As I said in my notice this will be the second to last chapter of this story. Thank you guys for sticking through this. I didn't want to just leave the story unfinished because that's a cruel thing to do to people who like this story. My writing might be a little rusty since I haven't written in forever so please forgive me if there are mistakes.
"talking"
"thoughts"
Also for those of you who don't know since I never really set a date for Mio's birthday it is January 11th, according to the timeline that is when they reach the island and that day was Mio's birthday. Just an interesting fact I thought I would share with you guys.
3rd person p.o.v:
~~~~a month later~~~~~~
A little over a month since she was kidnapped and beaten, a month since they had three members of the phantom troupe died, and a month since Hisoka had tried to fight Kuroro. A lot has happened in the past month. And most of the details of what happened was kept from a certain pink haired little girl. For reasons only Hisoka and some of the spiders know about. They didn't want to see her hurt.
A girl of about 13 years old sat in her room in an apartment that she now shared with Hisoka and Xander, quietly talking to the white haired boy and her teddy bear.
"I-I still don't believe what has happened. And to not have seen daddy-Hisoka in almost a month only to tell me that some of my family has died…" her eyes were rimmed with redness from crying so much. On the bed sitting next to her was her best friend Xander. They had gotten very close to one another over the past almost two and a half months that he has been here. He sat on the bed with Mio comforting her the best that he could. He knew all too well what it was like to lose loved ones so he empathized with the small girl. He stroked the girl's hair and hummed the song that his mother would sing to him as a child.
She loved each of the members of the phantom troupe as if they were her own family. And having one of her family members die she took it hard. The death that Mio had taken the hardest out of all them was her big brother Uvogin's death. Uvogin was kidnapped by Kurapika. The members figured that Uvogin could handle himself since he was one of their strongest members, but apparently not. That kid had defeated him in battle. They all saw members come and go all the time so it really wasn't anything new to them, but they had felt bad for their little pink haired member because they knew how much Uvogin liked her and how much she liked him. Finally, when Mio calmed down she spoke up again,
"Thank you, Xander for calming Mio down, I appreciate it." She gave him a hug on the side and slowly got off the bed. Xander looked at her puzzled.
"Your w-welcome, it w-was nothing really. Where a-are you going?" He stuttering had improved a lot since he came to live with Mio and the Spiders, but he still had a long way to go before it was completely better. He watched as Mio took ahold of her teddy-bear and walked towards her bedroom door.
"Mio is going to go hang with daddy-Hisoka for a little bit, I'll be back later. You can stay in Mio's room if you wish, though." It was a rare time when Hisoka would stay in the apartment for more than a few hours. He was always off fighting people, and from what he told Mio at the time was he would be going to be busy with Kuroro for a while. He didn't give her many details and would only mutter how he would finally get to battle the many soon. He also never gave her an explanation as to why they were moving into an apartment and that was two weeks ago. Xander smiled at the young girl and nodded his head, besides he would rather stay in her room because it is safer in here anyways.
Mio walked down the hall with her shoulders slumped and in a depressed mood. Her thoughts stirred going in every direction, never had she been this angry in her life, not even when her father beat her half to death did she get this angry. But for some reason knowing that it was Kurapika that had killed her big brother angered her. He was supposed to be her friend and to kill someone she loved like that, it was unforgivable. For the first time in her life, she hated someone… no so can't hate him, he was still her friend, wasn't he?
"I don't understand it; Mio can't hate her friend. But for some reason, my heart is burning with fury over what he has done. I need to talk to daddy-Hisoka about it." Upon reaching Hisoka's door she knocked a couple times then waited for him to answer the was a few minutes before he had finally opened the door and he had a towel wrapped around his waist and is hair was dripping wet from just getting out of the shower. His eyes immediately softened as he saw who it was at his door. He looked down and smiled at her, not his evil sinister smile but a true genuine smile.
"Daddy, Mio thinks there is something wrong with her. I have a weird feeling in my chest and I do not like it." Mio looked up at Hisoka with tears threating to spill over her eyes. Hisoka having never been in this situation before didn't know how to respond to the child. As a matter of fact, how could he respond, surely whatever he was to say wouldn't help this girl now. Hisoka sat there quiet for a minute, he then got down on his knee. Being mindful of the towel he had on, and he hugged the pink haired girl.
"It will be ok." That was all Hisoka said before Mio started to weep and threw her arms around his neck and buried her face into his shoulder. He sat there for what felt like hours, letting the girl cry on his shoulder, she needed this and he knew that so he would allow this to happen only one time. Pretty soon Hisoka would be going out on his own for a while so he had to make sure that Mio would be ok during that time span. So to do anything he could for right now would be beneficial for the girl.
Once Mio was done crying she immediately grew tired and yawned. Hisoka picked the girl up and brought her to his bed. "You can sleep in here tonight if you wish," Hisoka said noticing that she calmed down a little. She nodded her head,
"Thank you, for everything you have done for Mio. I'm glad to have met you if it weren't for you who knows where I would be right now." Mio started to think of all the possibilities of what would have happened if Hisoka had never acknowledged her, or were to have left her to die in the first hunter's exam. All of these possibilities could have been true if one thing hadn't have gone right for her. But to dwell in the past now is not something she wanted to think about. So much has happened to her, some good and some bad. Like meeting her family at the Spider's hideout, or meeting Xander who was her best friend. She would cherish these memories over the bad ones. Because no matter what when life gets you down you should never lose hope and continue to push forward. For there will always be that one person who could change your life forever. Mio started to drift off but before she did so she muttered: "I love you, daddy."
Hisoka knew that those words were directed towards him, to be shown this kind emotion stirred his heart. Maybe he loved this child as well? Who was to say, though he did know that he no longer wanted to push her to fight for his own benefit. He wanted to protect her and keep her safe. This is the first time that Hisoka has ever wanted to protect someone in his life, this pushed him to strive to work harder than ever. To challenge those who dare come between him and his child. His child? Yes, his child. He kind of liked the sound of that. Hisoka went and got changed into pajama pants and got into bed next to the slumbering girl. He wrapped the blanket around the both of them and sat there thinking until he too drifted off into sleep.
Back in Mio's room Xander lie on her bed thinking about the girl and the whole situation he was in. "Know matter the case, I have to get stronger. Not only for myself but to be able to protect Mio. I'm glad that I was rescued from that god awful place, I am glad to have met her and to have my life change so much in the past two months. Without that opportunity who knows what would have happened to me." Xander finally drifted off not having to worry if he would still be alive or not the next day. That night all three people in the apartment slept soundly, they all had one thing in common and that was protect the ones they loved so that no one would be hurt anymore. Who knows what the future would hold in store for them, only time would tell. And they planned on being together for a long time. Only hoping that whatever happens they would be able to stick by one another letting nothing stand in their way, and no one telling them what to do.
THE END
I didn't really know how to end this chapter but hopefully, this works. Also, the next chapter will be a sort of epilog not sure of what yet. And again thank you guys very much for the support. Last chapter will be out soon.
