It's time, Marley is coming to visit!

To the guest - we have a lot of characters and yes, almost all of them are attracted to the same sex [just a reminder, Beth is not labeling herself, Jake is bi and Shelby and Maribel are straight who just enjoyed the intimacy and closeness that is missing from their lives.] Maybe there will be more of Puck&Quinn, but we don't really see a problem with having many same sex relationships and a story the focus on their lives.
A long and busy month went by for the family. Rachel and Santana were getting a little more used to mothering a baby, although whenever they think they have it down to a "T", Riley does something they don't ever really expect, it's amazing and surprising all at the same time. Luckily for them, Maribel was staying with them up until after New Year's since Leo and his girlfriend, once again were spending time away. This was a little irritating to Santana since she's been dying to meet this mystery woman that is magically able to make Leo behave himself, and to keep him away from his family with ease. Occasionally during the few days prior to Christmas, Shelby would tag along in watching Riley with Maribel so Rachel and Santana can get time off to go on dates. It was nice to have the parents around in cases like this, especially with everything that Rachel and Santana have to do on a day to day basis. Without Maribel there, Rachel would have to take Riley with her to the studio to record lines for this upcoming animated movie based around one of Riley's favorite books, or what Rachel assumes is Riley's favorite book. Over on Dani's end, things were just piling on for school work, and if it wasn't for Beth being there, Dani's room would be filled with homework and work to get the needed extra credit just to pass this semester. Sometimes Dani really envies the fact that Beth has the brainiac gene in her, if Dani herself had it, things would be vastly easier for her schooling. But it's the struggle that makes Dani love what she does, so she can't complain too much, can she? It's now inching closer to when Dani is supposed to pick up Marley, Christmas Eve morning. Dani has been up all night from how excited she was, and almost kept Beth up along with her just because she's that damn excited. At some point though, fatigue hit Dani like a ton of bricks and she was out of it. Around 8:30 in the morning there was a knock at the door, Beth sleepily got up to answer it.
"Hey, you woke me up." Beth mumbles and rubs her eyes for a second, she looks up to see that it was indeed Marley. "Marls." she wraps her arms tight around Marley for a few seconds. "I thought Dani was picking you up?"
Marley held Beth with a smile. "We all know how I am, I love dishing out great surprises." she says then lifts up Beth some. "Also it's rude to keep me out of the apartment when it's freezing." Marley walks with Beth in her arms; she nudges the door close with her foot then sets Beth down. "Is Dani asleep?" she asks.
Beth nodded a couple times. "Yeah, she fell asleep like… Two hours ago, she was up quite a bit last night, and woke me up multiple times because she was bored." she yawns in her hand. "You can get Sleeping Beauty; I am going to get some coffee in my system." Beth walks over to the kitchen.
The brunette chuckles and sets her bag down by the coffee table. She then walks over to where her and Dani's room is located, she quietly opens the door and walks to Dani's side of the bed. Marley sits down and turns a bit to get a better look at her fiancée. 'My god… She gets more beautiful every time I see her...' she smiles calmly then reaches over to hold Dani's hand. "Hey… Dani… Wake up." she says loud enough for Dani to hear, but not too loud to startle her.
"Too tired, B. Later." Dani mumbles, not even close to being conscious and realize who's trying to get her to wake up. She pulls the duvet up and snuggles into a pillow that isn't hers, but she got used to.
"B is in the kitchen, making us coffee." Marley tries not to giggle at how adorable sleepy Dani is, she scoots a bit closer then leans in some. "Open your eyes, and turn your head mon amour" she says quietly.
Her tiredness is forgotten the moment her mind makes the connection between the voice and who it's belong to. Dani's eyes shot open and after a few seconds of unclarity, she can clearly see Marley sitting next to her on the bed. "M-Marls?" She feels a little lightheaded from all the excitement rushing back in her body. Dani jumps up and leaps into her fiancée's body, wrapping her arms and legs around her as tightly as she possibly can, causing the other woman to fall back on the mattress.
"Woah!" Marley giggles and holds Dani as tight as she can without hurting her; she runs one hand through Dani's hair, gazing into her eyes. "My god, how do you get more beautiful while I look the same, bland, boring person?" she asks.
"What the hell are you talking 'bout?" Dani stays close, only lifting her head so she could have a better look at the face she missed so much. "You're a goddess, everything about you is gorgeous." She states. Marley is her drug, just a few moments with her and it's like part of her was lit up and now she's complete. She can see, touch, smell and hear the woman she loves, all that's missing is to taste her and that can be easily fixed. Dani closes her eyes and leans in, having no problem finding Marley's lips, she crush hers against her fiancée's, occasionally stopping to get tiny bits of air.
That electricity that Marley feels through her system, the mixture of Dani's weight and her lips against Marley just makes her feel like she's the queen of the world. Marley cups Dani's face, gently sucking on her fiancée's bottom lip for a few seconds then opens her mouth slightly, running her tongue against Dani's bottom lip.
