Big thanks to my two reviewers last chapter, this story is getting kind of slow as far as reviews and follows, I may or may not put this one on hold while I finish up my Happy fic that seems to be going a lot better.
I do not own SOA only Aleah Jess and Carter.
Chapter 24
I was getting drowsy when the guys came back. It was late, very late. No matter how tired I felt, Juice looked exhausted. "You ready to go home?" He asked his voice thick with tiredness.
"God yes. I was about to fall asleep in here. Everything ok?" I crawled off of the bed in his dorm room yawning.
Juice shook his head rubbing his face. "We'll talk at home." He sighed nudging our bag with his boot shoving it under the bed. "Carter and Jess don't live as close as we do, they have to stay. I told them they could stay in here. She's not feelin too good."
I nodded, I'd noticed the uncomfortable looks she had on her face all afternoon, the way she kept shifting around. She was huge by now, 8 months pregnant if I remembered correctly. "That's fine. Do we need to grab anything out of here?"
"No, Carter won't plunder." Juice pulled to him in a hug. His dark eyes were rimmed with red. "Come on baby."
"Hey man… I really appreciate this." Carter said walking through the door interrupting our moment. "Oh sorry…"
"No its fine. We gotta head out anyways." Juice told him nodding at the bed. "Lee washed the sheets and all earlier. You should be good in here."
Jessica waddled in looking like a dwarf beside him even with her baby bump. "Thanks Juice." She managed to say without looking like she wanted to murder him.
Juice looked surprised at her graciousness. "No problem. I'll see you in the morning bro." They did a little guy handshake with a clap on the back. "You sure the mutt is okay with you?"
"Yeah. Jess will look after him." Carter grinned, I noticed then that Jess had led Gizmo in on his leash. I'd forgotten about him running around the clubhouse, Kozik had taken a liking to him and had been feeding him bites of the sandwiches me and other girls had made. Plus the kids had been entertained with him during this never ending day. "Later Lee."
I waved bye to him, following Juice out of the room without speaking to Jessica. We'd avoided each other all day, she'd stuck to Lyla and I'd stuck to Abel and Tara, every now I'd go talk to Mom, Mary, and the older crow eaters. A pretty relaxed laid back day. Juice grabbed my hand when we walked into the main room surprising me. These guys weren't usually big on affection in front of each other unless it was a blowjob at a party.
"You kids be careful. Take care of her." Mom ordered Juice giving him a warning with her eyes. "This one isn't made of steel like her brother." A few people around us chuckled, some of them had no choice but to stay here in sleeping bags or on the couches. I felt sorry for them, sleeping in one big open space together.
"You know I will. She didn't get to be my Old Lady because I didn't want the job." Juice grinned back at her.
I looked up at him, eyes wide. Juice had called me his Old Lady in front of everyone. He tugged my hand. "Come on."
I gave Mom a smile, letting him pull me through the doors over to his bike. He handed me a helmet that I put on with a scowl. I didn't feel like riding. I wanted to sleep but I climbed on obediently, sliding my feet onto the foot pegs holding onto him when we took off. I was kind of grateful for the few minutes to think on this new revelation of being a very young Old Lady. By the time we made it home, I was a little nervous about it.
"Let's just go to bed." Juice mumbled when we walked through the door. "I'll shower in the morning or something. I'm sore."
"Is it your back?" I asked reaching out to touch the spot lightly. I looked at him a little bit closer in the dim light, the only one we'd left on in the entire house. "Let me clean you up at least before you lay down. You're bloody."
Juice didn't argue, he just nodded and let me push him into the bathroom to start wiping at the cuts on his face. They weren't bad but they clued me in on what the club had been out doing tonight when Tacoma had left to join up with them. "Is everything over?" I asked softly being easy with his cheek.
"Not yet. Maybe after tomorrow though. Just a couple more things."
I closed the first aid kit and slid it back into the bathroom cabinet. It was pretty much empty except for that. Condoms, shaving gel, things like that but not a ton of stuff… yet. "Good. Maybe by next Wednesday I can get all of my stuff over." I baited him.
A grin fell across his tan face. "Really?"
I nodded leaning on the sink . "Really. I mean.. if I'm your Old Lady and all.. I guess I should be living with you ."
Juice grabbed my hand kissing it since it was closer than my mouth. "Thank you. This totally makes my day. Maybe even my month. I didn't think you'd do it."
