Chapter 25

Kagome's P.O.V.

His eyes lock on mine and before I know he's making his way towards me. Quickly I side-step the dancing people around me and try to camouflage myself with them but nearly everyone is wearing black and I've got a bright red dress on so I stand out like a sore thumb.

I start to do a slight jog towards an open door in hopes I can lock myself in for the rest of the party, or at least until I'm sure he won't see me and then I can catch a cab back home where I'll be safe from that creep. What about Allen? I have to sacrifice him tonight for my own safety.

Something catches my wrist pulling me into their arms. My heart skips a beat as the person who is holding me captive whispers in my ear,

"I've been looking for you all night." Their hot breath sends chills down my back but I relax slightly when I recognise the voice as Allen's. I collapse in his arms, letting him hold me.

"You have no idea how relieved I am to see you," I gush out happily, "I thought you were someone else." He gives me a lopsided smirk.

"And you, have no idea how glad I am to see you." He replies, "Did I mention that you look really hot tonight."

At his slightly slurred words, I realise that he's drunk. Oh perfect. I don't have my driver's license and he's drunk. I guess I'm getting a cab either way. At least Allen lives here.

"Kagome, do you want to dance?" Allen asks with a cheeky smile.

"I'd love too but, do you promise to keep me safe?"

"I'd always keep you safe Kagome."

He drags me through the crowd until we get to the source of the music, which is by the kitchen, I think. The upbeat music gets us jumping as well as everyone around us. Suddenly Allen arms go around my waist causing me to jump in surprise. We move to the music together. A slow song turns on which is a surprise since this is a high school party. My arms move to around his shoulders as we sway softly to the music.

You broke his heart Kagome. If he weren't drunk then he wouldn't be so close to you right now.

Shut up. Just let me enjoy this moment. He will be in my arms again. I swear it. As the music goes on, Allen gets incredibly close to me until our faces are inches away. I am so close I see the small scars and scratches from his own world. I almost forgot that he doesn't come from here. I almost forgot everything that happened down the well. Oh god, I miss Sango and our girly talks. I mis-

Suddenly Allen's lips crash down onto mine interrupting my thoughts. His sweet lips that I've dreamed about are finally on mine. I stop thinking and pour everything I have into this kiss. All the feelings I've felt while he wasn't with me, everything in this one kiss. Heartbreak, love, passion...

Allen finally pulls away as we need to breathe.

"You have no idea how long I've wanted to do that." He whispers with his forehead resting on mine seeming a little bit more sober. As if I woke him from a trance.

"Same."

He rocks me in his arms for a while until he announces that he needs to go to the bathroom and for me to "Stay right here".

I dance to the music by myself for a little while until I go and lean up against a wall. My eyes close and I sway to the music softly. When I open my eyes I jump up in surprise, as someone is standing right in front of me but not whom I want to see.

Max.

His flaming red hair stands up in a high with gel and the usual bandana wraps around it.

"W-What are you doing here?" I ask stuttering in fear.

"I should be asking you that." He says not answering my question. He moves one step closer while I try to distance u s as much as possible except since there's a wall behind me, I'm not having very much luck.

One step closer and we'll have an inch between our noses and I don't like being this close to him anymore.

"I want to say sorry." His alcohol-tainted breath fans out on my face making me cringe in reply.

"For what?" I ask timidly even though I have a very good idea of what it might be.

His palms are flat on the wall right beside my head trapping me from going anywhere.

He leans in and just as I'm sure he's about to kiss me he moves to the right slightly and stopping before my ear.

"You know what." I'm frozen in fear unsure of what to do.

"Just say it."

"I'm sorry for nearly raping you. I want you back." He says quite bluntly. He leans back so he can see my reaction but even though inside I am a blur of emotions on the outside my face is clear of anything that would reveal even one single emotion to him.

"Get away from me." I say far off the topic. A shocked expression is plastered on his face in a matter of seconds.

"B-But baby, didn't you hear what I just said?" He says still close- too close to me.

"And didn't you hear what I said? Get. Away. From. Me. Now." I spit out through gritted teeth. And with his shocked expression comes anger. Just what I need.

"No." That one simple word utters through his pink lips. He leans in closer to me but as soon as he leans in he is pulled back forcefully away from me. I breathe in a deep breath from relief that his presence is no longer surrounding me.

"Didn't you hear what my girl said?" A voice I could recognise from worlds away says. I catch a glimpse of silver hair.

"Allen." I whisper out thankfully. He came to save just in time. His hand is gripped onto Max's collar. I look at Max's face seeing a mixture of anger, shock and fear. Fear. That's one emotion I never expected to see coming from him.

Slowly I tear my gaze from Max and up to Allen's. There he is, on the opposite side of the room coming out from the bathroom running towards me with a look of worry on his face. Wait, what? If he's over there… then who's my saviour? My eyes nervously make their way up to the strangers face except when I see who it is my heart nearly stops from the surprise and strange emotions coming back when I see him. He's no stranger. The one person I least saw coming to my rescue is standing right before me with his golden eyes staring intensely right back at me.

My former lover.

Okay, I was going to post this chapter earlier but then I got grounded and I'm still grounded but I will try to update more more often and I will hopefully get the next chapter up not too long after my grounding is over.
