Dick Stabler stopped just inside the door. "What are you doing here? And it's not Dickie. It's Dick."

"Oh. Sorry." Olivia just stood there, not sure of what to do or say. She knew Dick had been upset the other day; she wasn't sure how he was feeling now.

"What are you doing here?" he asked again, slamming the door behind him.

"I just stopped by to…" She paused. She didn't really want to tell Elliot's son that she was moving stuff over to her apartment. "I was dropping some of your dad's stuff off for him." She gestured to the bags on the couch. Dick didn't have to know those bags had been on their way out the door instead of in.

"Huh." Dick said, walking into the apartment and dropping his backpack on the floor. He pushed the bags to the side and dropped onto the couch.

"Does you Dad know you're here?" asked Olivia, wondering why Dick was here in the middle of the week.

"Does he know you're here?" Dick shot back at her. "Oh wait, you probably have a key. My dad would want his girlfriend to have a key." He sneered when he said the word girlfriend.

Olivia stood where she was and looked at him. She wasn't sure how to handle this. Should she just leave? Or should she take this opportunity to try to talk to him? She walked into the living room and sat down in a chair that was adjacent to the couch.

"So, why are you here on a Thursday? Does your Dad know you were coming over?" asked Olivia. She had never heard Elliot talk about the kids coming over during the week, but that didn't mean anything.

"None of your business." said Dick, turning on the TV. He flipped channels until he found something he wanted to watch, and threw the remote on the coffee table.

Olivia picked up the remote and turned off the TV. "Hey, I think we need to talk."

Dick shot her a dirty look. "I don't have anything I want to say to you."

"Dick, I've known you since you were 6. We used to be friends." She knew she was pushing it. The girls had always been friendly towards Olivia, hugging her and vying for her attention. Dick had always hung back a little, and he had gotten more distant as he got older.

"We weren't friends." Dick said, sounding angry. "I heard my mom and dad fighting about you. I heard my mom crying. I might not have known what the fighting was about when I was 6…but when I got older, it all made sense."

"Dick…I don't know what your parents fought about, but I swear that your dad and I never…"

"Save it. I don't believe you." He stood up and walked across the room, towards the windows. Olivia could see he was trembling with anger. He had obviously inherited his Dad's anger management issues. He spun around. "Look at you. You're beautiful… You're hot. You have guys falling all over you. Why don't you find your own husband instead of stealing someone else's?" He rushed over towards her and Olivia pulled back a little. He was angry, and she wasn't sure what he would do. He stopped a foot away from her, and leaned down, his face just a few inches from hers. She flinched as he yelled in her face. "Why did you have to put your hooks in my dad? Why couldn't you leave him alone?"

"Dick. Please back up." Olivia was a little nervous with Dick hovering over her. She wanted to push him back with her hands, but she didn't want to start a physical altercation with him.

"No! I want an answer! Why him? You could have any fucking guy out there." Dick put his hands on the arms of the chair next to her, caging her in the chair. His face was red and he was really trembling now. "My Dad loved my Mom, until you came along. You're a whore! I hate you!" He stood up suddenly, and Olivia was actually afraid that he was going to hit her. She braced herself slightly, and then Dick let out a strangled cry and walked away from her, smacking a fist into the wall next to the window.

As soon as Dick had moved away from her, Olivia stood up. She felt too vulnerable sitting down. She looked over at Dick, who had his face to the window. Olivia looked at the way he was shaking; he was crying. She hesitated a moment, and walked up slowly behind him. She placed a hand on his shoulder, but he shrugged it off.

"Dick" she said softly.

"Leave me alone." he said quietly, his rage gone.

"I know you don't want to talk to me, but will you listen?" She paused. She didn't get any kind of reply, so she kept going. "I know you don't believe me, but your Dad never cheated on your mom. Not with me, or anyone else. Your Dad worked really hard to save his marriage to your Mom. Really hard. And I did too. I love your Dad, and his happiness means everything to me. And he wanted his marriage to work; and I supported him in that. His family…you kids…mean so much to him."

Dick still didn't turn around, but he seemed to be listening.

"Even when your Dad was separated from your Mom…your Dad and I never even talked about a relationship. I swear to you…this just happened. Just a few days ago. I don't know what I can do to convince you." She put her hand back on his shoulder, and this time, he didn't shrug it off. "Dick. I love your Dad, and I'm pretty sure he loves me…but I couldn't live with myself if I came between the two of you. Or between your Dad and your sisters. If you don't believe me…if you can't see a way that we can work this out, then I'll tell your Dad that it's not going to work." She dropped her hand from his shoulder and sighed. She walked away, heading towards the door. A tear had escaped and she wiped it away.

