It was everything that Kate could ask for. They sat across from each other; their legs entwined which one another's, and ate their pasta. They were so cute that Rick even ordered the same dish as Kate so she wouldn't get food envy. Food envy was the worst and Kate always got it whenever she went out for dinner with anyone. But tonight Kate realised that Rick was literally the man of her dreams. When they arrived and sat down Kate realised that she hadn't shaved her legs before when she had showered. Rick being the perfect gentleman that he is just brushed it off and said that he didn't mind. She had actually made a list when she was a teenager about what was her perfect man. So far she could cross out rich, hot, loving, has nice hair, doesn't care if her legs aren't shaved, and has a sense of fashion. Unfortunately though Rick wasn't quite the doppelganger of George Clooney. Maybe as he got a little older he might reach that stage. All of Kate's friends had sworn a pledge that the day a man crosses off everything on that list they had to marry him. Well she could always erase the George Clooney bit right? She already knew that Rick would be her husband, her one and done, it was just the matter of determining when that pledge of eternity occurred between the two of them.

They enjoyed their main meal and even indulged in an exquisite chocolate pudding that was way too fattening for Kate's liking. She wrote a mental note to run it off tomorrow. They discussed Kate's new schooling and a new book that was soon to be coming out. His new book would mean a big tour in the next six months or so which meant that Kate and Rick had to be separated once again. This was definitely not one of the perks of dating a best-selling author. But they both knew that this relationship would be hard. Police officers hours weren't all too well for starting a new relationship and as good as writers hours were, book tours were hell. They knew though that they have to push onwards and just hold on until the fog clears.
