Chapter 25 Day of Faithful Decisions
"Darn it, a day of just roaming around the city looking for a single Flame Haze is really annoying!" Dan remarked, ranting out the fact that it is already evening and neither of the persons they wanted to talk to are present.
"Had it just been easier to just wish ourselves in front of them?" Draco replied as he said those words while resting in Dan's case hanging on his belt.
"Yeah, but the wands are wish-locked whenever Britain is around. Damn it..." Dan ranted again.
Just then, he heard his stomach growling, then Dan said "When is the last time that I have eaten?"
"Your breakfast?" Draco remarked.
"What's the use of going into a restaurant if we can't wish ourselves money?"
"Well, what if, instead, you worked for it..." Draco remarked. Just then, an idea sparked in Dan's mind. He suddenly shuffled his case where Draco was, and something hard hit Draco. This caused the Bakugan to yell "DAN, WHAT S THAT HARD THING YOU ARE KEEPING?"
"The Manual of the Rules regarding the Affairs of Dealing a Godchild?" Dan replied while scanning the said book, which is a pink pocket book with the front cover bearing a crown and the name of the title in front in a centered alignement, on the regulations about food 'wishes'. Just then, Dan closed the book and said "Well, I found a loophole that actually allows you to sell food that you have wished under the condition that they are dinner food and you are not selling it to America the human country, and with the bonus of eating it..."
"I really wanted to know how much loopholes does that book even has..." Droco replied with a sarcastic, straight voice.
"Well..." he hid in a certain building corner and took out the wand, saying "I wish I have a takoyaki stand, with the ingredients that I have stored in my refrigerator in my dimension in Bayview..."
"Wait, you have..."
"Yeah, Runo gave me some a week ago... although I know that it should be used with the guys back home after this mess is gone for a celebration..."
"Remembering that time flies slower here..."
Just then, a takoyaki stand appeared, with the ingredients of making the famous Japanese octopus balls are present. This time around, Dan said "I wish I had the knowledge of making takoyaki for this night only." and a sparkle of glitters appeared around him, and his outfit changed from that of a civilian to that of a takoyaki street vendor. On that moment, Draco came out of the case and stood on the table of the stand. He saw Dan's clothes and muttered "Seriously?"
Dan began to cook several of the octopus balls rather quickly on a ball fryer, and in just minutes, two dozens of them are finish. Dan ate some of them and Dan's eyes sparkled, saying "Wow, this is the best one that I have cooked!"
"Alright..." Draco spoke in a serious tone. "Now, are you just standing there and..."
"Well, selling takoyaki is actually the most ideal way..." Dan replied "...to actually found them!"
"So you actually thought of this in advance..." Draco remarked.
"Yep... just let me cook another batch and we can now go!"
"You and your bottomless stomach..." Draco remarked with uneasiness just as he saw Dan cooking another batch, only ending up again in his stomach.
"Wow, we've been around here for the whole day!" Chugusa remarked as she is holding just a little bag of groceries.
"Well, at least we have bought everything we would need in a very good price..." Shana followed, with her holding a piece of melon bread and consuming it. Suddenly, she began to receive an unusual reaction and said "Wow, this bread sure is heaven, especially with..." just then, Shana slapped herself with her other hand and said "Darn it, why would these breads from Phantasia taste this good that I'm thinking icky things..."
"Maybe you've got lucky of picking the bread baked by one of their master bakers..." Britain remarked, with his mind actually saying "That has cost a lot of cash that my bill might not even cover, damn it. At least I got the bonus of Shana understanding her feeling for Yuji and identity before the battle even begin..."
"Well, at least I never knew that Yuji goes to the gym..." Chugusa happily noted, as Britain looks back and saw that Yuji is actually bringing 15 boxes and struggling to carry it.
"It's part of his training..." Shana said "If he ever wanted to be a good swordsman, he needed that strength..."
"Or, a much better thought, a making me a slave!" Yuji shouted back at her. Shana said "You must learn to..." but was suddenly changed when she took a bite of the bread, with her saying instead "Well, at least your becoming a gentleman to someone you like..." in a much happier tone, but then, Shana slapped herself in the face again and said "Darn it, what is wrong with this bread?"
Whilhelmina then spoke to Britain in a whisper and said "Is that bread you gave has a truth serum?"
"Actually, no... the bakers of the bakery just had the powers to induce unusual reactions..." Britain said with a smile "As long as Shana does not pick up the melon-sushi bread, or else it will be the end of Shana's secretive self..."
Just then, they smell an aroma of someone selling octopus balls, and they heard a voice yelling "Takoyaki!"
"Wow, what if we bring some of those for your dad?" Yuji's mom suggested of buying the said treat to his son.
"Good idea mom, maybe he would miss an authentic Japanese treat..."
