Well Since I've been off all week because of Thanksgiving I'm going to try and get a Chapter or two typed up! :D

Chapter 24
Your Fairytales are My Reality
Kate POV
I laid in bed staring at the ceiling. I couldn't seem to fall asleep. It's been a full week and I still can't get what Spiritomb said out of my head... It was eating me up inside. What if I cant fight the darkness? I looked over to my Pidgey alarm clock and let out a hopeless sigh... It was 2AM and I have hardly gotten a wink of sleep. I forced my self out of bed and glanced at Aqua who didn't look too good.
"Huh... Aqua? What's wrong honey...?" I frowned looking over at my partner... I carefully picked her up and placed a hand on her forehead. "Warm..."
I carefully carried her to the Pokemon infirmary where I saw Professor Hasting sitting in a chair. He skeptically glanced up at me. "Now what are you doing up so early Miss Kate? Early riser?"
"No Sir... My partner, Aqua, isn't feeling well... She's a little warm... I thought I would get her some medicine and an icepack and just let her rest for the day." I sighed rocking my partner gently.
"Ahh I see..." He nods. "Let's see what we have to treat a fever."
The elderly man stood up before moving about the room gathering a variety of berries and smashing them into a drink. He poured the odd concoction into a baby bottle and placed it in my hands, along with an ice pack.
"There you go. Have her drink this and keep this on her head and she should be as good as new by tomorrow." He smiled.
"Thanks Professor!" I smiled thankfully.
"Why of course! Don't want any of our Rangers Partners sick now do we! You would not believe how many times I've had to cure Sven's Luxray of Electrical Overcharge! By the way, this drink is a mix of Rawst, Lum and Oran berries. Rawst berries are known to cure burns but they can also cool down a Pokemon." He explained to me. "I recommend letting Aqua rest today. Do you have any other partner Pokemon who you could bring along with you until Aqua is Well?"
I thought for a moment. "Oh yes. I think I have the perfect one." I told him before going to walk out of the room.
"Before you go Miss Kate. I found some interesting finding when examining that blood sample of yours from a while back. It was extraordinary. Like nothing I have ever seen..." The professor told me.
I froze up before looking to him once again. "Extraordinary...?"
"Yes... You're blood... is inhuman. Your blood is like that of a water type Pokemon... Or a fish... and it reacted so oddly to the dark stone... I smashed a tiny bit of the darkstone into powder and mixed a bit with your blood... Your blood turned as dark as the sky and glowed..." He looked at me knowingly. "Miss Kate... What exactly are you? You are not human... Are you?"
I smiled a bit. "Do you believe in fairytales Professor?"
Hastings just started laughing. "No I do not. But Chairperson Erma has always loved them."
"Then you wouldn't believe me if I told you what I am. But let's just say your fairytales are my reality sir." I smiled a bit before walking out of the room. "Make sure you get some sleep professor. You look tired. We don't need you falling asleep on the job."
"Alright. Alright. I'll take a hint." He stood up with a yawn. "But before I go to bed. Would you please humor an old man? If you are from a fairytale, what kind would you be part of? If you don't mind me asking." He chuckled.
I stopped walking and turned to him. "I've always enjoyed stories about Mermaids professor. So I believe. I'd be from one about a Mermaid." I hinted.
"Mermaids?" He laughed. "Yes. Oh yes. Mermaids. I should have known from the start! Now tell me this. Is Kellyn apart of this fairytale as well?"
"Yes. I believe he is."
The Professor knows. He knows... I can see it in his eyes. I've never seen this side of the Professor before. He's always seem so stern and scary and all business, no play. But right now... I'm seeing a playful side of the Professor. And This light in his eyes. It's so pure.
"My Mother always loved Mermaid stories, you know. Was always telling me of a prophesy... She always swore that it was the truth... I believe if went something like this:
'One day a human,
Will wash up on sand,
To protect the world from evils hand,
Manaphy, the prince of the sea,
Will lead the human on their way.
To protect and save,
A world unseen.
The human is no ordinary one,
A secret they shall hide,
Part man, part fish on the inside.
