"Damon is acting out again and killing, yesterday Elena had to seduce him so that we could vervain him. I have him locked inside of a prison cell but I can't hold him for much longer."
Caroline didn't mean to come across as incredibly insensitive but she was only worried about her mother. "I called to know how you were mom, not to get the entire news flash from the same old gang."
Liz chuckled from the other side of the line. "This is my life Caroline, I have to deal with Damon draining girls by the side road and Elena crying all night camped out in my police station… and the occasional stranger rolling into town…"
Caroline held back the book that she was about to stuff inside of her bag. "What stranger?"
"Just some guy who arrived to town with a legal car and that has been sitting at The Grill drinking water."
Caroline could tell the mocking tone from her mother was meant to assure her that he represented no real danger but still she wasn't too reassured. "Why don't you stop being stubborn and come visit your darling daughter?" she packed her bag wishing that her mother would listen to her just this once.
"You must really be dating Klaus, you are starting to sound like him."
Caroline rolled her eyes. "I'm worried about my mother who I love very much."
"I love you too honey and I miss you but there's no reason to go to New Orleans, we talk more now than we ever did when you lived here."
Caroline warmly smiled. "That's true."
"And we will talk again tomorrow, now I have a shift starting and you have school."
"I'll call you tonight mom, I love you." Caroline sweetly ended her call with a big smile for Bonnie.
The other didn't return such an enthusiastic smile but as Bonnie struggled with a blue cardigan Caroline silently noticed the change in her friend.
Bonnie's style changed since she was in New Orleans, the tops were tighter and steamer and the skirts were by addition shorter, yet Bonnie's real change came along with her new sassy short haircut, she also gained a taste for dresses and Caroline particularly liked the one she had today, the baby blue dress was just smooth against her beautiful skin.
"There was no late dinner with Kol last night? You were already sleeping when I got home." Caroline asked as they got ready to leave.
"I stayed a little at Lust but I really wanted to wake up early for college so I didn't stay until very late." Bonnie grabbed her bag trying to sound nonchalant about the entire thing. "I lost track of Kol when he left with a girl, she had that entire Russian model vibe about her."
Caroline lessened her eyes as they reached the iron gate. "Are you… upset about that?"
"Of course not." Bonnie held the gate looking at Caroline. "Why would I be?
"I don't know… you and Kol have been spending a lot of time together…"
"Do you know how hard it is to have a witch friend? To find someone who understands Latin and doesn't look at me like I'm an alien when I'm speaking about spells?"
Caroline closed the front gate with a thoughtful look. "I never thought of it like that."
"You guys all have that vampire thing between you, fangs and blood links you to Stefan and the Mikaelsons, even when we were back in Mystic Falls I felt left out and the only time I had someone like me was when Luka was alive. It feels really good to have someone to share all the things that define me."
Caroline clasped her lips a little as they walked down the street. "I really am a bad friend because I never realized how lonely and an outcast you must have felt."
Bonnie smiled as they crossed the street. "You are listening to me and there's not a single vibe of judgment coming from you Caroline, believe me, you are not a bad friend."
"You found common ground with Kol." Caroline stated as they arrived to her favorite coffee stand in New Orleans.
"In a weird way we've formed this unlikely… coven." Bonnie said slowly, very aware of how odd she sounded.
Caroline handed her a cup of coffee with a big smile. "The best part of it all is that if he gets too frisky for my taste with you, I can easily break a lot of bones in his body."
Bonnie laughed before having the first sip of her strong coffee. "I don't think anyone knows how actually powerful as a warlock Kol is, not even him."
"He can't be more powerful than you." Caroline gave Bonnie a silly look.
"My magic comes from nature, from everything that I can touch but Kol's energy comes from something else entirely. I'm not familiar with that kind of magic but I've seen it before. When we were on the other side Kol mastered this thing called The Shadows, at first I thought that it was some really powerful force that he found a way to use against me but then I realized that it was all in my head. I watched my Grams in pain after the witches punished her for helping me and that really stuck with me." Bonnie pressed her cup. "Kol used that against me and just enhanced my fear into something bigger and scarier."
Caroline stopped the coffee on the way to her mouth. "Did he tamper with your mind like Silas used to do?"
"Silas had 2000 years behind him, Kol has a few months but yes, I really… really think that Kol's magic comes from the Silas' line."
"He has been running around the city trying to find out what he really is." Caroline widened her eyes. "Someone should tell him."
As they neared the University Bonnie lowered her voice. "He tried to cut Jeremy's arm just to stop us from getting the cure and he tortured Damon inside of a freezer with a bunch of dead people in it. How do I tell an extremely potential violent guy that he probably has the power to compel people with his mind?"
