Another month passes and for Kurt everything is just more diffucult. He just wants to hold Blaine at night or be held by him. He hates going to empty home and laying in cold bed. They talk with each other every day, but it's not enough.
Kurt starts spending a lot of time with other actors and actresses. They are nice and interesting people and they keep him from falling he often goes with Gabriel to movie or just for a walk.
He feels gulity that he can't be with Blaine now, when his boyfriend needs him. And Blaine is not the only one person that he misses. There is also Rachel and Rosalie. Kurt is almost sure that without him Rachel is lost when it comes to clothes . As soon as he left she probably came back to her horrible sweaters with animals (she thinks that Kurt doesn't know about her secret box under her bed). That's why he is going to buy and send her a few nice things to wear.
And the weather is not cheering him up at this moment. It's february and it's still very cold. It's rainy, really rainy. There is no snow, but almost every day he has to take umbrella to save his perfectly stylized hair from water. So right no it's very depressing in Paris.
It's Sunday, so he just decides to stay in his apartment and watch some movies while eating ice cream, but when he hears doorbell and opens door to find smiling Gabriel standing outside, he's somewhat relieved.
''Hi, Gabriel. Come in!" he says cheerfuly.
''If you have something important to do, I can go. I just throught that you can be lonely" he says and doesn't make any move to go inside. "So, do you need someone to keep you company on this rainy and depressing day?''
"Every day is rainy and depressing here" Kurt says rolling his eyes. "And it's depressing not only because of weather. So if you want to watch some sad movies or something like that you're welcome to stay with me"
Gabriel laughs shortly and shakes his head and then they go together to living room and sit on the couch. Kurt wraps blue blanket around himself and turns to television. "I'm sorry, but I don't have another one"
"That's okay" Gabriel says trying not to burst out laughing. It's funny that Kurt is a few years older than him, and they still can be so good friends. As yet he doesn't want this year with Kurt to end.
''What's so funny?"
Yeah, he did laugh after all. ''You. You seem to be much younger that you truly are''
''Are you trying to tell me that I am old?" Kurt asks.
"No! I think I shouldn't have said it like that" Gabriel is trying to avoid Kurt's gaze as long as he can, but when they finally lock their eyes they are silent for a few moments, but then they start laughing loudly until they're red and their stomachs are aching.
''How much do you miss your country?" Gabriel asks when they are finally calm. And Kurt realizes that he hasn't said anything about Blaine yet. In fact Gabriel doesn't even know that Kurt is gay. He was just afraid to tell him (and still is). But true friends have to be honest with each other, right? Hiding it wasn't so hard. Kurt's co-workes know about it (Arcadius told them about it), but Gabriel is not there with Kurt, so he probably doesn't know.
''You have no idea" Kurt says truthfully.
"Is there someone special waiting for you?" Gabriel asks raising his eyebrow.
"Yeah, there is a lot of people. My friends and family" Kurt takes a deep breath. Now or never. ''And also two most important persons in my life. My boyfriend Blaine, and his daughter Rosalie"
Kurt closes his eyes and focuses on breathing. In and out. He is not ready for losing friend. Not now, when he is so lonely. In and out.
"Are you okay, Kurt?" he hears Gabriel's voice. ''You're breathing...funny"
''Yeah, I'm fine" Kurt says and opens eyes. He sees Gabriel with worried expression on his face. His muscels relaxes and he sighs in relief. Gabriel seems to be okay with his confession.
''Tell me something about them. I mean your boyfriend and his daughter" Gabriel says with big grin on his face.
''Well, our history is a little complicated" Kurt smiles at the throught of their shared good memories. "I have known him since high school"
"Your sweetheart from high school, huh?"
"It sounds maybe a little silly, but it's not'' Kurt says softly.
''Well, I love romances, so tell me about it. From the very beginning''
So Kurt tells everything to Gabriel about his relationship with Blaine. Younger boy is listening carefully the whole story nodding from time to time. When Kurt finishes he is able to say only: ''Wow"
Kurt nods his head and smiles brightly at his friend. "Yeah''
''It's such a sweet story. About two soulmates finding each other again" Gabriel says dreamily.
"I know. And you? Do you have a girlfriend?" Kurt asks curiously. He notices that Gabriel is blushing. He is such a child sometimes.
''No, I'm a single'' Gabriel says obviously ashamed.