Dani moans without a care in the world, her hands tangle in Marley's hair and she tries to get them closer, despite it being impossible. She sucks on her fiancée's tongue for a few second before letting their tongues reunite as well. With every passing moment in Marley's arms, Dani feels more relaxed, the constant stress about what's going on with her soldier is lifted and she's thankful, even if it's only temporary. Mid moan and before letting it heated, Dani pulls away with her brows furrowed. "Hold on.. Wasn't I supposed to pick you up much later?" She asks and panic starts to build up inside of her. "Nothing is ready! I still need to cook and clean-"
Marley places a finger on Dani's lips to stop her. "Hey, you're fine, everything is fine." she says with confidence. "Besides, we work better when everything is on the spot, right?" she asks with a smile on her face.
Dani pouts against her lover's finger and kiss it before returning the hand to her waist. "I just wanted you to come to a clean home and a hot meal." She says, feeling disappointed. "There is hot water; I could make you something while you take a shower." Dani doesn't really want to move from Marley's body, but her fiancée just came home after almost a year, she needs to be spoiled.
"You know a shower would be nice, but there is a problem with that…" Marley slightly bites her lip. "I don't want your body to be away from mine, at all." she states with a slight frown.
"Me neither." Dani keeps her pout and rests her forehead against Marley's. "I missed you so freaking much. I can spend this week staying just like we are now and it'd perfect." It's true, being in Marley's arms is all Dani needs and wants. Too bad they're humans with stupid needs like eating.
"We don't have a lot to do today, right?" Marley asks. "Maybe we can stay like this in some warm water, and bubbles, and talk." she suggests as one hand runs through Dani's hair while her other hand runs against the woman's back.
Dani hums in the simple pleasure she feels and moves to rest her head on Marley's chest. "We have enough time until the evening, but you should eat and rest." She says, nuzzling her fiancée's neck. "You're alright, right? You're feeling fine?" She'd have to check herself for any injuries later, but the mental state isn't less important and Dani is worried about any baggage Marley might be carrying.
"Yes, I'm fine." Marley says and continues to graze Dani's back, occasionally pressing her fingers in to feel the bumps in Dani's spine. "Are you okay?" she asks.
"Yeah, since Beth moved in I'm doing much better." Dani answers. Her hand, the one that isn't gripping Marley's shirt, is wandering from the woman's face, to her neck, arm and even finds its way to her toned stomach. "Gee, Marls.. Having a lot of time to work out?" She asks and bites her lip, trying hard not to move her legs and create friction; it can wait for later. The thought that replaces the lustful one is that if Marley spends her time working out, it means she's less in danger, that'd be good if it's the case.
Marley smirked and bit her lip a slight amount. "I might, I must say that I am impressed with how my physique is now." she says in a low tone. "Just wait until you see my bare arms as well, you might drool quite a bit." Marley chuckles softly while getting a slightly tighter grip on her fiancée.
Dani groans quietly into Marley's chest. "You're seriously teasing me?" She chuckles and looks up. She gazes into Marley's eyes and cups her face. "I'm glad you're ok and I love you so, so much." She tells the woman while softly grazing her cheeks.
"I love you too, ma belle muse." Marley moves one hand up and down Dani's back, missing this woman more than anything. Her hair, smile, even the chin dimple that Marley loves so much, she missed, and she was more than happy to come home to this beautiful woman that is her fiancée.
Dani sighs in content and smiles. She pecks Marley's lips and rolls to the side. "As much as I'd love spending our week like this, there is a lot to do..." She says stands up. "You need to eat something, shower and get some rest before the evening, then tomorrow we're going over to your mom's, then mine, you need to meet your brother in-law." She tells the other woman while putting socks on. "Right at this moment though, I need coffee!" She holds her hand, waiting for Marley to take; not being able to stay in bed all day doesn't mean she has to be away from her soldier.
Marley bites her lip and keeps her smile as she gets up. "Fine, but after Christmas it's back in bed to cuddle the remainder of the week." she partially jokes as she goes to grab a set of clothes to wear. The brunette has changed so much physically that she's not so sure if her old clothes will fit anymore; she hopes they do that's for sure. Marley grabs a lavender long sleeved shirt, a pair of blue baggy denim jeans, and her own holiday underwear then turns to look at Dani. "Have a cup made for me for when I get out of the shower, babe?" she asks.
"Of course, my love." Dani nods and leans to steal a couple more kisses. "If you need to do any shopping or need anything, tell me. Now I'm gonna go before I regret letting you shower alone." She laughs and walks out to the kitchen.
Not only Dani and Marley were having a great morning, just outside the city, in their dream home, Rachel was enjoying hers. She woke up early, just before Riley and let her wife sleep in. She changed her son, then took him downstairs for his breakfast. Riley is now five months old and by now he starts babbling, rolling over and is much more responsive to sights, noises and voices and music; he loves it when Dex barks and when his family talks to him. Another important thing is that the mothers begins to eat him solid food; breast milk is still the main food the baby consumes, yet during the main feeding times, the mothers try to give him a few spoons of mashed fruits or vegetables, but mainly they feed him rice cereal mixed with breast milk. This morning, Rachel put him in the high chair and put some music on, loud enough for only her and Riley to enjoy. Waking up with good energies, she began to first make Riley's breakfast while singing.