Caroline wrinkled her lips. "Uh… he might get carried away."
"While he is still looking for answers he's not really harming anyone."
"We should look for answers as well." Caroline reached for her phone sending a message at once.
It didn't go unnoticed by Bonnie, she easily guessed who would be on the other side of a really long message. "Klaus didn't come around for breakfast this morning as he usually does."
"I left him sleeping last night and this morning he wanted to meet with Elijah so we decided to change our routine and we will be having dinner instead."
Bonnie had her coffee in silence but with a teasing smile.
Caroline looked up from her phone aware of it. "He has a really turbulent life and I have my own thing going on so we've established that there needs to be some sort of habit between us so that we don't lose touch with each other."
"Is that your way of saying... married?" Bonnie teased her endlessly.
"We are going to be late." Caroline glared at the other.
Bonnie chuckled following Caroline as they went inside of the building. "I'm happy that you two gave routine a break because I could get used to this." Bonnie waved her empty cup. "I like our new life."
Caroline pulled her lower lip on top of her upper one and laced an arm around Bonnie. "I love having you here with me Bon."
"I really like New Orleans and I've learned how to smile again, and I share a house with my best friend. Things are a lot better than they were last year, now all I have to do is get good grades. Oh and afford coffee because I'm running out of money."
"We've been through this Bonnie." Caroline dropped her empty cup in the garbage. "I don't want your money."
"By the way…" Bonnie eased the way into a pivotal question. "When you and Klaus fought the other day, who gave in first?"
"He came around with flowers." Caroline was reading a long message that she just received.
"Damn it…" Bonnie cursed under her breath.
Caroline squinted pointing at Bonnie at once.
"I sort of made a bet with Stefan…" Bonnie confessed.
Caroline gasped with a loud shriek. "Shame on you…"
Bonnie pulled the most innocent smile. "I lost."
Caroline shook her head over dramatically. "I'm judging you very hard and I'm judging Stefan as well. I'm going to call him just to say how much I'm judging him."
Bonnie laughed with the dramatic expression on Caroline's face. "Tell him hi for me."
"Shame on you!" Caroline pointed at Bonnie again with a very accusing finger.
The other laughed as they went on separate ways for different classes.
"Why are you staying here Elijah?" Rebekah asked while trying to choose the right drink for them.
"The house has memories." Elijah simply answered.
She looked back at the brother sitting on the sofa with a defeated look.
"Memories of a woman whose corpse you reduced to ashes and buried in a secret location." Klaus said putting his phone away for a bit and slouching on the sofa next to Elijah.
"He has a point." Rebekah decided on the vintage Rum.
"I wanted to make sure that no one would use her remains for some outrageous motive." Elijah glanced over to Klaus.
Instantly Klaus touched his chest pretending to be hurt.
Rebekah handed a glass for each brother and pulled the coffee table closer so that she could sit in front of them. "She's dead now Elijah, do you intend to stay in this house mopping forever?"
"The brooding type is obsolete Elijah." Kol joined his siblings and snatched the glass from Rebekah's hand.
Everyone looked at him somewhat surprised because they hadn't called him to say where they were.
"His girl died, I figured that there would be some sad reunion to say nice things about her." Kol informed the others while Rebekah went to get a glass for her.
"She managed to outrun me for 500 years, that's impressive." Klaus had his drink opening the hostilities.
"She had an amazing eye for fashion." Rebekah raised her glass in memory of her.
"I liked her cleavage." Kol promptly said.
Elijah growled under a chuckle from Klaus.
"I ran out of good things to say about her character." Kol excused himself with a shrug.
"None of you knew her." Elijah reminded the small crowd.
"You didn't know her either Elijah so let's all just take a minute to mourn her." Rebekah refilled all the glasses.
Not even thirty seconds went by when Kol interrupted the grave moment. "All right, that was emotional. Now, moving on to really important issues… I met a witch last night called Nadia."
"Did you cheat on Bonnie?" Rebekah mockingly whispered like she was truly appalled.
"What?" Kol squinted at her.
Klaus' phone started vibrating and he took it from the table with mocking attire as well. "It's Caroline, probably to inform me that Bonnie already knows that you have been sharing your magic with someone called Nadia."
Kol looked after Klaus confused, he faced Elijah and Rebekah still bemused. "Bonnie and I are just friends."
Klaus and Rebekah laughed loudly.
Kol looked at Elijah for answers.
"I believe that it has something to do with Niklaus and Caroline stating that they were friends before that happened." Elijah moved his hand to Klaus without looking at him.
He was smiling on the balcony while speaking to Caroline on the phone.
