Chapter 23
"This is a terrible idea…" I say as I was sitting next to him in the bat mobile.
"I agree… But you left me no choice…" Batman growled.
"I gave you a choice! GO BACK TO BED!" I shouted at him.
He glared at me only to turn back to the road. I growled and leaned back in the seat. The way this ended was with me having to follow him back to earth, and I had to promise J'onn that I would shout for him if there was trouble. Batman was still really weak and tired, but he was refusing to stop working. Something about evil never rests?
"Do you even know where you are going? Where they are?" I asked annoyed still.
"Yes." He said simply.
"Can I ask where?" I asked with a raised brow.
No answer… GREAT…
"So how do you even know-"
"Luthor is leading us right to him…" He said pulling up a tacker screen.
When the hell… When did he find time to slip THAT of all things onto Luthor? But then again this is Batman we are talking about. I won't question it… TOO much…
"I don't like this…" I say as he got out of the car and started to climb up the fire ladder of the Metropolis Picture Store, of all places for super villains to hide…
"Stay in the car… It will keep you safe and if needed you can drive right?" He asked me.
"Duh…" I huffed.
And let's be honest… I'm not leaving him to get himself killed. You have to know me by now…
I climbed out of the car and started up the ladder behind him.
"What did-"
"Either I go with you or I call J'onn to come and get us… Take your pick!" I hissed as I started up to him.
He sighed weakly and motioned for me to kneel low and follow after him. I crouched down and started to follow him as he started to break into the building for us to sneak in.
"This feels like such a bad idea…"
"Do you have a better idea?" He asked as he opened up an air shaft and slipped down first.
"No… Not really… Let's get a move on…" I slipped in after him.
He got us in and he zip lined us down when we go to the main entrance hall, we looked around and listened. It was so quiet, and I got a shiver in my spine.
Batman started walking quietly a certain direction, I gave one more look around us and followed after him, trying really hard not to knock something over or make any sort of sound that would alert anyone.
Well… The only thing to be afraid of were the giant animal and clown animatronics that were standing all over the place. Gross…
Batman made it to a barrier and looked over, there was our super villains… Playing poker… In a spot light… THIS SMELLED LIKE SUCH A TRAP…
"Batman we need to- "
I turned around and there he was... The Joker…
He smiled widely and sprayed purple gas in my face. I started coughing and that's what got Batman's attention, when he turned Joker whacked him with a case.
"No!" I breathed as Batman went over and onto the table below us.
I continued to cough harder and fall on the wall, looking up the Joker as he laughed madly while emptying out the case, it had rocks all in it…
"You… you…" I tried to make a working sentence verbally and mentally, but that gas… Holy cow what was in it?
"Don't worry little girl… We're going to have…So… Much… FUN." He bopped my nose with his finger and threw his head back laughing as I slowly slumped on the ground.
His laughter was the last thing I really remember after that…
TO BE CONTINUED…
Yea, no… I'm not going to do that! Here's more to make up for the long, long, long time I was gone! Enjoy! And don't forget to review if you liked it or saw something that needed to be fixed! Be kind, I'm a little rusty after writing so many psych papers over this year…
Peace out!

Let's Continue the Story!
Luthor…
Cheetah…
Copper Head…
Grundy…
Sapphire…
The Shade…
Humanite…
I jolted awake and gasped. I coughed hard as it was harder to breathe in my bindings. Wait… Bindings? Right… We got caught…
I was under some sort of lamp, in some… weird contraption that was keeping me bound under the lamp. "J'onn… J'onn… Can you hear me? We need help!"
When I got no answer, I looked up to the lamp… Something was off about it… and because of that, I couldn't reach J'onn… Man, he was going to freak out when he realizes he can't reach me either.
"Batman… Batman!" I shouted as I looked over and saw him still knocked out next to me. He was under a weird lamp too… It had to be the thing blocking me from connecting to J'onn.
"Batman, you have to wake up!" I shouted.
I froze when I saw THEM come in…
"I figured it wasn't a dream…" I growled.
"OOOOOOOOH look at this little woman!" Joker pinched my cheek painfully.
I growled and snapped at his fingers in attempt to bite one off.
"Fiery one isn't she? I wonder why old Batsy dared to bring you along?" He chuckled.
"Don't know, I thought it was a field trip." I huffed as I flicked my head away from his touch.
"Sassy!" He laughed as he went over to Batman and slapped him awake.
"Wakey, wakey Batman…" Joker smirked madly.
"Joker…" He hissed as he finally opened his eyes.
"Tala-"
"I'm FINE…" I stopped him from saying any more.
"Just a little head ache from the little gas he gave me before…" I glared at the 'Prince of Crime' himself, Joker. I remember him, he always scared me as a little kid. Not because he was a bad guy, but because he chose to be a clown… An everyday thing that was supposed to make children smile and laugh, but when I saw one all I could think of was him and how he was a criminal.
"Should have known you were behind the trap." Batman hissed.
"Really now? I must be falling into a rut!" He dramatically gasped and slapped his hands to his face.
"What can he say Batman? Clowns always use the same old tricks…" I say.
"Watch it you…" Joker gripped my face in his hand and squeezed hard.
I grit my teeth, but refused to cry out and give him the satisfaction of seeing me scared… I was no longer afraid of people like him… And I'm so over my fear of clowns…
"You're not going to leave them like this are you?" Joker let me go with a jolt and I had a small moment of whip lash… Man, for a tiny man… He was scary strong…
As I stretched my jaw, Joker went to Lex Luthor for answers.
"Why?" Luthor only said.
"HELLO!" The Joker's face twisted into the look of 'are you serious?'
"HE IS STILL ALIVE! At best we can use the girl… But him…" He looked to Batman over his shoulder.