''You're young, you have time''
''I know, but I want to have someone special in my life'' he says quietly.
''Everyone does'' Kurt says squeezing boy's arm. ''But you need to be patient''
After a few seconds of silence they turn to screen and start watching The Vow, and Kurt immediately thinks about Blaine. About that date a few months ago when they were still together without such a long distance beetwen them.
Gabriel finds much more interesting than movie young man sitting next to him. Kurt is such a mystery for him. He has been in Paris over a month already, and Gabriel is still learning so many things about his new friend. Sometimes Kurt's so kind and helpful, but he can show that he isn't someone who can be easily broken. He is mentally very strong, and he has walls separating him from outside world. It's very hard to make Kurt let someone in.
But Gabriel slowly is forcing his way through these walls. He can almost see Kurt's real face. He seems to be lost in this city without his loved ones. Gabriel has to make sure that Kurt knows he can rely on him. Maybe Kurt is older, but age doesn't make someone automattically stronger. Kurt is definitely very strong, but he still needs someone to be always ready to stick up for him. If Blaine is in New York, then Gabriel has to take his place. He can be exactly what Kurt needs.
Gabriel is not sure about himself. His sexuality. He's twenty and he's still searching for something or someone, but he doesn't know what it is. Maybe it is Kurt, but he can't get his hopes up, because Kurt has already Blaine. Gabriel has always been alone. His father is very rich and other kids in high school were lookng at him oddly, beacuse he was this rich, snobby boy. And now he can try yo find his place in the world.
"Kurt?"
Kurt suddenly is pull out of his daydreaming, when he hears Gabriel's voice. ''Yeah?"
''You are one of my only friends''
Kurt is suprised to hear something like that from Gabriel. He is such a charming boy. ''That's horrible, you're so nice and funny"
''But I have rich daddy, who can give me anything. People don't like when someone has more money than they have. They are jealous'' Gabriel says sadly.
''I think, I understand'' Kurt says nodding slowly his head. "Gay kid has no easy life either. Throwing into lockers every day is not funny. At least I had a few good friends, and Blaine later on''
Gabriel smiles softy and leans his head against back rest. He closes his eyes and after two minutes witout any motion, Kurt decides to make himself something to eat leaving his sleeping friend on the couch. He turns off television and heads for kitchen. After making a sandwitch with chicken for himself, he decides to make one for Gabriel as well.
Kurt is about to go back to living room with task of sandwitches and two glasses of orange juice, when his cell starts ringing loudly. He pulls answer button as quickly as he can, hoping that Gabriel is a heavy sleeper and hears Rachel's voice.
She is talking about everything and anything. Kurt can't believe how much he misses her rambling. After a few minutes of conversacion, Rachel says goodbay and hangs up.
Grabing task of food, Kurt finally goes back to living room expecting to see Gabriel sitting on the couch, but boy is nowhere to be seen. Kurt puts the task on the coffee table and yells ''Gabriel? Where are you?''
''In your bedroon" in his bedroom? But what for?
When he enters room where Gabriel is supposed to be, Kurt sees him holding a picture of his unborn baby. Kurt didn't tell him about it.
''And this is the youngest family memeber'' Kurt says trying to sound nonchalantly, but deep inside he just hopes that Gabriel can accept him, and his boyfriend.
''So you're using surrogate, right?" Gabriel says smiling softly.
''No, Blaine has that gene, and he can get pregnant. We are expecting our biologicall child'' Kurt says slowly with face devoid of emotions.
Gabriel of course knows about this gene. Just like everyone else. People are screaming about it from every single place in the world. Some of them are incredibly happy, but other just wants to exterminate it. Gabriel doesn't know what to do with this revelation, so he just decides to think about it without Kurt. He is just comfused.
He doesn't know anything anymore. And this worried expression on Kurt's face doesn't help at all. He doesn't want to hurt Kurt anyhow, but if he really likes Kurt, then he is determinated to fight for his happiness. Gabriel deserves it all.
Everything is happening so quickly. Gabriel leaves Kurt's apartment as fast as possible, and Kurt is just confused. What's wrong with this boy?
If he is so accepting when it comes to gays, why he is suddenly freaking out when he hears about man who can get pregnant?
Kurt heads for living room and sits on the couch hoping that this is not the beginning of the end of his friendship with Gabriel.
