Chapter Twenty Five: Hogsmeade Weekend
All the Third Years could barely wait for the first Hogsmeade weekend, as it would be the first time that they would be able to leave the castle to visit the small wizarding village. In Hogwarts, only students in Third Year and above could visit the village of Hogsmeade on alternate weekends, and that is only if they got permission from their guardians or parents.
The younger students have often heard stories from the older students whenever they returned from a Hogsmeade trip how beautiful the village is, what they could do there, and even how fun it is. A few of the more generous students sometimes brought back sweets from the sweets' shop in Hogsmeade for the younger students.
Hence, when the day for the first Hogsmeade weekend rolled around, it is all that the Third Years could talk about the moment that they opened their eyes. Even as they sat at the Ravenclaw table that day for breakfast, Hermione and Padma had started talking excitedly amongst themselves, mentally making up a list of places to visit—including Madam Puddifoots, much to the boys' horror and Hilda's amusement.
Madam Puddifoots had been a popular hangout for the couples in Hogwarts, especially during the week for Valentine's Day, as the layout of the café is designed in a way to suit couples—with couple seating. Even the drinks and meals on the menu were designed in a way for couples, with the 'Lovers' Straw' for drinks.
Needless to say, most boys usually tend to avoid it like the plague. Most of the Sixth and Seventh Years however tend to spend their Hogsmeade weekends in there with their girlfriends or boyfriends.
Cho Chang had even mentioned casually to Hilda that a Ravenclaw boy in her year that she had a crush on, Daniel Robins, had asked her out to Madam Puddifoots for the Hogsmeade weekend. The Asian girl had also hoped that Daniel might confess. And honestly, Hilda do believe that Cho and Daniel might come back from Hogsmeade as girlfriend and boyfriend if the smitten looks that Daniel had given Cho is of any indication.
Sirius however had told Hilda and her friends to meet him at the Three Broomsticks that night during their Hogsmeade visit under the guise of helping Professor Flitwick to collect all the Hogsmeade forms from the few Ravenclaws that hadn't turned in their forms yet at breakfast.
The Heads of Houses from Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin have even called for a house meeting the previous night just after curfew. All three professors have strictly told their students—especially the Third Years that they wouldn't beget them from getting sweets, but they are not to gorge themselves silly, and are also expected to eat a decent meal in Hogsmeade, as dinner wouldn't be served to the older years who have gone to the village of Hogsmeade.
According to Cedric however, Professors Flitwick, Sprout and Snape usually held house meetings the night before a Hogsmeade trip every single year for all students in Third Year and above as a constant reminder to not gorge themselves silly on sweets, especially during Halloween week. To his knowledge however, it is only Gryffindor House that doesn't have this 'reminder', much to Cedric's confusion, as that House is the most rowdy, and also the one most known for making themselves sick on sweets, especially during Halloween.
Though as Hilda had bluntly pointed out after Cedric had voiced it out, she had said that better that entire House get sick on sweets—thus, they would leave her alone. Draco had almost choked on his porridge, and Neville almost snorted half his pumpkin juice up his nose when they have heard that.
Sometimes, Hilda could be more sadistic than anyone they knew.
Hilda's vampiric urges have also been kept to a level where she could control it, though for safety reasons, she still kept vials of the potion on her person. Professor Flitwick and Sirius are the only ones apart from Snape who actually knew about Hilda's 'condition' that had actually caused her to take temporary leave from her classes for the past week.
After all, chances are that if news that 'Hilda couldn't control her vampiric urges any longer' reaches the ears of the Ministry or even Dumbledore, Aurors will be marching to Hogwarts before they even knew what is happening, and then, they'll be extremely lucky if the vampires don't start a war with them for hurting one of their own.
At 4PM that evening, all the older students have headed down to the Great Hall excitedly, all bundled in their coats and scarves where Professor McGonagall as the Deputy Headmistress was checking off the names of the students on a list of parchment that she had in her hand.
The cat Animagus actually eyed Hilda suspiciously when it is the turn of the Ravenclaw Third Years, and took longer than normal to check Hilda's permission slip. It is only with great reluctance that she finally allowed Hilda and the rest of the Ravenclaw Third Years to head to Hogsmeade, much to the annoyance of Hilda's housemates who knew exactly why the Deputy Headmistress had taken such a long time to check Hilda's permission slip.