"I didn't think you'd make me an Old Lady either." I smirked rubbing my hand over his head tats. "I'm just guessing you've been thinking on that for a while."
"Yeah. I have been. We both know this is it for us. I'm not going anywhere." His eyes looked up into mine, they looked like melted chocolate chips . "And I don't think you're going anywhere either. I told you, its different this time. I'm serious now."
I tugged at his shirt for him to stand up so I could kiss his jaw. "Well I'm serious too. Its just us this time. Nothing outside, or no secrets."
He nodded in agreement, starting to twirl my hair around his fingers. He'd make a knot out of it soon if I didn't stop him. "Nothing outside. No messing around on runs this time, and you can't keep secrets. Deal?"
"Deal. Now lets get some sleep."
Juice's POV
I hated to wake Aleah when I did, knowing she'd only been asleep a few short hours but we needed to get to the clubhouse. It wasn't especially early, but it wasn't late in the morning either. The guys were already there when I roared in letting Aleah climb off first. "I'll be in in a minute." I kissed her quickly going to check with Chibs on where we stood at right now.
She nodded sleepily, probably going to look for coffee, and trudged off. She looked like a kid in her baggy track pants and t shirt. But she kinda was a kid I reminded myself going over to the guys. "What's the latest?" I asked flipping my shades up, the helmet had already been donned and was hanging off my handlebars.
"We're just waiting now brother. Getting it all organized. We'll leave out in a bit." Chibs told me looking grim. "Just a few more hours of this bullshit."
"Yeah, thank god for that." I added dragging on my Marlboro. "I'm ready for a nice, normal day. No stabbings, no selling my body for the greater good, and a nice relaxing day in the garage instead of this."
"Agreed." Opie smirked, coming up with Lyla close to him. Lyla was a good girl despite being in the porn business. She wasn't like Jessica or Ima. She did what she did, but she didn't flaunt it. She acted like any other normal person away from that place, and seemed to be pretty good with Ope.
I offered him my cigarettes when he felt his cut for his, he grabbed one out of the pack thanking me. "Lee's inside." I told Lyla with a grin, I was hoping she could make friends somewhere since her and Jess obviously weren't going to make up. No matter what I felt about her, Aleah still needed someone. Tara didn't exactly count as a buddy, she was here by default of Jax.
Ope kissed her cheek before she walked off inside the clubhouse, turning to look at me he said. "Heard you have an Old Lady now. Congrats?"
"Yeah. Decided it was time to make that distinction. I ain't going anywhere. She's mine." I told him knowing what he was remembering. "Everything's good now. Not many women would come take care of their broken down boyfriend after being shivved."
"Not many women are Aleah either bro. We haven't got to talk much since I got out but she's a good kid. Don't ruin it."
I nodded knowing this was my intro speech to taking an Old Lady, no doubt Gemma would be laying down the rules for Aleah later. The do's and don'ts, the etiquette, and the hardships. The Old Ladies around here had a bad track record so far. Junky, raped, leaving town, murdered. "They make breakfast?" I asked Bobby who was munching on something in a paper towel. We hadn't had the time to grab anything before we left, already running late.
"Yep. A few of the 'eaters and a couple of the girls did."
I tossed the butt down and wandered my way through the clubhouse towards the kitchen. Aleah was sitting with Lyla and Tara at a table holding Abel with a smile on her face. I watched her talking to him, tickling him and kissing his cheeks. She was good with kids I observed pushing the door open to where the scent of bacon was coming from. "This anyone's food?" I asked the blonde that had her back to me.
"No, I just made it in case someone wanted more." Jessica spoke turning around from looking out of the glass door. "Ohh… hi."
"Hi." I mimicked grabbing a handful of the bacon. "You doin ok?" I could at least make small talk while I raided the food. I lifted lids on the pans spying some scrambled eggs, surprised when she handed me a paper plate for them. "Thanks."
"Your welcome." Jessica crossed her arms over her huge stomach.
I still couldn't believe Carter had actually knocked her up. Really couldn't believe that'd been his goal all along. "You're being too friendly." I accused not taking any of the eggs she scooped onto my plate. "You fixin to attack me with a knife or something?"
To my horror, the very pregnant girl in front of me started crying. Howling is more like it. I looked at the open door and hurried to kick it shut. "Hey… people are gonna think I'm in here beatin you or something."
