Chapter 25: Not Gonna Let You Win
A woman was pacing in one of the unused bedchamber in the castle. She was waiting for new instructions of the next course of action. She has sworn her aligence to the Queen Regent and betrayed her Lady Margery and now she was worried she might have done the wrong thing. They are going to be looking for the person who stole Lady Margery's stamp and she was the newest handmaiden they aught to blame her first. She was trembling now. She had done the wrong thing. Lady Margery was good to her. She did not know Lady Katherine but the folks said nothing but good things about her. She did not deserve this.
The door of the bedchamber opened and there he stood. The man that she did everything for. The man that she would give her life for. The man that she loved beyond compare.
"Well Helena you been a good girl and did all that i asked you to." The man said with a smile on his face and his eyes shining with lust for her making her feel lightheaded.
"I did what you asked me to my love. You know i would do anything for you." She said in a whisper to him as he approached caressing her her cheek with a thumb.
"You are a good girl Helena." He aid kissing her roughly and pinning her to the wall with her both hands pinned above her head. He kissed her so hard her lips were bruising but she loved ever second of it. Her sex was dripping wet for that man ready for him.
He stopped kissing her and looked at her with a look she did not like.
"You have been a good girl but people will be asking question and i cannot have that. I cannot have you talking. You are of no use to the Queen anymore." He said and a sick smile entered his face making Helena scared.
"What are you going to do? Will you hurt me?" She said with a scared trembling voice. She just hushed her and kissing her gently.
"I will help you my love. Nothing bad will happen to you." He said and smiled at her putting her at ease.
"We have to run away far away from here. We can get married and have a family together." She said with a smile and a hopeful look. The man just smiled and looked into her hazel eyes.
"I will take you away from here." He said and put a rope around her neck and strangled her. She was a liability. She needed to be get rid of. She was choking right on front of him those big hazel eyes were piercing his soul yet he did nothing but smiled at her with an evil glint in his eyes and watched ad s life drained from her.
He let her lifeless body fall to the ground. He took her body and dragged it out f the room. No one was here to stop him. He needed to send a message and he will because he loved his Queen and he will gladly give his life for her.
Jamie was pacing in front in the corridor once in a while he was looking at a big wooden door. Behind it lay his wife who he found on the cold ground with her face burned. He still could not get the image out of his mind. His heart was breaking at the though that his wife was now in pain. There was a change that he may loose her yet again. How many more times will this happened?
" I came down here as soon as u heard what happened?" Tommen ran over to them with a worried look on his face. Margery ran up to him and hugged him letting a sob out.
"Jamie found Katherine with her face burned. She got a letter with my stamp on it." She looked at Tommen who looked worried.
"I will promise that everyone who is behind this will pay a great price Uncle." Tommen said and Jamie looked at him with angry red eyes
"I will tell you who did this. Your mother. She hated Katherine from the start and she did nit hide it. I had my suspicion before but now i know for sure." Jamie said and Tommen looked at him alarmed.
"That is a very big accusation do you have any prove?" Tommen said trying to safe his other but still having a gut fear that she was behind this.
"I only have her words said to me but i know it is her. It was not the first time that her life was in danger. It happened before. I bet that she killed Kira as well. I am going to strangle her with my own hands." Jamie said trying to leave but Tommen stopped him.
"Uncle you cannot do that." Tommen held a fighting Jamie.
"Let me ho Tommen. NOW!" Guard were holding him now and put him on the ground holding him there. Margery looked at them in shock and covered her mouth with her hand.
"i cannot let you do that. You are angry and you will do something you will regret later. We will take care of it but you need to stay here with your wife. She needs you." The guards let him go now and he stood up and looked at the door yet again.
"Jamie please you need to calm down. Katherine will be all right. She will get through this." Margery said and put her hand on his shoulder. Jamie signed and looked at Margery, he looked broken.
"Did you see her face Margery, she will have scars for the rest of her life." Jamie said and Margery looked at him with a cross look.
"so you will stop loving her because of her scars." She crossed her arms and looked at Jamie whose eyes went wide.
"Off course not. I will love he just the same. It is my fault that this happened to her. She is in danger because of being wed to me. How can i not feel guilty?" Jamie said. Now one knew what to say to him. The door opened and the old Maester Pycelle came out of the room, he looked at Jamie and looked back down.
