Did anyone spot my little easter egg with May's security code? Just couldn't resist putting it in there.

Xavier Institute- Outside Elevator

"Why are we back here?" asked Sarah

"I just watched my friend die," said Jenny, as she pulled open a panel next to the elevator. She had to keep busy. She had to stay strong. Skye, or Daisy, was counting on her "I won't let it be for nothing."

She felt a hand on her arm, as Sarah pulled her back from the panel.

"Is this the first time you lost someone important to you?" asked Sarah "It's hard. I know, when my mutant powers came in, I was shot at by a mutant hate group. They hit my sister, and she died in my arms. For years, I hated the humans for what happened, but I can't hate people for fearing something they don't understand, it was Jean Grey that taught me that, the woman who you saw murder your friend. But this world, it's not real. We can change what happens here."

"I don't know what's down there," Jenny admitted "But I feel like there's something important that we need to find. I don't want to stay here any longer than I have to, but I've learned to follow my instincts."

"If that's what you believe," said Sarah, and she waved her hand at the elevator. The panel lit up, and they heard the elevator coming up from the level below. The doors opened, and the two of them got in.

Xavier Institute- Lower Levels

When the elevator doors opened, and they walked into the lower levels, they were immediately cut off by strips of metal that forced them back into the elevator.

"Are you friend or foe?" asked a woman's voice.

"Friend," said Jenny "My name is Jenny, I'm here looking for information."

A woman with long green hair came into view, a long piece of metal circling her wrist.

"I do not know anyone by that name," said the woman "Perhaps you are a new friend."

"I had a friend," said Jenny, disarming her-self of the weapons on her person as she did so "She and I came to the school some time ago. I was hoping to look through your records to see what became of her."

"That device on your wrist," said the woman "What is it?"

"Put down your weapons, and I'll be happy to tell you," said Jenny. The woman looked at the metal spike orbiting her wrist, shrugged, and allowed it to drop to the ground "It's known as a vortex manipulator. It is able to allow the user to travel through time and space."

"So that's how she gets back," said the woman, to herself more than anyone else, then realised what she was doing "I will allow you to look into the records, but I have a request in return."

"What's the request?" asked Jenny, as she rearmed herself, and walked towards the woman.

"Follow me and I'll show you," said the woman. She led you to what had been the Danger Room previously. It seemed to have been converted into a holding area. A young girl, no more than seven years old with vibrant red hair, was causing several small, children's toys to float around her.

"Who is this?" asked Jenny, as the girl looked directly at her, through the one-way mirror that she was observing her through.

"My name is Lorna, by the way," said the woman "And this girl is known as Hope. No-one knows where she came from, but we found her one day not long after the Phoenix Five took over. There's a prophecy that she will save mutant kind from extinction. There are some that look for her to kill her, to stop the prophecy from coming true. Others want to experiment on her, believing the answer to the salvation of mutant-kind lies in her genes. I, and a few others, just want to protect her, but I'm running out of options. This was the last safe haven, and the pursuers are coming. She needs to be taken away from here. I ask that when you leave, you take her with you."

"You should know something else, then," said Jenny "I'm not from this universe. I ended up here by accident, and I plan to return once I've retrieved my friend from the past. If I take Hope with me, then I have no guarantees that I will be able to bring her back."

"Honestly? As-long-as she's safe, I don't mind where you take her," said Lorna "As long as she doesn't have to worry about looking over her shoulder everywhere she goes, she'll be able to live a happier life."

"Sarah, why don't you go and look through the data about what happened?" said Jenny "If we're going to be taking this girl with us, I need to speak to her first."

Sarah nodded, and Lorna led her off to examine the X-Mansion's files. Jenny entered what had been the danger room, remembering the first time she'd entered it, so long ago, but at the same time not so long ago.

"Hello," said the girl, looking up at Jenny "Why are you sad?"

Jenny sat down next to the girl. "I just lost someone very important to me."
"Oh," said Hope "I hope you find them."

Jenny smiled "I hope so, too," she gently plucked one of the building blocks floating around Hope's head out of the air and examined it "I know you're not going to like this, but you're going to be moved again, Hope."

"Oh, is Lorna coming?" asked Hope.

"No, Lorna is staying here," said Jenny. The books on Time Lords she had read had warned her about messing with the timeline too much, and she was only willing to take Hope out of her time. While Time Lords had messed with time before, she had a strange feeling that she shouldn't mess with this time, at least, not in this time.

"That's a shame. I liked Lorna," said Hope, looking a little sad.

"I'm sure you'll learn to like me, too," said Jenny

"I'm sure I will," said Hope, smiling "It'll be like having a little sister. I've never had a sister before."