Hermione barely managed to hide her smile when Terry Boot and Anthony Goldstein who were in front of them complained loudly about the stupidity of the adults and even some of the professors, citing Gilderoy Lockhart as an example. Padma even stated that she could have sworn that she saw a tick above McGonagall's temple as the Ravenclaw Third Years headed down the path towards Hogsmeade.
"McGonagall too, huh?" Jasper said almost sadly when Hilda and her friends caught up to Jasper and Cedric who were both waiting for them halfway down the route to Hogsmeade. Clearly, some of the older Ravenclaws must have been complaining about the holdup, and the two Fifth Year Hufflepuffs have overheard their complaints.
While Hilda isn't exactly the so-called 'belle' of the school, she is likeable by three out of four houses in Hogwarts, and those few that detested her thanks to her vampire status knew better than to state their opinions especially after a very thorough verbal and physical beating performed on a group of students by a very annoyed and furious Marcus Flint and his friends when they've overheard that group of idiots talking loudly about how a filthy half-blood with vampire blood shouldn't even be allowed into a place where civilised people studies.
"And here I thought that she had always been fair and impartial." Cedric snorted, not feeling all that impressed with the usual strict Transfiguration professor. "And then again, she is Professor Dumbledore's wingman, so what do I expect?"
Hilda sighed and exchanged looks with Draco who knew the look that Hilda had on her face. "Look, let's stop talking about it." Draco interrupted. "All of us knew what Hilda had been put through by nearly half the students in the school, and even several of the professors for the past few years anyway. It is nothing new to us. Let's talk about something else."
"Well, we would be going off on our own for a while." Cedric interrupted with a gentle smile, looking at Hilda who smiled back. Neither one missed the sly looks on the faces of their friends as they did so. "Let's meet up at Three Broomsticks at 8PM." He suggested.
"Sounds good to me." Neville shrugged even as they arrived at the entrance of the village. "Oh. Wow." Whatever that he wanted to say slipped from his mind as the five Third Years got their first look at the small wizarding village.
"Yeah." Hermione nodded in a daze.
The small wizarding village of Hogsmeade is without a doubt, beautiful. There were several glowing orbs of light all over the village—giving it an almost mystical feel. There were also several shops lined up together, with people chatting away happily as they went about shopping for their wares.
"It reminds me of Avalon." Hilda admitted even as they took their separate ways, and she and Cedric walked together, viewing the sights, walking close enough together that their hands were almost bumping against each other. "Or even Alsace."
"What are those places?" Cedric asked curiously, even as the pair entered Scrivenshaft's Quill Shop to stock up on their parchment and quills. There were several Hogwarts students in the shop too, thus, no one paid any attention to them even as they browsed the shelves for the items that they need.
"Avalon is the land of the elves. It is hidden, so you can only find it if they let you, and if you are a trusted friend of theirs." Hilda replied absently as she took several packs of parchment along with several quills and various ink bottles. "Alsace is the capital city of the vampires—located near Silverstein territory as it is the place where the vampire lords normally assemble to have their meetings. Those two places are beautiful—no other place could compare to it."
"I need to see those places for myself one day if it is indeed as you've said." Cedric mused even as they paid for their purchases and left the shop, with a bell tinkling somewhere behind them as they did so.
Hilda gave him an odd look. "Maybe," she murmured.
Their next stop was Honeydukes, the sweets shop that is popular with Hogwarts students. Cedric usually made it a point to buy some sweets back for the younger years who couldn't get to go to Hogsmeade yet. During Hilda's first and second years, she and her friends were often given sweets by Cedric when he and Jasper went to Hogsmeade during alternate weekends.
The sweets shop is literally a candy paradise, stocking sweets and candies of all kinds. Cedric bought a little of everything, saying that they could enjoy it the next day. As Sundays are usually considered rest days for the entire school—professors included, Hilda and her friends generally tend to spend it by the Black Lake talking about nothing in particular, also often having picnics outside when the weather is still nice enough. The only sweets that the dhampir had bought had just been a large box of Blood Pops and a small selection of chocolates.
They also popped by Gladrags Wizardwear, the local apparel shop for Hilda to find a few Christmas presents for Ethan, Eric, Elton, Jessica, Sirius and even Remus. As she liked to shop for her Christmas presents early so she wouldn't get caught up in the rush of the Christmas craziness as what Hilda like to call it, over time, Hilda's friends started developing this habit too.
