Author's Note: Sorry for the two month delay. A lot of stuff going on in my life kinda stopped me from writing for awhile. I made this chapter longer than all the others as compensation so hopefully you all enjoy. Let me know in the comments what you think.
Ch. 25
Inside the assembly chamber within the Hall of Origin, broken and untouched obelisks are scattered throughout the enormous chamber. In the middle of the chamber, elevated stone, stretching wide in the shape of a U covers much of the room, the middle of the U is raised much higher and a soft glow of light emanates from on top the pillar. Standing on the U-shaped platform, Darkrai stands alone waiting for the other Legendaries to arrive.
Darkrai sighs. "Even with an immense issue as this we still find it difficult to get everyone here," Darkrai says.
"An immense issue that none of these Legendaries seem to believe effects them," a disembodied voice rings out near the entrance. "You'd think our illustrious creator would at least make sure the first members of our group would cooperate better before deciding to make more of us." At the entrance, black orbs of energy floats from the ground and into the air. After floating for a while, the orbs barrel toward each other, conjoining until all the orbs begin to form into a black bipedal being with sharp claws on its hands and feet, red lines run down its body ending at its legs and arms and runs up its head encircling it's red eyes. Fur covers its arms and legs leaving out its muscled chest. Fur-like hair runs down the back of its head reaching all the way to its chest.
"Cyros, you talk as if you haven't been waiting for hours for the others," Darkrai rebukes.
"I give myself reason for my late arrival, I had to witness with my own eyes the invention the humans have made; a device used to capture and enslave Pokémon," Cyros says. "It's as wicked as the humans themselves, they must be stopped!"
"And what, pray tell, do you intend to do to stop them?" another voice rings out behind Cyros. A Pokémon that looks almost identical to Cyros, only difference being its skin is luminous with blue flames running down its body.
"I plan to make the humans pay," Cyros barks. "I do not understand how you cannot feel the same way I do Margreth. They see us Pokémon as simple beasts to prey upon, and now they seek to use us as slaves."
"Calm yourself Cyros," Margreth says. "I too have seen these devices and I have yet to witness one injure a Pokémon."
"So they can shackle us into forced obedience!" Cyros yells, tightening his fists. "You've been the human's apologist for a long time, but the humans have crossed a line."
"Whether the humans have need of punishment is not of your choosing," Darkrai speaks up. "The Council and ultimately Arceus who will pass judgement."
"But-"
"All Legendaries have a duty to keep the peace of this planet; your duty is to keep the populations of both Pokémon and Humans from overpopulating the planet, no more, and last I checked it was not long ago that you had lowered the humans to a good amount," Darkrai says. "A Legendary killing a human for no reason carries the heaviest of consequences, do well to remember that."
Cyros does not retaliate, merely growling toward Darkrai who stands at attention waiting for the other Legendaries to come as Margreth looks on with worry.
Back in present day, Margret turns her head back to the wall and stares at the everlasting blue blazes in front of her. "Alright Cyros, let us see who is the luckier of the two today." The Gallade's Hyper Beam begins to weaken before stopping all together as Margret dissipates the wall of fire. Looking back one final time Margret sees me and the rest of the team a good distance away from the fight causing her to sigh in relief.
"I did not plan to kill you today," Cyrus says. "But if you insist on staying in my way I will have no choice."
"We always have a choice Cyros," Margret says. "But it seems you and I have chosen two different directions to take. Your hatred against humans and lust for power has made you too blind to see you're only destroying yourself."
On the side of the clearing, Mars heaves the still unconscious Saturn over her shoulders as she and all the other Galactic Grunts hurry back into the airship. A grunt runs over to Cyrus. "Sir, you should come back into the airship where it's safe!" the grunt says.
"I'm perfectly safe where I am," Cyrus says. "Now get out of the way." The grunt quickly takes his leave back into the airship as it shoots back up into the air.
"As your sibling, it's only right I take the blame for what has become of you," Margret says. "But for too long I have kept the regret of that failure from allowing me to fix my mistake and honor my responsibility as a Legendary. I Margreth, the Harmony Pokémon, will preserve harmony by taking you down."
"Then do it!" Cyrus yells. "Take me down! But first you have to deal with him!" The Gallade leaps into the air and swipes its sword-like elbows at Margreth who conjures a round shield of fire to block the attack. Margreth hops back, but the Gallade keeps up the attack and continues to swipe wildly at Margret who blocks attack after attack as Cyros looks on from a distance.
