A/N My sincere apologies for making you all wait later than normal last week and kind of today as well. I've had a hectic and emotional week so shmer.
Goofy4ever: Yes, an awe worthy moment.
yesitsjennifer: As per usual your review made me laugh, this time more so than normal I nearly fell out of my chair laughing so hard. However, I was flattered that you were so worried that something had happened to me. I am physically in perfect health, at least that's what my dr. says since I had an appointment the other day, but she knows nothing of my sanity, lol. The funny thing was your review was so long I couldn't read it just in my inbox, I had to read it on the website so bravo.
lil labro 31: Hi, welcome to the party! Darn, I always get the fettuccine wrong for some reason but I love the dish.
Spirit Kiss: Well, I wanted to give them a normal date, until everything goes wrong.
littleditto: Yay, Jake! Thanks.
arose4u2: I know, they are adorable. And as far as this story it will be going all the way to the end of breaking dawn and even a little down the road from there.
DearChibico: Have no fear we are far from done here. Strap yourself in for a fun ride. And yeah, Seth is a cutie.
Avalongirl55: Ha, yeah, jealousy is always fun to write but not so fun to experience.
Sarah (Guest): Thank you so much and I make it my mission to always answer reviews and connect with my readers.
Little Miss Uncertified: Wow, thanks for the all the praise and I am glad you've decided to join the fun!
lillydumbledore: Thanks, and I'm sure he is. *swoons*
Disclaimer: As always, I do not own Twilight. Enjoy!
A few days later Charlie came over for dinner with Sue and Dad. He told us Bella had called and told him she was sick and couldn't come home until she got better. Whilst Sue and I started dinner, Charlie and Dad sat down to watch the game. I knew once Jake got home and found out about Bella he'd be pissed and probably want to see for himself.
Suddenly the phone rang, "Hello?" I answered.
"Pen, it's Rose," I heard Rosalie reply. I quickly walked out of the room.
"Hey, I heard about Bella. How's she adjusting?"
"That's the problem, we need you to come over as soon as possible."
"What's wrong?"
"I'll explain when you get here." She seemed frantic.
"I'll be there soon." As soon as I came back in the room and set down the phone, I saw Charlie and Dad looking at me. "I gotta go." Dad couldn't say anything with Charlie in the room.
I grabbed my jacket and hopped on my motorcycle. I rode over to the Cullens' and strode right in the door.
"Guys!" I called as I went upstairs and rounded a corner. Bella, still human, sat on the white couch looking extremely pale, skinny, and seriously sick. Rose stood over her and Edward was nearby looking out the window. The others were either standing or sitting about the room.
"Hey, Pen," Bella croaked. My jaw dropped when I noticed her protruding abdomen.
"You're pregnant?" Bella half-smiled. "But how? It's only been a few weeks."
Carlisle stepped in, "The fetus grows faster than human children."
"No offense Bells, but why is she so pale?"
"It's killing her," Edward said in a hollow voice.
Rose glared at him angrily, "The baby is just stronger than her, that's all."
"Rose," Bella pleaded before looking at me. "I'm strong enough for this." I had no idea what to say, I was so conflicted. As always it was Bella's choice to have this baby or not. However, if she didn't live long enough to turn into a vampire, I wasn't sure if Edward would be able to live with himself.
"I'll be here for you, Bells," I said once I found my voice. Edward's expression hardened, which I didn't think was possible.
Just then I heard the roar of a motorcycle. Uh, oh. Jake. "What is it?" Bella demanded.
"Jake's here," I answered quietly.
Carlisle went to answer the door. "Is it true?" I heard my brother growl.
Carlisle was polite of course, "Hello, Jacob, how are you?"
"Listen, just give it to me straight."
"Jake, is that you?" Bella called.
"She's here?" Jake asked Carlisle.
Carlisle sighed, "They came home two weeks ago. Jake." Footsteps sounded as Carlisle and Jake trudged upstairs. They finally appeared and Rose blocked Bella from view.
"Pen? When did you get here?" Jake asked when he saw me near the couch.
I shrugged, "A few minutes ago." Jake approached the sofa.
"I'm glad you came," Bella told him.
"Close enough," Rose warned Jake.
Jake looked at her puzzled, "What's your problem?" If only he knew. Rosalie always wanted a child but since she was a vampire that was impossible. I wasn't sure what she wanted with the baby but she cared more about it than Bella.
"Rose, it's okay," Bella said calmly. Jake walked around Rose to see Bella on the couch wrapped up in a newly added blanket.
Jake sighed, "You look terrible."
Bella and I grinned. "Yeah, it's nice to see you, too."
"So, are you gonna tell me what's wrong with you?"
"Rose, Pen, you wanna help me up?" Bella removed the blanket and revealed her huge baby bump, complete with bruises, as Rose and I helped her to her feet.
Jake stood up and stared at her stomach. He then glared at Edward before storming over to him. "You did this!" Emmett grabbed Jake's shoulder, stopping him.
"We didn't know it was even possible," Carlisle announced.
"What is it?" Jake demanded. A baby?
"I'm not sure," Carlisle answered. "Ultrasounds and needles won't penetrate the embryonic sac."
Bella sat down as Alice stood up. "I can't see it, either. And I can't see Bella's future anymore." Uh, oh. That I didn't know.
"We've been researching legends but there isn't much to go on," Carlisle continued. "What we do know is that it's strong. And fast-growing."
"Why haven't you done anything?" Jake snarled. "Take it out of her!" That would kill it.
Rose glared at my brother, "This is none of your business, dog."
"Rose!" Esme scolded and I had to agree but this was all quickly getting out of hand. "All this fighting isn't good for Bella."
"The fetus isn't good for Bella," Alice pointed out angrily.
Rose scowled at her sister, "Say the word, Alice. 'Baby'. It's just a little baby."
"Possibly," Jasper spoke up.
"The problem is we don't know anything about…it," I pointed out.
Jake turned to Carlisle, "Carlisle, you've got to do something."
"No," Bella said with finality. "It's not his decision. It's not any of yours." I was proud of Bells for putting her foot down.
"Jacob, I need to talk to you," Edward said. Jake followed Edward outside as I sat next to Bella. The silence was deafening. No one knew what to say.
A few minutes later I heard Jake coming back and Alice pulled me out of the room. I was kind of thankful that I didn't have to listen to that conversation. I decided to help Esme make some food for Bella but Carlisle said it probably wouldn't do any good because her baby was rejecting all nutrition.
After a few minutes I heard Jake run out the door. I busted out of the house and quickly undressed before phasing and racing towards La Push.
I could hear Jake thinking over his conversations with Bella and Edward. A howl went up and other howls echoed. I stopped and sat back on my haunches and howled. Everyone started talking at once; I couldn't decipher who was talking. We all raced to the lumber yard.
Once I broke through the tree line I saw Jake. I went over to him as the others appeared and started circling us.