"Do you reckon that he is overtaken by some demon spirit?" Kol asked with a narrow of his eyes.
"He told Caroline that he loved her, in our mother tongue." Rebekah said in a low voice.
"I found him sleeping last night." Elijah quietly informed them.
Kol and Rebekah faced Elijah at the same time and in a slow motion.
"I'm aware." Elijah had his drink without lifting his eyes.
"We should purge him." Kol murmured.
"I know a priest." Elijah smiled from above the rim of his glass.
"Allow me to end the cacophony of nonsense happening right now by reminding the lot of you that I possess impeccable hearing." Klaus returned to the room and to his place next to Elijah.
"Yes, let us focus on something vital, me." Kol left his glass on the floor. "Nadia assured me that I can be turned with no side effects at all."
"I'm sure that she drew experience from all the other Originals that died, crossed over and then were resurrected as humans." Klaus smirked while stretching his arms over the sofa.
"She belongs to the Travelers. Do you remember those witches I met in Romania?" Kol asked Klaus.
"No, I was far too busy chasing after you at the time, I didn't really listen to anything you said before I daggered you." Klaus lifted his hands a little.
"Unlike Katherine I wasn't given any cure so it's safe to assume that I can survive the transition to vampire." Kol snapped and decided to go straight to the point, when no one reacted at all to his words, he parted his arms. "Siblings of mine, we are talking about spending eternity with me."
They all decided to simply spike him by staring at him with a blank expression.
"This will haunt you all." he pointed at them individually as he stood up.
He slammed the front door childishly but neither of them moved until they heard him drive away, as it happened all three Originals grinned awfully amused and Rebekah refilled everyone's drink.
"One of us should tell him that we are only holding this off to fulfil our sadist joy over his torture." Elijah already felt a sting of regret.
"We should let him sweat just for a little longer, I love seeing him so aghast." Rebekah beamed.
"I did not create a perfect triangle of Expression to throw it to waste because he met a witch who claims that it's safe to turn him." Klaus ended his drink standing up and leaving his glass on the coffee table. "And I know Kol, if he really wanted to be turned, he would be a vampire already."
"Go away and take your intelligence with you, it nauseates me beyond." Rebekah threw a sassy smile at Klaus.
He winked at her as he walked away.
She shook her head crumbling into a smile and faced Elijah, quickly Rebekah took his side and comfortably lodged herself on the sofa, she folded her legs and stared at her brother.
He slowly turned his head. "Is there something you wanted to tell me?"
"I bought a space and I'm turning it into a lively Nightclub."
"I'm elated that finally you have decided to do something on your own and not entirely linked to us. For the first time we are all living in the same city but yet leading separate lives." He wandered of thoughtful.
She knew exactly what he meant. "I like my new project but I also like that I have all my family united for once."
"Are you aware that an 18 year-old baby vampire mastered what I couldn't?" Elijah asked Rebekah in the most confounded voice.
Rebekah nodded with a small smile. "Yes, she was my horse, remember?"
"How could I be so blind Rebekah?" he sounded now truly lost.
"You forgot that you were just one of us, you weren't Nik's father or mine's… Kol's… you are just one of us." she said in a quiet way.
Elijah sighed and moved his arm, Rebekah moved with him so that she could snuggle closer and neither spoke as he kept her under his arm but he could feel her getting emotional when he stroked her long hair.
"What do you mean you kissed her?" Caroline asked between a gasp and a whisper.
"She was there looking all beautiful and I stroked her face and then I pressed her lips with mine." Stefan sounded too natural about the entire thing.
"I'm not 5 Stefan, I know what kissing means." she found a nice little corner where she could talk to him without bumping into the students filling the busy halls. "But I wasn't expecting you to kiss Rebekah."
"You don't approve…"
This time around she sighed. "It's not that, I'm just worried that this was a bit rushed and I really care for you both so I don't want to see any of you get hurt again."
"It was only one kiss Caroline." Stefan clarified.
"With tongue?" Caroline demanded to know.
"Yes…" Stefan grunted the answer.
And Caroline threw her hand in the air. "This has tragic romance written all over it."
"I sadly fit the profile." he said discouraged.
She laughed because of it and her voice was the sweetest as she ended the call. "We are going to have lunch tomorrow and there will be a lot of wine involved so get ready for that."
Obviously he agreed at once and Caroline was smiling when she put her phone away and headed down the corridor for another class, as she approached the auditorium she bumped into a Professor and immediately apologized.
"That's ok Miss Forbes, I'm used to the occasional bump in the hall."
She smiled at the man who happened to be one of her teachers and also the one she compelled during that one test, it also reminded her that there was another one coming up really fast.