The two even stopped by the local gift shop for further Christmas shopping. Cedric found a beautiful pendant that he particularly liked that he thinks a certain raven haired dhampir might like, and secretly made an advance order with the shopkeeper whilst Hilda was busy browsing.
Cedric and Hilda even ended up visiting the Shrieking Shack, after all the stories that Sirius and Remus had told. Of course, Hilda wasn't too pleased with the prank that Sirius had played on Severus when they were sixteen, and the Potions Master had nearly walked into a room where a werewolf is. It actually helps that Sirius had apologised to Severus over and over after Hilda had ripped into him for his behaviour.
"Shouldn't we be going?" Cedric asked at last after about ten minutes of staring at the Shrieking Shack at the top of the hill. It really does look haunted and even cursed, with the place looking as if it is about to fall apart at any moment now. "Professor Black wants to meet us at the Three Broomsticks, right?"
Hilda barely managed a smile as she heard Cedric say 'Professor Black'. Sirius had insisted on the kids addressing him by name when they're not in class, as addressing him as 'Professor' makes him feel old.
Sirius' stint as Defence Professor had been highly successful, as unlike Lockhart and even Quirrell from the year before, Sirius is a very hands-on teacher. In fact, the homework that he usually assigned is research on how a certain spell is performed, and the effects. Unlike Remus who is an expert on magical creatures and all that, Sirius is better at hexes and spells—hence why Cedric and Jasper had been scoring constant O's in their DADA lessons ever since they've started asking Sirius for tips during one of their 'unofficial' tutoring sessions during the holidays.
The upper years were delighted with their lesson plans after hearing that they would be learning about hexes and spells and the effects, and even how the spell was even invented in the first place. Some of the spells, some of the Gryffindors had tried to protest were 'dark spells', but were shot down by Sirius stating that no spell is 'dark' or 'light'. It really depends on how the wizard uses them. Ironically, that had been what Alastor Moody had told Sirius when he was training to be an Auror, and thus, even Dumbledore could say nothing. Several of the upper years have even begged Sirius, asking him to reconsider staying on as Defense professor after this year as he is by far the best DADA professor that they ever got.
Hilda nodded. "Yeah."
XXXXXX
The Three Broomsticks had been a popular hangout for Hogwarts students during their Hogsmeade weekends, as compared to the Hog's Head. Thus, when Hilda and Cedric both entered, they weren't surprised to see that every table was full.
The owner, a pretty woman with curly brunette hair by the name of Madam Rosmerta approached them, apparently expecting them, as she is quick to show the pair to the back where there are a few private rooms. Sirius and the rest of their friends were already in the room that Madam Rosmerta had showed Hilda and Cedric to, clearly waiting for them.
"You're late." Draco frowned.
"Sorry." Cedric chuckled as they shed their coats and sat down on the couches even as a waiter came in with glasses of Butterbeer and a few snacks.
"I'll leave you to it." Madam Rosmerta told Sirius with a smile. "By the way, Rita Skeeter has been snooping around, Sirius. Just thought that you should know."
Sirius groaned, putting his head into his hands before he looked up at Madam Rosmerta once again. "Okay. Thanks, Rosmerta," he said before the woman smiled and closed the door behind her.
"Rita Skeeter?" Hilda raised a brow. She is unfortunately quite familiar with that name by this point, as that nasty reporter had written a rather nasty article on Starlight's Hall the year before she is due to start at Hogwarts. She never made that mistake again after Jessica had cornered her. Nothing deters a reporter and her nasty quill more than an angry vampire.
"She's been after me for an interview ever since my release." Sirius admitted even as the kids took a glass of Butterbeer for themselves, with the drink warming them up easily.
"This is definitely what we needed." Neville sighed in relief, causing his friends to laugh. "The upper years said that Third Year is going to be tough, but I didn't think that it will be this tough."
As one, all of them glanced at Hermione who had been looking really pale and tired, with just how little sleep that she had gotten—due to the amount of homework that she had with the number of electives that she had taken. Even some of the teachers were getting worried, and Professor Flitwick had been trying to convince her to drop some of her electives, but to no avail. He might be better off speaking to a brick wall.
