Chapter 25: Prom!

Eleanor's POV

"All right girls, go upstairs and get ready. You have about an hour before your dates arrives!" Constance said.

Ginger and I were chuckling after my mother and Zelena spoiled us with a spa day before prom. Once done with school, Constance picked us girls up yesterday for a salon treatment. All the facials, body massage, manicure and pedicure, and all that jazz. It was a wonderful gift for the first time in ages. As Zelena, Constance, Ginger, and I enjoyed the spoils.

When we got home there was a box on the door step addressed to Ginger. At first Ginger thought it was a gift from her mom, since Betsy couldn't make it. Once she open the wrapped packaged, she gawked to find the expensive green gown from the shopping trip last month. She read a note inside to discover the gown was a gift from Edward. Ginger was going to refuse since it's originally an expensive gown. But Edward having Alice visions assistance, he skipped school today to avoid the gingers wrath. Not having a choice, Ginger accepted the gift and made sure the hair and makeup collaborates with the look.

So after school, my mother took us to the salon again for hair and makeup. It was a battle for the stylist to style my hair. I don't know why, but I was just born with very fine hair. Even with the help of magic, my hair would go flat within mere hours. But the stylist worked hard, putting a lot of products to give my dark brown hair volume and mild curls. Ginger who sat next to me dealt with her battle of keeping the color from fading. It took a while for her red hair to not run before the other stylist formed the color hair into a half up-do.

Once hair was out of the way, it was time for makeup. Being a caster, I went for a darker look. Though showing the makeup artist my dress, the woman suggested I look like a James Bond female girl. Or from her description dark and sexy, that of smoky eyes and dark red lips. Ginger showed the makeup artist her dress, and seeing the hairstyle decided something simple. As her tan fair skin even out, follow by a shimmery silver pink lip and bronze eye shadow.

We laughed in how we look like the Bond girls, I being the villain and she looking like the sidekick. After all the fun and makeup we return home to get dress. I got to my room changing carefully into my gown. The gown is a dark emerald green velvet shimmering gown with beaded cap sleeves. The cap sleeves laced with twinkling beads. An ornately embellished belt accentuates the waist; while the skirt had a high side slit accommodating the sharply plunging neckline. Before putting the gown on, I put on a nude U-plunge backless pushup bra and silk knickers. Then the dress, follow by black heals, and then diamond drop earrings.

I stood in front of the mirror taking a better look of myself. I could see I was cross between both worlds. Something that was suitable for Caster society, but not as dramatic for the human world. I hope Tyler won't be creep out. Sure we are going to prom as friends, but his parents kind of forced him to take me after hitting me with his truck.

Suddenly the door opens as my mother came in with grin. She walked over making small corrections, "You look lovely."

"Thank you," I said.

She then place a hand on my shoulder, "Enjoy this moment, tonight is special, and…"

"And…" I repeated.

"Your father said no funny business." Constance inquired wiggling her eyebrows.

"Mom!" I whined. "Tyler and I are just friends."

"I know," Constance said. "Your grandmother Evangeline said your love shall start out skinny then blossom."

Grandmother Evangeline Glendower from my mother side is a seer. She had the ability see into the future and the other side. That is her main power follow by the basic. During my second coming of age, she had a vision of my future from the ancestors saying my future spouse will be unique, one that defies the laws of magic and resigns in an older spiritual power. I was confused asking her what else is there, only to get a response that my love shall start off skinny. And its clear Tyler is not him.

Hearing a car pull up I grabbed my clutch as Constance and I headed down stairs. Ginger came out as we both did group pictures since it's predicted she'll be spending enough time with Edward.

"I'll see you at prom." Ginger said.

"Okay," I said going down stairs but stop. "And Ginger, you look beautiful."

Ginger stood there smiling with a nod. Once down stairs, Tyler stood at the porch wearing a black suit and dark green silk tie. I couldn't help but smile. This was actually happen? I was going to prom as a normal teenager. Not the dubbed freak or pariah, but a normal girl. When I took the final step, he held a corsage in hand.