"I hope that you were distracted because you were lost in theories and medical terms." He engaged into a small conversation.
"I was actually mentally preparing myself for the big test." she effortlessly steered the conversation to where she wanted.
"Will you be using compulsion this time Miss Forbes?" the professor bluntly asked her.
"Not if I can help it." she lifted her chin a little with resolution. "But I will do whatever it takes to get those good grades."
The man ran his hand through his hair and Caroline was positive the movement was used purely to show her the ring that he was wearing.
"We all like a student with purpose." he left her with a strange feel in the air.
Caroline tapped her books with a finger slowly narrowing her eyes at the man, she had a purpose all right.
Bonnie juggled a couple of books that she held against her chest, she pressed her lips tight as she fought to open the chocolate bar which was proving impossible with her broken wrist, after a big struggle with the wrap it violently tore but with the abrupt movement the chocolate inside flew out of her reach.
Bonnie caught her breath distraught but a hero emerged as a swift hand caught the candy on time.
"Oh my God, thank you." she told Jesse as he held the chocolate with a smug smile.
"You are welcome." he reached for her books. "Let me hold those for you so you can eat."
"Oh…." she barely reacted as he was already taking possession of her books.
Slightly uncomfortable Bonnie had a bite of her chocolate bar. "Did Caroline order you to be nice to me?"
Jesse laughed at ease. "I haven't seen her today, she deliberately hides from me."
"She doesn't like to be controlled." Bonnie offered a piece of chocolate to Jesse.
He took her offer with a shrug. "Let's be honest here, no one likes it and she scares me a little so I've decided to keep my protection on an invisible note."
"What do you do all day when you are being invisible?"
"Holding the books of girls who are far too pretty to be eating alone."
Bonnie chuckled with the straightforward ways of the mysterious hybrid. "You don't waste any time do you?"
"I would love to answer all the inquiries you have over dinner tonight." he shamelessly smirked at her.
Bonnie retrieved her books from him and mildly scolded him. "I'll think about it. With extra care because you did save my sweet." she left him on the hallway with a smile that was a bit flirty from her end.
She was still smiling because of his direct interest when she took her seat in the big classroom, she was expecting Caroline since they shared this class on their schedule but not the man who sat next to her with a flirtatious smile of his own.
"What are you doing here?" she asked Kol with a whisper because the class was about to start.
"You disappeared last night and I had big news." He replied with a wink.
"It looked like you would be busy for the rest of the night." she opened her book with an attitude.
He blatantly ignored the hint. "Nadia was the witch I was supposed to meet at the crossroad and she belongs to a very powerful group of witches, she also believes that I can be turned without a problem."
"You had time to discuss all that?" Bonnie slowly looked at him.
Again he overlooked the innuendo. "My family is playing hard to get which is charming but ultimately stirring me up so I've decided to do this on my own. I could use the moral support." he pulled the most sweet smile ever.
"Why don't you ask Nadia?" Bonnie coldly dropped.
This time he grimaced. "Do you have better plans for tonight?"
"Actually I do." Bonnie answered almost too quickly.
"I'm going to be a little busy dying and coming back incredibly flawless." he mused about her plans.
"I have a date." she said without thinking.
"With that fella who works for me?" Kol asked eager to use the past tense.
"No…" Bonnie flicked her eyes to the boy sitting in front her. "With Jesse."
"Who?" Kol's voice dropped accusing the surprise.
"Me." Jesse turned on his seat with a victorious grin.
Kol was beyond lost and speechless.
"What are you doing here?" Caroline just arrived to a strange exchange of looks between the trio.
"When the cute group in the back decides to end the little reunion I'd like to start my class." the professor in charge of the classroom decided to end the annoying murmur.
Bonnie placed her hand on the side of her face covering from the other prying students but also from Kol and Jesse who were looking at each other uneasily and from a very puzzled Caroline.
Rebekah slowed down her pace as she lazily caught Stefan tearing down a wall, the muscles in his arms were seductively rippling as he used the big hammer and they were leaving her in a good mood, she was particularly happy that he was wearing a tight white T.
"Feel free to help me out." he called her out.
She smiled moving around the wall fragments on the ground careful not to get her fancy pumps dirty. "Can't I just stand here and admire the really sweaty man doing all the hard work?"
Stefan knocked the last piece of the wall in front of him. "Have you decided what kind of Nightclub it will be?"
Rebekah looked around the big space already imagining it. "Something sparkly, classy and timeless."
He followed Rebekah as she walked to the area where the bar would be.
"There will be the largest champagne cascade over here." she moved her hands in front of her, then she smiled and turned to Stefan. "Over there will be the jazzy lively band of course and right where you are standing the big dance floor will shine."