Save the home they left behind,
Save the home they found while lost,
Stop the darkness shrouded by,
A false light of hope and peace,
Find a lunar wing of sorts,
Stop a nightmare.
Save the world.'
I listened in silents as he recited the Prophesy. My Prophesy.
"To me... That sounds quite a bit like your story. You were found on the beach of the Ranger School... Almost 3 or 4 years ago, correct? And like I said.. Your blood is like that of a fish. And you lost all memory and have been protecting Almia while you were lost. Last I heard... You got all of your memory back after that unfortunate accident with Dim Sun's cargo ship." He looked as if he was thinking for a long while before he spoke again. "Tell me... Are you the one this Prophesy speaks of?"
"It's a possibility sir." I smiled meekly.
He nodded his head. "Well if you are... That Means Almia's in trouble... Does it not?"
I nodded my head.
"Oh, Arceus help me..." Hastings sighed. "I've been telling mother for years that that prophesy was nothing but a bunch of hogwash... She's going to get a true kick out of finding out that it's the truth like she's been saying... She's 97 you know... Oh Arceus am I going to get one hell of an earful from her." He laughed as he rubbed his balding head. "I won't tell anyone you or your brothers secret, Miss Kate. Well except my mother... It would be wrong of me not to tell the old woman she's right."
"Thankyou Professor." I bowed a bit.
"Now you and I both had better be heading to bed." He looked to his watch. "Egad! It's 3 O'Clock already! Well Goodnight, Aquatic Ranger." He smiled before walking out of the room leaving me completely dumbfounded.
"Did that really just happen..." I stood there with my mouth agape... I let out a tired sigh before trekking back to my bedroom lying a sick tiny turtle down on the bed and collapsing onto my stomach. I soon found myself in a deep sleep.
Several hours later I awoke to the sound of Aqua whining.
I sighed and gave her a little more of the berry medicine that the Professor made for her. I hummed a soft Lullaby before letting Hope out and Aquarius out of their pokeballs.
"Hey... You two. Do you think you can watch over Aqua while I'm out? She isn't feeling well and I don't want to leave her all by herself."
"Yes! Of course Kate!" They both gave me a thumbs up.
"Thanks you two!" I smiled before walking into the bathroom and getting ready for another wonderful day. 10 minutes of messing with my teeth, hair, uniform and makeup, and I was ready to get going with my day.
I then released Calypso from her Pokeball.
"Hey, Calypso. Aqua's sick. Do you think you can be my Partner for the day?" I smiled at the beautiful serpent-like Pokemon.
"Well, of course! Catriona! I would love to be your Partner for the day! Oh Darling!" She squealed wrapping herself around me in an embrace.
I giggled a bit. "Well come on then! Let's go drag Kellyn out of bed and go to Chairperson Erma!"
I smiled before kissing a sleeping Aqua on the forehead before walking out of the room and towards my brothers room with Calypso by my side.
I knocked on the door. "Kellyn? You awake?" I questioned.
I let out an irritated sigh when I finally heard the response come through the closed door... "Five more minutes mommy..." I pushed the door open and walked over to my brothers bed.
"Hey now... Wake up! It's time for work!" I poked his forehead.
"No..." He moaned pulling the covers over his face.
"You're going to miss breakfast if you don't get up..." I sighed shaking him.
"Breakfast!" He sat up quickly without warning causing our foreheads to smash together.
"OW!" We both cried in pain grabbing our heads.
I shot an irritated glare at my brother. "Stupid... Snorlax/Munchlax boy!"
He laughed nervously. "S-Sorry Sis! Oh wait. Why is Calypso out? And Where's Aqua?"
"I'll tell you once you get dressed." I rubbed my temples.
"Okay. Okay." He crawled out of bed and went into the bathroom to get dressed... 5 minutes late my Snorlax of a brother walked out of his bathroom dressed in his uniform.
"Alright. I'm ready. Now can you tell me what's going on?" He questioned.
"Aqua's sick, so Calypso is standing in for her today." I smiled. "Now come on. Let's go get something to eat and head to the Operation room."
