Chapter 25: Party Drama
Massie Block smirked, placing her hands on her hips as she surveyed the area around her. Everything was set up perfectly. The platforms had been spread out around the backyard so that nobody would have to walk on the grass, ruining the girls' heels. The sound system was set up with iPod in place, already blaring the latest hits. The snakes were set up with drinks on nearby tables. And the neon lights had been placed in the heated pool, as well as fresh towels placed in the warming cabinet in the pool house.
Everything was going according to plan and she couldn't be happier about it. Not only was her house looking magnificent, but her friends all looked like perfect tens.
Alicia's deep, olive complexion with her sun-kissed tint to it from the warm summer months and vacation in Spain was emphasized due to her white, keyhole, halter top, bandage body con dress. The tight, stretchy material hit every curve perfectly and showed off her ample cleavage.
She wore her thick, raven colored hair loose around her shoulders, gently curled for a little bit of added volume. Her lipstick was a bright shade of red, everything else about her makeup neutral and barely detectable. And on her feet were a pair of high heeled, red pumps decked out in sparkles.
Claire had her blonde hair curled in a sloppy, careless fashion with a quick, slightly mess poof pulling her bangs from her face. She wore dark eye makeup, framing her blue eyes with a perfect smoky look. Her lips were nude, matching her t-strapped heels. And she wore a strapless, baby pink dress with a pleated bottom and a keyhole at the front.
Dylan's hair was starting to get some of the red back, thanks to her brilliant hairdresser applying some auburn highlights to her curls. It fell long, wild, and loose, tumbling past her shoulders in its usual tangle of curls.
She ad on a black dress with a loose, skater-styled bottom and a tight bodice. The neckline was high and sheer, showing off her cleavage. And she wore a pair of black shoes with an elegant pep toe, a strap around the ankle and a mock trigger on the heel.
She had on sparkly, yet neutral make-up to show off her inner beauty, a new perk of her confident personality.
Kristen wore a nude colored, cut out, peplum dress The top had two thick straps, the bottom having a lacy tutu effect over the fitted skirt. And just on the trim of the neckline and on the straps, the top part had that same lace effect.
She wore it with a pair of thickly strapped, nude high heels with an open toe. Her long blonde hair was curled carelessly at the bottom, all tossed over one shoulder and her makeup was heavy, making every one of her features more intense and defined.
Massie had straightened her hair and allowed it to gain a bit of its wave back, towards the bottom, from the night air. It fall down her back, loose and careless so that she wouldn't be fidgeting with it all night long.
She wore a strapless black dress with a peplum skirt and a tight, sequenced top. A pair of black high heels, covered in sequins added to her height, showing off her pedicure. And her make-up was done in a normal fashion, just enough to accent her positive assets and adjust her negative ones.
"Ready for this?" She asked, approaching Claire and swinging an arm around her friend's shoulders. "This is your first big night out as one of us. Think you can handle it?" She teased, flashing her a reassuring smile.
"Claire's got this-and she has one of the best people acting as her guide. Who could be better than the party queen of Westchester?" Alicia said, tossing her hair over her shoulder as the approached them.
"She could handle this on her own. She's tougher than she looks," Dylan complimented the blonde as she joined her friends, flicking a strand of hair from her lipgloss. "Just wait and see-she's going to shock all of us tonight. I have a good feeling about this party, Mass-did I tell you that yet?" Dylan asked, tilting her head to the side as she twirled that same strand of hair around a fingertip.
"Dyl," Kristen sighed, booty-bumping her friend as she approached. "You're doing the rambling thing again. We talked about that. Remember?" She teased, sticking her tongue out.
"Okay, guys-let's get serious. It's time for the best party of the year," Massie said, confidently shaking out her hair. "Or, at least until we throw another," She winked over her shoulder at her friends.
Olivia came walking into the party in a tight, form-fitting bubblegum pink dress with black accents. The stomach was cut out, the straps black and thick. It hugged every curve, added to her cleavage and left her long legs bare. And her legs were made to look even better due to her multi-strapped pink high heels.
