Rise of Namigakure

Yukimaru pushed a piece of rubble out of the way Inari sitting on the ground behind him wrapping a bleeding gash on his arm Yukimaru offered a hand to Inari once finished wrapping with wrapping his bandages he took the help standing up onto his feet

"So" Yukimaru said "do you think it was the Akatsuki's who set that explosion" Inari shook his head "no that guy with the scythe had us on the ropes" Inari said reluctantly if not for that explosion the Akatsuki member could have finished him the original Akatsuki members weren't S rank shinobi for nothing

Yukimaru agreed with his fellow jonin had their battle with Hidan continued either retreat or death would have awaited them Yukimaru tensed someone was digging through the rubble

Inari nodded having heard it too drawing a kunai the vanished with a shunshin hiding behind the rubble someone was digging through the rubble neither Inari or Yukimaru had any idea how the battle around them had ended

Yukimaru held up his hand Inari nodded the two jonin leapt out from behind their hiding place throwing their kunai only after the sound of kunai hitting flesh did they register who they had hit

Ryo stood between them and a pile of scorched rubble a kunai in his shoulder and one in his left arm "Ryo" Inari said in shock "what are you doing here" Inari demanded "are Maka and Zero with you"

Ryo nodded and shook his head to the rubble Inari and Yukimaru looked near the top of the rubble Maka was on her hands and knees furiously digging through the scorched rubble judging by the ash and dirt on her hands she'd been doing this for a while

"Come on idiot you've gotta be alive you've just gotta" Maka cursed "damn it come on Kandachi" Maka screamed out as she continued to dig through the rubble

Inari leapt to Maka's side "sensei" Maka said looking away from Inari tears falling to the ground "I'm sorry" Inari knelt down besides Maka wrapping his arms around her Maka buried her face into his chest staining his shirt with her tears

Inari said nothing seeing the scorched arm of Zero he wanted to scream to lash out like when his father Kaiza had been executed before his eyes for now Inari swallowed his grief to comfort his student

Naruto watched as medics rushed past him taking the body of a Akatsuki kunoichi Naruto looked away the girl looked to be the same age as Maka

"Excuse us Khan Sama" one of the medics apologized before they continued on their way with the body

Naruto looked around all he could see were body after body the natural beauty of the desert scarred by jutsu damage the fortress they had worked so hard to protect was nothing more than a pile of rubble

They had won but at what cost as far as he could tell nothing but human lives on both sides the Kazekage approached him "war is not easy for anyone Naruto" Naruto nodded "how are you feeling Gaara what remained of the Akatsuki garrison here probably won't stop running until they reach their borders"

Gaara nodded "I am happy to see my nation united again but as I look to the bodies of my subordinates I think to their families and if I will have the strength to look their families in the eye"

Naruto nodded "Khan Sama Kazekage Sama" a Suna shinobi called running to them "Khan Sama your shinobi have found the body of Kaen" Naruto nodded "good take us there" the shinobi nodded escorting the Kage and the Khan

Naruto sat in his office looking at Maka in front of his desk he knew Ryo was behind her and Isaribi was standing out of the way but all he could see was his daughter his little girl and how he almost lost her without him knowing about it

If he had known that Maka and her team had been on the battlefield he would have abandoned Sumaru in a heartbeat to Kakuzu Naruto winced feeling phantom pains from Kakuzu's fists on his shoulder

It was better that Naruto hadn't known at the time Kakuzu was a dangerous shinobi and the Akatsuki were weaker now that he was gone

"Officially I've informed the council that you and your team were as support for Yukimaru and Inari" Naruto began taking slow deep breaths to keep himself calm "and unofficially" she asked

"Unoffically you disobeyed orders and entered a battlefield with two members of the Akatsuki and two members of the Hashira" Naruto began to shout losing his cool "DAMN IT MAKA WHAT IN THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING"

Maka and Isaribi gasped Naruto had never really yelled at her before Isaribi choked out a sob "I just wanted to help" she said meekly looking down at the ground

"yes you helped but look at what that help cost Maka a promising young shinobi could have died and two others could have joined him in the Shinigami's grasp" Naruto shouted before he held out his hand "give me your headband Maka" Naruto ordered

Maka gasped her hands going to her headband "dad" Maka said but Naruto remained stoic his hand still outstretched "Dad" Maka tried again her resolve breaking "Father please" Maka fell to the ground

"don't take it away from me please either me or Kandachi we were going to be the ones to succeed you if he's gone then I need to do it I'll train harder I'll never disobey another assignment FATHER" Maka shouted "don't make me go back on my word"

Naruto said nothing "I am not just your father I am the Khan of Namigakure if any other shinobi had done what you had done should I let them remain shinobi" Naruto said calming down "Maka you are my daughter you know what that means" Maka nodded unwrapping her headband she tossed it onto his desk

Naruto looked down at the headband on his desk before hitting the desk Isaribi was next to him "you did what you had to do Maka can reapply in a year she can earn back her rank"

"No she can't Isaribi" Naruto said "it's an unspoken rule among shinobi I learned about it when I was a kid but when you're dismissed from the shinobi forces you can't come back" Naruto clenched his fist

"I broke my daughters heart I stole her dream her nindo everything I know what I did was right but damn it why do I feel like this"

Isaribi hugged her husband tighter "because you're not just the Khan you're her Father"