Upstairs, Santana stirred in bed and tried to find her wife's warm body to cuddle into. Not being able to do that, she opened her eyes and saw that Rachel was already up. She tried to listen to the baby monitor, maybe catch a morning story time, but the only thing she heard was silence. Feeling like she won't fall back asleep and should really start the day, Santana gets up; put her slippers and robe and walks downstairs to find her wife and son. As close as she gets to the kitchen, Santana can hear music and Rachel's beautiful voice. When the kitchen comes into sight, Santana smiles widely; Riley looks happy watching his mom moves around, singing and Dex at the foot of the boy's high chair. She regrets not bringing her phone with her; she really wants a picture of it.
"Buenos días." Santana says, not wanting to startle Rachel. "I see you're having a party." She grins at her wife, then walks to place a soft kiss on Riley's cheek. "You wanted quality time with you mom, that's why I wasn't invited?" She asks the boy who just demands in his own way to be lifted into his mama's arms. She tells him he need to eat first, then turns to look at Rachel.
Rachel slightly looked over at Santana, smiling shyly at her wife. "Come here." she signals Santana with her finger and turns around to fully look at her.
Santana does as asked without hesitating and takes a few steps until she's in front of her wife. "Ugh, how did I get so lucky?" She bites her lip. "You look so beautiful, you actually shine."
"You just caught me in one of the best moods of my life, plus you being here improves the said mood." Rachel hooks her arms around Santana's neck and kisses her lips a couple times. "First, taste these hash browns." she turns a bit to grab her sample fork, cuts a tiny portion of the hash browns and digs the fork in it, lifting it to Santana's lips. "Say ahh." she says and Riley over at the end of the room does the noise before Santana can. "Thanks, sweetie." Rachel smiles at Riley for a few seconds.
Santana laughs and again, does as she was told; she opens her mouth and tastes the small portion on the fork. "Hmm.. So good!" She says and rolls her eyes. "I know we love the holidays, but someone is really excited about Christmas this year." Santana sneak her hands under Rachel's shirt for the warmth and hold her close.
"I might have done something a bit amazing for a family member of ours… Well, sorta-family member of ours." Rachel says and wraps her arms around Santana's neck, brushing her nose against Santana's. "I may, or may not have gotten Millie's debt lowered quite a bit." she says shyly. "And I got her an extension on when she needs to pay her debt."
"Are you serious?" Santana gasps. "Babe, that's amazing! You.. I c-can't even find a word to describe how wonderful you are." She brings Rachel closer to her and starts pecking her lips. "You're an angel, mi amor." Santana is glad that Rachel was able to help Millie, to ease her burden, and seeing her wife this happy is everything for the Latina.
"I also forked over a couple grand towards her way, to kinda help out a tiny bit more." Rachel admits shyly. "I was gonna go to my bank and get the difference but Millie really didn't want me to, and also I know you would be concerned about that fact if I did." she purses her lips for a few seconds. "I just want Millie's New Year to start off great, this year she had to struggle with the fact that Marley enlisted and when Marley got called to overseas, Millie was struggling with the idea of the last time she saw her daughter could possibly be the last time." she adds on with a slight frown.
Santana tensed when Rachel said she gave Millie money; she didn't want Millie to feel like it was charity and even though she has no problem spending money, she must know where it's going and every little detail when it's a big amount. But then Rachel started talking about Marley being in the military and Millie's struggle, how could she be worried or angry? "You did a good thing for a family member, Rach. I'm proud of you; you're a great role model for our children and an awesome person." The compliments come easily, Rachel earned them. "You made Millie's life easier and soon she'd be out of this debt and could enjoy her life. Besides, Marley is coming home for a little bit; she's probably feeling really good, for once after a long time."
"Most likely, huh?" Rachel's frown was turned upside down; she pecks Santana's lips once more then turns around to finish on the food. "Oh, your mom left to get some blended coffees for us." she explains.
Hugging Rachel from behind, Santana leans closer to her ear. "Is there a reason you're telling me that, Mrs. Lopez?" She asks with a smirk.
"Because our coffee machine broke and the stores will be jam-packed with people getting last minute Christmas sales." Rachel answers, mirroring the smirk that she knows Santana has. "So I figured this weekend I can get us a new one, I mean, we do kinda need a new one anyways, the one we had was the one my dads bought me when we first moved to New York." she says.
Santana pouts and rests her head on Rachel's shoulder. "Yeah, a new coffee machine, whatever." She really shouldn't be disappointed that it's not going the way she thought; their baby is right there, her mom would probably come back soon and Rachel is in the middle of making breakfast. "I'll just go to someone who'd be happy to give me some love." And pull my hair or squeeze my face, Santana continues in her head. She untangles her arms from around Rachel's body and smiles at their boy, who's busy watching Dex and trying to communicate with him.