"Yay Food!" He took me by the wrist and practically dragged me out of the room leaving poor Blaster behind...
Blaster sighed before attempting to follow us to the cafe where Kellyn stuffed his face with pancakes and berries.
"You're such a Munchlax Kellyn..." I sighed as I ate an Oran berry. "Hey Kellyn..." I looked to him seriously.
"Hmm? What's up? Is something wrong sis?" He swallowed his food.
"Hastings knows our secret..." I whispered to him in a low tone.
I watched as Kellyn nearly choked on the berry he was eating. "H-H-he knows?!" His eyes were full of panic.
"Who knows what?" A familiar voice questioned.
I turned around to see Keith plopping down next to me.
"N-N-Nothing!" The two of us panicked.
"I-I mean... N-No one knows anything! W-Well, come on Calypso! L-Let's go get us something to eat!" I spoke quickly before rushing to the line followed by my frantic Milotic.
"H-Hey I'll go with you!" Kellyn cried out following us finishing his last berry.
Keith and his partner Jet sweatdropped anime style, rubbing the back of their heads... "Okay... That was odd... Hey Jet... I wonder why those two have been acting so weird lately...I think they're hiding something..." He crossed hi arms. "Hmm? Where's Aqua? Wonder why Kate has her Milotic out..."
I carefully put a few berries on my plate along with some Pokepuffs for Calypso before heading back to the table to eat... I sat down and began eating... I smiled gently at milotic and gave her a pokepuff.
"Loooooo~" Divine~ She squealed.
"So Kate? Why is Milotic out of her pokeball?" Keith questioned.
"Aqua's sick..." I sighed. "And since I have to have a partner Pokemon I chose Calypsoto be my partner until Aqua is well again. Plus it gives me some time to be with Calypso." I then proceeded to quietly eat my berries before standing up. "Well I'll meet you upstairs in the Operation Room."
"Yeah... Okay. See you there..." Keith smiled a bit... not his usual goofy smile... it's a sad smile.
I gently kissed his cheek and ruffled his red hair without thinking before rushing out of the room with Calypso. Even if I am still pretty cross with him at the moment... I still hate seeing him looking sad.
"Come on Kellyn!" She called from the hallway.
"I'm coming! I'm coming!" He followed her into the hall stuffing an Oran Berry into his mouth.
Keith POV
I stared after her with a slightly shocked look on my face before a grin appeared on my face. "She still knows just how to cheer me up..." I rubbed the place that she kissed. "I still wonder what her and Kellyn were talking about... They're hiding something... and I plan on finding out." And with that I stood up and walked towards the Operation Room.
"Good Morning, dears. I'm told the diary's deciphering will be slow. In the meantime, go on patrol, please. Report to me when you're done, dear." Chairperson Erma was ordering Kate and Kellyn as I walked into the room. "Oh, Good Morning, Keith. I hope you slept well. I was just telling these two about the slow deciphering of the diary you and Kate recovered yesterday. I would like you go to on patrol as well." She told me.
"Yes ma'am!" The three of us saluted her before going down the escalator.
Kellyn sighed as we walked out of the Union. He yawned. "Well I'm off. See you two later..." He captured a Staraptor before taking off into the sky.
"Don't get killed please!" She jokingly shouted after him.
"No promises!" He laughed before flying off to do quests.
"Well I guess I better get going too." She smiles at me before she stated walking away.
"Kate! Wait! I-I mean... Can I go with you? We have hardly had any time together that hasn't been mission related... At least on Patrol we can talk about stuff..." I smiled meekly.
"Sure. Come on. Let's go." She smiled at me before walking down union road with me. "So what kind of stuff do you want to talk about?"
"I... I want to know what you're keeping from me..." I looked her dead in the eye.
I noticed her freeze up... Maybe... I shouldn't have asked...
Kate POV
"L-Listen... Keith... I'm not going to lie and say I'm not keeping a secret or two... But... I just can't tell you, okay?" I stammered. "Even if I really... really want too."