"Hey Tyler," I greeted.

"Wow, El, you look great." Tyler said dumbed struck.

"And you look quite dashing," I replied.

Tyler nodded before stumbling a little as he asked for my hand. I chuckled as he put on the corsage he bought. Made out of five pure white roses against silver and black chiffon ribbons, and silver beads. It was beautiful gift, as I grabbed the boutonniere made of a single white rose while the stem cover in silver ribbon. Suddenly there was a flash; I blinked to find Zelena holding a camera smiling deviantly.

"Come now, a few pictures." She assured.

"I would like a copy," Constance said.

"Let's get this over with," I sighed.

So Tyler and I took a few quick before prom pictures. My mother wanted more except Tyler said the others in the limo are waiting. Thanking god, we said our goodbyes before joining the others in the limo. I smiled seeing Mike, Jessica, Eric, and Angela ready for a good time.

Ginger's POV

I stood by the window watching Eleanor getting in the limo with Tyler. I smiled, happy for her since all that has happen. In fact, she lovely in her own way. I know I'm indebted to her in how she gave a part of her soul to save me from the brick of death. About five minutes later did Edwards Volvo appear. I couldn't stop grinning, as I check myself in the mirror.

I look hot. The dress was a big surprise thanks to Edward. I bought a simple gown ordering it online, but surprisingly Edward bought me the gown from the boutique. The gown an olive green strapless gown with a sweetheart bodice decorated flashing embellishments and an illusion waist. As floral appliques shine off of the length and disperse down the mermaid skirt on top of a sheer overlay. It complement really well with my skin tone and red hair. I came out to see what the others think. Follow by green heels, chandelier rhinestone earing and bracelet to cover the scar, and lets not the sexy underwear underneath.

All right, I know, Edwards too old school to think about sex. But come on, us ladies wear them to feel confident and personal sexy appeal. Also it's too soon to start home run. We just got on first base, so patience is a virtue. Quickly fixing my hair, I grabbed my purse and shawl before coming down.

As if on cue, Edward stood at the bottom of the steps with Zelena. He looked handsome as always. Wearing a suit almost as James Bond would in a tuxedo. His golden eyes shimmering with wonder and awe. I blushed putting the shawl awe.

"Hi," I said. "What do ya think?"

"You're perfect." Edward replied.

I chuckled unable to resist. Oh shit, never have I felt this fluster before. This guy is going to be the death of me from his compliments alone. Anymore and I might be on cloud nine.

"I'll take care of her, Madame Zelena." Edward assured the witch who leaned against the stairs.

"I've heard that before." Zelena said sarcastically.

Edward nodded as he open the door for us. Although Constance stopped us for a couple of pictures. Something to send to my mother since she was unable to be here. We did so, then started heading out. Zelena took my hand as she handed me my purse that I almost forgot.

"I put the pendant in your bag," she inquired.

"Zelena," I protested.

"And, well, you look lovely." She added.

"Thanks," I chuckled. "See ya later."

As I exited the cabin, Edward wrapped his arm around me leading the way to the Volvo. He opens the door to the passenger seat being a gentleman that he is. Before he closed the door, Zelena had one more thing to add.

"I want her back by midnight!"

Edward chuckled as he faced Zelena from where he's at. "I assure you, she'll be back on time."

I laughed knowing this night was going to be fun.

Prom. One of the best moments in any teenager's life. It is one of few occasion where you can dress and dance the night away. I am glad Edward asked me to prom. Sure I would still have gone without a date, representing the single lady community. But, where's the fun in that. Especially when it comes to the slow dance, and by chance does a guy who doesn't have a date has the balls to ask. So walking along the red carpet to enter the inn where prom was at is exciting.

I cling to Edwards arm as we approached the entrance stand that read CASINO MONTE-CARLO, where a photographer knelt taking each couples pictures.

"Smile," Edward murmured.

