A/N Hey I'm so glad you guys enjoyed my last chapter and I promise I'm going to try to fit some Zammie in somewhere around here, but forgive me if it doesn't come till next chapter. Anyways Thank yous at the bottom.
:)(: Previously :)(:
Bex's POV
"Boss Lady has a message for you." I say cutting Damien off. Grim nods and grabs the message from my hands. His eyes scan the page and a smile lights up his still boyish face.
"Cammie." He breaths so low I almost don't hear it.
Wait WHAT!
Cammie's POV
"What is taking her so long?" I say as I pace. They've been gone for twenty minutes and I am worried out of my mind. Maybe this Grim character isn't as good as I thought.
"Kat, relax. She's fine." Mace says as she texts on her phone. Suddenly my phone vibrates. I look down at the screen to see it was Macey who texted me.
To Cam- How did you say she was going to contact you?-Grace
To Mace- Coms, why?-Kat
To Cam- Girl you aren't wearing any coms unless you secretly put them in while I wasn't looking.-Grace
I reach up to my ear and feel no coms. Oh sh*t.
To Mace- I don't normally where coms so I didn't really think about it.-Kat
To Cam- Excuses, excuses… now put your coms in.-Grace
I nod and head to the bathroom. I walk into one of the stalls just in case before slipping in my coms and flipping it to the right channel. As soon as I do I hear a sigh of relief on the other end. "Boss Lady? You good?" I pause for a second after hearing that trying not to chuckle. Boss Lady? I like the sound of that.
"Yes Beatrice I am fine." I hear a huff on the other end of the coms and have to laugh. Bex hates her alias.
"Good. Mr. Grim here has accepted your request for a meeting. Damian and I will be back in a moment to escort you to his office."
"Alright thank you very much Beatrice. Grace and I'll be in the same place."
"'Course Boss Lady see you then." With that her coms cut off and I sighed in relief that I was in the bathroom for that conversation. I head back to Macey and I's spot and she gives me a questioning look. I nod my head and she smiles getting my meaning. Yay conversations without words. That's a huge step forward. I thought communicating without words was reserved for lovers. Right because that makes sense, me and Mace are secret lovers. I never said that. Mmm Hmm. That's why you should just keep your mouth shut. You started it. Did not. Did to. Did not. Did to. Did not.
I groan placing my head in my hands. "You okay, Kat?" Mace asks.
I nod. "Yeah the voices are just seriously annoying me."
"Um voices?" Her voice turns into a whisper "You mean the coms?"
I frown and shake my head. "No the voices. You know the badass one and the goody two shoes." She stares at me blankly. "Umm… ones all for living in the moment the others all for being organized and planned out." She continues to stare at me. "One is Liz the other is Bex."
"Girl I get how your voices act, I guess, but the thing I'm struggling with is the fact you hear voices."
"Look I know it's not normal per say but it's me and-"
"Girl I'm sorry but lets not get into this right now. We're dealing with enough of your problems as it is." Hey! We are not problems! I take offense to that.
"Great Grace now they're all pissed at you."
"Hey fine by me."
GRIM's POV:
I shift uneasily as I wait for Cammie to arrive. What will she think? Will she call me a liar? Or say I'm crazy. I mean I wouldn't believe her if out of the blue she told me… you know… that.
"Come on Dude? What's up? None of the jobs you've done before has gotten you're panties in such a twist."
"Well Riley none of my previous jobs have been for my sister." Yeah that's right. My name is George Richard Ian Morgan. G.R.I.M. My sister supposedly called me Georgie, or at least that's what Riley says. He's and an amazing strategist, He's also been my best friend since before I can even remember. If all agents didn't have a good memory then Riley probably wouldn't be able to tell me anything at all about my sister. But it's hard to forget the day you nearly died.
From what he tells me it went like this.
:)(: Flashbackish thing 3rd POV :)(:
A five year old boy sits at the edge of a hotel bed playing a hacking game his father had got him for his birthday. The father walks over to the boy and pats his head affectionately. "Very good Riley. You'll be a good asset for the Russians when you reach your time."