Dropping her right foot hard on the ground Margret lifts her fiery shield in the air and blocks another strike from the Gallade. Standing still, Margret gives out a large grin as smoke escapes her mouth. "My turn."
Running away from the fight, Jordan looks to Mewtwo. "Are you sure it was a good idea to leave Margret there?" Jordan asks. "She could get hurt."
"We have three Legendaries, two of them wounded, including myself, you humans, and the Prophecy who many of us have sworn to protect, so don't worry about Margret," Mewtwo says. "She may have the body of an elderly human, but underneath that is a Legendary more powerful than me."
"If you say s-"
Without warning, a humongous explosion occurs, the shockwave knocking everyone onto the floor. The blast causes my ears to ring as I pick myself off the ground. As the others get up we all turn to see a large blueish sphere back where we all were.
"So she used that technique," Darkrai says. "Using it right at the beginning of the battle, even after centuries of being a human she never changes."
"That's the power of a Legendary?" I ask as I awed at the enormous sphere that reached miles into the sky before slowly fading away. As the sphere dissipates, all the trees that were enveloped in the sphere remain untouched, protected by a barrier.
"It's called Grand Eclipse; a move only Margret can use," Mewtwo says. "A very powerful attack with a large blast radius and Margret was even powerful enough to shield the entire area from the blast at the same time. How much power was she generating all these centuries?"
"Should we keep going?" Ash asks.
"It is too early to tell," Darkrai says. "We should keep our distance just in case."
Margret coughs loudly, going down to one knee in exhaustion. "It's surely been awhile since the last time I used that move, but hopefully it's over," Margret sighs.
"Cough cough cough"
Margret's eyes open wide as a figure inside the dust cloud slowly stands up. "What is the meaning of this?!" Margret shouts. "An attack like that should at least incapacitate a human, you shouldn't be standing."
The wind starts to blow the dust away revealing a badly injured Cyrus, blood running down his mouth, his shirt partially torn off revealing a largely bruised chest. The Gallade remains motionless on the ground, its emotionless eyes remain open.
"Humans have such weak bodies *cough* being able to only withstand a little amount of damage before eventually dying," Cyrus says. "However, with the right technology and the knowledge I might one day face off with my Legendary brethren, it wasn't hard to harden my body for the worst of attacks, even being trapped with the likes of Dialgia and Palkia did little damage, but it seems *cough* a human's body will never truly be as durable as a Legendary."
Margret continues to breathe heavily from using Grand Eclipse, but gradually begins to breathe normally again and stands back up on both feet. "Always belittling humans," Margret says. "All the way to the bitter end."
Back in the past, Cyros stands at the edge of Spear Pillar, overlooking all of Sinnoh. Margreth appears behind him. "Can you believe it Margreth," Cyros says. "Our illustrious creator, the one who gave life to this planet and its inhabitants, now wants one to overpower the other."
"I understand your concern, but I ask that you please reconsider your opinion of humans, I want you to look at the cooperation I've seen have between humans and Pokemon," Margreth says.
"Cooperation?" Cyros says. "Humans do not cooperate with Pokemon. Capturing Pokemon within those devices is not cooperation." Cyrus whips his head back and growls at Margreth. "It's blatant kidnapping!" Cyrus calms himself and returns his gaze to the distant land in front of him. "Humans are a disease on this world. They only take, they think of themselves as the superior species when in fact, their very lives are in the hands of a foolish God who does not see how weak it makes him. I do not see the logic that just staying hidden and allowing these humans to ridicule us will bring peace!"
"So full of hate its all but consumed you," Margret breathes out as Cyrus wipes the blood from his grinning mouth. "That's all that you've become now. Nothing more than hate."
"I am the force that will wipe away this world and its mistake!" Cyrus shouts. "But! I cannot do that without a little help from the very objects Arceus himself created. The Piece of Arceus's egg and the Crown of Creation. Those are the objects that will lead to my dream finally being realized." Margreth continues to wheeze, but can feel her energy returning, little by little. "Even in all your greatness Margreth, you still are blind to the fact that this world is imperfect."
"What you see as imperfection is exactly what makes this world perfect," Margreth says. "The bonds that are formed between the humans and Pokemon. i've seen it at its greatest!"
"Oh Margreth, still spouting on about those bonds," Cyrus says. "A mere fabrication of the very word bond. Those bonds of yours are simply a conjured excuse by the humans. A excuse I will punish these humans severely for." Cyrus growls before turning his head to where Hunter and the others ran off. "They will be the first I punish. Kill them!"
