Neither of us says anything. I look at Heather but she doesn't make eye contact, that's when I bring it up.
Amity: Heather you said Jay was different from how I remembered right?
Heather: Yes.
Amity: Then please explain in what way he seems different.
Heather: I don't think we should talk about this right now.
Amity: Why not? You get me to talk about things that I don't want to.
Heather: It's different.
Amity: How is this any different?
Heather: It just is, so don't worry ok.
Amity: How could I not worry you haven't told me really anything about you and Jay. How is he different?
Heather looks away and starts shaking. I now become really concerned, what had happened while I was gone? I place my hand on her shoulder and turn her to face me. Heather's face red from embarrassment at being seen in this state. Her hair now somewhat messy and sticking to her face from the fresh tears that continued to flow freely. Heather hated crying and showing any kind of emotion that was sad. She found crying in front of others embarrassing and refused to do so whenever she could. I would always be there for her and she knew that. If she needed a shoulder to cry on I would be there to be that shoulder she needed, someone she could depend on.
Amity: What has Jay done to make you so upset?
Heather: He….He told me that he would have preferred it if I wasn't the mother of his child and that I didn't deserve to be a mother at all.
Amity: He was probably joking right?
Heather shakes her head furiously at me.
Heather: He then slapped me and called me a dirty slut who deserved to die.
Amity: But you were drunk when it happened so how could you be a slut if he initiated it.
Heather: If it'll make you feel better I'll go on that double date with you.
Heather smiles and brings me in a hug all the while with tear stains on her face. Jay wakes up soon thereafter, Heather and I let go of each other. Jays face brightens as I come into view.
Jay: Long time no see short ass.
Amity: Not long enough.
Jay: Aw that's mean, I missed you. So how have you been?
Amity: I've been better.
Heather: I hate to interrupt but if you'll excuse us we have a double date to organise without you.
Jay: Well if you hate to interrupt then don't.
Heather: I wasn't asking for your opinion.
Amity: Um guys?
Jay: And you don't need to hear my opinion because I have nothing to say to you.
Heather: Good because I don't want to hear anything that comes out of that mouth of yours.
Amity: GUYS?!
Their attention is now focused on me.
Amity: Jay I'll catch up with you later ok? Heather let's get ready.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Time Skip ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Heather and I are both now dressed. Heathers makeup already done, she refuses to let me do my own hair and makeup.
Amity: I can do it myself you know.
Heather: I know but I don't want you to.
Heather then proceeds to do my makeup against my many protests, after she's done she hands me a mirror.
Amity: I look like an iced cake.
Heather: You do not, it's perfect.
Amity: I look like a cake for crying out loud.
Jay: You look like a cake.
Amity: See I told you.
Heather: There's nothing wrong with it.
Amity: Yeah that is if you want to attract soulless.
Heather: It's fine stop worrying.
Heather leaves the room, leaving Jay and I together alone, I go to follow her but I am stopped my Jay. He pulls me close to him and whispers in my ear.
Jay: I never said I didn't like cake.
He lets me leave. My face ablaze as I follow Heather out the door to our double date.
