Elena remained frozen as her gaze became fixed on the people in the room.

"Humans?" Elena cried out as she sat down, shaking from the sudden feelings…memories, washing over her.

"Yes, Elena, humans," Kayla gently knelt down next to her, "Humans just like you, who are suffering because of you."

There were a lot of people scattered around the room, bound in chains, strapped to beds…They were living in tragic conditions, however none of them seemed to notice Elena.

"They can't see you," Kayla explained, "I'm just showing you a vision."

"It's like I've been here before," Elena cried, "But I can't remember everything."

"Let me show you, then," Kayla said as she placed both hands on Elena's temple.

May 1st, 2013

"Please, mom just come and pick me up," Elena begged her over the phone. "I didn't want to come to this stupid party in the first place."

"Okay, honey. Just give us a few minutes and we'll be there."

"Thank you."

Elena jumped back and her eyes widened. "That's the night my parents died. The night I ended up in a coma for almost a year. What does this have to do with anything?"*

"The accident has everything to do with this, Elena," Kayla explained. "As you very well know, the night your parents picked you up, you crashed into Wickery's bridge and nearly drowned. Your parents died, but somehow you made it out of the car, only to remain in a coma for 11 months."

"I know that," Elena snapped.

"No, you don't. You believe that you woke up from the coma, talked to your friends for months and then one fine night you went to bed only to find yourself in the year 2510 the following day."

Elena literally started to shake. Her eyes widened in horror as she looked at Kayla, aghast. "That's what happened," She said, more to convince herself than Kayla.

"No," Kayla took a deep breath. "Elena, you never woke up from that coma."

"Claire?" Damon said the following morning with a yawn when Claire shook him a bit roughly, "What are you doing? Do you want to give me a headache?"

"Elena, Elena's gone," Claire exclaimed, "I searched everywhere for her but she's not here."

"What?" Damon cried out, forgetting everything he had just said and rushed around the area using his vampire speed, "Elena!"

"It's no use, Damon!" Claire cried out, "I'm surprised you didn't hear me yell!"

"ELENA!"

Elena was on her feet now, holding her head as the voices in her head heightened.

"Elena…"

"STOP!" Elena screamed, "Stop! You're CRAZY!"

"No, I'm not," Kayla insisted, "You never woke up from that coma, Elena. You are still in your bed in 2013, surrounded with your family by your bedside, praying that you'll wake up."

"What are you saying, that all of this is just a dream or a twisted fantasy I'm having while I'm supposedly in a coma?" Elena growled, "Are you out of your mind?"

"No, that's not what I'm saying," Kayla told her. "When you decide to calm down, I'll explain."

Elena took a deep breath.

"Good," Kayla encouraged. "Let me start from the beginning."

Elena stiffened.

"My friends and I are on your side, the human side. You can call us witches, but we are not. We are a hybrid mixture between travelers and witches, travelers meaning that we are a lot stronger than witches and can inhabit any person's body. Because of this, we can see the future."

Kayla cleared her throat. "Back in 2013, vampires were obviously a secret. There were some people who knew about them, but for the world vampires were just mythological creatures you'd find only in books or movies. I knew about the existence of the vampire, however I had been seeing a lot of visions about death and destruction for several months. After a lot of time passed, I saw you, your face, and I searched for you for months…observed you. As my visions worsened, I realized that you were going to be the reason that the human race was going to be extinct."

Elena felt like she was going to have a heart attack. She must have been dreaming all of this. This girl was insane if she could possibly blame the world's problems onto her. She was far from extraordinary or special, and some nutcase wasn't going to convince Elena otherwise.

"In my vision, I saw that you were going to fall in love with a vampire, with Damon. You believed that Damon loved you, but even though you did, he didn't. He was using you as a way to get closer to the family bloodline, your family, who were vampire hunters. You were a fool for love and you realized that when it was too late, when Damon brought an army of vampires in town and went on a murder rampage until everybody you knew was dead. Then, they kept killing everyone in the world until the idea of the human disappeared, except for the few that secretly survived. These…" Kayla said as she showed her the vision of the humans, "Are their ancestors. For years, they have been hidden but a few hundreds of years ago they were caught by Klaus. The thing is that Klaus thought that he had a blood formula to keep his vampires alive that did not involve human blood but soon, he realized that vampires were dying because the formula backfired. Since he thought that all humans were extinct, he was very certain that he had failed and that his precious vampire race was going to die. They started to feed off animals until Klaus caught these poor humans who have been hiding."

Kayla let the words sink in. "These humans are kept there, bound like animals so that they can be experimented on, tortured and raped so that the vampires can have their very powerful blood formula to survive. What do you think the blood Damon drinks consists of? And the blood little Claire likes so much? Innocent blood, Elena. Human blood-new flavours that were discovered because of the torture and experiments on the human race-your race. Why do you think that in a world where humans are extinct one still finds normal food? Klaus forced other vampires to start producing food so that these humans could be kept alive. Did you honestly think that in a world were humans were extinct, you'd find actual real food?"

Elena didn't have the strength to answer.