"HE is going to stay that way until I say we don't need him anymore!" Luthor said very seriously.
"SHE does too…" He glared at me.
"Joy oh joy…" I huffed. If I was going to be a prisoner, AGAIN, I might as well start working on my game face and showing that I wasn't going to be part of any plan as the 'damsel in distress', if I had to, I was going to fight.
"Lex, Lex, LEX. Listen to someone who knows. Don't wait… DO IT NOOOOOW." The Joker pointed to a pistol in Luthor's strap. I clenched my jaw seeing it. If he REALLY wanted to kill us off… He could… Question was… WOULD he dare?
"Don't like my decisions?" Luthor elbowed Joker in the chest.
"THEN LEAVE…"
"And they say I'M crazy…" Joker huffed as he rubbed his chest weakly and he sulked away.
I relaxed and raised my chin up a bit.
Good… We weren't going to die… At least right now.
Luthor looked to his crew… They all looked at him, as if saying that maybe Joker was right, and they should do something. At least with Batman. He may have been a mortal with no powers, but he was a mortal who had taken down men 4x's his size and weight, with and without powers. He wasn't one to really mess with, nor just hold captive. It would only be a matter of time before he found us a way out. And when he did, it would be their down fall.
Me? What could a mortal girl like me do to them? They saw me as the Justice League's little mascot… But then again I faced Hades, lord of the underworld, and underwater Overlord who tried to take over the land and sea, AND helped a gorilla city from being taken over by a mind controlling master mind. I was building a reputation for myself now. So they couldn't take me lightly any more either.
"WHAT!" Luthor shouted suddenly.
"Those restraints are pure titanium. They will never get loose. And those stasis fields will keep the Martian from locating them!" He said as he stormed up to Batman.
"Now Batman, you must have some kind of pass key or access code that we can use against your friends. Where is it?" He got in his face and glared into his mask.
Batman glared back, unmoving. "GUESS." He smirked.
"And Joker said I was sassy." I smiled.
Luthor glared at me. "Don't look at me Luthor, I'm just a kid. You really think they would leave me with something as important as a key or access code? I know how to work the stove and that's it." I say raising a brow.
"GRUNDY." Luthor called over to the giant zombie man.
I looked at him and saw him holding Batman's utility belt. He used one finger and tried to get into one of the pockets.
"Dude, I really don't think you should play with that-"
When he tried to force it open, the belt gave off a wicked electric shock that made the giant fall to the ground.
"Tried to warn him…" I sighed as he started smoking a bit.
Luthor looked livid…
"I told you so." Joker sang.
"SHUT UP!" Luthor stormed away from the giant man and toward our only way out.
"Bring THAT upstairs, I will get it open myself." He growled.
The others looked at the belt and Grundy.
"Careful… You never know what might happen…" I say teasingly.
This made Sapphire weary enough to pick it up with her tiara's power. Grundy slowly got up and he looked rough.
"Humanite! Grundy! Watch them." Luthor ordered.
They looked to us and all we could really do is look back at them. If I could get my survival knife… No, Lex said this was pure titanium… I doubt my little knife could even make a scratch in this…
I looked to Batman and hoped he had a better plan… If he could get us from under these lamps, I could very quickly send J'onn an S.O.S.
"Gundy… What is Luthor giving you for all of this?" Batman asked suddenly.
"Money… Lots of money…" Grundy grumbled.
"As much as Humanite?" He looked to the large headed gorilla.
"I don't know…" Grundy narrowed his eyes as he looked to the other villan.
Good start Bats, but will it be enough?
"Look at what you've had to go through; you should be getting more." Batman continued.
"Seriously, big strong guy like you? And that zap earlier? That had to seriously hurt! Is it really fair that he might get more if all he did was just be Luthor's bodyguard?" I edged on.
"Him getting more than me? Preposterous!" Humanite waved his hand as if this was a silly thing to talk about, well maybe to him… But Grundy was a greedy zombie, a simple minded… Greedy zombie…
"Is it?" Batman raised his brow to Grundy.
"Because we think it does sound unfair if you get paid less, you did all the work… and all he did was look scary…" I pushed.
Humanite sat down and started to read the newspaper, his back turned to us.
Grundy growled lowly, then loudly as he started stomping over to him.
"Hope this works…" I say.
"It won't… But this is only the start…" Batman tells me.
I was laughing as I watched the two giants rolling around like toddlers fighting on the playground. They were even yelling at one another as if they were toddlers!
This went on for a moment before Luthor came in and ruined the fun.
"STOP THAT! RIGHT NOW!" He shouted loudly.
They froze, Gundy holding Humanite in a head lock, then he gave him only last punch to the head.
"You two are killing me faster than the kryptonite!" Luthor stormed up to them like they were children, and they even apologized like they were children.
They separated and I looked away from Luthor, trying to be innocent.
"YOU TWO DID THIS DIDN'T YOU!?" Luthor hissed darkly at us.
When Batman gave him no answer, and I was whistling away as I looked up at the wall, Luthor called over the cat lady…
"Cheetah!"
She walked over to us and then to Luthor, "If our friends cause any more trouble… Gag him… And make an example of her!" He pointed at me.
"Whaaaat?" I say faking a stunned look on my face.
Luthor looked at me annoyed, turned on his heel and went back out of the room. Cheetah's eyes watching him go.
She flicked her claws out and hissed feral like at Batman…
"Bad kitty…" I huffed at her.
"Trust me little kitten, you can't trick me like you did Grundy." She purred as she gently pets my cheek.
"Try… And I'm not afraid to hurt you…" She poked my cheek with a claw, not enough to break the skin, but it was enough to make me shut up.
"Noted..." I say weakly.
