. "I'm so sorry Katniss, I didn't mean to do that. I didn't know that you couldn't swim. Please don't leave me, you're the most perfect friend anyone could have," he rambled. I faintly smiled at the last part. I decided that it was time to put Fish Boy out of his sorrow. I fake coughed then gasped for air. Opening my eyes, I softly said:
"You saved me."
"Are you okay?" Finnick asked in a worried tone. He stroked my hair, the way parents do when they are trying to comfort their child. I noticed that he was on the edge of the pool. It's payback time.
"No," I pouted, "but I will be after this." I smirked and then shoved him into the water. As he plopped into the pool, I yelled, "Oh and by the way, I know how to swim!"
"What was that for?!" Finnick said as he resurfaced.
"For trying to ki-" I replied but was cut off when he grabbed my arm and yanked my down into the pool. And once again, I plunged into the water.
"Gotcha," he smiled, which caused me to scowl. He noticed my frown. "Hey. Turn that frown upside down."
"No," I stubbornly replied and turned away from him.
"I know what will," he whispered. I turned around, facing him. His sea-green eyes stared back into my gray ones.
"Try me," I challenged.
Then I heard the door, which people take to get inside the pool area, creak. I turned my head in the direction of the door to see who it was. I saw a flash of blond hair and another flash of blond hair. One of the blonds was a boy and the other one was a girl. I couldn't really see clearly but the boy, who was strongly built and had nice abs, wore a simple black swim trunk and the girl wore a skimpy pink bikini. I looked closer and recognized their faces. It was none other than Cato and Cashmere. "Why is Cato here? I feel like wherever I go, he goes too," I groaned in my mind.
Cato quickly turned his head and glanced my direction. Shit. I was about to hide my face, but then I felt someone splashed me with water.
"Hey!" I turned back to face Finnick, totally ignoring Cato and Cashmere.
"Hay is for horses Kat," Finnick replied.
"Shut up," I teased. He splashed me with more water. "Oh, it's on," I smirked and splashed him back. It hit him straight in the face and he shook his head to get the water droplets off. "Catch me if you can," I happily said and then swam towards the three feet area in the pool.
"Is that a challenge? Because I can beat you any day honey," Finnick boasted, and then swam after me. I could feel the blood pump through my veins after every second past. I knew Finnick was a quick swimmer. I just had to beat him to the end of the pool. I opened my eyes. The chlorine in the water slightly made my eyes burn. I glanced around ahead of me. I was so close to the other side. Then, something caught my leg and pulled me towards them. The person let me go and swam past me. I raised my head above the water to look for Finnick. He was at the end of the pool, grinning like a fool, that stinking cheater.
"Finnick," I growled as I bubbled in anger. He smirked.
"Told you sweetheart," Finnick smugly replied.
"I would have won, if you didn't cheat," I shot back with a glare. Then his cocky mask completely dropped.
"I'm sorry Katniss, please forgive me?" Finnick begged while batting his eyelashes.
"Fine, if it will make you happy," I said.
"Awe, come here Katniss!" Finnick exclaimed as he outstretched his arms. When I didn't budge, he said, "Fine, I'll just go walk over." He ran over to me and gave me a bone-crushing hug.
"Hey, will you guys stop it with the hugging, giggling, and the water splashing? If you don't notice, we're trying to rest here and we don't need your loud crap going on in the background." We turned in the direction of the voice and my eyes landed on a very pissed Cashmere. Oh. Cato took off his sunglasses and looked at who Cashmere was talking to. Damn it. I quickly thought of some options I could do to avoid Cato seeing me. Luckily, his eyes were still adjusting to the brightness of the sun so I had some time. Since his eyes were almost adjusted to the sunlight, I did the first idea that came to my mind. I ducked my head underwater and held my breath. When I was underwater, I heard Finnick apologized to Cashmere. I knew when Cato saw Finnick because a few seconds later, I heard yelling and happy male voices. Then the rest just drown out.
"What are you doing here?" I faintly heard Cato ask.
"Oh Kat and I decided to hang out today because Annie was busy with swim stuff and Kat had nothing better to do." Finnick told him. I could just imagine that Cato stiffened when Finnick said my name.
"Speaking of Katniss, where is she?" Cato asked.
"She's ri-" when he noticed that I wasn't standing next to him anymore, he closed his mouth. "Actually, I don't know where she is now. She was here a minute ago." Finnick looked around, but he didn't check underwater. My lungs were starting to burn. I finally gave up a stood up. Finnick saw and heard my splashing appearance. "Oh there she is. Kitty- Kat was probably just playing hide-and-seek haha," Finnick joked. Cashmere mumbled something under her breath, probably making a snide comment about me.