"Are we going back to the feathers, pearls and hats?" Stefan unexpectedly liked the idea a lot.
"We are going all flapper and roaring Stefan." Rebekah was decided to bring back the only time where she had been genuinely happy.
The girls left their bedrooms at the same time, Caroline was still holding her platform peep toe black sandals in her hands while Bonnie was fighting with a clutch that wouldn't close.
"Wow!" Bonnie reacted to the steamy mini tight dress that Caroline was wearing.
Caroline pushed the dangling earrings on her ears and then slipped into the strappy high heels. "I'm so late, Klaus will be here any second." she stopped her hectic actions to smile at Bonnie. "You look hot."
Bonnie had a hard time believing she looked as good in her short soft purple strapless draped dress with a black belt as Caroline did in her all black dress with a blouson top and a strappy racerback, the skirt was so tight that Bonnie knew the only reason Caroline was able to breathe was because she didn't need to.
"I have no idea how I ended up in a date with Jesse but I should go, right?" Bonnie asked unsure.
Caroline lifted her finger like she was forming something very important in her mind to say. "I have just the perfect earrings."
"Care?" Bonnie followed the other to the room. "I need more conviction than that."
Caroline took the box with the diamond earrings Klaus gave her and placed them on Bonnie with a smile. "I was wearing these the night Klaus and I kissed for the first time so it might bring you some good luck."
"Why would I kiss Jesse?" Bonnie asked with big worried eyes.
"If he kisses you and you feel like kissing him back just go for it." Caroline took Bonnie's arms sweetly. "If you don't feel like kissing him then just give him a migraine."
"I don't even know what to tell him, before today we shared exactly two words, hi and bye." Bonnie explained what seemed to be her entire history with boys.
"Don't think about it, just have fun and enjoy your date."
"I haven't officially broken up with Jeremy yet."
Caroline gave her a warning look. "You mean the guy who won't return your calls or messages? I've been there Bonnie, this isn't going anywhere besides I forbid you to start another serious relationship with anyone right now, this is just a carefree date meant to make you smile, so please... smile."
Bonnie forced her mouth to form a smile.
Caroline tilted her head grinning before there was a knock on the door.
"Oh God!" Bonnie pressed her stomach.
Caroline went to the door with a serious expression for Jesse. "Respect my friend." she notified the hybrid who was sauntering a casual look.
"Ok boss." Jesse teased her nonetheless but he eased up on the smile when Bonnie showed up next to Caroline.
Bonnie raised her hand greeting him and he honestly seemed taken by the way she looked.
Caroline held the door while watching them leave, just like a mother cautiously restraining from following and spying on them all night, of course that her thoughts were shifted somewhere else when the tall man wearing a black suit, a deep red shirt with a matching tie crossed the iron gate of her house looking striking.
"You weren't kidding when you said that tonight would be special." she took her time speaking because he still managed to surprise her.
"Hello love."
He annoyingly made sure that the night wouldn't kick off without messing with her heart, the husky voice and the smile did the trick. "Hi handsome." she whispered decided to play a little with him as well.
He was now near enough for her to touch him and Caroline moved a little away from her door so that she could stand closer to him, she outlined the smooth lapel of his jacket and reached his neck in time to caress it before he kissed her.
Her lips were trapped between his and she enjoyed all that smoothness slowly, for the longest moment she considered asking him inside and postponing whatever plans he had for them tonight but she was so curious about his cryptic message that she was the first to break away from the kiss.
"Where are we going?" she asked while still caressing his neck.
"I am taking the breathtaking woman in front of me to one of the first Jazz Clubs in New Orleans. Expect excellent music, outstanding food and…" he licked his lips slowly. "Many other attributes I can't really remember right now because of the sexy number you are wearing."
Caroline laughed turning to get her clutch and closed the door behind her. "We should go before we strip each other and end up having sex on the floor."
Klaus pushed her against the door as soon as she closed it and cupped her cheek, he kissed her roughly this time and she answered right back with the same intensity while losing her hand in his hair.
"Dinner first sweetheart."
His words took its time settling in with her after he parted from her lips but she offered him a lustful look, she expected her hot vampire-hybrid sex after dinner.
The posh Club had a British feel to it and Caroline really liked it, she noticed a few heads turning but she wasn't sure if she was the cause for it or the man who easily stole attention as soon as he walked inside of a room.
The women nervously smiling at Klaus ticked her off and she easily glared at them, not that it had any practical effect but outside the little bubble that Caroline created in New Orleans with Klaus for the last few months she was now forced to deal with the fact that her boyfriend was coveted by any woman with a pair of good eyes.