She sniffled, her eyes still wet with tears that were falling. "Why don't you like me Juice?"
Perfect. Just what I needed to add to my day. A heart to heart. "I like you ok? Your Carter's Old Lady as soon he gets a patch."
"You don't like me. I can tell. I haven't done anything to you. But you treat me like shit."
"You treat me like shit." I threw back at her, not taking all of the blame here. "You take just as many low blows to me as I do to you. I'm not nice to people that aren't nice to me."
Jessica wiped at her eyes with a paper towel she had balled up in her hand. "You called me ugly and a slut. It hurt my feelings."
I racked my brain trying to remember when that had ever happened. "What….. I thought you didn't like me because of Aleah."
"Well that too. You took her from me."
I almost rolled my eyes. This conversation was getting entirely too sappy now. "No, she's miserable because you won't talk to her. Me and Carter are ok now. We apologized. We were both out of line."
Jessica shoved a fork into the mound of eggs I hadn't touched. "I was too."
My eyes narrowed waiting to see if it was a trap before I did something that almost hurt me to do. "Yeah.. Its okay. I was an ass to you. I'm sorry."
"Truce?" She asked running her fingers under her eyes.
I shoved a forkful of food in my mouth nodding. "Truce." I agreed just happy to be done listening to her cry. "You ok?" I asked her seeing how she braced herself against the stove now taking a deep breath.
She shook her head, looking like she was about to howl again. "No… go get Carter.. Please."
That was all she had to say before I took off out of that kitchen of craziness.
Aleah's POV
I stood outside with Mom, Lyla, and Tara watching the guys leave. "I'll be back soon. Love you." Juice whispered to me getting his normal hug and kiss before he went to battle again.
"Love you. I'll be here until you get back, so don't let me down Ortiz." I smiled watching him mount his Dyna.
I stepped back leaning into Mom while we watched them all peel out in a loud, rumbling group. "Does it get easier?"
Mom smiled throwing an arm over my shoulders when we walked back into the clubhouse. "Never."
"I didn't think so."
Tara grabbed Carter's arm when he started to walk past us. "How is she doing?" she asked looking concerned.
I watched for his answer, there could only be one person she was asking about. Carter just shrugged his broad shoulders looking like a man that could use a joint. "She said the pain stopped. She's not liking being cooped in that room alone, not moving around. I told her to do what you ordered."
"Is something wrong with Jess?" I asked looking back and forth between them. I'd saw Carter helping her to Juice's room right before the guys left.
Tara didn't answer me, I knew it was the whole doctor stipulation. But Carter did. "Jess will be okay. She's just having a hard time with this, started having some contractions earlier when her and Juice butted heads in the kitchen."
I frowned, he hadn't mentioned talking to Jessica to me. "Did he upset her?"
"Actually no. He apologized and so did she. I think she's just worked up." Mom and the girls had walked off leaving us to talk in private. "She's stressed pretty bad. We've been trying to get everything done for the baby, we have a month." Carter gave me a facial shrug. "I can't get her to talk to me about anything."
I knew what he was hinting at now. He wanted me to make the first move, go talk to Jessica. I'd been waiting for her to do it, but if Juice could do it I knew I could. "I'll go check on her, I know you've got to do security detail around here."
Carter nodded looking over where Tacoma was pumping gas into their bikes, getting ready to leave. "Yeah, Koz told his guys to be ready to head out in an hour. Then its just me, Sack, Piney, and the mechanics left."
"It'll be over soon anyways." I told him knowing I was saying it more to myself than him. "I'll let you know how it goes.
I headed off to find Jessica, half worried she wouldn't want to talk to me when I did find her. I stopped at the bar, going behind it for a shot of liquid courage. I poured a shot of tequila in a glass then thought better on it and doubled it up. A little extra never hurt anyone and lord knows my nerves were about shot right now.
"You really shouldn't drink alone. People will talk." Kozik's smooth flirtatious voice chastised me from the other side of the bar.
"I'm not alone. There's a clubhouse full of people." I smirked raising the glass at him. "Here's to a safe trip home." I tilted it back letting the throat burning liquor slide down with a grimace.
Kozik grinned watching me make faces. "Didn't know you cared about my safety. I thought we were just acquaintances. Making enough friendly conversation to get you in trouble with the queen."
I looked around us, cautious now that no one thought us talking was wrong in some way. "I'm allowed to have friends. Besides, you're the only one not crying or getting me even more worked up than I already am over this shit."