"What could be so bad that you cant tell me?" He looked at me sorrowfully.
I turned to him and gently took his hand in mine. "It's not anything bad, Keith... It's just a family thing... Something I cant tell anyone..." I looked down. "Professor Hastings found out by accident..."
Keith squeezed my hand. "Kate... You know you can trust me..."
"I know." I felt tears filling my eyes.
I can't explain how much I just want to tell Keith everything. But he'd never believe me. He'd say I'm crazy... just like before... all those years ago during summer vacation.
"Looooo!" Kate! Milotic looked at me.
"Oh Kate... I'm sorry... I-I wont ask anymore. I promise!" I could hear the panic in Keith's voice. "L-Let's change the subject! Uh... um you term 17 in a week or so right? December 1st right?"
"Y-Yeah..." I smiled a bit.
"Have any plans for your birthday?" He questioned.
"Not really." I informed him.
"How about we all head to Pueltown and Nabiki Beach this weekend to celebrate!?" He grinned.
"Haha! Sounds fun!" I laughed. "Can't wait!"
"Well I guess we should get to work!" The red head declared.
I nodded my head. "Yeah!"
The two of us spent the next three hours scouring Almia for anyone in need, completing quests and spending time together, laughing and talking. Something we haven't done in a long time. We soon found ourselves walking into the Union Building and up towards the operation room to tell Erma we were finished with patrol.
We ran up the escalator to find Erma and Hasting discussing something.
"We're finished with Patrol ma'am!" Keith said as we walked up to them.
"Okay, good." Hastings looked at us. "That burned-up diary is proving harder to decipher than expected, it seems. Visit the pair deciphering it in the Research Room, will you? They've been holed up in there too long. I doubt they've slept much, if at all. They would benefit from your words of encouragement." He sighed.
"Ah, yes. Please do visit those two in the Research Room." Erma smiled.
"Alright." Keith nodded his head before leading me down the stairs and towards the Research Room where the poor researchers were working their butts off to decipher the burnt up diary.
I noticed a familiar plump face standing near the back of the Research room staring at the monitors.
"Kate and Keith." Murph whispered to us. "Keep your voices down. No shouting, ever. We do not want to disturb the fellows deciphering that diary." He told us before hiccuping really loudly. "Oh, no, sorry, sorry. That was a hiccup!"
Me and Keith sweatdropped.
"Murph's sunny character uplifts me. He seems to take the edge off of things. Oh, now, what is this? There are some letters starting to emerge on the cover. B-R-I-G-H-T-O-N. Brighton? What do you suppose that could be?" Nage, one of the researcher spoke up.
"Kate!" Murph looked to me with wide eyes. "I've heard of Brighton before! When I first met you! In the lobby of the Altru Building! What was it now? Wait, don't tell me! Was it a new kind of candy? Brighton, Brighton...Was it the name of a new soda? For whitening teeth? You should hustle to the Altru Building, that's what you should do." Murph droned on and on.
"Like Murph said, we might learn something by going to the Altru Building." Keith looked to be before dragging me out of the room.
"Alright... but first. Calypso. Do you think you can go check on Aqua and watch over her while I'm out? I'm sure Aquarius and Hope need a break." I smiled.
"Milooo~" Sure~ She smiled before heading towards the dorms.
"Jet, you go and help her with Aqua." Keith smiled rubbing the Buizel's head.
"Bui! Bui!" Alright! You got it! The Orange Pokemon quickly followed Calypso.
"Well let's get going." I sighed walking down the stairs and out of the Union Building followed by Keith.
The two of us ran towards the Altru Building. Within a matter of minutes we were walking into the lobby of the almost menacing building.
"Welcome to Altru Inc.! Here on the ground floor, we have exhibits on the history of Altru Inc. From the second floor and up, the building is off-limits to the public." The lady behind the desk greeted us.
The two of us explored the lobby of the building until we finally made it to the back wall where a lady employee stood.
"We have over here the portraits of Altru Inc.s presidents through the years." She smiled at us. "At the far left is our founder and first president, Doyle M. Hall. His dream became reality in Altru Inc. In the center is our second president who loved Altru Inc. with all his heart. That would be President Brighton Hall."