Rachel rolls her eyes then quickly moves to Santana, wraps her arm around her wife and places a couple gentle kisses under Santana's ear. "I love you, so damn much." she whispers. "When little man goes to sleep, I will give you as much love as you can handle, okay?" she asks and bites her lip.
"Are we talking his morning nap or at night?" Santana looks over her shoulder with narrowed her eyes and taps her fingers over the hand Rachel has around her.
"Morning nap." Rachel holds Santana a bit tighter and kisses under Santana's ear once more. "Does that sound good to you, love?"
"Sounds perfect." She answers. "And I love you too." She brings Rachel's hand to her mouth and place a kiss on it. "Now let's starts this breakfast, I bet we're all hungry and we have plans for today."
Rachel nods and turns to finish breakfast. It didn't take long, just some stirring of the eggs to pour over the hashbrowns, which was something new so she wanted to make sure it had the right amount of heat to the eggs. "Okay… Done." she says and turns off the skillet along with the stove. "Let's eat."
It's heading towards the evening, Marley, Beth, and Dani all spent the day shopping for last minute gifts for the family. It was exhausting of course, but they were each satisfied with everything they got. The girls did briefly visit Millie while she was getting ready to her shift at her second job, and luckily there was good vibes coming from the older Rose. Santana had given her Christmas Eve and Day off to spend with the family, or at least as much time as she had to be able to before having to go to her second job. Marley and Millie briefly caught up as much as they could on the limited schedule they had. After that visit, it was time to do something a little different, now that Beth has a significant other in Emily, Marley and Dani finally have a couple to double date with. They briefly talked about this prior to Marley's arrival, but it didn't take the excitement out of what they had planned. Dani pre-ordered four tickets to go ice skating at the local ice rink, luckily for them there weren't many people there so they can be a bit more expressive with their affection while skating.
As Dani and Marley were getting their skates on, Beth was pacing around the front of them, feeling a bit impatient about the whereabouts of Emily. The blonde looks at her watch then back at in front of her, continuing to pace. "Where is she?" she mumbles to herself while continuing to walk.
Marley watches as Beth paces, she leans in a bit to where she is in whispering distance from Dani. "What's up with Beth?" she asks.
Dani looks over at her aunt and grins. "What you're witnessing is Beth becoming completely head over heels with a certain redhead." She tells her happily. "And you just wait 'till you see her, you'd think this adorkable blonde actually has game." She bites her lip to stop herself from laughing.
"Oh really?" Marley asks as she slips on the skates then adjusting herself to sit up straight. "This'll be interesting." she says and scoots closer to Dani, wrapping her arm around her fiancée's waist.
Having an apology ready and rehearsed, Emily makes her way to where Beth told her they'd be waiting. It's a cold evening so she dressed warm, but also to impress. Seeing the group, Emily fixes her hair and scarf and walks faster to get to her girlfriend. "I'm so sorry I'm late!" She starts. "I was ready on time, but my brother and sister are home and it took me a bit of time to get out of there." She tells Beth, taking the blonde's hands in hers.
Beth furrowed her eyebrows, followed by a frown to add on her expression. "It's okay." she slightly nods. "I just miss you, that's all…" she mumbles the last part of her sentence.
Marley raised a brow and almost giggled at the sight. "Remind you of anyone, Dani?" she whispers.
Dani rolls her eyes, but smiles. She leans against her fiancée's side and bury her hands in her coat. "We're all love-sick puppies, ok." She jokes. Well, partially. "But isn't she cute? She looks so girly, but she has a nerdy side as well."
Just a few feet from the couple on the bench, Emily put Beth's hands on her waist and her own on the blonde's waist. She takes a step closer and gives her a small smile. "I missed you too. My day was so slow because I waited to see you." She easily admits, but her cheeks turn a shade redder.
Beth bites the inside of her lip and gently rises up to peck Emily's lips. "Good, it's partial karma for being late." she says in a quiet but joking manner. "Now come, you need to meet someone." she says and turns around to face Dani and Marley, making sure Emily's hand was held after she pulled away. "Emily, that woman that Dani is holding onto for dear life, is Marley." she says. "Marley, this beautiful woman is my girlfriend, Emily." her cheeks lit up as she smiles genuinely.
Marley waves her hand. "Hello, Emily." she greets with a smile.
"Hey, nice meeting you." Emily says back. "Glad to see you returned safely," She glances at Dani, knowing that she struggled during their time apart. "-And thank you for your service." She says politely and pulls Beth just a little closer.
Watching the interaction, Dani thinks that this is so great and wishes for the rest of the night to go well. Having Marley home and enjoy double dates is something she wanted, especially with Beth and Emily going strong. Dani does hope Marley and Emily would get along; she turns to her aunt and winks.
"Most soldiers would ask for a salute." Marley jokes as she carefully stands up. "Well, since Dani and I are actually ready to skate, we will give you two some alone time before annoying you to join us." she says then looks over at Dani. "C'mon babe." she smiles a bit more.
Dani was a little torn; she wanted to be the old couple that embarrasses the young one with questions and talking about the future. But they're going to hang out later to get to know each other, so let the fun begin. "Don't take too long." She tells the other two and walks with Marley.