"What was that Cashmere?" I asked. She looked up at me and immediately said:
"Nothing."
"That's what I thought," I replied. I turned to Cato.
"Cato," I greeted stiffly.
"Katniss," he greet back with no emotion. Then everything was still and quiet, so quiet that I could hear the water splash slightly against the wall of the pool. Finnick coughed.
"We should get going," Finnick began, "Kat and I need to clean up." Once those words escape from his mouth, Cashmere's eyes immediately brightened.
"Okay!" Cashmere said happily, probably excited that we were going to leave soon.
"Bye Cato," Finnick said.
"See you later," Cato replied back. I just nodded then followed Finnick out of the pool to grab our stuff that was sitting on our chairs and tables.
We went home first to take a shower and change, then I met Finnick near his car. The cool breeze flew as I waited for Finnick to come out. Weird right? Usually it's the guy waiting for the girl to get ready, but in this case, it was the opposite.
I fiddled with my tank top. I didn't like how low the front of was, but Prim insisted that I had to wear it. I constantly had to pull it up. Prim put me in an outfit that Katniss Everdeen wouldn't wear. I was wearing a forest green tank top and ripped dark blue skinny jeans with a small brown leather belt. If I chose what I would wear, I would have worn a simple t-shirt and pants. But Prim told me that I shouldn't wear that because I was hanging out with the one and only Finnick Odair. It's not like we were going on a date or something; he has a girlfriend and I'm not interested in him. We were going out to eat as friends.
I heard to front door creak open. Finnick stepped out into the night, wearing a dark purple V neck t-shirt with a black jacket on and faded blue jeans. When he saw me, his mouth dropped to the floor.
"Wow Katniss…..you look….nice," Finnick said while rubbing the back of his neck. I slightly laughed.
"Well thanks, I don't see how I look different or even pretty, but whatever. You look nice too," I complimented.
"No Kat, don't say that. You look absolutely stunning," Finnick said while walking over to his car and opening up the driver's door. "Get in." He motioned with his hands for me to get inside to car. I opened up the door and plopped down in my seat while Finnick started the engine and backed out of the driveway.
"We are we going?" I asked.
"Somewhere," he replied.
"Well no duh. But where specifically?"
"You're going to have to wait and see," Finnick smirked.
"Ugh. You're exactly like Cato when he kidnapped me and brought me to get ice cream."
"Relax Kat, enjoy the ride," Finnick said while sighing then reaching forward to turn up the radio. A song came up and Finnick smiled. "I love this song!" He began humming the tune along with the radio. With his eyes still fixed on the dark road ahead of us, he said something over the loud music.
"What?" I slightly shouted. I turned down the music and waited for Finnick to reply.
"I just realized that I've never heard you sing. Annie says you're really good at it though," Finnick told me. We turned into a parking lot full of cars.
"Yeah, I'm okay, I guess," I replied.
"Can you sing for me?" he asked.
"Um, I don't know. I don't usually sing in front of people ever since my d…." I stopped myself before I could finish my sentence.
"Oh, well, it's okay," Finnick said. I sighed in relief. He didn't question about what I said. "But I'll hear it eventually, whether you like it or not," he smirked as he pulled into a parking space and turned off the engine.
"Shut up," I playfully glared at him.
"That's your comeback? Lame," he put his hands on the steering wheel and laughed
"Fuck you," I growled.
"Please," Finnick smirked.
"Ass," I playfully punched him in the arm. He looked up at me with a fake pouty face.
"Hey! That hurt!" he exclaimed.
"Aw, did I just inflate your big ego? And Hay's for horses Finny," I recited from what Finnick said before at the pool.
"I see that you're picking up on my lines," he smirked. "You're learning so much from me," he put a hand over his heart, "I could be a teacher, a pretty damn good looking one." He added.
"Haha...sure," I replied sarcastically. "We should get out now; we've been sitting in here for about five minutes."
"Yeah, and plus, I'm starving. Let's go." Both of us got out of the car and walked inside of the large, beautiful mall.
"So there's this really good seafood restaurant that my mom would always bring me to when I was little. It's amazing; their decor is super cool too. I can't wait until you see it," Finnick rambled excitedly.
"Oh nice," I smiled. We walked into the restaurant and my breath was taken away. Finnick was right, the restaurant was amazing. At the entrance, there was a HUGE aquarium filled with beautiful little fishes.
"Welcome to Seatopia! How many?" the receptionist in the blue outfit smiled.
"A table for two," Finnick said.
"Oh, are you two on a date or something?" The women gushed. I blushed.
"No, we're just friends," I explained.