"Well, "friend' how about handing me a bottle of that water while you're back there?" He asked nodding to the little cooler. "And trust me, if there was anything to worry over I wouldn't be leaving with my guys."
"I figured that. Its still nerve wracking though." I told him passing him the bottle of water. " Is it a long drive?" I asked curiously, I'd never been to Tacoma.
Kozik shook his head downing half of the bottle in one gulp. "Just a few hours. Why? You planning to visit?"
I snorted knowing we were walking a dangerous line now with how friendly we were. "Don't think so. Not unless Juice plans on taking me. I don't do good in traffic."
"I knew he was your Old Man." he smirked looking amused by it. "You're awfully young to be tied down as an Old Lady though."
"What do you know about Old Ladies?" I asked him raising an eyebrow. "You said you didn't have one."
"Just 'cause I don't got one now doesn't mean I never did before." He threw out for me to think on. I couldn't picture the man in front of me with anyone except a crow eater for some reason. "You know, you look a lot like your mom."
"Oh… Gemma's not my mom." I corrected him looking over at her making a list of things to grab on her run to the store.
Kozik rolled his eyes at me in a snarky way before snapping impatiently. "I know she's not your mom. I meant Alana."
I froze, looking at him in the eyes for the first time, searching for something to clue me in on what he was thinking. "You knew her?"
"Maybe." He replied standing up from his stool finishing off his water bottle. "Maybe not. I was SAMCRO for a while before I transferred. Might be back though if your Pops okays it. Looks like things are getting interesting around here." His eyes washed over me, making me feel like he could tell what every inch of my skin looked like. "Might need to come hang around with the mother charter. We'll see."
"We'll see what?" Timmy slid up beside him looking between the two of us. "We're ready to go when you are Sarge."
Kozik nodded at him, then gave me a grin. "See ya around little girl."
I waved at him watching the Tacoma guys hug Mom, and Piney goodbye before leaving out. No one had ever talked much about my real mother to me. Dad literally had no pictures of her, I didn't even know her last name. It'd never bothered me before really, I didn't want anything to do with the woman that had let me live the way she did, but now I was curious.
Mom came over to me, hitching her huge black bag over her shoulder. "Hey baby, we're making an errand run. Need anything or want to come along?"
"I'm good I think." I looked down the hallway making a face. "I'd go with you but I think I'll go talk to Jess if Carter's going with you."
"Carter's not coming. We're taking Half Sack." Tara spoke up looking over her shoulder at the two Prospects that were waiting for the cue to go. "I don't want him far from her just in case she actually does go into labor."
I nodded understanding that. Early labor would be bad at this point, it'd mean tiny lungs that weren't all the way developed. "I can keep Abel here with me if you want me to." I smiled down at the car seat Tara had hoisted up.
"I'm taking him with us, I'm hoping the car ride makes him sleepy. He's been up since 5." Tara made a face showing how tired she was because of it. "But thanks. I might get you to watch him when we get back."
"Sounds good to me." I gave Abel a little wave bye as they left, Half Sack tailing after them. You couldn't help but feel sorry for that guy. He'd tried his damnest to get a new ball. I caught Carter's eyes then motioned at the hall showing him I was going to make peace. Or try to.
I paused outside the door to Juice's normal room wondering if I should knock or just go in. It was technically my room too now. I decided to knock out of being polite then turned the knob when she called out "Come in." in a voice so pitiful I knew she had to be feeling awful.
Jessica was laying on her side in the bed, her face pale and hair a mess. She stared when she saw who'd entered the room. I sat down on top of the nightstand, hoping it'd hold my weight and not buckle and collapse. "Hey."
"Hey." She said back, her expression still not giving anything away.
"How you feeling?" I asked feeling extremely uncomfortable. It was funny how I'd known Jessica for 15 years and couldn't hold a conversation with her, but I'd met Kozik 4 times and bantered with him easily. "Carter said you were having some contractions."
Jessica shifted under the covers, rolling onto her back to sit up against the headboard. "Just a few. I'm fine. Tara looked at me."
"I heard Juice talked to you earlier before he left." I watched her face still waiting for something to appear. A flicker of a frown was all I got.
"He did. We apologized. We're okay now." She smoothed the blanket down over her stomach, rubbing it. "It bugged Carter that we couldn't all get along. They're pretty close you know."