"She seems nice, really looks like a match with Dani." Emily comments when they're alone. She walks to sit down and looks at her girlfriend. "You're cute." She simply says.
"Yes, yes I am." Beth sits beside Emily, turning a bit to face her. "And don't you forget it." she gently pokes Emily's nose then scoots closer to her. "In all seriousness though, thank you." she nods a few times then purses her lips.
"By the way, I brought you your gift, since I wasn't sure if we'd see each other tomorrow." The redhead says while taking her heels off. "It's in the car. I put it on the driver's seat so I won't accidently forget it."
"Did you ask your parents if you could spend tomorrow with us?" Beth asks and gently grazes Emily's lap, looking into her eyes. "The reason I ask is because my gift for you is at the apartment." she explains quietly.
"They want to have a family morning, then eat lunch together." She explains and finishing putting her skates on. "I could probably sneak out after that.. Will you be home by then?" Emily asks and lifts Beth's legs to her lap, taking her girlfriend's shoes off.
"I can try, but considering that Marley just got back, my entire family might want to make this an all-day thing." Beth says then leans against the backrest of the bench. "Maybe I can get out early, but that's only assuming that Dani and Marley want to go as well." she continues then looks over at her niece and future in-law.
Emily rubs Beth's legs for a moment, then puts the skates on them while she tries to think of a solution. "I could pick you up from your sister's, but I doubt if they'd be pleased about that.." It looks like they're not going to spend their first Christmas as a couple together. "We can Skype when you get home and meet up the next day for brunch, since I have a shift later.." Emily tries to come up with something, but she's not happy about it.
Beth's frown returns as she looks towards her lap. "You can't come by, at all?" she asks quietly then lets out a soft sigh. "I guess we can Skype and meet up the day after…" she mumbles whilst keeping her frown.
"Babe, I can, but you're not going to be at the apartment the whole day.." Emily hates that and seeing this look on her girlfriend's face, but there is nothing she can do about it.
"I know…" Beth closed her eyes for a few seconds, letting out a deep sigh. "Tell you what, after this and dinner, you and I can spend a bit more time together." she says quietly. "Maybe we can exchange gifts up on the hill, then have a special kiss before we need to go back to our families."
Emily turns to Beth with a bright smile and nods. "Yeah, I like this idea very much." She holds Beth's legs with one hand and uses the other to pull the blonde closer. "We should take something hot to drink, though; it's not the time to get sick." Now that Beth is close and Emily checks no one is paying attention to them, she glances at the girl's lips. "Say.. That kiss.. Is it something you've read and want to try or is it going to be special in a cheesy-romantic way?" She asks in a lower tone.
Beth reaches her hand out to graze Emily's upper abdomen. "It's a mixture of both, I think." she says then looks at Emily's lips; she bites her own lip and smiles some. "It does require the use of 34 of our muscles to do so, some intentional slips of the tongue." she raises up a bit to whisper into Emily's ear.
"Damn.." Emily's hold on Beth tightens. "You know how much I like it when you get all smart about stuff." Until Beth, Emily didn't know how big of a turn on having a partner with extensive knowledge really is for her. "And now I really want to kiss you."
A few feet from them, Dani clears her throat. "Do I need to remind you this is a double date?" She asks and arches a perfectly shaped brow. "If we got out to socialize, you can too. Come on, love birds," She signs them to join, then turns back to Marley.
Beth's face was rather flushed as she glares at Dani; she growls under her breath but then shakes her head. "Are you, uh… Good on getting your skates on, Em?" she asks as she looks back at her girlfriend.
Emily leans to sneak a quick kiss. "Now I am." She answers and carefully moves Beth's legs back to the ground. "Let's go."
Going ice skating was a great idea; it provided a perfect balance between time to have fun as a group and as couples. Skating together helped reduce the pressure and nervousness of Emily and Marley's meeting; they all laughed together and simply enjoy the activity, no awkwardness was there. What also probably helped was Emily's outgoing personality; if the other three have a harder time with new people and need more time to open up; Emily is good at comfortably getting people to this place and making new connections.
The young couples also needed their time alone, after all ice skating can be very romantic. Marley and Dani were in need for just that and the closeness felt good, they naturally got back to the place where they left off. For Beth and Emily it was still new and so very much exciting. They skated together in different positions, at one point aunt and niece started to chase one another. They goofed around and laughed hysterically.
The good start allowed them to move to the second part of their evening more comfortably. The weirdness mostly fades away and all four of them wanted to catch up over a nice dinner. They had reservations at 6 thirty and since Emily came with her car, the couples drove separately. Emily followed Dani because she knew where the restaurant was. In the middle of the drive there, Dani called Emily, the traffic was horrible and they doubted if they'd make it in time. Somehow they did with some minutes to spare. They gave their coats and scarfs, then were taken to their table. Shortly after they called their waiter and ordered, now they're simply waiting.
"Ok, I love New York City; I can't imagine living anywhere else, but the traffic.. It can drive you insane!" Dani complains, then drinks from her water.
