Epilogue
Spring holiday, 2015, in Yokohama…
A blue haired soccer player, who also was the team captain of Yokohama F. Marinos, made his way to the largest park in Yokohama as he had a promise to meet some people there…
It was almost four years after the police captured Rocky, and now, everyone could reach their dreams. Yeah, since six months ago, Kotake was transferred to Yokohama F. Marinos, and in those six months he could prove that he could be a good team captain there. Coincidentally, at the same time, Doremi also got her first job in Yokohama. Exactly, the young teacher who just graduated and got her teaching license last year got her first job as an additional teacher in Yokohama Elementary, so both of them moved from Odaiba to Yokohama since six months ago, leaving their own roommate there.
As for the mentioned roommates, they lived their life as usual, even after they graduated from university. Daisuke still lived in the apartment where he used to live with Kotake, just like Miyako who also still lived in the apartment where she used to share with Doremi. Even so, just like their moving roommates, both of them were also working now. Daisuke finally could rent an empty lot near his campus and open his own Ramen Shop, proved that he could reach his childhood dreams, while Miyako worked for an IT company.
Today, four of them had a plan to see the blooming of the cherry blossoms together at the largest park in Yokohama. This would be their first meeting since their 'farewell' last year.
"Mou, why do you all come late today? I guess it's just me who come here on time," Daisuke complained as he greeted his ex-roommate with his cousin and his girlfriend, "I arrived here about an hour ago, but you three just recently arrive here. It's not fair. I close my shop just to wait for you all here?!"
"Hey, it couldn't help. I had a morning practice today, and as a team captain, I should attend it," Kotake reasoned, "I'm a professional soccer player right now, so I don't have time to play around."
"Alright then, I know you're so busy nowadays…" sighed Daisuke who then glared at the two young lady beside him, "but how about you both? I can't believe that my own cousin and my own girlfriend could be this cruel. How can you…"
"I'm sorry, Daisuke-kun. It's just that, the school didn't tell me that I shouldn't attend the graduation ceremony today, as the teacher I replaced had returned from her maternity leave," this time, it was Doremi who gave her reason as she apologized to her cousin, "Moreover, I also packed my stuff last night, as my job here is over now."
"Did they call you last night?" Kotake immediately asked, "Did they… finally ask you to be a teacher in Misora Elementary?"
"Yeah, they called me," Doremi nodded. She smiled weakly, "Well, it seems like… we should live in a different place again…"
"It's okay for me. Misora isn't really far from here," Kotake assured, "However, I'm glad that you'll be a teacher in our school. Seki-sensei and Nishizawa-sensei will be surprised to see you there, as their junior."
Doremi giggled, "That'll be awkward for me, Tetsuya."
Daisuke sighed again, as his cousin ended up having an intimate conversation with her boyfriend.
"Don't be mad at them. They have their own problems," said Miyako to Daisuke as she tapped his left shoulder, "At least, all of us can come here to see the cherry blossoms here."
"Then how about you? You also come late…"
"Well, sorry about that, but you also know that I have a big family now," cut her, "All of my siblings are already married and becoming parents, so I stopped by their places to visit them before I come here. I wanted to see all of my nieces and nephews this morning."
"Great. So that's your reason, huh…" Daisuke mumbled, "and here I am, worried about the increase in my shop rental fees…"
"Wait, what? So you don't really own it?" asked Doremi suddenly, "Why don't you buy the place?"
"It's not easy for me to buy the place. I wanted to, but I can't. I just have a small shop anyway," he shrugged, "I was just starting my business last year, and I don't have too much money for the fund."
"How much money do you have right now? Your business is going well, right?" the redhead asked her cousin once again, "Don't you have enough money to buy it now?"
"Well, many people come to my shop and eat my ramen there, so you can say that my business is going smoothly, but… I'm still not sure if I could buy the place," the young businessman scratched his head, "Maybe I should find an empty lot which is cheaper than the place that I rent now, so I can buy it and move my shop there, but where can I find it nowadays?"
"A cheaper place, huh?" Doremi thought for a few minutes before she stated, "I just remember that there's an empty lot at the shopping district in Misora, and the owner want to sell it in a low price, but… if you want to buy it, you should move your shop to Misora."
"Actually, I don't really mind if I should move my shop far from Odaiba, but how about my loyal customers? I'm afraid that they would be disappointed just because I moved my shop that far," Daisuke admitted, "Anyways, thanks for your suggestion, Doremi. Maybe I'll think about it someday."
"I know you'll say it, but you should decide it quickly," Doremi smiled, "About your customers, I think they'll always be your loyal customers, no matter what the decision you have."
"I see."
"Anyways, let's we take our lunch now," said Miyako as she shown her picnic basket and a picnic mat to the others, "I've prepared this for us."
Finally, they found an empty, picnic lot inside the park for them. Daisuke and Kotake prepared the picnic mat, while Doremi and Miyako took out the foods from the picnic basket.