"Oh! Well, then please enjoy your meal!" She exclaimed. Man, this lady is perky. "Layla! Please led these lovely people to their table." Another woman in the same blue outfit grabbed some menus and told us to follow her.
After we passed by the receptionist, Layla lead us through a little tunnel where you can see the fishes swimming around you through the glass. I marveled at the sight. Finnick was smiling at my reaction.
"It's cool right?" he asked. I nodded.
We walked out of the tunnel and we came to a stop in front of the stairs, leading down to the table. Surrounding the stairs was another aquarium, exactly like the one in the tunnel. We passed through a smaller tunnel and stopped in front of big dark blue doors.
"Wait until you see this," Finnick whispered. The lady opened up the doors and the dining area was revealed. The dining room had a dome roof with dim lighting. What was even cooler was that the restaurant was surrounded by a 360 aquarium. Even the ceiling was an aquarium. You could see the fishes, tiny octopi, and shrimp inside. Many people were sitting at the table, chatting and grinning.
Layla led us to a table near the wall/aquarium. Finnick and I sat down and the waitress handed the menus to us.
"Take your time, your waitress will be right with you. Let me know if you have questions, I'm Layla by the way" she smiled.
"Okay thanks" Finnick grinned then winked which made her blush furiously. She walked away leaving only Finnick and I at the table. "So, what looks good?" Finnick asked, breaking the silence.
"Everything." I looked through the menu amazed that they had like everything in here crammed into a little menu. He chuckled.
"Get the one of the specials, they're really good," he suggest.
"Alright." We ordered our food then talked for a little bit about our families. When the food came, I was drooling. Finnick laughed at my expression and I reach over the table then playfully slapped his arm. He shut up after that and then we ate our food. After Finnick paid for our dinner, we went back inside the car.
"Oh! The sun is about to set. We should go to the beach!" he exclaimed. Before I could reply, he started the engine and was off. We parked in a slightly full parking lot at the beach.
Finnick and I got out of the car. He grabbed my hand and led me down to the beach. It was beautiful. The sun was like a huge star on the pink-orange sky, birds were nesting peacefully on palm tree, the waves softly rocking onto the shore, and little children giggled as they were playing in the sand. Finnick let go of my hand when we stepped onto the rough, yellow sand.
"The view's nice isn't it?" he sighed while gazing out into the sky. I continued to follow him until we sat down on one of the beach chairs laid out for the public.
"Yeah," I agreed. It was a nice view. The sunset was simple just beautiful. I leaned back into my chair and close my eyes, appreciating the noise of the ocean. It was surprisingly very calming. Back in Arizona, I was never able to go to any beaches since I was too busy providing for my family and there wasn't any beaches where I lived.
"Hey, I want to show you something," Finnick whispered. I opened my eyes. His face was directly above mine. I could see his little freckles that scattered over his nose and under his eyes. His face was flawless, no wonder why so many girls fangirled over him. What made him even handsome was his unique sea-green eyes, they were so addicting to look at; it's hard to take your eyes off of them. I wished my eyes were that color instead of my plain, old, and ugly gray ones.
"Your eyes are pretty," I blurted out. I blushed; I hate it when that happens. He seemed to be shocked at my compliment, but regain his composure.
"Thanks," he smiled. Damn it, even his smile was perfect. The dimples on both of his cheeks just made it cuter. This man is like flawless. "I like yours too."
"You don't have to say that to make me feel better. I know they look like crap," I said while looking down at my folded hands.
"I'm not lying. I really do like them," he softly replied. I looked up into his tender eyes. "Come on, I still want to show you something." He helped me get up and I followed him once again
As we were walking, I looked at the stuff straight ahead of me, not daring to turn my head. I felt something brush my hand. It was Finnick's hand; it felt like electricity went up my fingers as he bumped his hand into mine. After awhile, his hand took a hold of mine. I was surprised at how soft and smooth they were. Mine were calloused because of years of using a bow. His hands were like baby's skin and mine were like the skin of elephants' knees.
"Close your eyes," he commanded nicely.
"Why?" I asked confusedly.
"Just do it and DO NOT PEEK."
"Okay Mr. Bossy Pants," I teased. His hand still held onto mine. I shut my eyes and trusted him that he'd led me to somewhere safe. It felt like we were walking for miles. My feet were starting to get sore. Then finally Finnick stop and told me to open my eyes. I gasped. We were in a forest, standing right in front of a cabin near a clear, blue lake.
"Like it?" He grinned.
"Like it?" I repeated. His face expression started to fall. "I love it!" I exclaimed and unexpectedly jumped into his arms. He was obviously thrown off a little bit because he stumbled as my body crashed into his. I don't know why I snuggled my face into his neck. It was probably because his body was warm and safe and I have given an actually warm hug to somebody since my father died. We broke the hug and Finnick brought me into the cabin.
