A/N Hello... I'm sorry... I am terrible with my updates lately... just haven't had the inspiration to sit down at my desk and write on my laptop. Also a lot of personal stuff has been happening along with renovations on the way, a new baby (half brother or sister) and falling ill.

So that's my excuse

I own nothing

"They'll be here at ten," Paul said, sitting down next to me lazily.

I closed my eyes and let his body heat warm the chill from my bones. Outside, at night, in La Push was no summer retreat and for the past ten minutes as Paul had been making calls I had been trying my damnest not to become a human popsicle.

I nodded to him vaguely and my gaze fell on the phone in his grip. It was a wonder the thing was still working; before, when he had been talking to Sam and telling him what had happened, Paul's knuckles had been a bone white as though he had been clutching to the phone for dear life. Had it been any other object it would have shattered...

Paul's phone was probably a Nokia.

"Wait, who'll be here at ten?" I asked.

Paul chuckled, "People who will fix your windows," he said warmly, leaning to plant a soft kiss on my pouting lips.

"I knew that," I muttered, "Hey why aren't you doing it?" I demanded, last time he and Jake had fixed my windows they had done a better job than any contractor.

"The pack—including myself-are going to pay a visit to our beloved Cullen's," he said bitterly, his nose wrinkling in disgust.

"Wait, what? Are you talking about Dr. Cullen?" I asked him, shifting so I could face him fully.

He nodded, his eyes studying my face, "yeah that Cullen family,"

I frowned, "why?" I questioned.

He shot me a look before shock came over his features, "you don't know?" he asked, "oh shit, I forgot to tell you!" he blurted out, slight apprehension colouring his eyes.

I straightened up, "tell me what?"

He rubbed the back of his neck with a sheepish expression, "The uh, Cullen's," he said emphasising their name, "are... well leeches," he said slowly, studying me, gauging my reaction.

I blinked in shock but didn't move from my position, watching Paul as he was watching me. I finally looked away, allowing myself to deeply breath in before releasing it in an almost gasp like sound.

"Am I meant to have a response for that?" I asked, turning back to Paul, disbelief in my eyes.

Paul chuckled again, leaning forward to cup my cheek fondly, "your choice," he said with a small smile, "but you don't have to worry about 'Dr Cullen' coming into your bedroom and draining you dry," he soothed when my eyes widened with the unspoken question, "they're vegetarians."

I made a small noise, "define vegetarian?" I asked hopefully.

"Animals," he elaborated, leaning further in to brush his lips against my forehead.

I scoffed, "yummy," I sung sarcastically.

He wrinkled his nose, "whatever you say," he said with a cocked brow.

I sighed and turned to look and the first floor of our house, the windows blown out. It had been an accident... purely... well... accidental, I didn't mean to and I didn't want to it's just that blonde bitch made me so fucking angry...

"Want me to put tarp up until the contractors get here?" Paul asked a small frown on his face. I blinked when I realised he had been watching me, watching the emotions flash through my eyes.

I gave him a smile, "if you don't mind," I said back.

He stood before nodding and brushing himself off. He walked off into the direction of the garage and I watched him go until the darkness engulfed his body completely. I continued to breathe calmly, my eyes growing heavy as I fought to keep them open. I fought against the growing need to sleep and instead looked at the glass that was scattered over the concrete pavement. It glittered in the fading moonlight and captured my attention.

I watched the rough edges of the glass that was still in the pane glitter before I winced in guilt. As I had said... purely accidental, I didn't mean to and I don't even know how! I mean I suppose I threw something at it but I don't recall that... I just recall the vampire being thrown back a good few hundred metres until she disappeared from my sight.

The glass was merely an uh... side effect I suppose of the shockwave I had released.

I shook off my thoughts when I heard Paul lightly cursing under his breath. My head shot up and my eyes followed his movements as he scurried around the front of the house, dragging large sheets of blue plastic behind him. I let out an almost inaudible sigh before dropping my arms and falling ungracefully onto my back. My skull cracked against the pavement, making a small wince paint my features for a split second.

I ignored the small headache forming and instead looked up at the sky, the clouds being painted a light pink as the sun started to rise in the distance.

I smiled brightly, "thanks, I really appreciate it," I said to the faceless man, watching him walk off, the same stupid smile I had on my own face plastered on his.

I waited until he had started his truck before slamming the door and turning to lean against it heavily. I was exhausted. I had been up since blondies attack and hadn't slept in fear of something finding its way through the broken glass. Of course not much had made it through... a raccoon or two not to mention that damn squirrel.

I narrowed my eyes and rubbed the plaster covered gauges on my arms. Stupid wildlife. I sighed and walked into my house further, my eyes flicking to the clock for a split second as I searched for the time.

It was around lunch time... and my idiotic sister still wasn't home. I frowned in concern but shook it off, stumbling up the stairs in blind exhaustion. I went like clockwork, removing my clothes and increasing the volume on my phone in case she or one of the pack called me.

My head dropped to the pillow and I almost instantly fell asleep, with only one thought in my head.

Where the hell was Karla?

Jane flowed forward, her movements graceful as she hurried down the halls of Volterra, hurrying towards her leaders. No thoughts ran through her mind, only an objective, a goal she had to reach. If she didn't reach it, that meant failure. And failure meant she was not worthy of her title, of her place.

