Finale

"Three feet, two inches!" Felix chuckled as he measured Gene on the wall chart "Just like always Mr. Mayor!"

Gene smiled proudly as he adjusted his tie, "Thank you young man! I wouldn't have it any other way!"

The mayor felt a sharp PINCH on his cheek, turning to see his beloved Mary giving him a teasing grin.

"Let's make sure we keep it this way, hmmm Genie?"

"Why of course!" the mayor chuckled coyly "I mean, what's so GREAT about being unnecessarily tall anyway? You always hit your head on things, you can get stuck in places!"

Gene turned towards Mary, noticing the rather peeved look she was giving him but he knew better to fall for that ploy. She was just as humored as he was at the moment. Approaching his fiancé, the man planted a kiss on her rosy cheek.

"Plus, I missed doing this again….." the mayor said in a sultry voice, placing his hands on his love's hips, drawing her closer to him.

"OOoooOOooooOOOH!" cooed a voice from the doorway. Both Nicelanders turned to see Vanellope all a giggles as Ralph stood over her, the wrecker trying his best to keep from laughing "Ladies n' gentlemen, it's time for DAYS OF OUR NICELANDER! Smooch, smooch!"

Gene pouted playfully at the two, his mood mellowing once he saw that Mary was laughing as well. He couldn't force himself to be angry at the moment, even if he wanted to.

"Har, har young lady…" Gene grumped, crossing his arms "Don't you think you're a bit YOUNG to watch adults kiss like this?"

"Are ya kiddin'? I've seen Felix n' Calhoun smooch enough as it is! Stuff like this doesn't bother me anymore!" the girl smiled "An' besides! I KNOW this is what you're gonna be doin' for your weeeeeeeddin'!"

Gene blushed bright as a rose at the girl's words but he once more attempted to remain posh, even though it now felt like a flock of butterflies were flittering about in his stomach. Clearing his throat, Gene placed a finger on the girl's forehead, making her go cross-eyed.

"RIGHT. Speaking of WHICH, we still need to go through our plans, young lady." the mayor said with a devilish grin "After all, as flower girl I am expecting you to be on your best behavior AND wear the APPROPRIATE dress for the occasion!"

Vanellope paled; she knew EXACTLY what dress Gene was talking about!

"W-wait, a second! I thought we said I didn't have to wear that thing!" the girl trembled, backing away towards the door.

"You don't!" Gene chuckled as he walked over to the coffee table and pulled a picture out from his planner, showing forth an even more ghastly dress than the one Vanellope had originally been programed with!

"Nel and I made a few ALTERATIONS on this, and I think it's just perfect! Why don't we take you to Nel's so you can try it on?"

"Oh, would ya look at the time!" Vanellope blurted, hopping to her feet and turning towards the door "I think I hafta get back ta Sugar Rush! A-as president, I hafta check on…tha…really dangerous Sugar Bird eggs! Only I can do it an' it has to be done NOW! Like RIGHT NOW so…BYE!"

And without saying another word, Vanellope bolted off, Gene snickering as he held the picture in his hand.

"Hey, I saw Nel's outfit she's been makin' for the kids…." Ralph said "An' Nelly's looks NOTHIN' like that!"

"I know, Ralph. I know!" the man chuckled, crumpling up the picture and tossing it in the trash "I just figured it was the only way we could get some alone time!"

Ralph glared down at Gene but a sly grin broke through "Okay, okay. I will admit that was a fast one, Big Gene."

"Why thank you!" Gene nodded but his eyes then turned towards that of his fiancé, Mary standing aside him and rolling her eyes "Oh come on, Mary! I know you found it funny as well!"

"Really dear! Doing that to a child!" the woman said, pulling the man's chubby cheeks "No wonder you're an overgrown kid!"

"Overgrown?" the mayor chortled as he gave Mary a tickle on the cheek with his mustache "SURLY you jest dear!"

Mary pulled away but not before giving Gene's nose a playful pinch "I think we might have to take Gene back to Hero's Duty, Ralph! His ego is still HUGE!"

"And where are YOU going now?"

"To find Vanellope…" the Nicelander in pink said as she strolled down the hall "I don't want the child to think we're making her don such a horrible dress! She might actually back out of being the flower-girl!"

Gene could only chuckles as the woman boarded the elevator but once she was gone, he looked back towards the marks on the wall. Seeing them reminded the mayor just how EVERYTHING had started.

It wasn't that long ago that his own self-consciousness about his size had somehow spiriald into a series of events that put everyone he knew in danger. In a way, it was just so ironic how something so SMALL turned into something so BIG.

He placed a hand atop his head, checking the measurements once more.

Yup; three foot two as always.

"Hey…" Ralph said "Ya okay there?"

"I'm good as I could ever be, Ralph…" Gene sighed.

Ralph stooped down into the apartment, taking notice in the marks on the wall. He put his hands in his pockets, giving Gene a relaxed look.

"Ya know, at the end of the day? Those marks don't mean anything. Bein' three feet tall ain't that bad."

Gene smiled as he looked up at Ralph "I guess it' not, is it. I mean, I know there will be times when I am reminded that I am indeed a PIPSQUEAK. That is something I can't eliminate completely…"

The mayor walked over to the sink, taking a cloth and soaking it in the sink. He then returned to the wall, giving the marks one final look.

"But you know something? I have BIGGER things to think about! I can't stay worried about the small things forever!"

And with that, Gene wiped the markings off the wall.