With that in mind she was happy that Klaus chose a private booth just for them and that it felt as if they were somewhat alone inside of the really crowded place.
Kol threw himself on the sofa, he looked at Klausy that was sitting on top of a pillow attentively looking at him. "Cursed to spend the night alone as well?"
Klausy rested his head on the pillow and kept on looking at him with big puppy eyes.
"I had big plans that didn't include you little one but since we are stuck with each other, care to join me?" Kol waved the bottle in his hand.
Klausy jolted away from him and jumped from the sofa going after the little ball that he had been playing with before Kol arrived.
"Traitor…" Kol mumbled.
There was a sudden noise coming from the porch that alerted Kol, he was alone in the house and he wasn't expecting anyone, he grabbed an iron tool from the fireplace and waved it as he came to the front door, Klausy became restless and started barking with anger.
"That's a good sign..." Kol murmured lowering the lights in the living room. "I miss my fangs..." he ran his tongue over his teeth and waited behind the front door.
As soon as someone slowly opened it he rotated that iron like it was a bat, after hitting someone hard in the face with it he searched for the lights, the blow immobilized entirely some fella who was now lying unconscious on his floor and Kol was proud that he still had the old swing.
Klausy started barking again and Kol turned around fast, still he barely caught a glimpse of a big man before a sharp blow to the side of his head knocked him out cold.
"I knew that that would happen." Klaus conceitedly affirmed as he shared the last bit of wine with Caroline.
She took her glass with a shake of her bouncy curls. "How could you possibly know that Stefan would kiss Rebekah?"
"I was there when they first decided to take on the world like two brave little birds, they have unfinished business between them and they share the same quest for immeasurable love."
"Don't tell me that he promised to be her last love as well..." Caroline teased Klaus.
He gave her the recognition for the small victory by tilting his glass at her. "I'm awfully certain that he intended to but then I compelled him to forget all about us, still it was my sister's necklace that he gave your friend as a token of his love."
"Are you going to kill Stefan now that he made a move on Bekah?"
"And they keep coming love." he exasperated.
She giggled cutely at him.
"I might if he breaks her heart." Klaus rested his glass on the table somewhat serious.
"Oh be still my brotherly heart." Caroline leaned over the table eager to jump over it and straddle him on the chair that he was occupying.
"Speaking of birds and brothers…" Klaus lifted his eyes from the table finding hers.
They danced one of those usual waltz dances that had their eyes flicking between lips and eyes and a little lower to cleavage and chest level.
"Kol and Bonnie…" she sighed. "I know... I'm not sure I'm entirely on board with that and I totally sound like a spinster unhappy with my friends and their romantic choices, which I hate." she tapped her forehead. "But Stefan and Bonnie have had their hearts ripped out of their chests... look at Jeremy, he cheated on Bonnie with a ghost... and now he is acting like Bonnie is the bad guy... and don't get me started on Stefan..." she stopped her ramblings by covering her mouth. "I'm drifting again, you need to stop me when I do that Klaus." she angrily demanded.
He merely smiled at her. "It's mesmerizing the amount of life that oozes from you Caroline, I could watch you speak all day and still find you short of words."
She tossed her napkin at him. "You are not allowed to be romantic during a romantic dinner at a romantic restaurant. Just no!" she fiercely huffed.
The most easy and amazing smile emerged from him and she smiled shaking her head before their eyes met, so did their fingers that encountered haven in the middle of the table.
Quietly Klaus took her index between his fingers, it was like her skin was ignited on fire and Caroline held on to his fingers as well, they toyed with each other without saying a single word but yet speaking volumes between them.
Neither had ever felt so comfortable before with anyone else, like their fingers now perfectly entwined together they also found a way to entangle their lives.
"Would you like more wine?" The pretty girl working at the restaurant asked the couple but she had her eyes on Klaus.
"That would be lovely sweetheart." Klaus smiled making the girl clear her throat before she turned away.
Caroline played with her long earrings pretending to be totally cool with the way that the waitress ignored them holding hands and simply kept on looking at Klaus.
Or how every now and then a couple of girls went by their booth taking extra time glancing inside, yeah, she was really cool with the way every female in New Orleans suddenly decided to have their libido pointing at Klaus.
"Do you come here often?" Caroline asked as she caught another girl casually walking by the booth.
"I love the food here." his answer was ambiguous enough to spike her paranoia.
The way Caroline smiled in a straining way while she was trying to untie her thoughts made Klaus wary but he gave it an easy meaning when his date reacted with a tamed snarl to the return of the friendly waitress.
Once alone Klaus didn't touch the bottle and instead stood up, he took Caroline's hand forcing her to stand with him. "The band is about to start playing and we would miss the true magic of it hiding in here."