"I still don't see why we couldn't have left him at home, Ian." The mother says to her tall dark haired, light skinned husband.
The father once again smiles down at the boy. "My father brought me to my first conference when I was five. I wanted to do the same for him." Seeing her husband's fondness for their son the mother relents smiling softly.
"Fine, Ian. Fine." The man grins triumphantly and holds his arm out for his wife. She gracefully does so giving one more longing look to the boy.
"The maids promised to be here in a minute, but dear we really ought to go or we are going to be late." Ian tells his wife smiling at the look she was giving their son.
"Okay, only a minute?"
"Yes my dear, only a minute." With that the couple gracefully exited the room. The boy continues to play his game barely noticing his parents' absence. Time passed and the maids did not arrive, but someone else did.
The window on their twelfth floor room quietly opened and a girl of eight years age followed just as quietly. "Okay Steph we're nearly ready," the young girl with the dirty blond hair said. "Mr. and Mrs. Bilinskii have left their room and-" The girl pauses, "Steph do Mr. and Mrs. Bilinskii have a son?"
"Yes," Stephanie replied from the coms, "A five year old son named Riley, why?"
"Did they bring him to the conference?"
"I don't know does it matter?" Steph asked.
"Yes, Steph! Of course it matters!"
"Look I don't know what this is all about but we need to release the poison from the vents NOW." Steph tells the girl.
"Wait I need to get something." The girl comes fully into the room, Riley's eyes following her as she scurried about opening drawers and such.
"What are you looking for?" The young boy asked.
"A computer," The girl says.
"Like daddy's?"
"Exactly like that." She says her eyes twinkling.
"He doesn't want anyone to see his computer." She sighs and turns back to the desk.
"It'll be our little secret." She tells him and he grins.
"My names Riley." He mutters shyly.
"I'm Cammie."
"Well daddy keeps his laptop in a big case under the bed. Does this mean we are friends now?" Cammie was already under the bed grabbing the brief case. The coms crackled to life once again when she got back out.
"Chameleon, you need to be out now." Steph said over the coms with authority.
"Give me a minute," The girl snapped.
"I'll give you thirty seconds." Cammie turns to Riley.
"Yes we are friends now. And please you- you HAVE to come with me. Okay?" She shook her head feeling as though she didn't want one more life, and a child's life at that on her conscience.
"Why? Can mommy and daddy come with?"
"No Riley, but we're friends. Trust me."
"But mommy said, don't trust strangers." Riley says staring at her defiantly.
"Look Chameleon, I am releasing the gas and flames with or without you out right now. Because if we don't do it now we'll never get another chance."
"Riley now." Cammie snapped grabbing his arm and he tugged against her.
"No! Stop it! I don't want to leave!" The boy said pulling against her with all her strength and though she knew it was for the best she felt sadness pit in her stomach for taking this boy, only three years younger than her, away. But she would not stop.
Still keeping a good hold on him she attached her harness to the wire hanging outside the window. She pulled him out the window and into the air with her. He finally stopped struggling because the only thing between him and falling was her grip. But it held steady, not once faltering or shaking.
Cammie shifted Riley so he was gripping her, hands around the neck and feet wrapped around her waist. "Hold on." She whispered before tugging at the wire until it released the break setting then they were zipping down the wire moving fast towards the ground. He buried his face into her neck scared to see them crash but one of her gloved hands reached up and pushed down a switch that scraped against the wire slowing them as they went. Finally she slowed the enough to flick on the actual breaks leaving the suspended about three feet above the ground.
Pulling out a knife from her belt she quickly sawed away the wire and they fell to the ground. Riley's grip loosened and Cammie pulled him tighter against herself as she ducked and ran a few paces away. She ran faster as she heard a bang. It was the hotel. Going up in flames. Finally when she felt they were far enough away she let him down.
She looked down at him a look of pity in her eyes and he felt a tear run down his face. She didn't want to hurt him, yet to him she did. "I thought you said we were friends." He said now sobbing. She sighed and went as if to give him a hug but he backed away. "I thought… I thought…"
"I did and we are. That's why I did what I did." Cammie said softly but got no response. With a sigh she grabbed his hand and started walking tugging him along, not meanly just insistently, in the direction of the meeting spot. When she finally arrived there standing in a line were five of the most intimidating Circle agents. And right in the middle of them was Stephanie.