"Oh my god, I know!" Emily is quick to agree as she combs her hair using her fingers. "I'm leaving much earlier than I could've to get on time for work or my classes." She sighs.
Beth slightly turns her body; lifting her legs up to let them rest on Emily's lap. "I am glad I don't have to drive to school, it's only a few blocks from the apartment." she points out, not trying to come off as bragging but she gets the feeling she might have been bragging. "Babe, massage my ankles until we get our food?" she asks and furrows her eyebrows.
Marley shrugs and leans back. "My schooling is just rough, learning all that code, and then doing drills shortly after… Oy." she rolls her eyes then looks at Dani. "I'm just glad to have a little bit of a break from it, you know?"
Emily nods and starts to gently massage her girlfriend's feet while on the other side of the booth Dani feels her heart clench at what Marley said. All she heard was that the woman she loves is having a hard time thousands of miles away from home. She ignores the stressed she's feeling with all the people around them and wraps one arm around Marley's body and uses the other to move along it. "And I'm going to make sure it's going to be an awesome break." She tells Marley. "You are so strong, my love, just a little longer and I'll have you all to myself forever." The words meant for Marley's ears, but it's comforting for Dani, herself, as well.
Marley had a tight hold on Dani, she rests her head on Dani's and smiles quite a bit. "Good, I plan to make sure you live up to that." she says quietly.
Beth watches over at the couple, she gets an uplifting feeling in her stomach that many forms of science can try to explain to her, but it wouldn't do what Beth is feeling any justice. "I hope to one day have that…" she thinks to herself as her eyes glaze over at Emily, she just smiles and relaxes against the wall that her back was leaning against.
"So, Marley.. Do you know what you're going to do when you come back for good?" Emily tries to light the mood and get to know more about the soldier now that she's actually here.
"I wish I knew." Marley answers honestly. "I actually was close to losing my privilege to come back for the holidays, mainly due to the fact that I decked one of the upper tier soldiers in the jaw." she bites the side of her lip for a few seconds. "But the guy had it coming to him, belittling me and the rest of my team all because we are one rank below him."
"You did what?" Dani pushes herself from Marley to get a better look at her. She can't say she's completely surprised by Marley defending someone, but she is about her using violence and against a fellow soldier. "You almost didn't come home because some teasing?" She tries not to overreact, but her expression already changed to a frown.
"You know me, Dani." Marley looks at her with a straight face. "If it was just teasing, I wouldn't bother." she shakes her head. "He was straight up bullying us, and I didn't want to deal with it, I told him to knock it off, he refused, so I punched the f… Freaking jerk." she tries her best to censor herself around Beth and Emily, especially in a restaurant where kids could listen in.
Beth was slightly surprised at hearing this story, she wanted to speak on it but it wasn't the best time to do so, not when it's supposed to be good times right now.
Dani folds her arms, she really prefer talking about it one on one and not ruin their date, but she can't help how much it bothers her. "I'm proud of you for standing up for yourself and your friend, I am." She says truthfully. "But risking getting punished and not coming home? Marley, come on, you're telling me it was worth it?" She shakes her head, having trouble holding her feelings from exploding.
"Absolutely not…" Marley answers and slightly scoots from Dani, looking down at the table. She sighs and bites the inside of her lip, trying to think of something to make this better. "I never said I was proud of what I did, and I didn't know at the time how much trouble I would have been in because the guy started it." she tries to explain but knows she's probably making it worse.
Beth can see the saddened look on Marley's face; she knows all too well how worried Dani is, and how much she loves Marley. "Dani." she calls out calmly. "She might have risked it, but that doesn't matter now, she's here, and she's safe, right?" she asks with a raised brow. "This is our date night, smile, love the fact that your fiancée is here for the week…"
Dani wants to scream and be angry at Marley.. What she truly wants to do is cry while holding her fiancée for dear life; she was so close to not seeing the woman and it's triggering so many things for her. Dani makes an effort to focus on what Beth said and the present. She gets a week off from all the worrying, seven days to enjoy knowing Marley is safe. So Dani takes a moment to collect herself, then move closer to her soldier. She cups Marley's face, getting her to look at her, and place a peck on her lips. "Losing you is not an option." She tells her. "I love you." Despite the fear that has such a strong control of her, the words come out with confidence.
For Emily it's the first time witnessing Dani in such state, let alone with Marley there. It's tensed, of course, but Emily sees beyond of it, it's overwhelming and almost unreal the love the couple across from them share. It's the kind of love everyone wish to have, even if it gets painful. She wants it to and maybe she's on the right path. She looks over at her girlfriend with a calm expression and smiles when the other couple works things out. She put more into the massage she's giving Beth and tries not thinking too much about the why her heart speeds up when she thinks about love and the blonde next to her.
Marley's eyes look at Dani's for a brief second then she gulps. "I love you too…" she says quietly then pats Dani's leg. "I need to wash my face really quick, could you come with me, babe?" Marley asks and furrows her eyebrows.
"Yeah, let's go." Dani says and scoot to the end of the booth and stands up.