"I like it here." she merely responded.
"Trust me sweetheart."
Caroline sulked like a little kid but agreed with a nod, before they left their little haven Klaus caressed all that skin on her soft face and captured her lips for a kiss.
His tongue was like velvet invading hers and he slowly swept all the softness in her tongue, slowly making sure that she would take his lead and once she did, he allowed the kiss to belong to Caroline.
As expected she was simply regal while claiming what was hers and he framed her passion equally, he gave her power to end the kiss only when she wanted and waited for her to see what she was missing altogether, that he only had eyes for her.
Mystic Falls
April rushed down the street, she should not be out so late.
Thankfully she was close to home and earlier today Jeremy mentioned how Damon was still locked away, but still she was worried as she raced down the dark street, she only slowed down because she saw the Sheriff's car parked in the middle of the street.
She looked around the deserted night confirming her suspicion, she was alone and as she reached the car her heart was tight, she found the door in the driver's side open and no one inside.
"Sheriff Forbes?" she called spinning around the dark street.
April took her phone calling Jeremy with shaking fingers, there was blood on the door and the seat.
The music was sad, it was emotional and gripping, it touched Caroline in a way that she wasn't expecting and she smiled closing her eyes when the man standing behind her kissed her cheek.
They were now covered in the most amazing dark, the only meek light came from a few torches and other small candles resting on the tables, the crowd was quietly listening to the slow unfold of feelings happening on the small stage.
A trumpet and a saxophone sang without singing, poked her soul without physically touching her and Caroline understood every note like they were playing only for her, as if they had rearranged the improvised blue notes just to move her close to tears.
She moved her head a little so that she could look at him and thank him for a wonderful night, instead of speaking she decided to softly kiss him, it was a cute kiss that they shared as they stood a little away from the crowd now clapping enthusiastically at the duo on stage.
"I love this place." she spoke a few of the words living inside of her, the others were cautiously kept to herself because they would make her blush if she was to give them voice.
"Everything about it is superb." he whispered leaning over and tickling her ear, and he did make her blush as his hand tucked the side of her body moving to the crook of her back and then down her body.
She searched his blue eyes holding a moving flame in them and her hand crossed his broad back finding a home over his shoulder.
There was music again but Caroline could almost hear a heart racing instead and when she looked over his shoulder she found a red-haired woman looking straight at them, her rational side told her that it was just a common reaction of someone who can't look away from a couple showing affection in public but still her irrational jealous side took over, she wasn't just looking, it was an intense gawk that left Caroline irked.
Caroline melted against Klaus, she scrapped the back of his neck knowing that that would make him shiver and when he eagerly looked for a kiss she taunted him by not only answering his kiss with her mouth but by moving a leg between them, her knee brushed a yearning desire for her that she only instigated by grinding against him.
"My house or yours?" he asked breaking off the kiss roughly.
For a second her brain processed, wall or table instead and she blinked grinding against him again and moaning against his lips. "Mine, Bonnie is out on a date." she breathlessly answered.
Klaus pulled her hand taking her away, restraining altogether from throwing her over his shoulder.
The stupid key wouldn't turn and Klaus was kissing her neck making it harder to focus, she dropped her bag on the ground and moved her fingers knowingly through his hair, she still tried to open the front door but damn him, he just found his way to her leg and she laced it around his bringing him closer.
Everything was perfect as their lips met again except for the tiny detail that they were still outside of her house fighting with her ever problematic lock.
"I can't open the door." she finally gave up on it.
Klaus hauled her to him and moved them so that he was now the one with his back to the door, with a single crash against it Klaus broke the doorknob and cracked the door open.
Caroline pulled his jacket down and undid his tie as soon as they went inside of the house, she wrapped a hand around the tie sliding it slowly away from his neck.
He teased her lips with his without fully kissing her and she smiled as he did so, the tip of her tongue playfully nudged his upper lip while her fingers slowly addressed the buttons on his shirt and suddenly there was no rush, no feverous kisses, just languorous ones.
Caroline opened his shirt so that she could caress all the wonder that was his chest, she liked that there was a beaded necklace under his elegant attire and only after her smile and a sweet outline of his strong features they gave into an unhurried kiss that paved the way to her bedroom.
She pulled his shirt down his shoulders as he indulged in her neck again, the soft scratching of his stubble gave way to her desire to feel his fangs instead and for him to bite her.
Caroline was stunned that her dress was still covering her body and untainted at this point but Klaus was one with a purpose when he wanted and when he pulled away from her neck he stroked her cheek like a true lover rendered to the one who made him feel alive.