"Miya-chan, is it okay for you to prepare all of these by yourself?" asked Doremi as she put some foods onto the picnic mat, "I thought we just came here to see the cherry blossoms…"
"It's okay, Doremi-chan. Moreover, you're just so busy recently, so it couldn't help. I'm not as busy as you anyway," Miyako smiled, "It's so easy for me to prepare all of these, as I could buy some of them from my family's convenience store."
"Oh, alright then," the redhead smiled back, "All of these foods seem delicious. I really want to taste it."
Right after the preparation was done, four of them took their lunch and continued having a friendly talk.
"Well then, Tetsuya is busy for the J-league, I just finished my first job as additional teacher here and will move to Misora to work there…" Doremi resumed their recent activity, "and Daisuke-kun is in dilemma to move his shop or not, but how about you, Miya-chan? It seems like, you aren't so busy now."
"That's because I'm a freelancer, so I can do my job anywhere," Miyako proudly said, "As long as I have internet connection, everything will be alright."
"Wow, that's great!" praised the redhead, "Anyways, how about the other chosen… ones? I mean, you know that I want to refer to the other chosen children, but I don't think that it's still good for me to call all of you as 'children', so…"
"I don't want to talk about those first eight!" Daisuke suddenly cut his cousin's question as he crossed his arms, "It seems like, they want to left us behind again, but this time, they do it on purpose."
"What do you mean with that, Daisuke-kun?" Doremi frowned, "Are you angry with them?"
"Well, actually Taichi-san and the others have a… secret plan, but they don't share it with me, Daisuke, Iori-kun and Ken-kun," Miyako explained, "Actually, I don't really mind about it, but…"
"I just can't believe this! Why do they seem like they want to show us that they're better than us?"
"Alright, calm down, Daisuke-kun," Doremi finally understood, "I know that you're angry because of that, but I think probably they don't share it to you four because… they want to make a surprise for you four?"
"Huh, maybe you're right," the young businessman sighed, "Now I just can hope that they really want to prepare a surprise for us."
"Then, how about your best friends, Doremi-chan?" asked Miyako, "I heard that all of them could reach their dreams outside there…"
"Well… Hazuki-chan successfully becomes a professional violinist now, while you can see that Ai-chan participated in the London Olympic almost three years ago," this time, it was the redhead who explained about the recent conditions of her best friends, "Onpu-chan finally got her debut in the Hollywood last year and Momo-chan successfully opened a sweet shop in New York right after she finished her study in Paris."
"I see," Miyako smiled, "I and the other chosen in our small team took our dinner together just a month after Onpu-chan's Hollywood debut, and Ken-kun couldn't stop saying about how much he proud of her…"
"Really?" Doremi giggled, "That's unexpected though…"
"Yeah, I think he became happier since going out with Onpu-chan."
"Alright, enough about them. I think I want to ask something more personal to you both," Daisuke shifted the subject as he asked his cousin and ex-roommate, "Do you have a plan to get married this year?"
"Eh? Why do you ask it suddenly?" said Doremi nervously as her cheeks blushed, "Moreover, I think it's better for us to wait until a few years later…"
"What are you waiting for? You both already did 'it' more than once, and I don't think you just had some casual dates in these six months," he glared at his cousin, "You're definitely not that naive anymore."
"Okay, I admit it. Tetsuya sometimes stayed at my apartment and… we often made out there… but my career just started," this time, her whole face turned red, "Maybe I should talk about it with our parents first so… we can find the best time for us to get married."
"Huh, you're… I think you both want to get married so soon…" Daisuke sighed, then asked Kotake, "and you, Kotake-san, don't you want to propose my cousin here? I thought there would be a surprise proposal today…"
"Actually, I wanted to, but I can't. I have to focus on facing the upcoming match in J-league," Kotake reasoned, "I also want to join in the national team for the upcoming World Cup, so… I think it's better for me to propose Doremi later. It will be difficult for her to do her job once we get married."
"For example?"
"There would be a rumor saying that I asked her to quit her job as a teacher, then she wouldn't be able to teach her students well just because she should take maternity leave once she got pregnant… Honestly, I want to prepare myself so that I'll have the solutions for those problems once we really get married," explained Kotake, "That way, our marriage will be perfect for all of us."
"Tetsuya," Doremi smiled as her face wasn't red anymore, "I'm glad that you think about it."
"Then, how about yourself, Daisuke?" Kotake asked back, "I think you and Inoue have much time to talk about your marriage…"
"Well, we have time, but I should wait for someone else's marriage first," the maroon haired young man rolled his eyes, "Now, my family are busy preparing Jun's marriage, and she told me that it was better for me to not get married this year. She doesn't want to get married in the same year as mine."
Just then, they finished their lunch. All of them then left the park after they rolled up the picnic mat.
