Someone was in his forest. Again.

He could smell the scent easily, and it seemed…well, relatively familiar. Something that he knew but didn't know at the same time. And with the scent was another, one he definitely recognized. His father. Every demon knew the smell of their father and sure enough, his was there.

That irritated him to now end. His father had his own territory. Couldn't they leave him alone? His red eyes flashed angrily and he snarled, moving to stand and flee just as two forms came into view nearby. He froze immediately, ears twitching as he searched for the wind direction. He sighed quietly in relief, leaping from the tree into another. He was downwind. He wouldn't be found.

But something in the girl's arms caught his attention, and he paused, frowning. She said something to his father, and he nodded as she tightened her grip on the item in her arms.

He tilted his head, not recognizing it for a brief moment. But he recognized the scent alright.

His mate. His mate had used it.

The longing filled him again and he sighed heavily, rolling his eyes with a growl before hesitantly leaping back into his previous tree.

Sango glanced nervously at Inutaisho, who blinked calmly in response. "Be patient, Sango. He is in the tree ahead of us. He's coming. Just don't make any sudden movements or seem to threaten him and you will be fine."

Sango nodded, sighing softly in response. "He needs to hurry. Kagome needs our help and he needs to decide whether or not he's going to help us."

"I didn't guarantee he would go back to normal."

"I know, but it's worth a shot." Sango cleared her throat, then, ignoring the demon's glare, called, "Inuyasha! I know you're out there, please come out. Kagome needs you, she's in trouble and you'll know what to do."

Silence at first, and then a rustling of leaves. Inuyasha suddenly dropped down from the trees, his red eyes gleaming and his lips pulled back in a wary snarl. Sango forced herself to smile reassuringly, offering the pillow to him. His eyes flickered to her face and he sniffed the air slightly, remaining where he was but proving he could still smell it without having to come any closer.

"Inuyasha," Sango repeated quietly, trying to coax the half-demon gone demon. "You recognize this, don't you? Kagome. She needs serious help. Please, you have to come back and help. Please."

He studied her for a few moments, then growled when Inutaisho spoke, though not in a language Sango could understand. He gave a short sharp growl, as to which Inuyasha bristled and snarled in return. Inutaisho rolled his eyes, shaking his head. Sango frowned. "Inutaisho, what are you doing?"

"Talking to him in a language he can understand," the dog demon answered before growling sharply again. Inuyasha froze, his red eyes snapping wide and then narrowing with rage. Sango shuddered, hiding behind him. Inutaisho groaned after a few times back and forth in growls and snarls and sharp barks, shaking his head. "He's not coming," he rasped, "The pup doesn't believe us."

Sango narrowed her eyes, then cursed loudly, throwing the pillow at Inuyasha as hard as she could. He grunted in surprise, then bared his fangs angrily at her. She ignored him, half-shrieking, "YOU'RE MATE JUST GOT TAKEN, YOU DAMN IDIOT! THEY COULD BE HURTING HER! AND YOU DON'T WANT TO HELP US FIND HER?!" When she received nothing but a furious snarl, she shook her head. "Unbelievable. You deserved Kagome's bitch of a cousin. Come on, Inutaisho, we'll find her ourselves." She turned away, starting back in the direction they'd come.

Only Inutaisho paused to glance at his son with a look of sadness. But he blinked when he discovered Inuyasha doubled over. The half-demon gone demon muttered curses under his breath, very regular speaking curses. He grinned, pausing. "Inuyasha."

"Shut up," the half-demon rasped, raising furious golden eyes at the duo. "What the hell do you want with me?"

Sango whirled around immediately, eyes filling with relief. "Inuyasha! You're back to normal! Good, because you should know. Kagome's been kidnapped. Ready to go and find her?"

Kagome's hands were fisted as she cowered further against the wall, her eyes flashing defiantly though fearfully as movement outside of the room she was trapped in caught her attention. Her eyes glowed with anger and she grimaced as she rubbed her sore scalp.

Getting caught after making a run for it was anything but fun. Especially when your kidnappers were demons that could care less if they hurt you. Kagome swore half of her hair had been torn out when they had literally dragged her back and then locked her in the room she now waited in.

"What do they want?" Kagome muttered to herself, burying her face in her arms from where they were resting on her knees. Tears threatened to spill, but she stubbornly refused to allow them to, not wanting to show her captors just how scared she was. "What could they possibly want with me?!"

She was nothing to anyone. She was no longer even half a member of the Takahashi family. So why was she being kidnapped?

A thought struck her but she shrugged it off. No, it wasn't Kikyo. She wouldn't go this far just for revenge…would she? Kagome absent mindedly touched the scar on her stomach from where she'd had surgery years ago. She could remember the pain of the car slamming into her at high speed, and the anger behind her cousin's eyes. But she wouldn't go this far…

…would she?

Kagome gave a quiet sob, touching the fang at her throat, her only sense of comfort. It made her fingertips tingle, but she just clutched in her fist.

The lock suddenly opened and one of the demons stepped in, their eyes glowing. "Come on, you, we've got to picture to take. Hope you're ready to smile."

Kagome scowled, tightening her hand around the fang for a moment before allowing it to fall, climbing to her feet as she shot him a smirk. She wouldn't show any fear, not to him. But then he suddenly pulled out a pistol, pointing the muzzle expertly at her. It was his turn to smirk. "Go on, you first. And if you run, I'm not afraid to shoot, Kagome Higurashi."

Kagome squared her shoulders, exiting the room and feeling as if the gun was pressed against her neck. Upon reaching the next room, where indeed a digital camera awaited, the demon with the pistol glanced at the other. "Got it ready?" He nodded and the first demon pressed the gun to her head. Kagome went stock still, having expected as much, and glared defiantly into the camera, her gaze narrowed with fury.

No fear would be shown.

Her hand tightened around the fang once more.

She'd forgotten something important about it, she just knew… what was it though?