Marley takes Dani's hand in her own; she walks with Dani not so far behind her as they eventually approach the bathroom. When they are in, Marley briefly let's go of Dani's hand to check each stall, making sure at least one was empty. When she gets to one, she walks back to Dani, pulls her with her into one of the stalls, closes it and locks it. Before Dani could ask what Marley had in mind, the brunette cupped her face and gave Dani as deep of a kiss as she could.
A moan escapes her lips before Dani can even register what's happening. She grips Marley's shirt and push her body closer to the woman who holds her heart. A few tears drop down as she takes Marley's lips between her teeth.
God, Marley needed this more than she would have thought. The woman she loves more than anything, this kiss, the silence that fills the room was perfect for this moment. She takes a deep breath, brushing her thumbs right under Dani's eyes, and then she brushes her tongue against Dani's bottom lip.
Dani's kiss becomes intense, but sloppy. Her emotions take the better of her; it's not like she could've lost Marley or the woman got hurt by punching that idiot, but the thought of not seeing her, even just a thought, makes her shake in fear. She holds her so tight, pushing forward so she could get a better taste and smell of her fiancée. And the tears gather in her eyes, but Dani tries not to let them fall. She needs to schedule an appointment with her therapist after this week; it's a must to keep her sanity.
Marley slowly and regretfully stops the kiss from continuing any further. If it were just her and Dani at this restaurant, she wouldn't dare think about this, but there are two young women waiting for them to come back, so it was kinda needed. She looks into Dani's eyes, seeing the tears that have been fighting to come out. "I love you so much, Dani…" she bites the inside of her lip, furrows her eyebrows and brushes their noses together. "I'm sorry… I wasn't thinking…"
"No, no." Dani shakes her head. "I'm just scared, I love that you protect others and he was a douche." She says despite her quivering lips. "I love you too, bunny, and I'm happy to have you here, even for just a week." She rests her head on her chest, tucking her feelings back under control.
Marley takes a couple more deep breaths; she holds Dani and runs one hand through the woman's hair. "You're the best person in my life…" she says and uses her other hand to graze Dani's waist, occasionally getting a slight grip on it. "I love you so much… I just… I needed to say that again."
On the outside of the stall, Beth had walked into the bathroom, letting out a soft groan as she goes to wash her hands. After she's finished she turns a bit to look over at the stall that the other girls are in, she has a shy smile on her face. "You know, your food is getting cold, and that's assuming Emily doesn't steal bites from your plates." she jokes.
The three girls went back to the table and after Emily also washed her hands, they begin to eat. The air wasn't tensed any longer after Marley and Dani's moment alone and the time was used to bond some more as a group. Emily shared funny stories about events and people from the boutique she's working at, Marley opened up some about the experience of being a soldier overseas and there were talks about college and what's being going on in the family. A few long minutes were dedicated to gushing over Riley, after all Dani and Beth were his favorite babysitters; they told Marley about the baby, showed her pictures and a few videos both girls had on their phones.
Overall, their first double date was a success. All four of them enjoyed it and agreed they should do that again the next time Marley comes home
It was still early so Beth and Emily's plan for alone time to exchange gift was still in place. They all drove to the apartment, though Emily stayed waiting in the car. While Beth went to get her present, Dani stole a few moments alone with her aunt to discuss how great their date was and how glad they both were that they all get along. On her way out Beth made a joke about even though she was going to be gone for a little while, Dani and Marley should put a sock on the door. Then the door was closed and they had the apartment all to themselves. So Dani, who didn't get to make her special dinner that night, still had Marley's favorite chocolate and a few snacks ready. The couple changed to the clothes they were going to sleep in, then settled in their room, wanting to get as comfortable as possible, with what seemed like a promising movie and dessert. Dani sat between Marley's legs, holding the popcorn bowl and scoot the closest she could to her fiancée's warmth. Marley had a steady hold on the girl's body while using the other hand to eat.
"So what did you think about Emily?" Dani asks while they're waiting for the movie to start.
Marley finished the bite of chocolate that was in her mouth, looked at Dani with a slight smile. "She's nice, definitely someone to have around, right?" she asks then looks back at the movie.
"Yeah, I'm happy you clicked." Dani says. "Beth is really into her and did you hear that comment about the sock?" She laughs. "She's getting more confidence, really growing up." Dani comments and takes a handful of popcorn to her mouth.
"How did I not hear it, she blurted that out on her way out the door." Marley chuckles. "But it is nice to get some alone time for a little bit, before our family makes us spend the rest of the week with them, which you know they will." she rolls her eyes with a slight smirk on her face. "Hey, what time is it?" she asks.
"They will, but we need to be strong and have some alone time here and there." Dani slightly pout as she glances at Marley. "And it's around eight thirty, maybe a little after.. You have somewhere to be?" She answers and chuckles.
"Nope, but there is something I need to do." Marley answers as she gets up really quick, she walks out of the room to get to her bag, when she does she reaches in it to grab a rectangular box. After she grabs the box she hides it in the pocket of her pajama pants and walks back to the bedroom. "I figured we could do some gift exchanging early… Mainly due to me really wanting to give you your present sooner than later."
