"Make memories with me "

Drawing shoulder-length blonde hair behind a human ear Soubi peered at his demure sacrifice who dropped to sit on the couch in a huff. Dressed in a short sleeved dark blue shirt and black jeans, lamplight played with shadows on his visible features while he stared at the opposite wall.

*You and I, we should be making memories every time we're together...

He never seemed to find a way to make Ritsuka happy, or keep him happy. For the longest time he couldn't even do what he promised- protect his young sacrifice.

*I'm sorry, don't you give up on me...

Each chance he found, Soubi did his best to make Ritsuka feel good- smile, laugh, something. It began with making memories at the park, then he captured a photograph of the rare creature his sacrifice requested, and so much more over the years. He devoted nearly every moment of thought, and simply every moment of his life to the younger male.

"Tomorrow, since you don't have school, I can treat you to an enjoyable afternoon- you can bring any of your friends, and we'll go to a museum, park, anywhere you like" he suggested pleadingly.

The cat-eared boy's lips curved upward, and his fighter became gladdened. Quickly he returned to a frown though, "That won't change what you said".

*Don't pretend you're not smiling again...

"The past cannot be changed, but I will do all that I am capable of to assure your future is amazing"; he reached for a smaller hand, but it quickly withdrew.

Ritsuka stood and walked away from his fighter, silently grabbing a black jacket off the coat rack.

Soubi jumped to his feet.

*Don't walk out that door, there's no need to leave anymore...

Two months prior Ritsuka at last accepted his offer to share this apartment with him.

Unfortunately that was the problem at the moment. Soubi mentioned how much better this was- just the two of them, living together, without all the madness of his childhood. Ritsuka quickly took offense, for his mother died five months previously, and he knew what his fighter meant- that it was better now that she was out of his life, completely.

At eighteen years of age his sacrifice had indeed grown taller, but still remained two inches shorter than he. Soubi rushed to the younger, trying to look into his eyes, but was continuously dodged due to those two inches that other times seemed insignificant.

"Ritsuka... please look at me", with a light touch the older man turned his head and lavender orbs carried oceans to meet azure.

"You just don't understand Soubi" he whispered, voice cracking as tears spilled from his eyes and wet black locks which were spilled over his shoulders by his angry jerking movements ten minutes before. Dropping his hand from the jacket he turned to face the twenty seven year old.

Soubi's hand shifting from his chin and gently rested on his right shoulder. "I try to Ritsuka, I wish I could... but that part of my life is lost to me", he said quietly, referring to the death of his parents so many years ago. He tried to remember them, but now there was only flickers and the brief recollection of the sound of his name spoken from his mother's lips.

Ritsuka paused, realizing again that he and Soubi weren't so different. He pulled the older man closer, wrapping his arms around his muscular torso. Soubi gratefully returned his embrace.

"I'd like to visit that nearby pond tomorrow, just you and I", Ritsuka mentioned, tone lighter.

"I'd like that" Soubi replied, placing a tender kiss on his forehead.

Stepping back Ritsuka entwined their fingers. With enormous emotion spoken through his gaze, he whispered "Make memories with me Soubi". Said man leaned forward and joined their lips in a long kiss.

Breaking free for air, side by side they walked down the short hallway into the bedroom they now shared.