"Wait... What?" Keith questioned with wide eyes.
"Should I repeat that? Our second president, Brighton Hall." She repeated.
"Brighton!" Keith's shouted, surprised.
"Yes. It's spelled B-R-I-G-H-T-O-N. Shall I move on? On the right is our current president, Blake Hall. He is a standard-bearer, shaping the very future of the Almia region. A nice round of applause, please! Clap-Clap-Clap. Over three generations of fathers and sons, our presidents have dedicated themselves to the development of energy sources for your bright future." The lady didn't seem very enthused...
Me and Keith faced each other.
"So, that diary was written by Altru's second president, Brighton Hall! Let's go back to the Union!" Keith grabbed me by the hand and we rushed out of the building. However when we walked out of the building we were greeted with the sound of music.
"Huh? Is that music I hear from Altru Park's bandstand? Let's check it out." Keith questioned before leading me down the stairs and towards the Park.
I noticed three white haired people standing on the stage playing music in front of a large group of people. They look really familiar... Wait! Are those the Go-Rock Quads!? Yes! Yes it really is the Go-Rock Quads! I love them! But where's Clyde?
"Pokemon a go-go!" The Go-Rock Quads, or well Trio, sang as they played their instruments.
"From across the sea, the Fiore-born quadruplets have arrived." Garret shouted.
"If you know us, you're a beloved fan!" Tiffany giggled as she played. "You knew us as a criminal quartet then!"
"But that's all in the past! We've had a change of heart and direction! We've transformed into purveyors of theatrical rock!" Billy Smiled.
"What's the name of our band?! Go-Rock Quads! We can't hear you! Go-Rock Quads! Don't be shy! Shout it, loud and proud! GO-ROCK QUADS!" The band shouted.
"Uh, you there! I'm grateful for your contributions to our call-and-response routine, but... We're the Go-Rock Quads. Not Go-Rock Squat! This is only a rehearsal, but please don't mess around during our show." Garret sighed.
"The quadruplet family band, Go-Rock Quads! Four is the magic number for any band!" Tiffany smiled.
"Four instead of three!" Billy spoke up. "Four rather than five!"
The threesome soon finished up their routine before turning to face each other.
"...What do you think about this? We've been stressing how we're quads, and being a four-peice band, and so on... But any which way you look at us, we're a trio, as in only three people." Garret sighed.
"It's because Clyde's gone off somewhere." Tiffany sighed.
"Clyde has some soul-searching to do. He's pulling out his hair over the lyrics for the song we're doing at the event. He flipped out when he saw the lyrics Altru sent for the song. He went off ranting and raging that he couldn't sing this stuff." Billy sighed.
"There's plenty of time before the Altru commemoration event. I wouldn't be too concerned. I wouldn't be too concerned." Garret smiled a bit.
"If Big Bro Clyde doesn't come back, we'll have to change our name. What'll we be? The Go-Rock Trio? The Go-Rock Triplets? Go-Rock Three?" Tiffany sighed.
And with that the crowd dispersed.
"So they're the Go-Rock Quads! I heard rumors about them when I was back in Fiore." Keith looked at the stage.
"I used to have such a huge crush on Billy and Clyde when I was younger~" I giggled.
Keith looked at me. "What really? So you have a thing for white hair? Or is it the whole criminal side?"
I laughed a bit. "I think it has to do with the music~ Not the whole criminal thing! Though I do admit... I've always liked a boy with a bit of a bad side~" I joked winking at him before grinning at him. "Now come on let's get back to the Union and report what he found."
Keith seemed to be zoned out... probably thinking about how I said I have a thing for bad boys!
"Keiiiiith~ Anyone in there?" I waved my hand in front of his face.
"Huh! O-Oh sorry! I was just thinking about something! Come on let's get going!" He shouted before running off.
"Hey! Wait up! Don't leave me behind!" I shouted chasing after him.
The two of us quickly made our way back to the Union and towards the Research Room.