"As promise, Arthur's treat." At that, Britain, shuddered, but has no choice but to comply.
They came to the stand labeled with the name "Star octoballs" in katakana on the sign above. They noticed that the cook there is a teenager, but it doesn't matter to them.
However, when Dan saw them, he immediately said to his mind "Perfect."
The unusual fact that there are no people near the stand makes this a very good opportunity for Dan to warn Yuji about the upcoming dangers.
He immediately thought about all the things he is about to say, just as the group approached him.
Chigusa came first, and said "How much for one?"
"100 yen/piece?"
"Alright, 40 pieces..."
Meanwhile. Shana has just finished the bread she just ate, with a lot of hand marks in her face due to her repeated slaps to herself. She finally picked up the next melon bread in her plastic bag, closed her eyes and took a bite. However, the melon bread she picked is actually the most delicious one that she has tasted in her life... and also the one which gave her the most unusual reaction of all.
Normally, when eating the famous Phantasia melon-sushi bread, people would assume a position of someone arching his or her back to the floor, forming a melon position for the first bite.
However, in Shana's case, it was different...
Shana's eyes immediately widen, and immediately clung to Yuji's hands with dreamy eyes staring to his face, both of which shocked Yuji and dropped the things he is holding to the floor. She then cuddled towards him and with hearts flying around her, and cooed "Yuji, my love, I know you are having a hard time carrying those boxes, can I help you carrying some of them?"
"Um, Shana, this is not the time, don't tell me..." He then stared at the bread she is carrying and suddenly mattered "No wonder why..."
At that, Yuji's mom stared back, took a picture of them in her phone and said "Wow, looks like my boy's all grown up!"
"Mom, this is what happens to Shana when she eats the Phantasia signature melon-sushi bread!" Yuji said with some worry, but deep inside, is saying "Well, and the times I really wanted... but not THIS much clingy, I like the other kind of Shana more..."
At that, Whilhelmina puffed a wind out, and said to Britain "So this is the thing you're talking about... no wonder why she avoids that bread as much as possible whenever I try to buy one..."
"Well, I brought her one because she missed it's taste when she is in the cell..." Britain said "Usually, she eats it during the time Yuji is not around, and all she muttered is Yuji's name the whole hour..."
"Well, at least just help me deal with this!" Yuji yelled at the two "You also know what happens to me after she snaps out of this!"
Shana took another bite and clinged much tighter, saying "Yuji, you know, I'm happy that we are like this, let's make this a forever moment, ok!"
"Well, I'll just go somewhere while waiting the octopus balls to be ready!" Yuji's mother replied "Whilhelmina, Arthur, why won't we give those two some time?"
"Well, perhaps..." Britain remarked "Whilhelmina, you can take a break guarding her and follow us!"
"Nope, I'll stay..." Whilhelmina remarked "I still have to restrain Shana just in case she kills Yuji once she snaps out of it..."
After walking some distance, Chigusa told Britain "Just as planned!"
"Yeah..." Britain replied "Let's just wait and see what happens next..."
Meanwhile, near the stand, Shana's happy, lovey-dovey aura retains, while Yuji is somewhat glad about her gesture. On the other hand, Whihelmina is worried, but she has to make sure that Britain's plan actually work...
Moments earlier...
While leading Shana and Yuji towards the baking store, Britain and Whihelmina discussed about something about the probable future.
"So, you are simply saying that the best way of actually preventing Yuji turning our backs around is for Shana to realize her feelings before the war sparks?" Whilhelmina remarked, highly doubtful on the information Britain gave regarding the certainty of a future war between the Flame Hazes and Bal Masque, and of Yuji turning his back on the Flame Hazes.
"Trust me, if it where not for the Seal I placed on Yuji, it might happen much, much more earlier than you think..." Britain replied "By actually adding Shana into his concern, it might just lessen those chances..."
"I'm doubtful about that..." Whilhelmina's contractor replied.
"Just believe us, I promise you won't regret it. Besides, I helped you once, we just need assistance for Shana to truly admit her feelings. We stole a detector from the KND that acts like a Truth Serum without injecting it and it's confirmed to work."
"Perhaps if it's for the better... I think I'll join..." Whilhelmina remarked "It's a good risk..."
"What are you guys talking about?" Yuji's mother suddenly butted in. Fearing something might have leak out, Whilhelmina is about to unleash a Fuzetsu, but Britain said "Well, we are just planning something so that those two would have some time as a couple..."
"Well, how sure are you about that?"
"Well, I'm their guardian and I know that... don't worry Mrs. Sakai, Yuji won't end up like what happened to your young marriage."
"Well, maybe if I join you, we can plan it much fun... besides, I wanted to know how they act romantically..."
"Suit yourself." Britain said with a smile. He then stares at Whihelmina and said telepathically "Now, you're doing it or not?"
