Mistakes

(Edward's POV AGE 16)

"I need to think of something for Ali and I's one year," Jasper said to Emmett and I as we walked down the hallway. "I want to make it something good, ya know?"

"You could always do what I did," Emmett said.

"I don't know if Alice will appreciate a giant talking teddy bear that sings Shaggy's 'Angel'," Jasper pointed out with raised eyebrows.

"Just do something fluffy or romantic, Alice is a sucker for that stuff," I pointed out. "Anyway I'm sure she'll freak at whatever you do for her."

"Hope so," Jasper said nervously.

"Come on, worry wart. There's a couple of delicious burgers and milkshakes with our names on them," Emmett declared, rubbing his hands together. "So let's go before the diner gets packed. You know how it is on Friday."

"True," Jasper replied, shrugging. "You coming, Edward?"

"Actually I was going to go somewhere with Bella today," I said.

"Oh? Alone? With my sister?" Emmett inquired. "And what are your intentions with her, young man."

"Oh shut up," I muttered, although I blushed. "You know we aren't like that."

"Yeah, yeah," Jasper said, rolling his eyes.

"Anyway, I'll be right back," I told the guys. "I forgot my jacket in my locker."

"Sure thing, lover boy!" Jasper shouted back at me as I rushed down the hallway.

Speaking of, I wonder Bella wanted to talk to me about today? It'd be nice to have some alone time with her though. We haven't had a lot of alone time together in awhile with all the homework we've had and now SAT prep. Well, maybe if we have some time alone...Maybe it's time to tell her how I really feel. Truly, I was in love with Bella. Probably have been since I held her in my arms the night her parents separated. Something about that night made me never want to leave her side again. Then we shared two kisses and I don't know...Things have been complicated and I wanted to do it right. I wanted to wait for the right moment, and since we were going to go to the meadow together, maybe this would be the perfect time I could confess those feelings to her.

I don't know how she'll feel though or what she even wants to talk about. She might just want to stay best friends. I don't blame her if she feels that way, but I'm hoping with all my might that she'll feel the same I do.

Without wasting another second, I quickly grab my jacket from my locker. However, that's when none other than Bimbo Tanya came over. She slammed the locker door in my face and got in front of me.

"What do you want, Tanya?" I asked gritted through my teeth. I wasn't in the mood for her games.

"Eddie, I'm tired of these games," she whispered in a sultry tone.

"What games?" I questioned furiously. "Tanya, for the last time I do not want to date you. Now if you excuse me I need to go. I tried to get away from her, but then she decided to grip to my arm.

"No Eddie, don't you get it!" she exclaimed. "We're meant to be together!"

"What don't you get, I'm not into you," I told her sternly. "So please, leave me alone!" I then tried to walk away from her, but she then decided to fling herself at me. Tanya then went to press her slimy wet lips against mine, causing me to freeze in shock.

Then I could hear Alice faintly shout in the distance: "No, Bella! Don't!"

Oh no. I go to push the crazy girl away from me to see Bella staring at me. I felt my heart stop. Bella just looked at me with the most heartbroken expression I've ever seen grace her beautiful face. Of all the times Tanya had to attack me with a kiss, Bella had to walk in. She'll never believe me when I tell her I love her. Oh God.

"Bella, don't go! I can explain-"

"Save it, Edward," she snapped at me. Oh God, what have I done?

"Bella, wait!" Alice called out as she tried to catch up with Bella, but my best friend was gone before Alice could even get to her. Meanwhile, I just stood there. Frozen. I couldn't move.

"Well, now that's she's out of the way-" Tanya then puts her hand on my arm, trailing her finger up it. I felt the anger rise in me as she did that.

"Tanya, just stop," I growled pushing her hand away. "You just possibly ruined the best relationship I have ever had with anyone all because of your stupidity!"

"But...Eddie-"

"Don't call me Eddie ever again," I hissed. "Don't even talk to me again. I just lost my best friend and the girl I love because of you so go!"

"Tanya why you little bitch!"

I turn to see Alice, Rose, and Nessie looking angrily at Tanya. In fact, out of all three, Alice looked like somehow torched her whole wardrobe.

"What?" Tanya questioned, putting her hands on her hips.

"Oh bitch, ya gonna get it," Rosalie growled, stepping forward so she was in Tanya's face.

"No one hurts Bella while we're around," Alice snarled.

"And if you ever force yourself on my brother again I'll rip that piece of cheap crap you call hair right out of your tiny head, got it," Nessie added venomously. I looked at my little sister in pure shock. I really didn't expect that.

"What? Bella got she deserved," Lauren said in a snide tone as she came to Tanya's side with Jessica.

"Yeah," Jessica agreed with her idiotic friends.

"Oh you girls are going to get the whopping of a lifetime," Rosalie spat as she then put her blonde hair up in a pony tail and took her earrings out. "I have waited eleven years for this."

