Chapter 24:

With Katara

Katara stayed under the tarp until she couldn't hear the footsteps of the man from before. She peeked out, staying silent. The man was gone; but so was her dad. She wiped the growing tears from her eyes as she crawled out from under the tarp.

"Hello?" she whispered. A rat scurried behind her, making her jump from the surprise of the noise. She walked slowly out of the alley, retracing her steps to her house. The police were still there from this morning. She walked behind the house and looked over the bay, thinking of everything the man said. 'You may as well know, since no one will ever be able to find you. I'm taking you to my secret base under the Avatar Aang statue, where your wife and daughter have been dying to meet you.' She shivered as the wind blew around her. She looked at the statue in question. It was too far away to tell, but it looked like there were two men on the shore, one with a flash of red. "Daddy!" She whispered in shock. She watched as the two figures disappeared under the statue. She looked around, looking for someone to help her. She thought about going to the cops in her house. She ran to the front door and up the stairs to her family's apartment. Swinging the door open she ran in. She caught the attention of Bolin, who was still helping to look for any clues. "Uncle Bo, Uncle Bo!" She cried, running to his arms.

"Katara, what are you doing here?" Bolin asked, picking up the girl.

"He took daddy! He took daddy!" she kept repeating into his neck.

"Wait a minute, who took daddy?"

"Amon."

With Korra

Korra and Macandrian sat in the cell, waiting for something, anything to happen to give them a fighting chance. She heard the door open and close down the hall and a man being dragged unwillingly.

"Let me go!" She heard the man yell. She thought it sounded familiar, but hoped it wasn't what she thought.

"Hello, Avatar. I've brought a visitor for you." Amon threw to man into the cell after opening the door. He walked in behind him.

"Daddy!" Macandrian yelled, crawling over to her father, not having been chained like her mother.

"Macandrian,Korra!" Mako realized, pulling his daughter into his lap. He hugged her close and kissed her hair. Amon had gone behind Korra and released her hands from the wall, figuring without her bending, she'd be no threat. Korra flung herself towards Mako when she was free hugging his neck and sobbing. Amon then walked behind Mako and placed on hand on his neck. Korra started to get ready to fight back.

"You fight, he dies," Amon threatened. Korra slumped in defeat and horror as she watched Mako lose his bending. She caught him as she slumped forward and looked toward Amon. "Three down, one to go," he said before walking out of the room. Korra could only stare in horror and fear for her other daughter.

With Katara

Bolin and Lin sprang into action and got a car ready. After they had questioned Katara of what happened, and found out that Amon was hiding at Avatar Aang Statue, they thought of a plan to get Korra and the others out of there. When the sun had completely gone down, they started getting into the car. Lin drove with 3 of her highest trained men in the passenger seat and the back, Bolin had tagged along and brought Katara because they couldn't just leave her alone. Lin went over the plan one more time. She and the guards would sneak into the compound and locate Korra and the others, Bolin and Katara would get in the second car, which was following behind them, after they arrived and get ready to drive them back to headquarters. After the targets were away safely, the rest of the team would escape. It was dangerous, having to make sure they weren't found out, on top of getting the family out, and who knows what condition they were in. They'd arrived on the island silently, parking the cars on the recently built bridge that led from the statue to the city. They had all donned themselves in all black and moved into position. Bolin and Katara watched from the first car as the police started walking to the statue. Once they had disappeared from sight, Bolin opened the car door and hopped out with Katara. He let go of her hand as they walked to the car that was behind the one they were in. Bolin opened the car door, but when he turned back to let Katara in, she was gone.

"Katara?" Bolin whispered, but to no avail, she had gone in after the guards.