"Who are you calling little?" asked Jenny, in mock annoyance.

"You are two years younger than me, you know?" said Hope "Therefore that makes me the older sister, and you the younger."

"If you want to be the older sister, you can be the older sister," said Jenny, a little surprised at how Hope knew her true age, but she'd seen stranger things "Do you have all of your things ready to go?"

Hope gently lowered the building blocks she had been levitating to the ground, then held out her hand. A back-pack flew into it from the darkness like the hammer of Thor, and she pulled it on. Jenny put out her hand for Hope, she disregarded it, and put her arm around Jenny's waist.

"We'll just go and get my friend, and then we'll go," said Jenny, leading Hope out of the room, where Lorna and Sarah waited.

"Did you find everything we were looking for?" asked Jenny. Sarah nodded, and walked over, taking Jenny's other hand.

"Goodbye, Lorna," said Jenny, as she began putting numbers into her vortex manipulator "And good luck."

Hope broke from Jenny and ran to Lorna, giving her a hug. "I'm going to miss you."

"I'm going to miss you, too," said Lorna. Jenny saw her give Hope something, but it appeared that she was trying not to let them notice. Hope broke from the hug, not breaking eye contact with Lorna, and nodded. She ran back over to Jenny, and jumped into her arms. Catching Hope by reflex, she felt Hope throw her arms around her, hugging her. Jenny had never had anyone show affection to her like this before. The closest that she had ever gotten was her friendship with Skye, and the friendliness of Tony and Pepper. Although the Doctor had shown affection to her when they had been together, he had seemed restrained, as if he was afraid of committing himself too much, afraid of losing her again. Jenny felt her connection with Hope as if they were truly blood relatives, though she had only known her for a few minutes.

"Thank you for this, Lorna," said Sarah, holing up the external storage device that she had been given "Goodbye."

The vortex manipulator kicked in, and the three of them vanished.

Xavier Institute- Present Day

It was a small party that came to see them off, back to the world they had come from. Laura had done some modifications to Jenny's vortex manipulator, to make it easier for her to move between gaps in the void, which Jenny had explained was the space between worlds. Skye looked down at the little girl called Hope, who was firmly attached to Jenny's other arm. Jenny had someone to look after now. Someone that needed to rely on her, just as many others relied on her. Skye knew that Jenny tried to carry the weight of the universe on her shoulders.

"Thank you for all of your help, Professor Xavier," said Jenny "I'm sorry for all of the trouble my presence has caused you."

"Not at all, Jenny," said the Professor "It was a pleasure to have met you, and it will be a pleasure to meet you again."

"I programmed a way for us to contact you through the void," said Sarah "But there's no way of knowing until you go through if it will work, so this may be goodbye for me."

Sarah gave Jenny a hug, before looking down at Hope "Now, you be good for your big sister."

"Little sister," Hope corrected, keeping her arms locked around Jenny's, "And I will."

Jenny nodded to the others, and pressed the entry button on her vortex manipulator, taking her, Hope and Skye back into their home universe.

Shield Helicarrier-Present Day

The three of them appeared back on the SHIELD Helicarrier, as Jenny heard the familiar grating noise of the TARDIS, as it dematerialised in the next corridor over.

"Are you sure you want to get off here?" asked Jenny "You'll always be welcome to travel with me."

"And in the future, I might be willing to take you up on that offer," said Skye "But I joined SHIELD for a reason, and while that reason exists, I need to stay here, on earth."

"I understand," said Jenny "And I hope you find what you're looking for."

Something passed between Skye and Hope, but Jenny didn't hear what it was.

"I wish you well on your further adventures," said Skye "And if you ever end up on Earth again, look me up. Always nice to catch up with a friend."

"I wish you well on your quest," said Jenny, remembering the woman Skye had become on the other earth. Maybe she would become that person again here. What would be, even the Time Lords cannot say with certainty. Jenny smiled at Skye, as she programmed the vortex manipulator. She and Hope vanished, as Skye opened the door to the lab, where she knew Fitz and Simmons were packing up the lab, ready for their return to SHIELD HQ.

What did you guys think of this little adventure with the X Men? I know the movies better than the comic books, but there were a few characters I wanted to use that aren't in the movies. Jenny basically replaces Cable here as Hope's guardian, so anything you know about Hope Summers, save her power set, will be pretty different with regards her personality. Sarah Vale aka Network, the girl that could talk to machines in these chapters, is also a comic book character who I liked the powers of. I've no clue what her personality is like. As of this chapter, Jenny is about five years old, while Hope is seven years old. Not sure if I contradict that anywhere else, though, so if I do, let me know.