She shook out her wild mane of curls, curling her first tighter around her clutch purse. Surveying the room with her denim blue eyes narrowed, framed by mascara coated lashes, she pursed her heart shaped, bright pink colored lips together.
Her makeup had been done perfectly and carefully, each color meant to make her appear even more Barbie-doll like than she normally did. And she was loving every second of her Barbie doll appearance.
Besides her, on one side, was Kori, dressed in an off the shoulder, white lace dress with a ruffle top. A pair of white heels added to her height and she was holding a white clutch in her hair tightly.
She had on bright red lipstick, with barely any other color to her face at all. Her hair was curled and pinned up carefully, to frame her face and appear shorter than it really was.
And on the other side, there was Strawberry, in her comic-book styled dress. It had a form fitting bodice and a loose skirt, giving a slight poof around her pale legs. She wore it with a pair of black, peep toe, sued ankle booties with a high wedge and her purse looked like a black sleep mask.
Her colorful hair fell loose, falling into her face in its messy fashion and she had on her usual dark, over the top make-up.
"Massie really did invite everybody, didn't she?" She observed, wrinkling her tiny little nose in disgust at the sight of Layne Abely walking in with her usual minions-Heather and Meena.
And as always, they were dressed as though they were about to start a rio of some kind, not caring that they were at a party or what everybody else was wearing. Layne never had been one to follow trends or do what was viewed as acceptable, though.
Which explained her high heeled, black, lace up ankle boots with the studded heels. She wore her eye makeup heavy, with nothing else on her face, hair piled up on the top of her head in a messy bun, strands falling loose and careless.
She had on a high waisted, buckled, leather mini skirt with a pleated bottom. Tucked neatly into the skirt was a scoop neck, Chicago white teeshirt with a grey and black graphic design on it.
Sometimes, Olivia hated how Layne was so pretty and had such an incredible body, but didn't seem to care about any of the normal things pretty girls cared about. And she didn't even try to look good. She just did it.
Even her friends-skinny as a stick Heather, with her messy, almost shaved head of white-blonde hair and pale skin, always looked good. She wore nothing more for make-up than eyeliner and mascara, and her face was still clear and gorgeous.
And she always wore clothes that managed to make her look as though she had some curves, like the painted on, leather skinny jeans in the dark shade of black, paired with a tight, stretchy, black tank top with a pink flower on it. The shirt was short, ending just below her chest, and she on hot pink pumps with an ultra high heel that matched the design almost perfectly.
And then there was Meena, with her streaked green blonde hair, wearing dark, thick eyeliner without an eyeshadow and thick, blue mascara to make her eyes an even more obvious color.
She had on a pair of high heeled, lime green and black heels with a staggered effect on the heel. Multiple straps made up the shoe, and it was the only ounce of color-besides her hair-in her outfit. She had on black, stretchy, high waisted shorts with a mock-neck, black and white stripped cropped tank top.
"Liv, can we go and-"
"Yeah, sure, whatever," Olivia rolled her eyes, waving for her friends to go off and do whatever it was they wanted.
She didn't care what they were up to, anyways. She had a plan that she had to follow through with, and that was her only priority.
After all, she still had to develop the plan.
"Josh!' Alicia said brightly, pulling Claire over to the boys who were sitting at one of the pub tables that had been set up for the party. "Cam!" She gave both a quick hug, releasing Claire as soon as they were free of the crowd they'd just fought their way through.
"Hey, Leesh," Cam laughed. "Hi, Claire-do you know Josh?" He asked, nodding towards the boy sitting there with his Yankees baseball hat on.
Claire smiled at the new boy shyly, doing her best to keep her gaze from Cam. After all, he had played her, used her and taken advantage of her. He didn't deserve a second glance from her. And, anyways, she was pretty sure that Alicia was into the dark haired boy, so she didn't need to push things there.
