Ted was waiting for Ryleigh one morning six weeks later. "Good morning." He said when she walked up.
"You're here early."
"I like to get a head start." He handed her a decaf coffee.
"Thank you." She smiled as she took it.
"I wanted to talk to you about some ideas. And you becoming director of this place."
She looked at him. "What? Are you serious?"
"Aren't I always?" He smiled. "So, are you interested?"
"Of course."
"Great. Then let's talk." He smiled. "I know it would mean longer hours. But I'd get you an assistant and whatever else you needed. And when the baby is born, you could bring it with you." He looked at her. "Whatever you need, you will get." She nodded. "I'm happy for you and the way your life turned out. I wish you hadn't had to go through what you went through. But I'm proud of the way you handled it."
"Thank you."
"Adam is a lucky man."
She smiled. "Yes, he is."
Teddy laughed. "And I know he knows it."
"I'm sorry things didn't work out between us. But it worked out for the best."
He nodded. "Yes, it did."
"You seeing anyone? I know a great girl."
"Really?" He asked her. "Details because I'm not seeing anyone."
"Her name is Jessa. She works where Adam works in the family counseling center. In fact, maybe we should do a partnership with them. Not only counsel the person but the whole family as well?"
"I like it and she sounds amazing. Can you set it up?"
She nodded. "I'll make a phone call." He nodded as she dialed the number.
Adam smiled when his cell phone rang. "Hey, beautiful." He said when he picked up.
"Can you and Jessa head over here. There are a few things Ted wanted to talk to you guys about?"
"Sure. We will be over in a bit."
"They'll be over soon."
"Great. Can't wait to meet her." He replied.
She smiled. 'Same old Teddy. Always the optimist."
"Well you said she was great. So, why not be an optimist?"
She smiled at him. "I guess there is nothing wrong it with."
"Yep." He smiled. She laughed. She knew he and Adam's co-worker would be a good match.
Adam looked at Jessa. "Ryleigh wants us to come over to talk about some things." Jessa nodded. They grabbed their things and headed out.
Adam smiled as he walked in and saw Ryleigh waiting with Ted. "Alright, here we are. What's up?" Ted looked at Adam and smiled. "What am I missing?" Adam asked.
"Jessa, this is Teddy, Teddy, Jessa. And I've been promoted to director of the center and we want to start a partnership with you guys."
Adam looked at her. "Of course. We would be very interested in that."
Ryleigh smiled. "Good." She looked at Ted. "Why don't Adam and I talk about some details and you and Jessa talked about some details."
"Sure." Ted replied.
Ryleigh and Adam walked into her office. He shut the door and looked at her. "What do you have planned?"
"We could expand this place and merge the two centers. And I think there's a connection between those two."
He looked at her. "I like that idea."
She smiled. "Great. So, we are going into business together."
She smiled. "We are." He looked at her. "Did you have another idea for why Jessa and I had to come over?" He smiled. "Like hooking her up with Ted?"
"Well, they are perfect for each other."
He laughed. "Maybe they are. I guess we can only see. But you, my dear, are very sneaky." She laughed.
She smiled and kissed him. "But it's one of the things you love about me."
"Yes, it is." He smiled.
The baby moved. She laughed. "Guess the baby is jealous already."
He laughed. He placed his hand on her stomach. "Baby, mommy loves you and daddy." The baby kicked again.
She smiled. "I think baby loves daddy's voice."
He smiled. "I hope so because she is going to be a daddy's girl."
"How do you know its going to be a girl?"
"Just a hutch." He laughed. "I feel she is a girl."
She smiled. "Well, then I guess we both think it will be a girl."
"We need a name." He looked at her. "So, what should our baby girl be called?"
"Sophia."
He smiled and kissed her. "I love it." She smiled. "Have you talked to Katelyn?"
"I haven't. Is everything okay?"
"You mean you don't know? Cena cheated on her."
"What?" She asked him.
"She just found out." He replied. "She came home from taking Milly to the doctor and found him and his girlfriend in the living room going at it."
"Thats terrible."
"Yes it is. John told me and I was shocked. I asked him why he cheated on her and he said that it was the baby. He didn't want to be a father and he thought she got pregnant on purpose. And he even said he was sure he wasn't the father." He looked at her. "She's staying with her parents."
"I need to go talk to her." He nodded and they headed out. And she headed toward Katelyn's parents. When she arrived, Ryleigh knocked on the door.
"Ryleigh, come in." Katelyn's mom said to her. "Katelyn is in the sun room with Milly."
Ryleigh walked in. She headed to the sun room and saw Katelyn holding her six week old daughter. "Hey."
"Hey." Katelyn said to her. "Take a seat. I was just putting her down for her nap." Ryleigh sat down. "I guess you heard?" Ryleigh nodded. "John wants a DNA test to prove Milly is his."
"Do you think she is?"
"I never even considered that he couldn't be her father. The thought never crossed my mind." Katelyn sighed and looked at her daughter. "But now that I think about it and I look at her, I don't think he is her father."
"You think it's the guy? The one from the party?"
"Yes, I do. He's the only other possibility."
"Have you told him?"
"No. How would I even start that conversation?" She asked her. "Do I just walk up to him and say, hey remember eleven months ago at that party. We got drunk and slept together. Well guess what we have a kid together?"
"Let him see her. And then tell him."
Katelyn sighed. "Yeah. I know I have to tell him. I'm just scared about it. I mean it was a one night drunken frat party hookup. He probably thought he would never see me again and now, I get to tell him that we are the parents of a little girl."
"You want us to go with you?"
"No, I better do this myself. Me and Milly."
"Call me if you need me."
"I will." Katelyn replied. She picked up her phone after they left. She called a friend she knew who knew the guy from that night. Once she knew where he was, she got Milly ready and they headed out.
