Sharing Chocolate
Teddy peeked into the bag of chocolates, assessing which ones were in there. He knew he'd have to share them with Victoire when she came over and Teddy wasn't happy.
He had fussed over it, but his dad had insisted which made things worse because his dad should be on his side. His dad understood how important chocolate was and how it was hard to share it.
Teddy knew Sirius had bought it for him because it had his favourites in there - the little funny cartons of chocolate edible cigarettes. Teddy liked to pretend he was smoking them and Sirius would always pretend to light them with his lighter. He knew it annoyed his dad, but his dad would only purse his lips and say nothing about it.
There were loads of little boxes of cigarettes in there and Teddy's mouth was watering at the idea of all that chocolate. But he'd only get half of that because silly Victoire was coming over. She didn't need as much chocolate as him because she was only five where he was six and therefore was older and needed lots more.
He heard his dad laugh from the kitchen. "Sirius, I'll never get this finished if you don't stop it," his father said, his tone only slightly scolding. Teddy stayed still, listening. He knew sometimes his dad and Sirius kissed. If they were distracted and kissing, well… Teddy might get some extra chocolate after all.
He listened for another moment, but there was no talking. He didn't want to draw attention to himself by going to check, because they would stop kissing if Teddy came into the room, so he took the silence as confirmation. He slipped his hand into the bag, withdrawing two packets of chocolate cigarettes.
He stuck them into his pocket and snuck back out of the room and up the stairs to his bedroom where he closed his door and hid in the pop-up tent that sat in the corner.
He pulled open the wrapper of the first packet eagerly. At least he wouldn't need to share these two packets with Victoire.