"Tell me how is my wife." Jamie stood before him and the old man looked up at Jamie.
"She is alive, the burns were mostly on her cheeks. She will get through this. Although she will have scars for the rest of her life and her face will never look the same. She might as well stay dead with a face..." He did not get to finish the sentence as Jamie grabbed his robes and pushed him against the wall.
"DO NOT YOU DARE FINISH THAT SENTENCE OT I WILL KILL YOU WITH MY BARE HANDS." Jamie roared and began choking the old man. The guard got ahold of him again.
"Go get out of my sight and do not show yourself." Tommen said and Pycelle ran out of there. Jamie fell to the ground and looked broken.
" We will find the best Maester in the country to help Katherine. I promise you. Now go and see your wife. She needs you." Margery said and Jamie nodded and stood up
"Get Qyburn over here. He is the only one that can help me now." Jamie said to the two and went into the room.
Katherine was laying on the bed and he whole face was covered with bandages leaving only her eyes with out it. There was a small whole for her mouth as well. Her brown eyes looked at him with nothing but hurt, betrayal and disspare.
"Katherine my love." Jamie said taking her hand in his and kissing it lightly letting his tears fall down. He looked at her and cried for what was done to her.
"Katherine i promise that this can be fixed. We will get the best Maester's here. I will personally kill the person that did this to you." Jamie said looking at her. He could see Katherine wanting to cry but she was holding it back.
"Jamie on,y one person could do this to me. Only one person attacked me when i was with child in the Godswood and the night i gave birth. The same person killed my mother trying to kill me and now they did this. It was Cersei Jamie no one else." Katherine whispered to him taking her hand away from him and looked away. Jamie tried nit to feel the hurt at her rejection.
"I know it was Cersei Katherine and i promise that she will pay greatly for what she did." Jamie said trying to take Katherine's hand one more time but she refused it. Jamie looked down at his hand.
"Katherine no one blames me more than i do myself and i do not want to ask for your forgiveness just know that i will always be here for you and our children." Jamie said
"Please leave me alone Jamie. I just cannot see you or anybody at this moment. I need to be alone." Katherine said and Jamie nodded and took his leave.
His anger spiked and he could not hold it anymore. He practically ran to Cersei's room. He opened the door to his bedchamber and saw her sitting on her vanity brushing her hair. He face was looking normal now safe some light bruising.
"Well it took you long enough to come here." She turned around to look at him with a smile on her face. She stood up by the window and looked at him with crossed arms.
"You have finally came to see how am I feeling after your wife smashed my face. As you can see no permanent damage is done and i will be fine once the bruising goes down." She said and Jamie was so angry that he could not move. His whole body was shaking with anger.
"You are truly a a hateful and pathetic woman. How dare you act so crass when my wife is lying in a bed with her face burned." He said unable to believe that his sister is the woman that stands before him.
"As much as you want to blame me i had nothing to do with it." She said.
"I know it was you as was the previous incident and killing Kira. It was all your doing." Jamie said.
"Those are very big accusations. I hope that you have prove for that. you have to thing about the positive Jamie. She is a burden. She is the reason that we are not together anymore. This might be a good thing. We can finally be together. Be happy. Together." Cersei said and Jamie in his anger went over to her and held her at her wrist. His face was inches away from her.
"There is no us anymore Cersei and there never will be. You have become a hateful and ugly person. You cannot accept that someone who is younger and prettier than you have taken a place in my heart a bigger place than you ever have. There will never be us if i have any say. When the King see you as you really are and trust me he will i will be the one that will take your worthless and meaningless life from you." Jamie said and Cersei looked at him in disbelief. How can he say that to her? How dare he? Jamie let her wrist go and he could see that there were bruise forming on her skin yet he did not care. He looked at her once more and there was nothing but hate in his heart for that woman.
He left the room and went to find the King but not before sending more guard to guard his children and wife. He will not take that chance and put them in danger. He only sent the guards that Katherine's father left behind. He only trusted them.
Tommen was in the throne room and everybody who worked with his Queen was under questioning. No one is safe and no one will be safe from punishment. No one.
"I will ask one more time. Who was the one that stole your Queen's stamp and wrote a letter. I will punish all of you if no one speaks out." Tommen said walking along the line of women who kept their heads down. One looked up.