She knew that Alicia was constantly talking about how she was going after Josh, but the entire time they'd been getting ready for the party and trying to find the boys, she'd been ranting about how Cam had banished her to the friend zone. And when Claire and asked if she still had feelings for Cam, Alicia had said that she wasn't giving up hope and she wasn't going to stop trying for him until she definitely had somebody else.
"I don't think I've met him before, actually-I'm Claire, Lyons. I'm from Florida," She said, reaching a hand out to shake.
"Josh Hotz-I actually just transferred from Hotchkiss. I sorta got expelled," He admitted sheepishly, shaking her hand.
"Oh, so you're one of those guys?" Claire asked, tilting her head to the side.
"One of what guys?"
"A bad boy," she winked.
He tossed his head back laughing, spilling a little bit of his beer in the process. When he looked back at her, his eyes were full of admiration and awe, clearly impressed with her. He reached out and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her closer to him.
"Cam, Leesh-where have you been hiding this one? She's hilarious," He flashed that winning smile that made Claire realize why all the girls at Westchester had been swooning over him for so long.
"Actually, Claire probably hates me. I was a bit of a douche bag to her when she first moved here," Cam explained with a laugh that didn't quite reach his eyes. "In fact..Claire, would you mind talking to me alone for a second?" He asked.
Claire shot Alicia a questioning look, taking the tilted head gesture as a sign to go ahead and talk to him. So, she nodded and squirmed out of Josh's hold, following Cam even farther away from the crowds, towards the guest house where she lived.
"I never actually apologize to you about that whole date thing. I shouldn't have done it, especially since it was with Olivia. The thing is…I actually did like you, but I was kinda being an idiot. I thought that I only wanted to go out with you because you were so different from Massie and I was willing to do anything to get over her. Either way, it wasn't fair to you and it wasn't nice. So…I'm sorry," He said, everything coming out in a rushed rumble of words, as if he were terrified she was going to cut him off.
"Cam," She giggled, holding a hand up. "It's fine-really. I'm over it, and it wasn't like I was dying for a date with you. I didn't even know you," She flashed him that charming smile she had seen Massie flash so many times.
Maybe Alicia wanted something with Cam. But she couldn't hold a claim on both Cam and Josh. Until she had made up her mind, Claire was not going to close any doors on herself when it came to boys. Especially with what Massie had told her about Homecoming.
Besides, if Cam only thought of Alicia as a friend, there was no reason Claire couldn't try to have a shot with him. He was still available and Alicia really didn't hold any possession on him. She didn't have any hold on Josh, either, and as of that moment, it seemed as though they both preferred Claire. Who was she to refuse them?
"Do you think we could get to know one another?" Cam asked her, reaching up to scratch behind his beck nervously.
"I'd like that-but, we should get back to Leesh and Josh. I promised I'd hang out with her tonight," Claire said, glancing back towards the party.
"Let's go," He grinned, holding his arm out for her.
"Damn, my girlfriend is one of the hottest females in the world," Derrick said, wrapping his arms around Massie's skinny waist from behind, pulling her close to him.
"One of?" She asked, cocking an eyebrow as she tilted her head to face him.
"The hottest," He corrected, leaning down and giving her a quick peck. "Now stop playing the perfect little hostess and come dance with me," he said, turning her around to face him, tightening his grip on her.
"But-"
"Massie…you can't walk around looking like that and not dance with me," He told her sternly. "It's not fair-not fair at all," he sighed.
"I was just-"
"Massie, please?" He begged.
"Derrick, stop," she giggled. "I was just trying to tell you that Kristen and Kemp wanted us to go swimming with them. They challenged us to a game of chicken. I sent Dylan around to spread the word," She reached up, shoving his shoulders gently to get an inch of space.
"Will you be wearing a bikini?" he asked her.
"You are such a pig," she laughed.
