Wade wasn't mad at Zoe. He could see where she was coming from. He didn't wanna put added pressure on her. Let everything progress naturally from here on out. It wasn't even about sleeping with her. He loved to cuddle with her. It was the little things with Zoe he loved the most. The connection they had built since they were kids. He was mad at himself for getting so upset when Zoe told him to stop. He was mad at himself for taking it too far. Zoe was beautiful and he wanted to ravish her, but he wasn't gonna cross a line to do that. He wasn't going to push her. He could wait, he really could. But the one thing he couldn't do was go back there and face her. He kicked a rock sighing as it bounced along the sidewalk. He ended up at the Rammer Jammer he sat in the back corner drinking his coke as some Johnny Cash played on the radio. He wanted to stay hidden not wanting to deal with anyone. Not even Tucker when he came in with his brother. Wade sighed trying to figure out what he was gonna say to Zoe. His sweet Zoe.
Zoe got tired of fighting back her tears so she let them fall freely down her face. She didn't expect Wade to get mad and storm off. She wasn't very sure she could be with Wade if he was gonna react like that. She loved him and she couldn't imagine her life without him. But she wouldn't be some naïve girl letting Wade do as he pleased. Zoe wiped her eyes, it wasn't dark out yet but all Zoe wanted to do was curl up in bed and forget that today ever happened. Forget that Wade got mad at her for saying no. She thought more of Wade. But after his blow up she was starting to think that she really didn't know him. That was a strange thought to even think about. Ever since they became inseparable all those years back everything was always out there. He was suppose to be her best friend, not turn into some jerk when she told him no. When she stood her ground, he wasn't suppose to get mad and storm off leaving her alone feeling as if she did something wrong. The warm tears didn't stay gone long before they raced down her face to soak her pillow.
By morning Zoe's eyes were red and puffy. She wasn't gonna go crawling back to Wade, no Wade would have to come to her this time. She did nothing wrong. She took a longer shower then she normally would. When she walked downstairs she wasn't very happy to see Wade sitting on a stool at the counter. Wade a few years ago where Harley kept the spare key just in case. Zoe got a cup of orange juice and sat at the table. Wade was slow to join her. Silence filled the air. Both of them didn't know what to say. They both tried to talk at the same time but that didn't go over so well.
"Why did you get you so mad Wade?" Zoe asked taking the chance to talk now that Wade went back to being quiet. "You never have before. So why now?"
"I wasn't mad at you Zoe. I really wasn't. I'm sorry for making you think that. I was mad at myself for trying to push you over your limit." Zoe wasn't sure what to say so instead she moved closer placing her hand on top of his.
"I was hurt Wade. I thought you were mad at me. After the way you acted last night I was ready to break up with you." Zoe spoke softly and slowly.
"You really wouldn't would you? I know I was being a jerk and all but it wasn't because you stopped me Zoe. I was mad at me." Wade jumped in. He didn't want Zoe to break up with him over this.
"Relax Wade. I'm not gonna break up with. Not now, you explained to me why you left and that you were mad at yourself instead. I wish you would've stayed last night so we could talk about things. I don't exactly enjoy crying my eyes out all night." That was a relief to Wade and he was able to breathe again.
"I did come back last night. About an hour after I stormed out. I wanted to talk to you but you were sleeping and I didn't wanna wake you so I slept on the couch." Wade explained. Zoe looked behind her to see that Wade had even folded his blankets. "I'm sorry Zoe."
"It's ok." Zoe smiled weakly. "Let's watch a movie." Wade nodded standing sharing a kiss with Zoe before walking into the living room where they curled up under a blanket and watched G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Zoe smiled her head resting against Wade's chest happy that they weren't fighting. She felt silly for jumping to conclusions but she didn't know what to think. She didn't know what went on his head but she didn't need to either. Because he always came back to her and told her, she felt bad for doubting him. Wade was happy as well now that the whole mess was cleared up.
"Wanna get a burger?" Wade asked once the movie ended. Zoe nodded explaining she needed to go upstairs and get changed. She wasn't stepping outside in just her pj's. "But Z it would be so cute. Your face would be a bright pink color." Wade exclaimed laughing. Wade smacked him only to find herself in his lap.
"You're not funny." Zoe pouted moving away him when he tried to kiss her. Zoe rolled her eyes kissing him when he pouted looking to freaking adorable.
"Wade you're paying too." Zoe chimed in after they had finally made their way to the Rammer Jammer.
"Ok Zoe." Wade replied opening the door. They sat in the middle of the Rammer Jammer. Before they could get into any conversation George showed up followed by Lemon and AB. "I'm trying to have a nice afternoon with my girlfriend but guys go ahead and join us." Wade told them annoyed and with a sarcastic tone to his voice. They brushed him off pulling chairs up.
"Wade be nice." Zoe shot Wade a look. "AB you ever gonna tell us what's going with you and Jess?" Zoe asked looking at her friend.
"I..I..I don't know what you are talking about." AB stated firmly after a rocky start.
"I know for a fact that's a lie." Zoe stated. "I saw you guys kissing in your room over a month ago."
"I saw you guys under the gazbo last weekend." Lemon stated.
"I heard Jess saying your name on the phone most the summer when I couldn't sleep." Wade pipped in. "George have you caught them?"
"At the movies actually." George coughed. Gaining a look from Lemon. "I was forced to go with my brother during the summer since he's in college and everything. I had no choice in the matter." George defended. Lemon nodded.
"Time to come clean AB." Zoe told her. AB looked around sighing.
"We have been together since the beginning of summer. Anything before that was just us figuring things out." AB told them suddenly feeling better about it. It wasn't if she was ashamed, she just wasn't sure why she hadn't told her friends. She meant to but the longer she went without saying it the harder it got to tell them.
