Master Sword Recharged! Part 1 – Trial of Courage
(Greetings readers, and welcome back to another chapter of Shadows Over Spira! Our heroes have defeated Yunalesca and now have to find a way to defeat Sin without the Final Summoning, but first Link has to awaken the dormant power of the Master Sword! Let's join them now on the Al-bhed airship)
Brother: "Frana du huf?" ["Where to now?"]
Cid: Aren't we the happy lookin' bunch?
Brother: "Frana? Frana?" ["Where? Where?"]
Rikku: 'Where, where?' That all you can say? Why don't you think of something!?
Link: First off, we need to head to the Mihen Travel agency. There i'll be able to get the Master Sword awoken!
Rikku: That's fine and all. But what do we do about Sin?
Auron: Well? Any good ideas?
Link: I'm drawing a blank...
Auron: What do we know... Sin is Jecht. Thus, you have a link...a bond with Sin. That may be our key.
Link: So what do we do?
Auron: We think, and we wait.
Link: Two things I'm bad at.
[Yuna and Kimahri go to the upperdeck viewing area later. Link drops by.]
Yuna: I'm no good at all.
Link: What do you mean?
Yuna: All this time, I've been thinking about how to defeat Sin. But I... Beyond the teachings of Yevon, I...I know nothing. I'm sorry.
Kimahri: Yuna, no apologies.
Yuna: Huh?
Kimahri: Apology is running. Yuna never run away.
Yuna: Thank you, Kimahri.
Link: So, uh, Kimahri... You got any good ideas?
Kimahri: Yevon's teachings.
Yuna: The teachings won't help us fight Sin.
Kimahri: No answer in the teachings, answers lie outside. Must know both sides to find answer.
Yuna: Both sides...
Kimahri: Mika knows much. Find him, make him talk.
Link: Excellent idea! Good thinking Kimahri.
[Link runs back to the bridge.]
Wakka: Hey, guys! I just had a great idea!
Rikku: It was my idea. Let me tell them!
Wakka: It's like this, ya?
Rikku: I just thought!
Lulu: The Hymn is the key.
Link: The Hymn? You mean Zelda's Lulliby?
Lulu: Right. Sir Jecht likes the Hymn of the Fayth, correct?
Link: Yeah.
Rikku: That's why he was listening to it in Macalania!
Lulu: Sin...violence incarnate, listening peacefully.
Wakka: I know it's your old man, and I don't mean no disrespect, but...
Link: No, it's fine. I''m used to it.
Lulu: Let me say it. If we attack Sin head-on, we've little chance of winning. However, if he hears the Hymn of the Fayth, he will become docile.
Wakka: Yeah, and that's when we make our move! Might be against the rules and all, but who's keeping track, ya? Ya?
Rikku: Yeah! It could really work!
Link: It's worth a shot.
Cid: We've arrived at the Mihen Travel agency!
Link: Alright... I'm going.
Yuna: Not without us.
Rikku: Yeah!
(Our heroes depart the airship and enter the travel agency. Inside Link finds a chest that wasn't there the first time around, he opens it and finds something unexpected, the Ocarina of Time.)
Yuna: What is it?
Rikku: It's ... a flute?
Link: I'll be a Zora's fin... Zelda's ... ocarina. This is the Ocarina of Time. It is the key to the Temple of Time.
Wakka: And where is this temple?
Link: Just up the Highroad a ways. I saw it the first time we were passing through here.
(The party leaves travel agency and heads north through the highroad. The come to a natural bridge on the road. They all stop and look down below, and spot a path leading to a cliff, with a large archway with a closed door.)
Rikku: Is that it?
Link: Yeah...
(a few moments later, the heroes gather in front of the arch way. Link pushes on the large door, but it doesnt open.)
Lulu: How exactly are you going to get it opened.
Rikku: Yeah, that ocarina doesn't look like any key, and i see no keyhole on the door:
Link: I'm going to play a little song...
(Link pulls out the ocarina and plays the Song of Time. It's melody reverberating throughout the area; each note touching time itself. The archway begins to shake, knocking ages of dirt loose from around itself. The Door of Time opening, revealing an ancient temple. They go inside.)
Wakka: Whoa!
Link: ... I haven't been inside this temple... since i had to finde the fused shadows.
(They step inside the main foyer of the Temple. Ahead of them are three stair cases, each one leading to respective hallways. Above each hall was an emblem. The hall on the left had the emblem of Courage, the Kokiri Emerald. The middle hall had the emblem of Power, the Goron Ruby, and the hall on the right held the emblem of Wisdom, the Zora Sapphire. And in the very center of the foyer was a stone slab in the floor, covering stairs leading to Zelda's Sepulcher. An inscription was etched : "To the Hero, To awaken the power that lies within the Sleeping Sword of Evil's Bane: Bring forward the three symbols of the Goddesses' Power.")
Rikku: Talk about cryptic.
Link: Let's go...
Lulu: Go where?
Auron: The three trials. The slab spoke of 3 symbols. There are 3 halls, each with a symbol.
Link: We'll take the left hall.. the symbol of Courage – The Kokiri Emerald.
(Our heroes head inside the first hall, and pass through an invisible barrier. Only Link and Rikku pass through. Inside, they come to a replica of Woodfall Temple. The pathway rises out of the poisoned waters and opens the temple door. Link and Rikku enters the temple, which is another portal. When they come out the otherside, they enter a large open room.)
Link: i have a bad feeling about this...
Rikku: No kidding. Let's hurry up and get out of here!
(Rikku turns to run out the door. But it slams shut)
Link: (enters a defensive stance) Odolwa!
Rikku: Who?!
(Link takes a few steps toward the middle of the room. Odolwa then drops down from the darkness above, and knocks Link to the ground. Link gets to his feet as Rikku runs to his side. Odolwa begins chanting, summoning swarms of flying bugs.)
Rikku: eww, eww, eww! I hate bugs!
Link: Cut through them. And use explosives on Odolwa.
(The duo regains their composure, and charges Odolwa. Rikku continually stun him with grenades and Link cuts him down with his sword. Odolwa falls in defeat. And a beam of light appears where Odolwa once stood. The duo walk into the light and the Kokiri emerald comes floating down, into Link's hands. Link and Rikku vanish from Odolwa's chamber and return to the Temple of Time foyer.)
(Well, that was interesting. Link now has the Kokiri Emerald, With the help of Rikku he has defeated Odolwa. Just 2 more trials remain, what will be in the next trial?
