A Saving Thought

Neville Longbottom let out a tired groan as he slipped into his seat in the kitchen of Longbottom manor. His blood shot eyes tiredly looked at the wall in front of him unseeingly through his tense body spoke of alertness. A soft groan fell from Neville's tried try lips only to turn into a thankful grunt as a cup of steaming hot tea suddenly appeared in front of him, curtsy of one of the House Elves.

Without caring about it being too hot or caring about the high chance of having his tongue being burnt Neville moved on autopilot, picked up the cup of tea and took a long satisfying sip. A few seconds later Neville placed the cup down on the table only for a much more calmer and awake Neville to look around the kitchen.

"Why won't they go away for?" Neville muttered softly as he placed a hand on his aching forehead, "Why do they keep coming to torment me so every single night for."

"Because the Sretae Maerd enjoy seeing your reaction and they like the taste of your dreams," A soft voice came from behind Neville through it only cause Neville to let out a heavy sigh, he was far too used to Luna suddenly appearing out of nowhere all of a sudden to become startled anymore.

"And how do I get of these Sretae Maerd?" Neville asked as he took another sip of his tea.

"That's easily silly," Luna said happily as she sat besides Neville at the kitchen table, "You just need to think of something else, you can't let the Sretae Maerd win, the Sretae Maerd are not very nice creatures."

"What should I think about?" Neville asked, he was so tired that he was willing to try anything.

"Well with it being only a week away to Christmas I think you should think of the most obvious thing," Luna replied and without batting her eyes she took Neville's drink out of his hands and took a sip of Neville's tea, "You think about why people always say 'Merry Christmas' for."

"Merry Christmas?" Neville asked with a puzzled expression on his face.

"Yes, this time of year everyone is wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and its even written on Christmas Cards," Luna replied as she pointed over to the hallway were several floating Christmas cards could be seen, "Why do we wish for everyone to have a Merry Christmas and not a happy Christmas or even have a wonderful or a great Christmas?"

As Luna's words entered Neville's mind the nightmares where chased away and replaced by Luna's innocent little question. Seeing her friend lost in thought Luna giggled quietly and quietly left the kitchen while mentally glad that Neville never asked about why she was up this time of night for. After all it would not do for Neville to find out about his Christmas present, a nocturnal curtain eating plant that had a soft spot for used tea bags.