"Where the hell have you been? You almost blew the mission you little brat-!" She pauses when she sees Riley. "What. Is. That?"
"This is a child Stephanie. I know you wouldn't recognize one since you seemed to have skipped your childhood but I promise you they exist-" Cammie said cheekily.
"SHUT UP!" screamed Stephanie causing Riley to shake, his parents never screamed, he thought to himself, "I know what a child is. What I want to know why you have one!"
"I don't answer to you." Cammie said stonily.
"Oh yes you do. I'm the one in charge of this mission and I-" Cammie snorts.
"Oh come on Steph we all know you got this is a pity mission. You just aren't up to your old standers anymore." Cammie says with a sneer turning away.
"Why you!" Stephanie says stalking up to Cammie. She backhands Cammie hard across the face causing Cammie's head to snap to the side. "This mission was given to me by Catherine herself and it is NO pity mission." She looks down at the little girl with the red cheek holding the shaking boy behind her. "Just because of that, that boy will die."
With a scream of rage Cammie lets go of Riley and shoves hard against Stephanie. "NO! No, no, no, no, no! You will not!" She screams hitting slapping and kicking Stephanie anywhere she can. Until Stephanie is curled up on the ground and she is just letting off steam.
Finally she pulls back hair hanging in her eyes with a feral look about her and whispers. "You say he will die but I tell you now the first person to touch him will not only be tortured before I kill them, but their family, friends, everybody they ever knew, will be dead as well." With that she turns away leaving four shocked agents and one bruised and battered General. She takes one look at Riley and completely deflates. She takes his hand softly and walks with him to a wooded area. Until they find a log where she can sit down… and sob.
Riley didn't know what to do, he was confused by his friend who seemed to have mood swings and finally couldn't help it and started to cry too. It seemed to go on like that for hours. Him and her both crying, together but apart. Finally her sniffles came to a stop and she pulled him closer as they sat and laid her cheek against his head.
"Sorry," she whispered.
"You have a booboo." Riley told her as he stared at her bruised knuckles. "Want a Band-Aid?" Staring at her knuckles Cammie did want a Band-Aid but instead she shook her head.
"Neh, I have a lot of booboos and it wouldn't be fair if these got one and the others didn't." Riley nodded, but he wasn't satisfied with the answer.
:)(: Flashbackish thing ended back to GRIM's POV :)(:
I take a gasp as I surface back from the story. As Riley always tells me they talked all night. Well until he fell asleep and she didn't answer many questions about herself but she talked about me non-stop.
Sisters.
"Dude, you good?" Riley asked looking pretty concerned. I shook my head.
"Yeah I'm cool."
"Good 'cause they're here."
"How long have they been here?" I ask. I've been known to go into these flashback things where I'm untouchable for hours.
"Just a few minutes. I told Damien to tell them you were getting your stuff together."
"You didn't greet them?"
"I-I was concerned about you… and ya know. Cammie seeing me. I haven't seen her for what nine years? I mean what would she say?"
"I don't know." I say with a hair flip. "Let's go find out."
Cammie's POV
I stare at the door waiting for it to open. "Cam are you okay?" Bex asks softly. "You looked a little stressed."
"I'm fine." I mutter and the door softly creeks open. Two boys step out and yes I do mean boys. The youngest one had to be only 11… maybe 12 and the other was 14 if I had to guess. I stare at them for a second before gasping and shaking my head.
The younger one frowns. "Hey are you all right." He says walking over and I stand up quickly causing my chair to fall back. No. I-it's not. It can't be. The boy is tall for his age, probably the size of Liz, he has dark brown, nearly black, hair that is constantly hanging in his eyes, he has simple glasses that frame his light blue eyes. Identical to mine.
I wouldn't recognize him. Except he is the slitting image of my father.
"Georgie," I breath and he sighs with relief.
"Cammie."