"Wait." Dick said in a hushed voice; she almost missed it.

Olivia turned around, surprised to hear him speak. When she did, she saw Dick had turned around too. She saw a little boy vs. the young man he had become. He looked so sad; so vulnerable. She wanted to reach out to him and pull him in a hug but she knew that wasn't going to go over well. Instead, she just stood her ground, waiting for him to say something else.

"When I was little, I looked up to my Dad." Dick looked down at his feet. "I really liked you when I first met you. I thought you were so pretty, and I imagined you and my Dad catching the bad guys. But as I got older, my Dad was gone more and more. My Mom always made excuses for him and it was fine." He looked up at her. "When I was maybe 11, I remember waking up to my Mom and Dad fighting. And I snuck out in the hall. I could hear them then, and they were arguing about you. My mom accused my Dad of having sex with you; and I knew what that was…I was horrified and I snuck back in my room. I couldn't believe my Dad would do that; I knew it was wrong." He looked back down at his feet. "As I got even older, I really started to hate him, and you. I realized how much time my Dad spent with you; and every time I saw you, I thought about you two together. My parents still fought about you sometimes. All my friends said you were hot and I knew it was true. I understood why my Dad would pick you; I knew my Dad was cheating on my Mom." He walked over to the couch and sat down. "I've believed it for so long…"

Olivia sat back down in the chair. "Dick. I'm really sorry that your Mom and Dad fought about me. And I'm sorry you're Dad worked so much; it's just the job. I know he wanted to be home more. But I SWEAR to you…there wasn't anything physical between your Dad and me. We weren't the reason you're parents split up…at least not directly. I know your Dad still loves your Mom, and he always will."

Dick didn't say anything and Olivia just stayed quiet. She had told him everything she could. It was up to him now. Dick swiped at his cheeks, still looking at the coffee table. She knew how hard this was for him. She thought maybe it would be better if she just left.

"Dick, I'm going to go now, but I think you should talk to your Dad." Olivia started to stand.

"Did you mean what you said?" he asked.

Olivia wasn't sure which part he was talking about but it was all true. "Yes, every word."

"If I wasn't OK with this, you'd tell my Dad that you couldn't be together?"

Olivia bit her bottom lip. "Yes." she said, her voice hitching slightly.

Dick looked back up at her. "I think it's going to take me some time to get used to…this. I've spent so many years believing you were tempting my dad…stealing him away from us…"

"I understand." Olivia said.

"You know, my mom is dating someone else too."

Olivia nodded. "Your sister's told me."

"It's not supposed to work out this way. Ya' know? No one wants their parents to split up."

"I know. I know all of this change is hard for you and your sisters."

"Yeah." Dick sighed heavily and leaned back against the couch.

"I still think you should talk to your Dad…" Olivia said.

"I will." Dick said. He looked up at Olivia. "I'm sorry I called you a whore."

Olivia smiled. "In my line of work, I've been called worse."

Just then, Olivia's phone rang. She looked down and saw it was Elliot. "It's your Dad. Should I get it?"

Dick shrugged his shoulders. "Go ahead."

Olivia answered. "Hey."

Elliot was surprised he didn't get the normal 'Benson' when she answered.

"I wasn't sure if you were going to answer. What's going on?" he asked.

"Not much." she answered.

"Is it OK if I come over tonight? I'd like to talk and get an update on your doctor visit."

"I think you should go home." she said. She heard Elliot start to object. "You have company."

"I have company?" Elliot asked, wondering how she knew.

"Yeah. There's someone here that needs to talk to you."

"Are you at my apartment?" Elliot was really confused.

"Hold on." Olivia said. She held out her phone to Dick. He looked at her apprehensively, but took the phone from her.

"Dad."

"Dick?"

"Yeah. Hey, are you going to be home later? I'd like to talk."

Elliot wasn't sure what had happened between Dick and Olivia, but he was happy to hear that Dick wanted to talk to him. "Sure! I'll be home as soon as I can."

"Can we order pizza?" asked Dick.

Olivia smiled. She had a feeling everything was going to work out. Dick finished up his conversation and handed the phone back to Olivia.

"I don't know what you said to him, but whatever it was; it sounds like you got through to him." Elliot said when he got Olivia back on the phone.

"We can talk later. I'm going to head home. Goodbye." Olivia hung up on Elliot and stood up to go.

"I'm going to get going." she said to Dick. "Thanks for listening to me."

"Yeah." He stood up, unsure of how to say goodbye. Olivia just walked towards the door, ending the awkwardness.

"I hope you and your Dad can have a good talk tonight."

Dick gave her a half smile as she walked out the door.
