It seemed like a lifetime to Jack, but soon enough, he got back to the cafe with Doctor Stafford right behind him. As soon as they got inside, Elizabeth and Abigail had to do their best to hold Jack back long enough for Doctor Stafford to get upstairs. Jack finally calmed down a little, but he was still impatient.
Jack tried to wait as patiently as he could downstairs. He sat down, but then stood back up. He couldn't sit still, Jack was worried about Jaclyn. Jack paced the floor, hoping she would be alright.
Elizabeth was watching Jack, knowing he was nervous. She walked over to Jack and thought that talking to him might help.
"Jack…" Elizabeth said softly.
Jack stopped, he had heard Elizabeth's voice. "Yes…?" he asked.
Elizabeth put her hand on his shoulder, while gently rubbing it.
"Jack, everything will be alright, I promise…"
"But Elizabeth, I'm still worried…"
"I am too, Jack, but I'm here for you. I feel the same way you do right now."
Jack gave a small smile, he could tell Elizabeth was telling the truth.
It wasn't till almost midnight that Doctor Stafford came back downstairs. Jack had just sat down, but he jumped up as soon as he noticed Elizabeth and Abigail standing up.
"Well, Constable, I think that niece of yours is a lucky girl. She has a thick skull. She'll be alright. Might take a day or two of rest to get her back to her normal self, but she'll be alright. The reason I say she's lucky, is because with the size of the gash on the back of her head, you'd think that she'd have a worse concussion than she does!"
"How bad is it?"
"It's a mild concussion, but it is still there. I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't wake up for a few hours yet. You certainly took your time waking up after your little escapade, Constable." Doctor Stafford said with a wink.
"Well, thank you for what you've done for us. I'll be over immediately if something comes up." Jack said.
Immediately after the Doctor left, Jack was up the stairs and sitting right by Jaclyn. Elizabeth and Abigail both agreed that it would be best if Jack would spend the time at the cafe while Jaclyn was unconscious. Luckily for Jack, it didn't last too long.
As the day wore on, Jack paced the room more. He scarcely ate anything or had anything to drink. The clock finally rang out its proclamation that it was 4:00 in the afternoon. Jack got up and walked over to the bedroom window. As he was looking out, he saw something. It was just a smallest little speck, floating from the sky. It's crystalite figure was so small, that even the smallest breeze seemed that it could break it. What was it, you may ask? It was snow. The smallest little flake! It was then that Jack was really wishing that Jaclyn was awake. She would've wanted to be able to see the first snow fall. That was when he heard the littlest bit of movement coming from Jaclyn. He rushed over beside her, wondering if she would finally awaken.
Jack felt like he had been waiting for weeks for Jaclyn to wake up. He was getting more and more worried as time dragged on. Finally, he saw her eyelashes flutter like butterfly wings.
She slowly opened up her eyes, and looked at Jack, like he had to register in her mind.
"Hi Uncle Jack." she finally said.
"Hi Jaclyn…" Jack smiled gently, glad she was awake.
Jack gently bent over to give her a hug. Jaclyn quickly sat up enough so she could give him a hug.
Katherine: I'm glad Jaclyn's alright :) We hope you enjoyed this chapter :)