"No choice..." Whilhelmina replied back in the same manner.
… thus, Whilhelmina told Yuji "Yuji, I know this is just strange, but Arthur told me that the two of you are a couple..."
"OF COURSE!" Shana squealed while hugging tighter to Yuji. She then followed "Well, there are times I may be harsh to him, but that's just my way of saying I love him..."
"Gee, Shana, how long are you going to snap out of that?" Yuji remarked.
"This is getting out of hand..." Alastor said "Shana, you have to stop consuming the bread..."
Shana just took another bite and responded to her contractor "No, Alastor, as long as this bread is here, I'll just say to Yuji how much I love him!"
"If that is so..." Alastor pause and then continued "Yuji, stop her instead."
"Um..." Yuji began to take a pause, but then Whilehelmina remarked in a cold voice "I think this is your chance Yuji, Arthur reported to me that you two are a couple during your travels, if you haven't confessed yet, confess it now..."
"Wa-wait..." Yuji said with his face red "Whilhelmina, you too?"
"Yeah, Yuji, just say to me so that it could be official..." Shana remarked with a tear-jerking eyes. However, Dan saw the events in the stand, saying to himself "No, what they are doing is making it all worse... that love thing is actually Yuji's motivation of establishing the Grand Order!"
"Then what shall we do then?"
Dan prepares to cook the second batch, while continuing "Well, something's not right... Britain may have thought that by inducing it much earlier, it might prevent it, even if Japan knows it will make it worse... however, even if Japan told him that, events will still play out the same..."
"And as instructed, we must warn Yuji in some way in regards to his father..."
"That is the problem in itself..." Draco remarked. However, Dan ignored it and shouted to the two "Perhaps the two lovers are having so much time together that they forgot that there are other things in the world."
"What?" All three of them said, looking at the takoyaki guy.
"Well, Yuji is really where my world surrounds!" Shana remarked, while Alastor remarked in soft voice "Well, this is getting out of hand too much... Shana, snap out of it, this is now under my orders!"
However, there is no response from her, which let him said "Fine... I'll just wait until you've snapped from that state."
"Just leave them..." Whilhelmina told him. Dan begins to think what he would say, but then he remembered what the Lion said instead:
"Just do what you must, and know that the Spirit is there to guide you, but first, you must Trust in me first."
"What does that Lion even meant about that? You can't just say things out in the wind by just trusting? Alright, if you are really right, then let me say the right words!"
"Well, I've seen a lot of couples that started out lovey-dovey and destroyed, while I saw friendships destroy by that love, don't you think that love is something that we thought it is, yet it isn't?"
Inside Dan's mind, he said "What in the world are the things I'm saying?"
"Well, don't judge us..." Yuji replied, with him tugging Shana a bit closer, and said "We're just young lovers, that's all."
"Well, you forgot that sometimes love misguides us, maybe you have to reevaluate what love is... I mean, is it what revolves your entire being? If that is so, you're completely forgotting a lot of things in life..."
"What are the things I'm saying? So even I don't know whether there is anything other than that to revolve around."Dan's thoughts immediately followed.
"Well, you're right..." Yuji replied "But we have to discover that one out..."
"You might be surprise what might happen to you in the future friend... because who knows, maybe you might betray the person you love because of what you think is right for her, even if she doesn't agree to it. Being selfish in love is like saying I love you but throw yourself in lava to show that you love me."
"Well, I'm not that kind of person..."
"Well, I know you are not..." Dan replied "But just be careful, friend, because even your family has a deep connection that might lead you to error..."
"How much do you know about my family?" Yuji then followed, knowing as if the teenager on the stand knows something "Are you related to the KND?"
"Wait, what?" Whilhelmina followed, noticing that the Yuji is now talking about the group that once took Yuji and Shana in captive.
"No, but I came from someone who sent me to tell you this..." Dan replied. Dan's mind began to rush, saying to himself "What on earth am I thinking?" He then continued "Be careful on who you trust, because things will change on the next year. Because this world you are living it is not a matter of just disappearing embers and permanent flames, but rather revolves around an unquenchable fireball of wrath and love..."
Just on that moment, both the stand and Dan disappeared with a tiny bit of multi-colored ember around him, and in place, a table with the octopus balls that Dan cooked is placed inside a carton box. On that moment, Yuji began to ask Whilhelmina, "What was that?"
"I don't know..." Whilehelmina replied.
"Neither am I." Tiamat soon followed.
"However, the flame color of multiple colors..." Alastor said. "Could that be..."
However, instead of minding about what happened, the Shana still under the influence of the bread reaction snagged Yuji's face and caused her lips to touch his, which shocked Yuji even mare. The short kiss was then followed with Shana cuddling him even more, with Yuji much more surprised with a blush in his face.
"Did she just..."