She didn't like failing.

A pale boy fell into step beside her, a stoic expression on his handsome features. She made no move to acknowledge the young man; her red eyes flitted to him but quickly went back to the ground in front of her.

They didn't need words, they were two pieces of the puzzle, and they would work together like a well oiled machine. They'd get a job done in seconds, using her gifts and his own. That was why Aro found them useful and albeit fascinating... Gifts were like blood to him. He craved it and needed it to survive day to day, decade to decade, century to century.

A large wooden door loomed ahead of her and she and her companion quickened their pace. She longed to enter the large space, longed to use her gifts on their latest prize. She longed to cause pain.

A blood lust coloured her eyes and she shamelessly let out a delighted purr once the doors opened. Now was the time for fun, a selfish joy she took in inflicting her gifts on others.

She smiled dangerously as she entered the room, hurrying over to Aro's side like the pet she was. She stood calmly, her brother taking up his spot at her side, loyal to the end as he had promised.

"Ah Jane, we were just talking about you," Aro chirped, his usual smile plastered on his thin lips.

Jane nodded in greeting but did not reply, knowing that the leader of the Volturi was not wanting her to speak. He was simply speaking to fill the silence, to calm the quivering mortal in front of him.

And quivering she was. A large trembling had taken over her tanned body, her wide eyes frightened and confused. But mostly frightened. Jane smiled largely, her pearly white teeth shining in the bright lights. The mortal saw the movement and she whimpered pathetically, the noise high pitched and whiny. In Jane's opinion.

Aro turned back to the human when his highly attuned ears caught the noise. For a moment he almost looked apologetic, but Jane and her coven mates knew better. He was everything but apologetic, after centuries of living and killing at his side she had learned the difference. She had learned what the expertly concealed glint in his milky red eyes meant.

"Miss Karson," he cooed, "why are you so frightened?" Aro mocked the same smile on his face.

The mortal—Karla Karson—gulped in a lungful of air; tear streaks stained her face as she fought for words. Jane schooled her expression, making sure not to show her distaste for the human weeping onto their marble floor. The human did not answer, her mouth opening and closing like a fish out of its element.

Pathetic.

"W—who are you?" the mortal stammered, hiccupping unattractively.

Aro gave her a soothing look, "I am Aro," he stated proudly, his statement making his followers in the room straighten out of habit.

The mortal looked around as she caught movement but Aro soon demanded her attention once again, "why am I-I here?" she asked pitifully.

Aro gave a warm chuckle before answering her, "because of your sister," he said, mocking the word sister.

The human frowned, "Drew?" she asked sniffing, "she's not even my real sister," she said quickly as if hoping that would get her out of trouble.

Aro just smiled back, his patience making Jane fidget in agitation, "oh I know child,"

The human—Karla—frowned and swallowed thickly, "then why... what did she do... why am I here?" she asked slowly.

Aro smiled, "believe it or not, your sister is proving a nuisance for me and mine," Aro said gently, only his eyes showing his frustration.

"How?" Karla asked, her curiosity shining through the fear, only barely.

"She doesn't want to listen to reason child," Aro soothed once again, "we only want her to join our family but she is refusing in the most impolite ways," Aro chimed, his bell like voice calming the mortal and making her almost putty in his hands.

"Why would you want her?" the mortal asked, her fear almost gone being replaced by jealously.

Pity human.

"Because of her blood father," Aro stated.

"Who was he?"

"Lucifer,"

After the statement from the red eyed man the human became frightened again, her eyes flitting around to every unmoving person in the room. Flitting to the doors before back to the ground in front of her kneeling form.

"Who?" she whispered, the fear making it no more than a whimper.

"Lucifer," Aro said once again.

His voice had lost the playful edge and was now all business, flat but enticing all at once. He stalked forward like a predator, intent on the human in front of him as his two brothers watched sullenly in the background.

"You are going to bring Drew here," Aro said dangerously before shooting the weeping human a blood curdling smile.

"But what if she doesn't come?" Karla whined, making basically all those in the room refrain from rolling their eyes.

"Then it will be your life I take instead," Aro said sweetly. His tone of voice made the threat set in more for the human and she began to wail loudly.

She began to rock on her knees slightly, her eyes unfocused as her gaze flicked around the room quickly. She whimpered under her breath muttering words like 'dream' and 'not real.'

If only she knew.

Jane lost her patience and let out a small clear sigh before turning to look at Aro with a bored expression. Aro turned to her and walked forward gracefully, reaching out to cup her hand almost fatherly.

He hummed as he read Jane's thoughts and memories before nodding and placating her, "all right my dear," he said reaching up to cup Jane's cheek, "make her see things our way," he told her before walking over to his throne to sit down almost wearily.

Jane smiled and walked forward until she was only a few feet away from the sniffling mortal. She waited until the human looked up into her blood red eyes that had darkened to a black in her thirst.

Another small whimper escaped the human's mouth as Jane's chiming voice echoed through the large hall she and the others spent most of their time in.

"This may hurt a bit,"

I hope you liked it, we're really getting into the action now!