Kristen came giggling out of the changing room in Massie's large poolhouse with Massie following after her, both girls in a hysterical fit of giggles. Alicia can running out after them-or, as close as Alicia ever came to running-with the same giggling nature. And then came Dylan, laughing even harder than her friends.
"It wasn't that bad-was it?" she asked when the girls had stopped to catch their breath. "I mean, I didn't even eat anything to make a burp that nasty, you know?" She reached up, taking her long ponytail and twisting it around its high up hold, creating a large, almost flawless ball at the top of her head to ensure that her hair didn't get wet when she went swimming.
She was dressed in a fringe bikini top with a series of green and brown colors crafting the tribal print. A pair of brown bottoms stretched across her large butt and she had on brown flip-flops, her golden key belly button ring dangling over the edge of her bottoms.
"Dyl, I love you and all, but it was that bad," Kristen rolled her eyes, flipping her fishtail braid over her shoulder.
She was wearing a strapless top with a black and white stripped pattern, covered with brightly colored tropical flowers. Her bottoms matched perfectly and black flip flops kept her feet from getting wet. And the light reflected off of her rhinestone studded, black ball belly button ring, drawing attention right to it.
"It was pretty disgusting, but I always tell you that," Alicia admitted, tightening her low ponytail casually.
Her black bikini had a high neckline but a keyhole to show off her cleavage. The bottoms were plain and simple, merely black fabric. She had on wedged, black flip flops and a diamond studded belly button ring broadcasting that she was nothing more than a BITCH.
"Guys-hold up," Massie said, pausing with her hands still adjusting her flawless, top of the head sock bun. "Where the hell is Claire?" She asked, glancing around the almost empty pool house.
"I told her we were going to have a chicken tournament," Dylan bit down on her bottom lip, following Massie's gaze.
"Did she realize that it wasn't optional?" Massie narrowed her golden eyes, reaching up to tie her cheetah print bikini top tighter. "Because I'm not so sure that she did," She moved to tighten the ties of her black bikini bottom.
"Mass," Kristen giggled, reaching over and flicking her golden, heart shaped belly button ring. "Calm down. It's not that big of a deal," she rolled her eyes.
"Yes, it is!" Massie stomped a black flip flop covered foot.
"She's fine-the last I saw of her was when she left Cam and I to show Josh around. He had all of the guys' stuff in his car and he wanted to move it into the barn before since they're all sleeping-"
"Why did Josh need to be shown around my house?" Massie asked.
"I was just ex-"
"No, Alicia," Massie held up a hand to silence her. "Why did Josh Hotz need to be shown around my house when he's been here before and slept over here before? When those events happened to have taken place just last week," Massie asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
"You don't think…."Kristen trailed off.
"No, she knew that Leesh was into him!" Dylan shook her head.
"I swear to God if that little slut is making a move on-"
"Leesh! Calm down. Right now, we're going to act like everything's fine and enjoy the party, because we have no choice. Afterwards, we can figure out what's going on and if you need to get revenge, alright?" Massie hissed.
"Trouble in paradise?" Olivia asked as she walked up to the girls in her pale gold flip flops and white and gold strapless bikini.
She had on a long, dangling gold belly button ring and her hair was up in a bun on the top of her head, in a slightly odd style.
"Don't you belong in who-ville right about now?" Massie snapped at her.
"What?" Olivia narrowed her eyes, eyebrows furrowing in confusion.
"You kind of do look like the girl from The Grinch!" Kori gasped, eyes wide in realization.
She had on white flip-flops with a black and white, polka dot ruffle bikini with a bandeau top. She had a black, shiny, ball belly button ring and her hair in the same style it had been in all night long.
"Shit, you do," Strawberry cackled, twisting her hair tie around her pig-tail buns on the top of her head.
She had on a black bikini with gold straps connecting the top to a choker-style neckline. The bottoms had the same thing, only wrapping around her torso. And her skull and crossbones, black belly button ring was peaking out from the spaces between the straps.
Olivia glared at her friends before turning on her heel and storming off, the other two girls shrugging at one another before racing off after her.