"That's easier said than done for you." I countered.

We posed as suitably for the picture waiting for the photographer to take the shot. Once that is out of the way, we continued onward in the inn where all the energy blared. Inside the inns grand hall was decorated as a casino; center of the dance floor where most of the students dance away to Perry Farrell, Go All The Way [Into the Twilight]. A disco ball spinning center of the ceiling while lights of Technicolor sway around in the room. Around the dance floor were Casino games from roulette, black jack, and let's not forget pokers.

Who doesn't love poker? I thought.

"Wow, I've never seen anyone so active before." I stated.

"The prom is an important rite of passage." Edward said. "I didn't want you to miss it."

"And I'm glad I said yes." I said.

Alice, Jasper, Emmett, and Rosalie danced on the dance floor contrasting against everyone in the room. Look gorgeous as ever like stars in a movie. Edward continues to lead around the room as we checked out on my friends. Mike and Jessica were at another photo booth where they were posing next to the giant dice and cards. They fooled around in stereotypical Bond poses. A second later they spotted me, waving hi. I waved back till seeing Jessica in her cleavage pink dress. I couldn't help but gestured my hand over my chest then giving her the thumbs up with a wink. Jessica chuckled as she mouthed, "I know."

Edward laughed as we continue to walk bumping into Tyler and Eleanor. They seemed to be having a good time. Laughing and dancing at the same time. It's good to see Eleanor look so happy than ever before. It's rare to see that kind of carefree smile. Soon we reached the DJ booth where Angela and Eric work, maintaining the music. Angela looked lovely in her new dress that was white. I thought she bought the lavender gown. I could only assume her minister father disapproved and went for a modest dress. Both way she look pretty and Eric absolutely energetic.

It wasn't long when a slow song played. One of my favorites, Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron and Wine.

"Shall we," Edward gestured.

"So you know, I'm not good with slow dancing." I said.

"Don't worry, I can." He said, gently pulling me closer to him. His cold hand held my right hand fingers entwine while his other rested on my waist. We dance to the melody of the music as the world around us vanished. Although there was once accident of stepping on his toe, but it seems he wasn't bothered by it. I chuckled slightly, lost in this moment.

When the song ends, the atmosphere changed from Edward posture. Almost tensed when James was here. I place a hand on his chest.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Hey, Ging." Said the source of Edwards's discomfort. "I was hoping you would be here."

I've turned around to see Jacob standing there looking well groomed. His hair tied back in a low ponytail while wearing a white dress shirt, black slacks, and a tie. I had to choke on my gawk to see him grown a few more inches. Wasn't he like, three inches shorter the last time I've saw him.

"Hi, Jacob." I said still bemused. "What's up?"

"Can I cut in?" Jacob asked.

Edward seemed ready to reject the off, only to nod muttering he would get us some punch. I appreciate his generosity, let alone not get to jealous of this. Since I caught a few glimpses of Jacob staring at Eleanor. Anyway, she started to another slow song.

"Are you crashing the prom or something?" I asked. "Do you have a date?"

Jacob sighed, "Can you believe my dad paid me twenty bucks to come to your prom?"

"I find it hard to believe." I chuckled. "Hope you're having fun. Seen anyone you like?"

"Yeah," Jacob breathed, turning his head. I followed his gaze to find Eleanor at a Black Jack table with Tyler. "But's she's taken." Then he looked back at me. "You look pretty, by the way."

"Thanks." I chuckled nervously, feeling flush within my cheeks. "So let's hear what Billy paid you for?"

"He's said it was 'safe' place to talk to you. I swear the old man is losing his mind." He muttered. "Don't get mad, okay?"

"I promise I won't shoot the messenger." I promised.

"Well—this is so stupid, I'm sorry Ginger." He apologized. "He . . . wants you to break up with your boyfriend."

I felt a pang of anger stirred within me. Yet I took a deep breath letting Jacob continue. As I promised I won't shoot…or in this care hex the messenger. Jacob seemed relieve that I didn't snapped at him as he continued.