"I was jealous of you today." she admitted in a low fearful voice.
His thumb brushed her chin as slow as the smile that graced his lips. "I'm jealous of you every day."
Caroline's teeth cropped her lower lip. "If I also admit how much I missed you today I will come off as the clingy insecure teenager girlfriend."
"No… you are a woman Caroline." he moved his fingers to her blond locks straightening a few wild curls. "A beautiful woman with consuming feelings like love, jealousy, anger... the unaccountable will to protect the ones you care about, it's all right to feel all of these things sweetheart, even irrational raw lust." he traced the lines of her face, then his fingertips brushed down her neck stopping at her shoulders.
With a skill that was natural in him, Klaus effortlessly tore the strings holding her dress together and pulled the fabric down her body touching her porcelain skin with a warm touch that made her close her eyes.
She caught her breath as he picked her up in his arms and carried her to the bed, he laid her down with a gentleness that she still couldn't believe existed in him at all and that it was all for her.
She waited for him like it was the first time, she watched him in awe as his clothes left the body that she wanted to crash hers on that bed.
He came to the foot of the bed and held one of her feet pressing the high heel against his chest as he caressed her leg, her breath picked up and Caroline pressed the other heel against his chest piercing with it just a little of his flesh.
It was surreal how his look set a serious of unfamiliar feelings inside of her on blaze and how everything in him was a clear statement of how much he was in control, even of her but he had that overwhelming ability to take away all of her fear and with him she just wanted to let go.
Caroline closed her eyes as he removed the big heels from her feet gently stroking her calf and then her long smooth legs before he motioned his body down between her legs making her throb in anticipation.
He kissed her through the laced tiny panties and he made perfect round circles with his tongue inside of her inner thighs making her deeply moan, how he loved that particular sound that she made.
Klaus kissed his way up her rib cage leaving tiny playful bites on the ivory skin at his mercy to worship and he took a nipple into his mouth while he lost his hand between her legs, there it was, that deep husky moan that she released again.
His soft, wet tongue toyed with her nipple while her hips moved meeting his hand, demanding that he did what he was only teasing at this point.
Her body jerked in pure pleasure when he slid a finger just a little under the rim of her panties, again only teasing her while his teeth caught her nipple in a painless playful nibble.
Caroline shuddered under him but he was fighting the inevitable here, he had to be inside of her, he had to take her, to fill her completely as she claimed more and more of him unwilling to release him until she was fully satisfied and whimpering with exhausted bliss.
His kisses were warm and moist now around her breasts but he moved up her collarbone and then up her neck until he whispered in her ear. "I love your scent so much Caroline..." he slid a finger further underneath the wet lace just enough to make her arch her back thrusting her body against his.
Just to make sure that she knew exactly what he was talking about Klaus dipped a finger into her body making her cry out and bury her nails into his shoulders, as he moved that finger in and out of her warmth he felt unplanned and innocent lust burst out of Caroline's skin.
Like a fever that covered her body and propelled the most amazing incoherent mumbles from her she was lost in his pumping finger inside of her and his hand moving between her breasts and caressing her body with care.
"And sweetheart?" he toyed with her senses.
"Umm?" she was barely responding lucidly.
"You are the only woman I want." he murmured the words before melting his lips with hers and pulling his hands away from her.
Klaus stripped her off her panties and took her with one deep hard thrust that had Caroline losing all grasp to what surrounded her, all that existed now was Klaus and his pounding thrusts that made the headboard slam against the wall with every vigorous move.
He was taking everything that she was giving him and Caroline was clutching on to him, her body was one with his, she moved with him as he powerfully went deeper and harder with every thrust.
Caroline made him growl loudly as her nails tore skin away from his flesh, his back became a painful canvas painted by her raw displays of passion.
Between the heavy pants, scorching breaths, ramming sounds and muffled cries there was a kiss, eager lips searching each other and between it all, he cupped her cheek kissing her as if he needed that one assurance that she was all right, and Caroline kissed him reassuring him that everything was as it was supposed to be between them.
It was nothing but violent the way that they both came undone and ended up spent and drained.
Their heavy, unsteady and dragging panting filled the room, Caroline moved her hand down his shivering body soothing his healing scars and he moved just that bit away from her trembling body.
They smiled at each other so terribly enamoured with one another and they kissed slower this time, during the soft aftermath of a visceral experience their sweaty bodies remained perfectly puzzled together, nothing but tenderness oozed out of them now.
When their lips parted ways Caroline moved her head to the side on the pillow exposing her neck to him, he offered his wrist to her and while he fed from a gentle bite that he made on her neck she framed his wrist with her mouth and drank from him.