"You have a weird timing, Marls." Dani put the popcorn bowl on Marley's bedside table, then moves to her side of the bed. "But I'm all for getting more cuddling time in the morning because we're exchanging now." She opens the top drawer of her bedside table and takes out a small box. "And seeing your face, I really hope you'd like it.." She turns back to Marley, biting her lip and waiting for the girl to join her.
Marley sat on the bed, scooting close to Dani and grabbing the box in the process. She nervously smiles then opens it to see a winged shaped locket. Marley gasps and smiles quite a bit. "B-Baby… It's beautiful." she looks at Dani then leans to give her fiancée a tight embrace. "Thank you." she says.
Dani blush and pulls away from the hug. "Open it." She's nervous to see what Marley would think when she sees it.
Marley opens the locket to see a drawing of them; she covers her mouth and lets out a soft noise. Her eyes gaze over to the inside of the locket door to see the words 'I'll love you til the end of time.' Seeing that touched Marley, so much so that she started to tear up a bit. "Dani… I love you." she looks over at the woman, smiling more than she did before.
"And I love you." Dani cups Marley's face and place a couple of kisses on her lips. "I'm not one to draw self-portraits, but this idea came to mind and I really wanted you to have it, especially while you're away." She had a chance to tell Marley how artistic she felt during the last few months and this is the first thing she got to show her. Seeing her reaction, Dani is filled with even more love, with pride and joy. 'Remember the good times' She reminds herself and smiles. "My turn?" Dani asks shyly.
Marley nods a few times. "Uh, turn around… And close your eyes." she requests then bites her lip.
Being both intrigued and excited, Dani turns her back to Marley and shot her eyes.
Marley pulled the rectangular box from her pocket, opened it up, and pulled out a silver necklace with a ruby pendant; she carefully gets the necklace on Dani. Once she's done with that she bites her lip. "Open your eyes, love."
Dani does just that and since she felt Marley's hands putting something around her neck, she looks down. She quickly brings her hand over her mouth to cover the gasp at seeing the necklace. "Oh my god, Marls, it's so beautiful." She tells her fiancée and turns around to hug her. "Thank you!"
"Only the best, for my best." Marley holds Dani as tight as she could without hurting her, takes a deep breath and sighs happily. "Merry Christmas, babe." she says quietly.
"Merry Christmas, my future wife." Dani says and place a kiss on Marley's cheek. When she pulls away, Dani holds the pendant so she could look at it better. "I'm starting to get used to it," She jokes. "A ring, a pretty necklace.. It's too much, Marls."
Marley shrugs whilst smiling; she places a hand on Dani's lap and grazes it gently. "Well, when I get back for good, you'll be getting nothing but the best from me, emotionally, and physically." she says with some confidence in her voice. "Then, when we're married, you'll get better than the best from me." Marley leans to kiss Dani's lips once.
Dani locks her arms around her fiancée's neck and scoots closer to her. "Always the romantic, my knight." She digs her fingers in Marley's hair and gaze into her eyes. "I started to save for our marriage." Dani reveals quietly. "A tiny amount from each paycheck I get, so it won't be a lot, but it is something. I know there is still a long time for it, but saving money makes it feel real while you're not here and it's going to be ours to spend on celebrating our love.." Dani is able to tell Marley all that without looking away and actually doesn't feel nervous at all. She knows it's thanks to the woman in front of her, with only her presence she makes Dani feel better.
"I guess great minds do think alike." Marley brushes her nose against Dani's a few times. "I too have been saving up, to have the perfect day and the perfect honeymoon with the perfect woman to complete everything in my life." she admits somewhat easily.
Dani giggles, not surprised that Marley had the same idea, but she's not less happy about it. And wow, did she missed hearing these sweet words that make her feel so safe, worthy and loved. She missed the great person Marley is. "I'm so happy you're all mine." She says and moves to sit on Marley's lap.
"Imagine how I feel, knowing you're mine?" Marley asks as she wraps her arms around Dani's waist, one hand slightly lifting up inside Dani's shirt. "I'll give you a hint, I feel pretty good knowing this." she says then sports a slight smirk on her face.
"Hmm.. Glad to hear that." Dani wraps her legs around Marley's body and close any distance between their bodies. "It's been so long, Marls, and knowing how it can be with you, doing it by myself wasn't enough." She admits while rubbing her cheek against the other woman's, then resting her forehead on hers. "No rush." Marley says then reaches over to the lamp, turning it off then she grabs the remote to turn off the TV. After she turned everything off, she wrapped an arm over Dani's waist. "Good night, my muse." she says quietly before closing her eyes.
Comfortable and fully relaxed, Dani adjusts her head on the pillow for the last time. "Good night, my brave snuggle bunny." She mumbles and let sleep take over, which only take a few short moments. Snuggled up to one another is how the young couple spends most of the night. It's amazing how much they missed each other and what only one day together can do to the both of them. The next six days going to memorable, that's for sure.