"What?" Margret asks confused before suddenly hearing movement in front of her. Margret looks down toward the Gallade before it suddenly pounces away from Margret who is pushed back from the shockwave. Margret quickly collects herself as she sees the Gallade rush toward the group.
We all stand looking in front of us, waiting for a sign of movement. An uneasiness runs down all of our spines as we wait impatiently for something to happen. "Maybe we should keep going," Brock says. "Who knows what's happening out there."
Tia's, Mary's, and my ears rise up as we hear something faint in front of us. Mewtwo stands in front of all of us and looking far off into the distance sees the Gallade dashing toward us. "Everyone run!"Mewtwo yells. All of us quickly turn around and begin to run for our lives as the Gallade quickly diminishes the gap between us. As the Gallade gets closer it is suddenly blindsided by a blast of blue flames as Margret skids to a stop in front of the Gallade.
"Margret!" Mewtwo yells.
"Get as far away from here as possible!" Margret yells as the Gallade gets up from the attack, its red eyes look at Margret, but slowly turns its head to Mary and I as we run as fast as we can away from the fight.
The Gallade jumps in the air toward us, I turn my head around and gasp as i see the Gallade come at us, its blade-like elbow already ready to strike. Blue flames appear in front of me and Margret comes through the flames and pushes the Gallade back.
"Your fight is with me," Margret orders. "Want to get to them, you'll have to go through me."
"Margret!" I yell.
"Do not fear, I will not let this one harm you or your friends," Margret says. "Now go, become stronger. The enemies you will face in the future will not be merciful and will try anything to stop you…but." Margret turns her head slightly just enough so I can see her face, her eyes are full of determination and a large smirk runs across her face. "I know you can do it, I believe in you!"
Before I can respond, Margret rushes toward the Gallade and begins battling it relentlessly. Both the Gallade and Margret trade attack after attack, neither one allowing the other to gain the advantage. Margret's right hand becomes enveloped in blue flame and throws a powerful punch toward the Gallade who dives under the punch and tries to strike at Margret's legs with a swinging kick. Margret jumps up into the air as the kick misses, but the Gallade is not finished as it quickly raises its head toward Margret who is now high in the air.
The Gallade suddenly teleports itself into the air behind Margret. The blades on the Gallade's elbows begin to glow as the Gallade tries to strike Margret with Leaf Blade. The Gallade swings its attack hitting Margret on the side and launching her back to the ground. Margret lands on her feet as she skids to a stop and immediately prepares to attack once more.
I continue to watch the fight until Mewtwo comes up to me, still holding Mew. "We need to go now!" I look at Margret one more time before I nod to Mewtwo and follow him along with the others away from the fight.
Margret puts her right hand to her mouth and in an instant fires a volley of blue fire balls toward the Gallade. The Gallade puts its bladed elbow in front of it to shield from the attack before swinging its arm causing the air around it to blast back. The blast of wind hits Margret and causes her to back up, but she stands resilient. "You're not gonna be easy to take down," Margret says. "You may very well take my life if this keeps up. As long as they get away I'm fine with either outcome." Blue fire-like energy begins to emanate around Margret. The Gallade readies itself as the energy around Margret's hands becomes more potent. Margret rushes toward the Gallade and the two begin to trade blows.
Mewtwo along with Darkrai run behind the rest of the group in case the Gallade reappears. As Mewtwo runs he cannot shake the feeling of wanting to go back and fight along side Margret. After everything Margret did for it, before and after becoming a Legendary.
Not far into the past, Mew and Mewtwo walk through a rocky route that leads to a cave within the largest mountain in Sinnoh, Mt. Coronet. As Mew flies elegantly in the air, Mewtwo walks down the road, contemplating what is about to transpire. Not too long after both Pokemon accepted each other as siblings, Mew went away for one day and came back announcing it had just announced to the other Legendaries of Mewtwo's existence and asked for Arceus to accept Mewtwo into the Legendaries. Leaving the clones in a safe location, Mew and Mewtwo set out for the Hall of Origins, located in Sinnoh.
Mewtwo watches Mew hover in the air as it playfully giggles toward Mewtwo who smiles in response. Mew, the very Pokemon that Mewtwo was created from, now sees its very replica almost as family, even after Mewtwo viciously fought it not too long ago, and now it wants Mewtwo to become a part of the Legendaries as well!.