"Anyway…" Hilda turned towards her godfather who looked more relaxed than she had ever seen him when he is up at Hogwarts. And of course. After all, it can't be easy being under Dumbledore's eye all the time, especially with how suspicious that the old coot had been getting with just how much time that Sirius had been spending with her. "What is this regarding, Sirius?"
Sirius sighed before looking at the students around him. As one, they looked back at him, sensing that this is going to be a serious talk. "I couldn't tell you this at the school, as there are too many ears." Sirius begun. He then reached into the small bag by his side and brought out a crumpled newspaper that looked to be several weeks old by this point, spreading it out onto the surface of the table. It had a picture of a certain redheaded family on the front page of the newspaper.
There was silence for several moments as the seven teens stared down at the newspaper. Finally, Hilda looked back at her godfather in confusion. "Exactly what are we supposed to be looking at?" she asked in complete confusion. The expressions on the faces of her friends reflected Hilda's thoughts.
Sirius almost smacked himself in the head. Right. He had to explain this. Only Hilda, Cedric and Draco knew about Sirius being an Animagus, and that Remus is a werewolf. Strangely, for children being brought up in wizarding families, Cedric, Draco, Neville and Padma have never feared Remus. It could be due to the fact that Cedric, Neville and Padma's parents have met Remus in the past, and have even attended school with him. Or rather, Padma's father is pretty open minded, but her mother isn't.
Honestly, Sirius is starting to wonder why one twin is so close-minded and petty, whilst the other isn't. How could two girls—twins sharing the same DNA furthermore be brought up in the same household, and yet be so different from each other?
Sirius sighed. "All of you know of my trial two years ago, right?" he asked at last, looking from face to face, and he received nods.
Hilda, Cedric and Draco who have been at his trial with Remus and Ethan two years ago have filled the rest of their friends in about the trial. None of them have said anything as Sirius being in Azkaban isn't something that they liked to think about—not with him being so much of a father or even a honorary uncle to them. It had also been Sirius who had convinced Augusta Longbottom to allow Neville his own wand after he had found out that the kid had been using Frank's wand to honour him. The once strict witch had also mellowed out after adopting Luna, and seeing her grandson being so confident and growing in his own power with friends that he could trust.
"Yeah. You and all your old school friends were Animagus." Draco stated, remembering what he'd witnessed at the trial. "It is to help Remus once a month when he is a werewolf when you were still in school."
Not that Remus really needed Sirius to be around anymore during the full month. Once a month, Remus usually gets a free room in Starlight's Hall during the full moon and could change in peace without fearing that he would hurt anyone. That is why Starlight's Hall is such a blessing to everyone—the werewolves who feared hurting others especially. The Ministry might complain, but no one could deny that Starlight's Hall's existence is a bonus rather than a boon. Hence why Amelia Bones, Lucius Malfoy, Amos Diggory and even Hayden Patil have continued supporting the existence of the vampire-run bar despite the protests of the Minister and his toad of an Undersecretary and her continuous tries at anti-human campaigns only to be blocked by Amelia Bones, Lucius Malfoy and Amos Diggory at every turn.
Sirius sighed. "You know that it is Peter Pettigrew, aka Wormtail who had betrayed us, right?" he asked. "And even old Tom." He received nods. "What we didn't tell you is his Animagus form. His form is a rat Animagus."
Understanding dawned in Hilda's eyes almost immediately, along with Cedric and Draco. It took the others a little longer to understand however. And as one, they looked back down at the picture of the Weasley family on the front of the Daily Prophet.
"I see…" Cedric mused, biting on the tip of his thumb. "So he had been posing as a pet rat for all these years." He murmured. "If I recall, Percy Weasley had a rat as a pet when we first got into Hogwarts." He gestured towards Jasper and himself—the former who nodded solemnly. After all, a rat is a pretty unusual animal for a pet, thus why Cedric and Jasper remembered it so well. "Also, after Percy got his owl when he became a Prefect, that rat was then passed down to his youngest brother. Is Peter Pettigrew that rat?"
"Yes." Sirius nodded tiredly. "Remus and myself figured it out the moment that we saw this article. We both recognised him immediately—after all, how many times have we seen him transform? Also, as there is no way that we're alerting Dumbledore of this, my mind has drawn a complete blank as to how I'm going to reveal Peter. I thought that you kids might have some ideas."