"When you were in a coma, I visited you in your, let's call it, 'dream'. I told you that I needed your help and in return, I'd convince my friends to help you wake up from your coma. The thing is, my friends were glad that you were in a comatose state, because by being in that capacity you couldn't ever meet Damon. However, I disagreed with them. You begged me to help you in your dream, and I told you that I could send you back with the condition that you'd travel back in the future and find, and arrange your mistake. I couldn't tell you what you had to do but you had to figure it out yourself. Only you betrayed us, Elena. You fell in love with Damon in this world as well, and to make it worse, you actually took your relationship to the next level, unlike 2013. You slept with Damon, Elena. Why did you think you started to feel sick? We had to punish you. When you made love to Damon, Damon was genuinely and selflessly happy. It was a selfless moment of happiness, which should've never happened. Your mission was to get rid of the vampire race. We brought you here to see what your choices ended up in," She looked at the humans scattered around, "To convince you to fix your mistake and help us kill the vampire race. But you repeated the same mistake over and over again, like others before you."

Kayla took Elena next to the tube. "We preserved a part of you in that tube. That tube is magical and is the thing that is keeping you alive and here. That tube helped us bring you here body and soul, and not just your soul. It is safe to say that right now, there are two bodies: One that is in 2013 on a hospital bed, and you right now. But when we turn off that tube after you've proven unsuccessful, you're dead. Both the 2013 and 2510 version. We cannot let you go back to 2013 when you didn't complete your task. All of this would end up happening, when if you decide to kill the vampire race, Damon included, you would never meet Damon and these people would just be living normally."

"Kill Damon?" Elena screamed, "Damon loves me! You're not even making sense! You are basing all of this on a vision? A vision!?"

"You're bewitched by him, Elena."

"So you're just going to kill me," Elena concluded, "Because I refuse to do this. How are you the good guys?"

"I'm sorry, Elena," Kayla told her as she looked at the tube, "But that tube expires in two weeks. If you do not start to work on your task, we'll be forced to let you die, as we won't extend your tube. When your time is nearly up, you'll continue to experience bleeds and pain."

"I didn't know what I was asked to do," Elena begged her, "How was I supposed to know?"

"You were supposed to open your mind and heart so that you could recognise your mistake as soon as you saw Damon. It wasn't a coincidence that he found you, Elena, out of all vampires. But things weren't supposed to go in this direction."

Kayla sighed. "You have two weeks, Elena. Two weeks."

Elena was forced back to consciousness and she found herself on the ground by that same tree that seemed to haunt her.

"There you are!" Damon screamed as he threw himself at her, kissing her madly. "Where were you? We were worried sick about you!"

"I'm sorry, Damon," Elena told him as she tried to find an excuse. She couldn't tell him, not when it would hurt him. "I think I was sleepwalking…I'm not s-sure…"

"Oh, Elena," Damon said as he pressed her tighter to him, "I don't know what I could possibly do to help you."

"Shh, just don't talk. Please hold me," She begged him. "Just hold me."

Damon sensed that something was making his Elena sad, but after he heard her beg him to just be silent and hold her, he didn't want to talk. Claire was watching them, now in silence also as Damon kissed Elena's head gently, whispering countless "I love you's" against her face.

Elena started to cry against his shoulder. She couldn't do this. She couldn't kill the vampire race, she couldn't hurt Damon. She thought about Claire, Elizabeth and the rest of the vampires who were already scared and hurt enough because of their fear from the werewolves. She couldn't put them through anymore pain. She had to die, she had to die so that they would all live. She couldn't be the one to extinct them all, even if it was to save herself and her human race. She thought about Jenna and Jeremy around her hospital bed, and about the things she had imagined…She had really thought that she had recovered from that coma, finally returning to her talks with Bonnie and having fun as she always had. But it had never happened; these were all crazy pictures in her mind because Kayla and the others had a possessive grip on her. They were keeping her alive and her life depended on them, but she couldn't do what was being asked of her. Even after she saw those humans bound and in pain.

"Why are you crying, Elena?" Damon asked her looking dead-worried.

This man was supposed to be the reason the human race was extinct. According to Kayla, she was going to meet Damon back in a few years after 2013, but he never really loved her. But wait, Damon didn't know that, because it hadn't happened yet. For Damon, Elena was a person he had just met a few months, or maybe just a bit over a year ago. He hadn't betrayed her. She was here so that their meeting would never happen, but the irony was that she met him and fell in love with him now, 500 years later. This had to be true love. Kayla was basing all of this on a vision she had in 2013. Damon would never betray her, even if it was in 2015. Damon loved her!

Elena couldn't take any of this anymore. She untangled herself from his grasp and ran until her heels methodically pounded against the earth below.

So now that a lot has been cleared up, what do you think? (:

Brief Summary: In 2013, Kayla had a vision of Elena falling in love with Damon, resulting in the human race becoming extinct. Because of this, Kayla and her team brought Elena to the year 2510 where she has to kill Damon so that what happened in, say like, 2015, COULDN'T happen. If Elena does klll Damon, what happened in kayla's vision can never happen, because Damon would be dead.

I am DESPERATE to hear your thoughts. Please review. Hope I didn't dissapoint-A lot more is coming.

IMPORTANT NOTE (3.2.2014) I was supposed to write this earlier but I somehow forgot. As many of you pointed out in reviews, currently this chapter is confusing as Elena cannot possibly kill Damon in the FUTURE as in 2015, he would still be alive. Well, all I can say right now is that I've put this in for a REASON. The story is not over yet.

I just wanted to clear that up.
