You're My Absolution Chapter 25

Blaze POV

The next morning I woke up in bed alone so I looked around the room to find Silver and I saw him at his desk working on his computer. So I walked up behind him and rested my head on his shoulder and put my arms around his chest fur.

"What cha' working on handsome?" I asked him, giving him a light kiss on the cheek afterwards.

"Oh, just a few final touches from our last shoot. You wanna see the pictures?"

"Sure, I mean I probably should get to know more about what you do for work anyway."

"That's just like you Blaze, giving an answer that's both logical and emotional." Silver said with a smile. And my mom said I was anti-social. "Here they are." I looked at them intently, and they seemed peculiar for some reason.

"Wow, she is pretty. But she looks familiar to me."

"Really? Any idea why?" Silver asked intrigued.

"Not really, maybe if you told me her name it would help."

"Well, her name is Rouge the Bat, she's 25 and just moved here to Westopolis from Angel Island. Any of that ring a bell?" I thought about it for a second and then it dawned on me.

"Actually it does. I heard her name in passing while I was, well you know. It seemed like the people running the trafficking ring didn't like her that much."

"Interesting." Silver said mulling the information over. Then he clicked a few times on his computer and typed something. He did an internet search for Rouge's name and the words 'trafficking ring' "Wow." He said in amazement afterward.

"What is it?" I asked since I couldn't read all that stuff as fast as Silver did.

"It looks like Rouge is a huge anti-trafficking advocate. And she's loaded, evidenced by the fact that she has funded G.U.N.'s anti-trafficking strike force for the last year or so."

"Wait, that's about the time I got free. Do you think she might have been a part of that?" I asked just spitballing ideas.

"Could be. Man, Miles is one lucky fox."

"Why is that?"

"Oh yeah, I didn't tell you, him and Rouge are dating. Turns out he saved her life from a suicide attempt two years ago."

"And you thought your life was going to be like a TV show." I joked and I gave him another kiss on the cheek. Then I was about to leave and take a shower when an instant message popped up on the computer.

"Oh, hey look Blaze. The woman who I sent your writing to responded back." Silver said so I read it.

To: PKSilver

From: VTR

Subject: Interview

Silver, your friends writing is amazing. I would love to bring her in for an interview. Can she come today at 4 PM? Tell her to bring her résumé as well if she can. Can't wait for more of your great pictures.

I was smiling as wide as I could by the end of my reading. I couldn't belive this was happening. Silver's voice finally snapped me out of my wonder.

"So, are you going to do it?" He asked standing up and facing me.

"Well of course I am. This is amazing, and it's all because of you." I told him, looking into his eyes.

"Not all of it, you are a pretty good writer."

"Maybe, but it's mostly you." I said hugging him tightly. "I love you Silver."

"I love you too Blaze. Now, you go get a shower and I'll make breakfast. I've got a special interview recipe for you to try."

"Pancakes?" I asked.

"Better, waffles with fruit."

Sonic POV

I woke up late Saturday morning since I was still trying to regain some sleep from the shooting. I drowsily walked into the kitchen and sat down in one of the chairs.

"Did you guys already eat?" I asked Silver and Blaze as I saw plates with crumbs on them on the table. Sonia was still asleep on the couch.

"Yeah, but I always know to save some food for you. They might be a bit cold though." Silver said giving me a plate of waffles with bananas slices and blueberries.

"Whoa, interview waffles. Well, it's about time you got a real job Silver." I joked.

"Oh screw you, they're for Blaze anyway." Silver said back.

"I sort of figured. I'm happy for you Blaze. What kind of job are you going for?"

"Writer." Blaze said a bit hesitantly.

"Really? Well, it suits you for sure. When is your interview?"

"Four, so I'll have to take the bus downtown."

"Nonsense." Silver cut in. "I'll take the bus and you take my car."

"Silver, I think I can survive the bus." Blaze said back and the two of them just ignored me. I took a few bites of waffle, but then the phone rang.

"I'll get it." I said to no one as I picked it up. "Hello."

"Yes, is this the residence of Sonic the Hedgehog?" A slightly familiar voice asked me.

"Um yes it is, and I am him. How can I help you?"

"Well, I'm Dr. Woodcomb from Westside Medical and I'm calling to say that the results of your paternity test have come in." If I wasn't completely awake at that moment, that sentence sure did the job. But I stayed calm and replied.

"So, what does it say?" I asked not knowing how to feel.

"Well, I can definitely say you aren't the father." The doctor said and I was still conflicted. I was kinda glad it wasn't mind, but I still care about Sally and her feelings.

"Are you absolutely sure?" I asked because I felt like it.

"Yes. I mean unless both you and Ms. Acorn are half monkey, and she already told me she wasn't any part monkey."

"Good, so you told her first." I muttered. "Um, no I only have a great-grandfather who was a monkey." But, I do think I know who the father is now. "Thank you for the information Dr. Woodcomb."

"You're welcome." He said and then I hung up and dialed another number. It rang a few times before the answering machine came on.

Hello, you've reached the apartment of Sally Acorn. Obviously, I'm not here at the moment so leave a message after the beep BEEP!

"Hey Sal, it's me Sonic. I think you would agree that was need to talk so call me back. You should probably call my cell phone since I'll be out of the house. I still don't know how to feel about all this, so I'm just going to leave it at that. See you soon." I said hoping she'd call back soon. I had one more person to call and I really hoped she would be home. So I dialed the number and it was picked up on the first ring.

"Hello, Amy Rose speaking." Whew, that was a relief.

"Hey Ames, we need to talk about something. Do you mind if I come over, like right now?" I asked her.

"Well of course you can Sonikku. Just wait about two minutes so I can unlock the door and get ready." She told me.

"Okay, I can do that. See you soon. And I still love ya Ames."

"Love you too Sonikku. Tee, hee, that rhymes." Amy said cheerfully as she hung up. Things are looking up for us I think.
