Alex and Maggie dropped Kara and Lena off at Lena's apartment. Lena helped Kara into the lobby and over to the elevator. "Are you sure you want to stay here tonight? I don't mind spending the night at your place too."
"I want to be with you" Kara said as she leant against the wall of the elevator.
"I know that" Lena smiled, "but you aren't looking that great though" Lena said as she cupped Kara's cheek, concerned about the woman she saw weakly standing before her.
"Wow, really setting the mood" Kara joked, barely opening her eyes.
"No, I'm serious, babe. You look a bit flushed. Are you feeling okay?" Lena asked, wrapping her arm around her girlfriend, giving her extra support at the elevator dinged open again.
"I'm good. I'm just a bit tired, but I'm totally ready to take you to bed" Kara tried to say seductively before sneezing.
"Oh, I think I will be the one taking you to bed" Lena laughed as she led Kara straight to the bedroom.
"Oooh, I like this alpha side of you" Kara said slightly slurred, eyes closed, allowing Lena to guide her.
Lena just smiled as she guided Kara all the way to the bedroom. She helped her to sit down on the bed. Kara was clearly not feeling well. As Kara sat on the edge of the bed, Lena helped her take off her shirt. She gently let her fingers trail over the bruises that were forming on Kara's back and arms. This was a sight Lena wasn't use too. Her invincible girl wasn't so invincible after all. She helped Kara slip into some of her pajamas and laid her back on the bed.
"mmm kiss me baby" Kara mumbled as Lena pulled the blanket up to her chin, she stifled a giggle as she leant down and gave Kara a quick kiss on her forehead. She was shocked to feel her head was so hot. She turned and quickly grabbed her cell phone.
"Hey Alex, I am so sorry to bother you" Lena said into the phone.
"I really don't want to hear about anything that you two have been up to" Alex said without even a breath.
"No, we haven't done anything. She is running a fever."
"I'll be right there" and with that the line went dead.
Lena went back to the bedroom with some water and a damp cloth. Kara was tossing and turning on the bed. "Hey, it's okay, babe" Lena soothed as she put the cloth on Kara's head. Kara immediately calmed down. Her breathing became steadier and she began to drift into a more peaceful sleep. Lena looked down at her as she brushed some hair out of her face. She couldn't help but think about everything that Kara had gone through. It would have crushed anyone else, but it didn't stop Kara from being the loving, adorable, caring girl that she was. How did she get so lucky to have her in her life?
Lena lost track of time as she sat beside Kara, continually soothing her head with a damp cloth. She gently held one of Kara's hands in her own. She was still upset as she looked down at the bruised knuckles. She gently massaged her fingers.
Lena jumped when she felt a hand on her back. "Hey Lena, how's our girl?" Alex said softly looking down at Lena before making her way around the other side of the bed.
"Well, she is resting now" Lena said looking back down at Kara.
"She looks pretty good. It looks like she just has picked up a common bug" Alex said, lifting Kara's wrist and feeling her pulse. "Everything seems normal for being a human, but because she is Kryptonian, you might need to show her a little extra loving care" Alex said with a smile as she looked over at Lena.
Lena still didn't look up from Kara but continued to gently run her fingers over Kara's hand. Alex looked over at Maggie with a shrug.
"How are you doing, Little Luthor?" Maggie asked walking over to Lena and resting a reassuring hand on her shoulder.
"I'm okay" Lena said still not looking up. "I'm just tired."
"Well here are some meds for when she wakes up. Try to get her to drink as much liquid as possible" Alex said, putting some medicine bottles on the night side table. "We'll let you guys rest, but make sure you call us if you need more" Alex added as she began walking towards the bedroom door.
"Um…thanks for coming over and dropping off that stuff" Lena said, not looking away from Kara.
Alex and Maggie gave each other a look and then looked back at the tired Lena who cradled Kara's hand in her own. "Well, I don't know about you ladies, but I could handle some popcorn right now. Anyone up for a movie?" smiled Maggie as she looked down at Lena.
"Oh um…" Lena began finally looking up.
"Hey, don't worry Lena, she is going to be totally fine" smiled Alex. "Come out and relax with us. Let Kara get some rest."
Lena looked over at Kara asleep in the bed. Her breathing had become deep, and she seemed so peaceful.
"Come on Luthor, don't make us carry you out" laughed Maggie.
"Okay, okay. I'm coming" Lena chuckled as she stood up from the bed. Before turning to leave the bedroom, she leant down and gave Kara a kiss on her forehead. "Feel better soon, babe" she whispered before turning to lead the way.
Maggie, Alex and Lena had settled on the couch, sharing popcorn between them. Lena was squished between Maggie and Alex. They were laughing like crazy at the movie, but Lena was also laughing at the interaction between Maggie and Alex. They were arguing about the smallest details in the movie like they were an old married couple. They were already on their second movie when a tired, disheveled Kara came walking out of the bedroom.
"Hey, babe, what are you doing up?" Lena asked jumping up and running over to Kara. She wrapped her arm around her waist just as Kara's legs were about to give out.
"I heard noises" muffled Kara, rubbing her hand over her eyes.
"I'm sorry, we'll turn it down" Alex said looking at her watch, it was almost eleven o'clock. "Want some help getting her back to bed?" she asked looking at Lena.
"No, I think I'll be okay" Lena smiled and gingerly helped Kara back to the bedroom.
In the bedroom, Lena guided Kara back to the bed and sat her on the edge of it. She walked over and grabbed a bottle of water and some aspirin. "Here, take these before you lay down" Lena said handing the contents to Kara. Kara took the pills and laid back down in bed. Lena brought the covers up around her again.
"Any chance you will stay with me?" Kara asked with closed eyes.
"I'm not going anywhere darling" Lena said, giving Kara soft kiss on her forehead.
"Forever?" Kara mumbled, before beginning to snore again.
"Forever and ever" Lena smiled as she stood up and walked back out to the living room.
"So how is our little patient?" Maggie ask as Lena came back into the room. Alex had gone into the kitchen to refill their drinks.
"She's pretty out of it. I gave her some meds and she fell right back to sleep" Lena said flopping back down on the couch. "Dating a superhero is incredibly draining" Lena said with a sigh.
"It's not dating a superhero, it's dating a Danvers" smiled Maggie. "Not having any regrets are you?"
"Not at all" Lena smiled.
Maggie wrapped her arm around Lena's shoulders. "Good to hear" she smiled, pulling Lena into a hug.