There was silence for several moments as the seven teens tried to think of a plan. Hilda meanwhile was racking her brains for some idea, any idea at all whilst trying to contemplate the facts as it is.
So Peter Pettigrew is a rat Animagus. And he is currently posing as that Weasley boy's pet rat. Honestly, not for the first time, Hilda is silently questioning the sanity and even the intelligence of the wizarding community. How can anyone not be suspicious with the astonishingly long lifespan of a mere garden rat?
The only class in Hogwarts that actually involves the students casting spells on an actual animal is Transfiguration. And the spell that changes an animal into an object is covered in Second Year, which would later be tested in Fifth Year for their OWL. No other spells covered in Transfiguration class actually involves casting a spell directly on an animal unless…
Hilda's eyes widened, and she then looked sharply at Cedric and Jasper who seemed bewildered and taken aback by the expression on Hilda's face.
"You seem to have thought of something." Sirius commented, eyeing Hilda.
"I doubt that most of the Third Years knew about it, but I actually looked up the Transfiguration lesson plan for the Third Years this year—especially when I have to take leave from lessons for nearly a week." Hilda said slowly, looking from face to face. "McGonagall is going to cover Animagus transformation for Transfiguration class next month. It is going to be one of the questions for the end-of-year exams. She had mentioned it at the end of last year."
Cedric felt like hitting himself. He had almost forgotten that Transfiguration class covers the Animagus transformation in Third Year. It is one of the more popular topics in Transfiguration, as who wouldn't want to be able to transform into an animal? It is only the theory that would be covered in Third Year however, as Animagus transformation is NEWT level, and not to mention that human transfiguration is also Seventh Year material at least. However, the Animagus revealing spell is also taught in Third Year.
"That's right…!" Jasper snapped his fingers. "I've almost forgotten about it! McGonagall even made our entire class write an eight foot long essay on Animagus transformation and what we know about it."
"Animagus Revello is also taught in Third Year." Cedric said slowly. "The colour of the glow surrounding the animal changes depending on if they are an Animagus or not. If it's a real animal, it glows blue. An Animagus – red, and it also forces them back to their human form. Also, McGonagall usually likes to perform hands-on transformation for lessons like that."
"And right now, apart from Professor McGonagall, Sirius is the only known Animagus who is also a professor in Hogwarts." Padma concluded, understanding Hilda's plan now. "Chances are that she would bring him in for a demonstration."
Draco then frowned. "Doesn't Weasley bring his pet rat with him everywhere now?" he asked, directing this question to Hilda.
The dhampir nodded. "Yes. Especially after Crookshanks almost mauled his pet rat last year," she said. "Now I understand why." Hilda sighed. "I did feel from day one that something about that rat is off, but I didn't think that it is because he isn't a rat to begin with!" Hilda narrowed her eyes dangerously. Now she understands why the scent around that rat is a little off—not like how a proper rat would smell. "Also, Crookshanks is half-Kneazle. If so, he probably knew that the rat is no rat. Kneazles are highly intelligent creatures, and Crookshanks is one of the smartest cats that I've ever seen."
Hermione looked almost proud at this praise to her cat.
"You should have just let Crookshanks eat that rat last year, Hermione." Neville muttered darkly. "He deserves it anyway."
Hilda coughed to disguise her laughter, but the rest of her friends aren't so polite, and broke into giggles and chuckles, breaking the suddenly tense atmosphere. "Anyway, back to topic," she said. "Who has Transfiguration with the Gryffindors this year?"
"I do." Draco answered promptly.
"Draco, you know what to do?" Sirius asked his younger cousin, and the blonde nodded.
"Yes. Leave it to me."
"Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff both have a free period when Draco has Transfiguration on Wednesday mornings." Hilda said slowly, trying to remember the timetables that were given out on the first day of lessons. The benefits of having a vampire memory. "We'll be nearby in case something happens."
"It's the best plan we've got, I guess." Hermione mused.
"Is that all, Sirius?" Hilda asked her godfather, and much to her surprise, he shook his head.
"There is one other thing. But it's more personal." Sirius said heavily. He then reached into the small bag by his side once more and drew out a single roll of parchment, handing it to Hilda who took it curiously. "Remus and I debated for long hours whether we should tell you or not, but in the end, we decided that it is your decision." Sirius said seriously, looking into Hilda's eyes. "On the day when you left for Hogwarts, Remus received a letter. It is from Harold Potter, your grandfather."