"You Grace Helena is not here." she said quietly and put her head down once again. Tommen walked over to her.
"Woman speak up. Who is Helena and why is she not here?" Tommen said and the red head looked at her King.
"Helena was the last one that our Queen hired. She was disappearing at times and showing up from no where." She said and Tommen nodded.
"Do you know where is she now?" The woman looked at Tommen and shook her head.
"Guards, i want you to look for this girl. I want every inch of this castle and its surrounding searched. I want this woman found and i want her found quickly." Tommen shouted and everybody was in motion. He pinched the bridge of his nose. This was a nightmare. When the country is in peace his family is raging war. Is his life ever going to be normal and quiet like when his so called father ruled. He just wanted some peace.
He was walking to his and Margery's bedchamber when he heard her scream. His heart stopped beating before he was running to the direction of his bedchambers. What he saw made his blood still in his veins. There was a woman hanging from the ceiling with a rope around her neck. Margery looked at her with her hand covering her face and tears falling from her eyes. Tommen walked over to her and hugged her to his chest and guarding her from looking at this.
Jamie also heard the scream and ran to its direction. What he saw was nothing he had not seen before but it still made his heart stop.
"Looks like someone did not want her to say what she knew." Jamie said looking at Tommen. One of her handmaiden that came to her from Highgarden and trusted her took her back to the room.
"I need to talk to you Tommen and i need you to listen to me. I know you do not want to hear me but this is your mother's fault. She hated her since the first minute i married her and tried to win me back ever since." Jamie said to Tommen who looked down with a troubled look.
"I know that she was not the best person in the world and had done many horrible things but i need to talk to her before i do anything." Tommen said.
"I need action now Tommen. My wife in in bed in pain because of her. How can you be so calm about this." Jamie said with an angry look.
"Uncle this will be addressed i promise you this but you are angry now and your anger is clouding your judgement." Tommen tried to calm him down.
"Damn yes i am angry Tommen. My wife is in bed with a burned face and the woman that did this to her is in her room enjoying this." Jamie said pacing back and forth.
"Father... Please believe me that the one that did this even if it is my mother will pay for this. I just need to talk to her because i have some thing i need to discuss." Tommen said and Jamie looked at him with big eyes. It was the first time that he called him father.
"Tommen i know that this is hard from you but believe i will be here for you." Jamie said and Tommen nodded.
"I will be here for you as well. Now go and be with your wife. She needs you." Jamie nodded and left.
Katherine laid back on the bed after Qyburn finished attending to her wounds.
"So what are the prognosis, how bad the scaring will be?" She asked fearing the answer. The older man looked at her and smiled.
"Well the good news is that the burns were not that bad and the ointment that i will give you will help you and there will be no scaring left. The bad news is that is is a lengthy process and it will take some time to heal." he putting away his things. Katherine smiled despite the pain that she felt.
"So there will be no scaring left are you sure?" She asked trying not to get hopeful
"There will be no scaring My Lady, you should not worry. You have to use it in the morning and in the evening. Take something for the pain as well." He said and left the room. Katherine was grateful that Cersei will not win no matter how hard she tries. The door opened one more time and Jamie came to the room. He stood there at the door not knowing what to do.
"Jamie please come here. I am so sorry for sending you away before but i just needed time." Katherine said and Jamie walked in and sat down next to her
"So what did the Qyburn say?" Jamie asked taking her hand in his and kissing it.
"That the healing time is long but there will be no scaring left." Katherine said with a tired voice. She looked at him.
"i understand if during that time you do not want to look at me." Katherine looked away from Jamie. Jamie looked at Katherine with a shocked look.
"Katherine there is not way that i will not look at you. I love you with all of me heart. Remember when i said to you the day after our wedding. I will take you as gods see me fit of giving you to me. There is nothing that will stop me from loving you." Jamie said sitting down next to her on the bed.
"You may say that now but once the bandages are gone you may sing a different son." Katherine said.
"Katherine please believe me when i say that i love you and nothing will change that. Please believe me." Jamie laid down next to her and held her close.
"We will get through this right?" Katherine asked him with a vulnerable voice.
"We will, nothing will break us apart Katherine. You are the love of my life." He said and Katherine nodded. She refused to let Cersei win and separate her from Jamie.