"See? Just act like everything's fine," Massie said, flashing her friends her most confident smile.
"So I'm allowed to ask what the hell Lame is wearing?" Alicia asked with a slight giggle.
Massie followed her gaze towards Layne, who's hair was in a low side ponytail. She wore a high waisted pair of bikini bottoms with black and white strips. Her halter strapped top was all right, and she had a rhinestone covered bow tie belly button ring just above her bottoms. Black and silver flip-flops were tossed aside by the pool chair she had just walked away from.
Besides Layne's flip flops were Meena's own hot pink ones. The girl had her hair in a simple braid and was already in the pool, lying on a floatation device, in a tankini styled, hot pink halter top and polka dotted bottoms in black and white, still high waisted. And she had on the same belly button ring as Layne, only with pink stones.
Heather's black flip flops were on the top of the pile, as the girl kicked them off and dove into the water, not caring if her short blonde hair got wet. She wore a bikini in the same style as Layne's, but all black with a spirally, hot pink belly button ring.
"Apparently it's a….fad," Kristen said, her face full of shock, bewilderment and confusion.
"A bad fad," Dylan burped out, causing all four girls to burst into hysterics once again, and making them all forget about Claire's disappearance.
"Weren't you just here last week with Mass?" Claire asked as she led Josh into the barn where they'd all be sleeping that night.
Massie's parents had completely renovated it after sending her horse to the stables. It was set up like yet another hangout for Massie and her friends, with even more gaming systems, table games, TVs, movies, video games, and comfortable seating throughout the entire room.
"Yeah, so?" He asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Shouldn't you know your way around her house?" Claire giggled nervously.
"I was only here once, Claire-bear," He answered with a chuckle.
"Yeah…I guess her house is kind of confusing to get around," Claire said softly, twirling her hair around her fingertips, eyes lowered on the ground as she walked.
"Claire," He laughed, stopping in his tracks. "Claire, seriously-wait up," He reached out, grabbing her forearm and pulling her back towards him.
"What?" She asked breathlessly.
"Do I make you nervous?" He asked, placing his hands on the wall, palms flat against the surface and keeping her trapped between him and the wall.
"No," She answered quickly, trying to take a step back.
"Claire, calm down," He laughed, releasing his hold and taking a step back. "I'm just messing with you. But….you don't have to act like your afraid of me. Or be afraid of me. I'm not evil," he shook his head.
He was laughing as he spoke, but there was a hint of pain lingering on his face as he talked to her, showing that he really did think she feared him, and it really did hurt him. And that upset Claire, because while he had made her slightly nervous, he had also been nothing but nice to her. She hated to be the one who made him feel that way.
"You really don't make me nervous, Josh," She said, dropping down the stuff she had been carrying and taking a seat on the couch. "I'm just not used to all this attention," she admitted.
"What are you used to, then?" He asked, putting the stuff he'd been carrying down in a neat pile and stacking Claire's forgotten bags on top.
"Being ignored. Rejected. Insulted-and that's just since I started here," Claire shrugged.
"That's ridiculous," Josh shook his head, sitting down on the couch besides her. "You're gorgeous and sweet and funny….anybody who didn't immediately love you has got to be out of their mind," he told her, reaching out and wrapping an arm around her.
"You don't have to be nice to me. I know Massie's making everybody she can order around be nice to me, but I'd prefer if you were just….real," She told him, reaching up to swipe a strand of hair from her face.
"Claire, I'm being one hundred percent honest right now." He promised her, moving a little closer. "I like you, Claire," he whispered.
"You do?" She whispered.
"I do," He assured her, moving out and pushing her hair away from her face.
He kept his hand cupping her face, before pulling her in closer to him and planting a small, peck-like kiss on her glossy lips. He pulled back as quickly as he had moved in, but kept his face close to hers.
"Was that okay?" He asked.
"Yeah," She nodding, a bright smile taking over her face.