I did know. They were closer than Juice was to any of the other guys including Chibs now. And he'd always been Chibs pet moreso than Tig's despite being Tig's prospect. "Yeah I noticed. Sometimes I think they're dating each other instead of us."
"Maybe they can be each others Old Men. I don't know how that works but I'm pretty sure they don't let gays in."
"I don't think so either. Juice's haircut is kinda off already so we should probably keep this to ourselves." I laughed, her joining in with me. "So what else is new?"
Jessica shrugged toying with the ends of her hair. "Not much. Guess you figured out I moved in with Carter. We're living in his parents guest house."
"Yeah I realized that when all of your stuff was gone and there was a stack of twenties on the table." I moved to sit on the bed beside her. "Its fine. I'm moving out of there too. I haven't been able to go back. Its too.. Scary now."
"Guess I really did choose a bad neighborhood." She sighed obviously having no clue about who had really attacked me. "Are you going back home?"
"Nope. I'm moving into Juice's new place. He bought a house, its pretty nice. Too big for just us, but we can make it work." I grinned thinking about the move, excited for it now that things were solid with us. "We're just waiting for all of this to be over with before I pay the lease out at the apartment."
She touched her stomach, shutting her eyes taking in a deep breath. "Do you want me to go get Carter? Or call Tara?" I asked her watching the way she was grimacing.
Jessica shook her head quickly, it was like a snapping motion it was so fast. "No, I'm fine. They're going away its just taking a little while. Emalee is wanting to come early, and she can't. I don't even have baby clothes yet."
Wow… Carter wasn't joking when he said they were didn't have anything ready I realized. I couldn't help but wonder why they hadn't been preparing, I knew it wasn't from lack of money. The club wasn't getting rich lately, but they were making enough to provide still. "I could help you, if you want. Unless his mom is doing that."
"God no… that woman is the devil." The old Jess I knew said opening her eyes up. "She drives me insane Aleah. She comes over every single day and if the house isn't perfect she wrinkles up her plastic nose and says she can get me a housekeeper if I want one, then she tries telling me how Carter likes things. Iron his t shirts, make sure I match his socks so he can find them easily. Fix him low sodium foods for his blood pressure."
I grinned picturing her putting up with that. I couldn't believe she hadn't snapped yet. "I guess I'm lucky Juice doesn't have anything to do with his mom beyond a phone call every couple of weeks to tell her he's alive." And that was if he even remembered to do that. Every now and then he'd sent her money but I didn't know if he even still did that.
"You have no idea. Then she tells me what I should name the baby, and that we can stay in the house as long as Carter keeps out of trouble, like he's some criminal or something. Plus she practically forbid me from telling any of their friends I was in the entertainment industry. I told her Jessica Jenson would make a great porn name." She flashed me wicked grin.
"So other than a monster-in-law everything is good over that way?" I asked knowing already that it was. Unlike Logan, Carter was the good guy he put out for everyone.
Jessica smiled brightly her eyes lighting up thinking about him. "Things are great with Carter. I just wish we could move. He won't do it. He's sucked in by them. They guilt trip him every time he brings it up. They remind him that Logan lives right beside his parents like that nut job is some kind of example to follow."
"Ugh. He really has went off the deep end hasn't he?" I said remembering the last time I'd seen him at his house.
"I wanted to apologize for that too… I didn't know he was… crazy I swear. Carter never told me that. He just said Logan was a nice guy, nothing bad." Jessica apologized looking truly sorry. "He told me Logan won't leave you alone."
I shrugged still grinning. "I don't know if he's still trying to contact me or not. I changed my number." I heard loud voices in the main room and stood up quickly. "Let me go see if that's Juice real quick. I'll be right back I swear."
"Sure. I'll be here." She shrugged smiling when I left the room.
Juice wasn't with the group that had came back. I had no idea what Jax had done but people were clapping him on the back and saying congratulations so it must have been something gory and bloody. I stood back trying to catch where Juice was at, he wasn't. Jax looked over at Bobby. "So where are we at?"
"Puerto Rican's watching Zobelle now." Bobby replied easing my mind a little bit. Juice was alive at least.
"Hey… do you think its okay if I have some of those crackers on the counter in the kitchen?" Lyla asked me touching my elbow to get my attention.