A dream of Mewtwo which came to it early in its existence was the wish to one day to be apart of a family. Its short time with Ambertwo caused a yearning inside Mewtwo that only grew more strong after her death. The cruel treatment done to Mewtwo by the humans solidified its heart to humans and saw clones as the solution to its quest for a family. But after meeting Mew, the idea of a family became a reality! But even if Mew accepts me, what are the chances the other Legendaries are just as accepting? Mewtwo stops walking which causes Mew to stop and look at Mewtwo confused. "Are you okay?" Mew asks.
"I am…its just," Mewtwo could barely word out the question in his head. "I don't think they'll accept me."
"Why do you say that?" Mew asks.
"I'm not like other Pokemon," Mewtwo says. "I'm like those clones we cared for, my existence is because of humans, the Legendaries serve a purpose, I do not have one."
"Why would that stop you from becoming a Legendary?" Mew asks.
"I'm simply a clone of you, Mew," Mewtwo says. "Back when i was first creating my clone army, i did research on the Legendaries. The great Pokemon, who were responsible for creating the very world we live in. Throughout the world, the legendaries are revered as the most special of Pokemon. I'm nothing like them."
"You are to me," Mew says. Mewtwo turns his head to Mew, surprised.
"Why?" Mewtwo asks.
"Because you're my sibling," Mew smiles. "You're special to me." Tears begin to form around Mewtwo's eyes, but Mewtwo wipes them away quickly and begins walking toward the mountain entrance, not saying anything as Mew tries to follow.
Inside the Hall of Origins, Mewtwo stands in the middle, completely surrounding it are the great Legendaries Mewtwo read about in its research. The twin Eon Pokemon talk with each other, Groudon growls toward Rayquaza, Mewtwo's eyes open wide when it suddenly sees standing next to Cresselia a female human. The human woman smiles at Mewtwo who looks at her curiously before turning its attention to Arceus.
Hours after the meeting with the Legendaries, Mewtwo stands at the edge of Spear Pillar, overlooking all of Sinnoh. Arceus had just denied Mew's request for Mewtwo's membership into the Legendaries. The blow did not hit Mewtwo as hard as Mewtwo thought it would, it knew there was a chance such a thing would happen.
Mewtwo's ears twitch as it suddenly hears footsteps coming from behind it. Mewtwo turns its head around and sees that same human from earlier. "I'm sorry you were not accepted into the Legendaries," the human said.
"It doesn't really matter to me," Mewtwo responded, but continued to look at the human with confusion. "I want to know, why were you along side the other Legendaries? Why is a human in this area to begin with?"
"It's a very long story, I'm sure it'll bore you," the woman says.
"Try me," Mewtwo says. "I'm also gonna guess you apologizing wasn't the only reason you came to see me."
The human snickers. "Let's just say I was intrigued when I heard Mew found a Pokemon it thought belonged in the ranks of the Legendaries" the woman says. "I wanted to know if it was true, that you're an actual clone created by humans. And of Mew no less. Thankfully you don't seem to share the same hyperactive attitude."
"I am," Mewtwo goes back to looking at the view of Sinnoh. The human woman feels a strange wave of deja vu. "Is a clone all you see of me?"
The woman smiles and comes closer to Mewtwo. "I see you as what you are: a Pokemon," the woman says standing next to Mewtwo and views the surrounding Sinnoh region along with it.
Mewtwo looks at the human. "What is your name?" Mewtwo asks.
"My name is Margret," Margret says before giving off a soft chuckle. "I must say, humans will never cease to amaze me in their attempts to outdo themselves. Cloning the most illusive Pokemon in the world is no small feat."
"As amazing as my creation is," Mewtwo says. "The humans that created me did not do it simply for scientific purpose. I was created to be a weapon."
Mewtwo tightens its fists as it remembers the cruel treatment inflicted upon it by Team Rocket. Margret looks at Mewtwo. "The humans, I'm guessing you do not have good opinions on them?" Margret asks.
"I despised them not too long ago," Mewtwo said. "I saw them as nothing but weak creatures that could easily be defeated."
"What changed?" Margret asks.
"A human, none that I've ever met before," Mewtwo says. "He challenged me and my views on humans and in the end risked his life to end a horrific battle I created. His bravery and unending resolve to protect his friends. It resinating within me something I wanted for myself."
"A bond," Margret says.