"We know who Brighton is! It's Brighton hall of Altru Inc.!" Keith shouted as we ran into the room.
"Oh, right, yep, I knew that! Brighton's the name of Altru's second president! Yep, yep,yep,yep, yep! Just as I suspected! In other words! That diary is written by none other than Brighton of Altru Inc.! I wonder if there is anything Romantic in there?" Murph grinned when we told him about Brighton Hall.
"What's that. You say?! Brighton is the second president of Altru? Yes, yes, I remember now! That's true! President Brighton Hall was a rather plain and undistinguished man in appearance. I have no idea where he may live now, or indeed, if he is even alive. He's completely slipped my mind. The conclusion we can reach is that the diary was written by President Brighton." Hastings concluded. "Well you two head to go get some dinner and head to bed. It's been a very long day and this Diary could take days to decipher."
"Yes sir!" The two of us saluted him before walking out of the room and walked to the mess hall to get ourselves some dinner before heading towards our rooms.
I stretched as I reached my room. "Well I guess I better check on Aqua. Night Keith."
"Wait, Kate." Keith grabbed my hand.
"Hmm?" I looked up to him.
"W-Would you like to come to my room and watch a movie or something before bed?" He smiled meekly.
"Sure, Keith. You go pick out the movie while I get into my pj's and check on Aqua." I smiled at him before walking into my room. I saw the cutest sight ever as I walked into the room. Jet and Aqua were curled up together with Aquarius and Hope snuggling them with Calypso coiled around them all. "Hehe. Cute."
I grabbed some blue plaid pj pants and an over sized t-shirt and walked into the bathroom. I happily pulled off my uniform and turned on the shower. I quickly showered, scrubbing all the dirt and sweat off my skin from all those quests I did earlier. Once I was clean I threw on my pj's and pulled my hair up in a loose bun before walking out of my room and down to Keith's room.
I knocked on his door.
After a few seconds Keith opened the door with a smile of his face. I blushed a bit when I noticed that he wasn't wearing a shirt.
"So What movie are we going to watch?" I questioned plopping down on his bed.
"I was thinking "Peter Pan", but if you don't want to that's fine..." He blushed a bit.
"Oh I love that movie! I haven't seen it in forever!" I smiled.
"Oh good!" He smiled before turning the movie on and crawling into bed with me.
I snuggled up to him and watched the movie. Soon the scene with the mermaids appears on the screen and I laughed.
"Keith, do you think mermaids exist?" I asked without thinking.
"Hmm... not sure... but over the last few years I've learned that everything is possible... Mom and dad told me that there is no reason to believe something is false just because it can't be proven." He sighed hugging onto me.
"You have some very wise parents~ I believe the same thing. If something can't be proven it doesn't mean it isn't true." I giggled.
"So tell me Kate. Do you believe in Mermaids?" My red headed boyfriend looked at me.
"Yes. I believe mermaids exist. It's a very fun thought, don't you think?" I leaned against him. "So Keith. Tell me, what would you do if I told you that I was a mermaid?"
I was being serious but he thought it was all a joke.
He held onto me. "I'd tell you that I'd like to see the tail~ Oh~ and the Shell bra~" He laughed.
I rolled my eyes. "Oh~ I see~" I laughed.
"Kate...? What happened to that waterstone necklace I gave you?" He Questioned seriously.
"Oh... That..." I sighed... "Jewl... My Staryu... well I guess Starmie.. touched the necklace and evolved after hugging me. I really liked that necklace too..." I grumbled.
"Oh... Okay... I thought you got rid of it because you were mad at me..." He rubbed the back of his head looking a little embarrassed.
"Don't be silly... I love you... And even if what you did irritated me beyond belief... I would never be angry enough to throw away the necklace." I snuggled him.
"I love you too." He smiled warmly before kissing me as the movie played in the background.
I snuggled Keith happily.
Around 30 minutes later the two of us were fast asleep in a very loving embrace...
Yay for actually typing out a chapter~ A long chapter~ Haha~ I have no idea how many chapters this story will be~ but I'm positive that I will finish this story~ 3