"Bring it on Hale!" Lauren taunted. She shouldn't have done that because Rosalie then launched herself at Lauren. I watched as Rose tackled her to the ground and began to beat the shit out of her.

"Take this you dumb bitch!" Alice growled, launching herself at Tanya while Nessie decided to go for Jessica. I felt my jaw drop as a huge cat fight broke between the girls.

"Eddie, you kissed Tanya!?"

I turned around to see an angered Emmett running at with Jasper, Jacob, and Seth following close behind him. "You do realize you broke my sister's heart so I'll gladly break you! Friends or not!"

"I didn't, Tanya forced herself on me and Bella entered at the wrong moment," I shot back at him. "Dude, look...I love your sister. I would do anything for Bella. You know me, why in God's name would I kiss Tanya!?" The hot tears started to run down my cheek as I breathed heavily in front of my friends. I could see Emmett softening up a bit while I struggled to maintain my composure. What was I kidding? I just lost the most important person in my life.

"Dude, Edward does love Bella," Seth cried out. "For gods sake he's crying!"

"You know how much Bella means to Edward, Em," Jasper spoke up softly, the voice of reason. "So why don't we calm down here before another fight breaks out."

"Alright, alright," Emmett said, giving me a sympathetic nod. "I believe you man. I guess I overreacted. You would do the same if it was Alice or Nessie."

"I know, and I understand," I replied meekly.

"Not to break up the moment, but let's break up the fight before they all get suspended," Jacob said, motioning to the fight occurring behind us.

"Couldn't agree more," Jasper said, clasping Jacob on the back before rushing over.

I watched as Jasper yanked Alice off Tanya, who seemed shock as she hadn't fought back quite much. Meanwhile, it took both Emmett and Seth to rip Rosalie away from Lauren while Jacob grabbed Nessie off of Jessica.

"Ya! That teaches you to mess with one us!" Rosalie shouted as she was restrained by Emmett. "No one messes with Rosalie Hale, bitch!" That had Tanya, Jessica, and Lauren all running away from us. I could even see Lauren's hair was on the floor. Damn.

"Edward, you're lucky I saw she forced herself on you or I would have killed you," Alice told me as she came over looking absolutely disheveled.

"Alice, I love Bella. God, I love that girl and now because of Tanya I lost her!" I cried out.

"Look, you need to give her some space," Alice said, rubbing my arm gently. "Maybe try calling her, but she's probably going to ignore you. In the meantime, give her space."

"Wait where is Bella?" Emmett asked worriedly. Immediately, I started to panic, what if she went missing now!?

"Don't worry, Angela took her home," Jacob spoke up. "Seth and I saw her in the parking lot. I was about to catch up with her to see what's wrong when she got in the car with her. She was running home, crying..." I then slumped to the ground on my knees.

"What have I done!? It's my fault she's upset like this!" I go to bury my face into my hands.

"Edward, it's not your fault," Alice told me soothingly as she went down to kneel next to me. "Now come on, brother. We'll help you get her."

I nodded as Alice helped me up and supported me. Emmett was still restraining Rose, even though she was growling, while Jacob hugged Nessie. Meanwhile, Jasper placed a hand on Seth's shoulder as they watched us with worry.

"Come on," I said as we all headed into the parking lot and into my Volvo. The rian had got ten times worse here in Forks, making it pretty hard to drive. Alice offered, but I told her I was fine. I think I needed to drive. It helped me keep my mind off of everything as I drove down the quiet streets of Forks.

"Edward...Are you sure you're okay?" Nessie asked me as we drove, breaking the silence. Alice had been in the backseat with Jasper, quietly cuddling with one another. I sighed at that, wishing I could hold Bella like that in my arms right now.

"Not really, Ness," I told her meekly.

"I know, look you just need to tell Bella the truth," Nessie said. "She'll believe you that you love her. I know Bella and she has been head over heels for you probably ever since you two met. I see how she looks at you and you look at her. There's nothing but love radiating off you two. I know you'll two be with together probably forever."

"Thanks, Ness," I said bittersweetly.

"That's what sister's are for," she replied, smiling at me. However, her face then quickly turned to panic.

"Edward, look out!"

It was too late. Some car slammed into my side of the car, causing my car to crash and tumble. I go to brace myself for impact but on instinct I brace myself in front of Ness so she didn't get hit as hard. When the car finally stopped I felt a sharp pain enter my body.

When everything settled, I opened my eyes wide to see we were on the side of the road in a ditch. I blinked, turning to see Nessie was clutched to me safe and sound, just pretty banged up. I then look to my side to see Alice and Jasper were perfectly fine, just shaken. However, I could smell blood. I frowned and turn to see there's blood seeping from my clothes and my head was growing heavier.

"Edward!" I could hear my sisters and Jasper screaming at me, but it was too late. I then slipped into the blackness as the sirens filled the air of our small town.