"He said to tell you, no, to warn you, that . . . 'We'll be watching'." As he added the air quotation. "And that is his plural, not mine."

I laughed unable to resist from Jacobs animation of Billy's warning. "Okay. Well, tell him, 'Thanks.' And to pay up."

The song then end which Jacob hesitated, "Do you want to dance again? "

"That's all right, Jacob. I'll take it from here." Edward announced joining the group.

Jacob nodded stepping back. He seemed so out of place since his dad literally forced him to come here to give me a warning. I quickly looked around for any available girls who can distract him till spotting Eleanor. She was sitting in a corner drinking a cup of punch. Strange, she was having fun with Tyler a moment ago. That is until I spotted him dancing with Lauren who seemed to be clinging onto him. Awe man, and Eleanor was having such a good time.

"Hey Jake, now's the perfect opportunity," I said gesturing my head towards Eleanor.

Jacob spotted this and smiled, "Sure Sure. I guess I'll see you around, Ginger."

"Yeah, see ya later." I said waving him off.

Edward and I watched Jacob walked over Eleanor. The moment he stood in front of her giving a greeting. Her eyes widen in surprise as they started a conversation. I chuckled at this, before gesturing Edward we go outside for some fresh air. He nodded following to the gazebo, decorated in lights.

"Sorry about that," I apologized. "Billy's just worried about me for Zelena."

"I'm not mad at Billy. But his son is irritating me." Edward said.

"Why?" I asked.

"He called you pretty. That's practically an insult, the way you look right now. You're much more that beautiful." Edward answered.

I chuckled unable to resist the blush dusting over my cheeks.

We got inside the gazebo dancing with a few other couples. Dancing to Boats & Birds by Gregory and the Hawks. It wasn't long before the other couples left to go inside from the slight chill. As we danced I noticed the sky becoming dusk once more.

"Twilight, again." I've noticed.

"Another ending. No matter how perfect the day is, it always has an end." Edward noted.

"But it shall be reborn in the morning." I replied.

Edward sighed, "I brought you to the prom because I don't want you to miss anything. I don't want you me presence to take anything away from you. I want you to be human. I want your life to continue as it would have."

"Edward, I'm a witch." I said to him, realizing what he was revering too. "I can live for a couple of centuries if I use my magic properly. As much as I find your species fascinating … I'm happy as I am. Who knows if this will last or not, but I'm one of those who goes through the motions. Maybe there will be a time when we make the decision if I become a vampire or not. But right now and probably for a long time, I'm going to be the punk, crazy, wild witch who is seeking who she is and what her future bestow. And I want to spend those moments with you."

Those words struck Edward to the core that his eyes widen then soften. A crooked smile spread those fine lips, bringing us closer. Then chuckled for no reason.

"I am serious." I whined.

"I know." Edward murmured. "And I appreciate that you understand."

"Good," I said. "Because forever holds different meanings."

"Forever?" He said, combing his fingers through my hair. His thumb pressed along the jaw line gingerly. "When the times come."

Suddenly he slowly lowers us in a tangle pose his lips near my neck. My eyes widen and heart beating fast wondering if he changed his mind and turn me into a vampire. Before I could react or protest to what is to come. Instead he kissed my neck in a simple peck.

"Is it enough, just to have a long and happy life with me?" he asked.

I corrected myself so we were both standing. My hands resting on his chest looking deep into those golden eyes. "Yeah."

"You are wicked Georgia Ives." He chuckled.

"Tell me something I don't know." I chuckled back, placing a quick peck on his lips.

Little did I know a chain of events would be happening in the upcoming future? About five things I was absolutely positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him, and I didn't know how dominant that part might be, that thirsted for my blood. Except I knew he had control over it. Third, I was crossing the taboo lone that the Caster society created. Fourth, the future is undeceived in what is to come. And fifth, I was unconditionally in love with him.