The inside of the cabin wasn't so bad. It was simple, but nice at the same time. There were two beds, a small wooden table, and a fireplace in the room. We sat on the bed closest to us then began to chat.
"Who made this cabin?" I asked Finnick.
"My dad."
"Oh, It's nice," I complimented.
"Thanks, but you should tell my dad th-" he was interrupted when my phone rang. I glanced at the number which was blocked. I picked it up anyways, it could have been one of my friends.
"Hello?" I said into the phone. 'Sorry' I mouth to Finnick. 'It's okay' he mouthed back. "Hello?" I said again when nobody answered back. I was about to hang up until a deep voice stopped me.
"Hey Kitty! Miss me?" the voice asked. I cursed in my head. It was Cato.
"What do you want? And how the fuck did you get my number?" I snapped. I don't even know why I was giving him a chance to talk. I should have just hung up and blocked his number.
"Who's on the phone?" Finnick whispered. I mouthed 'Cato.' He nodded.
"Who was that?" Cato asked.
"Answer my questions first," I growled into the microphone.
"Fine, I just wanted to talk. And I got your phone number from someone." I could imagine him smirking through the phone right now.
"We have nothing to talk about," I angrily said. "Why are you calling me?"
"Answer my question first," Cato mimicked me from my earlier lines.
"That was my sister," I lied. He obviously knew I wasn't telling the truth because he immediately said:
"Liar. That was not your sister. Tell me the truth."
"That was my sister! I swear!"
"Stop lying, girls don't have low, masculine voices." Shit, He got me.
"Fine, it was Finnick," I huffed.
"HI CATO!" Finnick yelled when he heard his name.
"Hey," he replied back even though Finnick could hear him.
"Okay, why are you calling me?" I demanded.
"Because I was bored," he lamely replied.
"You know what? This is getting boring. Bye. I'm blocking your number." I hung up before he could protest. I groaned.
"It's getting dark now, we should leave," Finnick said. I glanced outside the small window and he was right, it was starting to get dark. I followed him back to the car and he drove me home. We said goodnight to each other and went into our houses to go to bed.
When I entered my house, nobody was downstairs. Prim and Uncle Haymitch were probably sleeping. I slowly crept up the stairs, making sure I didn't make any noise so I wouldn't wake them up because Uncle Haymitch gets cranky when that happens. I've been through it once and I don't want to experience it again. I passed by Prim's bedroom and went into mine. I got ready for bed then jumped into the warm sheets.
Before I fell asleep, I just thought about what I did with Finnick. The day was fun except for the fact when Cato had to ruin it with his stupid phone call. But other than that everything else was perfect: the way he held my hand, how his smile could light up the whole world, how his charm could make any girl fall to this feet. I think I was starting to become one of those girls. Oh crap, did I just say that? Shit. I couldn't be falling for Finnick. But as much as I tried denying it, I knew I was. I hit my head against the pillow. Ugh why did today have to happen? If it never did, I probably wouldn't have this weird feeling whenever I think about Finnick.
I was falling for Finnick Odair, and I knew it was wrong but it just felt so right.
Finnick's POV
I was rewinding today's hang out with Katniss. Was it really a hang out? It felt more like a date. Everything about Katniss was beautiful. Her hair, the way her eyes burn like flames, her smile, her lips, her style. Man, I sound like I'm crushing on her. I would be betraying my girlfriend, my one and only love. But the more I thought about it, the more I began noticing how much I liked Katniss and how much my current girlfriend is more like a sister to me. What am I going to do? I groaned, fell back into my chair, and put my hands on my face. This was so frustrating.
I was falling for Katniss Everdeen. I was falling hard and fast.
Ohhhhhh. It looks like Finnick and Katniss is falling for each other (I know Finnick is still dating Annie, but he thinks of Annie as more of a sister). Just to make sure this is clear: It is NOT a Finniss story; it's a Catoniss story. It may not seem like one right now because currently Katniss hates Cato with all her gut right now. But don't worry, it will change soon. I just needed something to make Cato and Katniss get together. I'm still trying to brainstorm ideas on how to get them together.
Please review what you thought and maybe PM me some ideas on how to get Cato and Ms. Kitty-Kat back together (; Don't forget, if you are an FF user, you can get a sneak peek to the next chapter if you review this chapter! I'll try to update faster from now on, but high school is killing me.
I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL CATCHING FIRE! BUT CATO'S NOT IN IT SO IT WON'T BE AS FUN. BUT FINNICK'S IN THERE SO IT SLIGHTLY MAKES THAT UP.