Mewtwo looks at Margret. "A bond?," Mewtwo asks.
Margret fondly looks at the surrounding Sinnoh land in front of her. The humongous forests and endless valleys that stretch on for miles. The thousands upon thousands Pokemon and humans in front of both of them. "Something created eons ago that I noticed being made between Pokemon and humans, a wonderful connection that brought life to the world." A long smile stretches across Margret's face, her eyes half open. "I've witnessed bonds between human and Pokemon that bordered the very idea of family. The camaraderie, the friendship; it's been around before even the word "trainer" was used, and even though some of my fellow Legendaries might disagree with me on this, only grew stronger when trainers were created."
"You really believe this?" Mewtwo asks. "But what about the humans that try to harm Pokemon, like the ones that created me?"
"It is true there are humans out in this world that seek to harm Pokemon and even test the strength of the very bonds between humans and Pokemon," Margret says, her smile turning into a solemn frown. "Just like there are bad humans, there are also bad Pokemon in the world too, and vise versa. But luckily they are a small minority compared to the majority that draw their strength from their bonds."
"Is it really that strong?" Mewtwo asks.
"You should know, you have one too," Margret says. "Your bond with your sibling Mew seems to be strong. Many of us Legendaries are paired up with another Legendary or two in a very special relationship, almost like we can sense each other's emotions, if they're happy or in anguish. I guess you can say we have our own special bonds."
"It's too bad I will not become a Legendary," Mewtwo says, making Margret chuckle again before walking off toward the exit of Spear Pillar.
"Oh, simply wait an hour or two. After a long session of Mew complaining, Arceus will make you a Legendary soon enough," Margret says as Mewtwo watches her leave. "Until we meet again, congrats on becoming a Legendary."
Mewtwo winces as it runs away from the ongoing battle, fighting within itself to not turn around and fight as well. It looks at Mew and notices Mew is still in very bad condition, one bad hit and Mew's life could be in serious danger. Mewtwo's face becomes more resolute. "Alright Margret, I trust you can win!"
The Gallade swings and slices at Margret who parries it with her flames. Margret outstretches her arm and a stream of blue fire erupts and twirls around her arm before shooting off toward the Gallade. "Fire Blast!" Margret shouts as the attack hits the Gallade which lands a distance away. Burnt and sizzling, the Gallade stands on its feet and walks toward Margret.
Margret drops her arm. "It seems my attacks are too weak to really put it down," Margret says with a long sigh. "Then i guess it can't helped, it's time to finally return to that form again." Margret stamps both of her feet into the ground, a gust of wind blows her hair in the air. Cyrus walks out of the shadow of a tree behind the Gallade, perfectly able to see Margret who stares at him as well. A sudden hit of guilt washes over Margret as she looks at her former sibling.
Margreth stands, her whole body shaking with fear as she looks upon her own sibling, Cyros, his right arm dripping with the blood of a human laying motionless on the ground. "Cyros…what have you done?!"
Inside the Hall of Origins, Cyros stands in front of all the Legendaries, a furious look on Arceus's face. "You have taken the life of an innocent human," Arceus seethes. "The punishment is exile! The humans you seem to hate and demean seems to be the very species you do not understand. Maybe becoming one will help you understand them better."
"You can't do this to me!" Cyros yells. "You'll pay for this Arceus!" Cyros screams and curses toward Arceus as he is engulfed in a bright light and disappears.
Margreth stands before Arceus and the other Legendaries. "Give me the same punishment as Cyros."
"But you are still needed as a Legendary," Arceus says.
"Harmony is stable and will be for centuries to come!" Margreth shouts. "I am just as responsible for the crime committed by Cyros, I will take on the punishment as well."
"As you wish," Arceus says. "But unlike Cyros, I will give you the ability to revert back if you ever choose to."
"I hope that time never comes," Margreth says, closing her eyes as she is engulfed in light.
Margret opens her eyes as blue flames circle the ground in front of her. A large burst of blue energy erupts around Margret causing the wind to blast back, Cyrus shields himself with his arm as he watches Margret change before his very eyes. Margret's eyes become solid blue as her human skin starts to become blue, her clothing begins to burn away, revealing a fiery blue transparent body. Hands and feet become claws and a small snout pokes from her face as her eyes return to its normal state. The Gallade continues to walk before stopping a few feet away, indifferent to its opponent's transformation. Margreth and and a smiling Cyrus exchange glances as the fight continues.