"Can I do it again?" He asked.
She didn't answer him verbally. Instead, she closed the distance between them and wrapped her arms around him, joining in on another kiss. And, unlike she had always thought, she wasn't nervous about her first kiss or what she was doing wrong.
She wasn't concerned that she wasn't a good kisser. She didn't care what he was thinking. All that mattered was that she was kissing him and he was kissing her back, and they were alone and he had been nice to her from the start-the only person to have done that since she arrived in Westchester.
His arms wrapped around her waist as he pushed her back against the couch, lying on top of her. Her hands crawled up underneath his shirt, crumbling up the fabric as she moved her hands higher and higher against his chest.
He broke the kiss for a few seconds, pulling the shirt off for her. And, taking her lead, he removed her dress, cursing the zipper that kept getting stuck as he tried to work it down without breaking the kiss. He helped her to kick off her shoes and then he kicked his off.
Then she was at work on taking off his jeans, fighting with the buckle and whining at the time that it was taking.
Claire knew that she wasn't supposed to do it. She knew it was wrong and all too fast. She barely knew Josh and she had never even been kissed before. She was about to give it all up at once, but she couldn't bring herself to really care.
Nothing about it felt wrong. It all felt incredibly right and Josh was being so sweet, constantly asking her if she was alright, double checking with her agreement, and whispering sweet compliments to her, his breath hot as the air went directly into her ear.
She'd never felt anything like that before-so wanted and accepted. So comfortable with herself. She had never felt so…alright with losing control.
And besides-she was having fun. She was enjoying every second of what was happening, and so far, they hadn't done anything more than kiss. They were just wearing a minimal amount of clothing-but it was exactly the same as if they had been wearing their bathing suits.
"Claire," Josh said, his voice rough and low in her ear. "God, you're beautiful…I want you so bad right now," He pleaded, his lips moving down to kiss her neck, biting at the skin there playfully.
"Josh," She sighed, rotating her hips against his as her nails dug into the bare skin on his shoulders.
She went to turn their situation around, fighting for dominance. But, forgetting they were on a couch, she overestimated the turn and they tumbled off of the couch, landing on the carpeted floor.
They burst into a mess of giggles as he pulled her close again, kissing her square on the mouth and pulling her up on top of him.
"You're new at this, aren't you?" He chuckled into her ear.
"You aren't?" She shot back.
"Fair enough," He grinned, going back to leaving his mark on her neck.
And then he kissed his way back up to her mouth, arms reaching up to get to the clasp of her bra, and, within seconds, he had it unhooked and off, tossing it aside as he kissed his way back down her neck.
"Josh," she moaned, rolling their position again so that he was back on top of her.
She could feel how much he wanted her, pressing up against him. And she knew that he wasn't going to go any farther unless he thought she wanted to, but she wanted it. She wanted it, but wasn't sure if she would seem like a needy, desperate slut if she went for it.
"Claire, I really want you right now," Josh sighed.
"Who says you can't have me?" She grinned, raising a pale eyebrow.
"Damn…you're sexy for one of those innocent types-anyone ever tell you that?" he laughed.
But, they never made it any farther than that. Just as Josh went to remove the final layers of clothing covering them up, the door to the barn opened and a loud, audible gasp escaped from one of their spectator's mouths.
Josh rolled off of her, reaching for the first article of clothing he could find and tossing it to her. Claire struggled to get Josh's shirt on, trying to cover herself up as quickly as possible. And Josh adjusted his position, trying to hide the tent forming beneath his boxers. Claire shot upward, taking in the boy and girl standing in the doorway-one looking shocked and the other one looking pissed.
"Claire?" That was Massie.
"Josh? Claire? What the…are you fucking kidding me?" And that was Cam.
"Cam! Wait-don't-shit…what the fuck happened?" Massie snapped, the door slamming shut behind her. She came storming into the room, stopping just before the couple on the ground. "Well? Somebody better start explaining," She glared, crossing her arms over her chest.