I jumped slightly, not expecting anyone to be behind me. "What? Oh yeah… sure. We all just kinda help ourselves around here." I walked with her to grab them. "Mom or the Prospects make food runs, we try to keep a few things in here. There's still sandwiches or chips and stuff if you're hungry though."
"No thanks. I just need something to settle my stomach." She smiled a little snatching the white plastic sleeve of crackers up. "I feel like shit. I think its my nerves."
"Probably. I think we're all a wreck right now." I sympathized with her pulling two drinks out of the fridge to take back with me to Jess. "Me and Jess are in the room talking if you want to join in."
Lyla swallowed the bite of cracker she was chewing. "Thanks. I can't leave the kids out front alone though and I hate to leave them with Mary. She's already helped Ope so much. I don't want to put them off on anyone. They're sweet kids though, Donna did a great job raising them."
"Yeah she did. Donna was a good mom. Opie's a good dad too." I agreed with her feeling a pang remembering my friend. "I'll catch up with you in a few, I just want to make sure she's feeling better."
Jessica was in the same spot I'd left her in when I made it back to the room. "Here, thought you might be thirsty." I handed her the drink I'd snagged from the kitchen. "Mom and Tara have been gone forever." I realized seeing the clock beside us.
"Might have had to stop to feed Abel or something." Jessica reasoned looking at the time too. "I'm sure they're fine."
"I hope so."
Juice's POV
I knew Aleah had heard as soon as I went to the clubhouse. She was curled up in one of the chairs, her eyes red and puffy when I found her. "Aleah?" I said softly bending down beside her.
"Oh Juice.." She whispered wrapping her arms around my neck crying again. "I can't believe it."
I held her tightly letting her cry it out, giving looks to anyone that dared to sneak a look over at us. I'd hurried here as fast as I could knowing she'd be a mess. Gemma, Abel, and Half Sack were all hitting her at one time and I didn't know if she could handle it. "Shhh… its okay. We're gonna find Abel. I promise."
"You don't know that. He's a baby for Christ's sake.!" She jerked her head away her voice cracking when she spoke. "Get me out of here. Now."
I nodded pulling her up, still keeping a tight arm around her shoulders. Chibs watched us walking for the door and held it open for me to get her out. "You need to take the van Juicy Boy?"
"Nah. Her cars still here." I told him with an appreciative look. "I'll be in touch as soon as I can."
"Just take care of her tonight. Get her settled." Clay had walked over towards us now, his own face set into a grim mask. "Aleah, baby it'll be okay."
She lifted her head to her Dad's voice allowing him a small, tiny smile. "I know. I'm sorry about Half Sack."
"We all are." He took her from me giving her a hug, probably the first time I'd ever saw them make any kind of contact with each other since I'd started dating Aleah over a year ago. "Go on home, there's nothing we can do yet."
I couldn't help but glance over at her every couple of minutes on the ride home. She'd stopped crying, I didn't know if the silence was worse or the tears. "Come on baby, I'll get you a hot bath started. Try to calm down some ok?" I told her getting no response other than her following me to the bathroom.
I cut the water off when it was half full and sat down on the closet toilet lid watching her undress and slide into the water. "Juice, this is so fucked up." She sighed laying her head against the towel I'd rolled up for a head prop. "Half Sack made it through Iraq for this… to go out like that. Trying to save Abel while Tara stood there and screamed."
"She couldn't do anything Lee, Cameron would have killed her too." I told her softly knowing already who was to blame in her mind. "We're gonna find Abel and get him back. We always figure this shit out."
"Did you kill those guys that attacked us?" She asked shutting her eyes.
I didn't want to answer that one. I didn't know if she could take the truth on that with all of this. "Its handled babe. That's all you need to know. No more looking over your shoulder from now on."
Aleah reached up to untie her hair from the pile she'd thrown it into on top of her head. "And what about Mom? What's she supposed to do?"
"She'll make it out of this. That woman always comes out on top. You know that. I just wish…. Shit… I just wish Half Sack wouldn't have died." I leaned forward to rest my head in my hands. I'd never lost a brother before, I didn't know it could make you feel this upset and shitty.
"Where's Jax?" she asked dipping her hair back into the water, I could just barely see her from the position my head was in.
"He's…. around. He's not taking this so great. Tara's supposed to call us the minute he's available."
"I have a feeling things are about to get crazy." Aleah whispered.
I couldn't have agreed with her more. I just hoped we could make it through this without it tearing us back down.