"Alright, Shana, snap out of your hallucination!"Alastor immediately yelled. On that moment, Shana consumed the last piece and bread, and remarked "I'll make this last piece the most enjoyous one!"
"Shana, I think you are acting way too much with that bread, just..." At that moment, Yuji was cut when Shana pulled him again in another kiss, which is longer than before. Just then, Yuji broke off, and said to her "Alright, can we make it official that we're already a couple?"
"OF COURSE!" Just then, the effects of the bread wore of, which caused Shana to return to her usual self. She noticed the way she is hugging Yuji and the way she stares a Yuji's eyes, and immediately blushed a lot. She pushed Yuji a bit strong and caused him to stumble to the floor, with her yelling "What the heck are you doing to me Yuji?!"
"Finally you snapped out of it Shana..." Alastor spoke with some tinge of gladness. "You'll just wish instead of what you did to him to never be mentioned..."
"You two acted like a couple, and even kissed." Whilhelmina told her coldly. This caused Shana to turn even redder and yell at her, saying "And you didn't try to stop me?"
"I could, but I saw that you are happy, so I didn't stop you..."
"But that's my reaction while eating... arrgh..." She then grew angry and looked at Yuji, yelling "AND YOU TOOK ADVANTAGE OF IT?"
"But Shana, you just..."
"SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP!" Shana yelled, while acting as if she is ready to punch him. She almost threw her fist and was about to hit him in the face, but then, she stopped before it connected to him. Incidentally, Yuji opened his eyes, noticing that Shana is somewhat both angry and confuse, telling her "Just do it... I could've just pushed you away..."
"I know, and I'm angry at that..." Shana then dropped her fist and said "I'll forgive you this time Yuji, but do you really mean what you said earlier?"
"Shana, I... well, yes." Yuji said with a somewhat worried face. Shana was about to contract her fist again, when Whilhelmina stepped in and said "I think you should understand this, but Arthur planned this to happen."
"WHAT?!" Both of them responded.
"Now, he's the one I'm going to..." Shana took a pause when Alastor spoke "What is he planning to do?"
"He hopes that by making the two of you a couple, it would lessen the chances of Bal Masque of getting tho Reiji Maigo..." Whilhelmina said.
"Like how is that even connecte?" Shana remarked "Alright, Yuji, once we see that blond man, we'll beat him for setting us up..."
"Um, Shana, how about we'll just play the game he sets up?" Yuji replied.
"The heck, are you..."
"I think it's a much smarter move..." Alastor followed "Then we'll ask him why he wanted it to happen..."
As it appears to be, Dan was teleported to the Fairy world, with everything intact in his set-up except that the octopus balls are already gone.
"Wait why are..." Dan was about to continue when someone spoke "You've done very well..."
"Wait, Aslan, you mean..."
"It's been a good thing you trusted me in that part..." the Lion, standing right in front of him, said with a smile bearing in his face "However, the rest is now up to Yuji..."
"Yeah... but I noticed that they are close... I mean, too close than what you told me they are supposed to be..."
"It's the melon bread Shana just ate. However, what Yuji will decide is to what he will do with his emotions now that it is blurted out..." At that moment, the Lion turned around and then continued "Dan, what you said earlier also applies to you. Remember everything, someday, you'll understand what those words even mean..."
As the Lion leaves, Dan was mystified by the words He just uttered, saying to himself "What does he even mean by that?"
Meanwhile, back on Misaki City, Britain and Chigusa returned and saw that Yuji and Shana are holding hands, but their faces are giving away, saying that they are not comfortable with the idea. Britain then asked Whilhelmina "What happened?"
"Well, as you expect..."
"Wow...looks like my son really is growing up! Just don't marry that early ok?"
"Mom, alright..." Yuji said in a fake, happy voice "But who will carry the boxes then?"
"I will..." Britain said. Whilhelmina then handled the octopus balls to Yuji's mother, who then said "I think I'll head first, just wait for me at the house!" and set out to walk first.
Before everyone followed, Shana called Britain in his human first name, saying "Can you explain to me why you want us to be a couple so badly? This isn't you, and you think we didn't saw what you are planning?"
"Well, that's out of your concern Shana..." Britain said while beginning to carry the boxes with no ease at all "After all, you should be thankful that you two are already one. Besides, you two really shows it while being with me..."
At that, Britain set forward, and Shana and Yuji immediately stopped their pretending game. Yuji then told Shana "Now that's an unexpected answer, usually Arthur would answer it in a straightforward notion."
"I know... does he know something that we don't even know about?" At that moment, the two then set off, with Whihelmina following them.
However, they are not the only persons having a confused thought, because even Shana's contractor is pounding the following thought:
Could that man earlier be the sign that He is involving Himself in this?
Author's note: I know, it seems like Shana and Yuji are OOC...
But seriously, that many crossovers are causing a lot of changes in the anime...