Hilda's eyes widened.
The rest of her friends wisely stayed silent, knowing this to be a family affair. Sure, they knew that Hilda is the Hilda Potter. But as she acted so different from how everyone expects the saviour of the wizarding world to act, it is so much easier to think that Hilda isn't really Hilda Potter at all.
"He had wanted to take you into his custody after the entire fiasco during Halloween." Sirius explained. "But Dumbledore happened." He barely restrained a flinch at the look in Hilda's eyes. Oh dear Merlin… If Hilda doesn't like Dumbledore before, she is downright pissed with the old man now! "Mr Potter totally flipped when Dumbledore refuses to give you to him—his own flesh and blood. And when 'Hilda Potter' had gone missing nearly eight years ago, he started searching for her. Even when everyone in the wizarding world had believed that she had died, he refused to give up. He had probably travelled half the world by this point, trying to find his granddaughter." Sirius felt almost awkward at talking about 'Hilda Potter' in the third person. "Remus and myself… We can't live with the guilt anymore. Mr Potter is getting on in years, Hilda. He doesn't have long left. At the very least, we want to grant him his final wish—to let him meet the only family that he got left, and for him to walk her down the aisle one day—to give her away to the man who would one day protect her for her entire life."
No one noticed the slight shift that Cedric made with Sirius' words.
Draco looked at Hilda carefully. He knew even before the others knew—that his best childhood friend is also Hilda Potter. But he had grown up with her, and knew Hilda as the person that she really is. She had even said once that while James and Lily Potter might biologically be her parents, she feels no love for them, as she had never met them, and they have never raised her or showed her what love is. Her family is the Nightwing clan—one of the ruling vampire clans. It had been difficult for Remus and even Sirius to accept it in the beginning, but they did in the end. Sometimes, it is even easier to think of Hilda Potter and Hilda 'Evans' as different people.
"Have you told Ethan about this?" Draco asked his cousin.
Sirius nodded solemnly. "Remus did," he replied. "Ethan even told us that whether we should tell Mr Potter or not, and if Hilda would like to meet him… It will be her decision." He looked at Hilda nervously. "Mr Potter isn't a bad man, Hilda." He said gently. "Unlike most wizards, he had never discriminated against the non-humans. He had been the Head Auror when we were still in school, and had even trained people like Alastor Moody and Kingsley Shacklebolt to be the Aurors that they are today. He even trained Amelia Bones when she had still been an active Auror before she was promoted to be the Head of the Magical Law Enforcement. He wouldn't mind who you had been living with, and even your vampire blood. He wouldn't care. You're still you—that's what he would say. He said the same thing too our Second Year when we've finally told Mr and Mrs Potter about Remus' little furry problem."
Cedric looked at Hilda with concern. She looked as if she is on the verge of having a panic attack. And honestly, he can't really blame her. All her life, Hilda had only known Ethan, Eric and Elton as her family, and even Jessica as some sort of older sister figure. It is only later when she'd started at Hogwarts that Sirius, Remus, Snape and even Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy were added to her list of 'family members'.
Now Sirius is telling her that she still had someone left from her original blood family when she had still been fully human—someone who had actually wanted her; someone who wanted to raise her, but was thwarted from doing so due to the manipulations of an old man?
…Cedric made a mental note to keep an extra close eye on Hilda during the coming weeks so that she doesn't snap and decide to kill their Headmaster.
"What are you going to do, Hilda?" Hermione asked at last, nudging her best friend gently in the side.
"…From Light to Night…" Hilda murmured beneath her breath, much to everyone's confusion. Finally, she looked at Sirius in the eye. "…Let me think about it?"
A/N: I've been on a roll updating this story lately! But whatever. I seriously doubt that anyone is complaining about the faster than normal updates for this story. Also, about the McGonagall portrayal in this story, yes, I like Professor McGonagall as much as you do, but with how close that she had been to Dumbledore, it is very difficult for me to portray her in a less than positive light, especially when it comes to Hilda. Unlike canon, Hilda isn't in her House, so she wouldn't know Hilda outside of Transfiguration classes. The only things that she would hear about Hilda mainly comes from Dumbledore, as Flitwick doesn't seem the type to talk about his students outside of classes and exams.
