I don't see the point of what these men are arguing about. Alarms do not go off every hundred eight minutes for no reason.
But of course Jack must turn it into a power struggle, and Locke must make it a question of faith. Faith in what, I wonder? How can you have faith without something to have faith in? Locke wants to believe everything will "work out" but melts down when it doesn't. Jack is too desperately afraid to believe it will.
But that is not the point. I have fixed the computer, and the alarm is going off.
