Chapter 25: Help From The Freedom Fighters

A few minutes later, Sally walked in. She had grown worried for Mecha Sonic and had gone looking for him. When she stumbled upon the roboticized hedgehog in the floor, oil surrounding his body, eyes dim. She knew something bad had happened. Her eyes then traveled to the room he had been in and she covered her mouth in horror. The bodies if Robotnik and Snively lay in the room. Snively's was slumped against the control panel and Robotnik's was slumped in his chair, blood coated their bodies. Sally's eyes turned back to Sonic and she bent down to him with tears in her eyes.

"What happened, Sonic?" She asked, continuing to cry. The cyborg looked at the bodies of Robotnik and Snively, wondering who would do something like this. She touched his cheek, but the roboticized hedgehog didn't respond. Sally put a hand to her mouth as her tears fell down her cheeks and she hung her head. "What am I going to do?" She asked herself. "I need to get help."

She tried to pick him up, but even with her enhanced strength as a cyborg, she couldn't. The robot was too heavy. She could just leave him here. She had to find somewhere with enough strength to carry Sonic to safe place where they could repair him and stop whoever did this. Bunnie was like her, but her roboticized limbs gave her extra strength that didn't mean she couldn't lift the hedgehog. She'd have to get Uncle Chuck. Sally nodded, and ran off towards the loading bay. When she got there, Uncle Chuck looked at her.

"Sir Charles, I need your help," Sally told him. "It's Mecha Sonic."

"What about him?" Chuck asked.

"I...I was worried, and went looking for him. When I found him...he was on the floor, wounded. Oil was spilling out of his chest. But that's not all...I found Robotnik and Snively...they're dead."

Uncle Chuck's optics widened at this. Who could've killed Robotnik and Snively? And Sonic...who could've wounded him like that without Sonic retaliating. Uncle Chuck though about it and then his eyes widened. The only one that Sonic wouldn't attack would be Tails and since he's roboticized, the fox could harm the Freedom Fighters, but did that mean he did that to Sonic? He sped through the base as Sally followed. They soon came to the room where Sally had found Sonic, and Chuck gasped. he scanned the room, and looked at Sally.

"Who could have done this?"

Sally shrugged. Uncle Chuck's theory came back to him as he looked Sonic over and then looked into the room with the dead Robotnik and Snively. Since Tails doesn't have his free will...does mean he could get a will against Robotnik?

His optics widened in shock and he nodded. "I think Mecha Tails did this," he said.

Sally looked at Uncle Chuck in shock. How could she believe that? She always thought that Robians had the order to obey Robotnik, not get a will of their own to kill him. And what does Sonic have to do in this mess?

"I don't believe that," she said. "Mecha Tails would never try and kill Sonic."

Uncle Chuck couldn't believe it either, but it was the only lead they had as Mecha Tails is always in Robotnik's control room along with Sonic and since Sonic is wounded and Mecha Tails is nowhere to be seen it was the most they have.

"It's the best lead we have," he said as he picked Mecha Sonic up. "Come on; let's get him somewhere safe."

Sally nodded. They walked out of the room, but froze when they saw Mecha Tails walking towards them with Swatbots behind him. Uncle looked around and then saw a vent and pointed at it. Sally nodded and took it off its hinges. As Sally's strength as cyborg is enough to take doors off and lift light metal up like Bunnie's, but not heavy metal like Mecha Sonic. Once she ripped the vent off, Sally crawled in along with Uncle Chuck carrying Sonic and crawled in until they heard the voices of Mecha Tails and the SWATbots.

"Get them!" They heard Mecha Tails say as he ordered the Swatbots. "Don't let them escape! I want them killed!"

Sally's eyes widened when she heard that and looked back at Uncle Chuck and he had the same expression as her as they continued to crawl away from the vent they had come from. Once they got to the vent that led to the outside, Sally kicked it out and jumped out along with Uncle Chuck, still holding Sonic. They hurried to rendezvous point where Bunnie and Rotor still were to tell them the bad news and then find a safe place to repair Sonic.

"Where can we go?" Sally asked him.

Uncle Chuck looked at her. "My lair would be a safe place for the moment."

Sally nodded and they ran up to Rotor and Bunnie.

Bunnie looked at them as Rotor continued watching for SWATbots. Once the rabbit saw Sonic she gasped, covering her mouth in shock. "Oh mah stars! What happened to him?"

Rotor glanced at them from SWATbot watching and gasped before turning back to watch.

"No time to explain; we need to get out of here," Sally said.

Bunnie nodded with hesitance and Rotor turned around from hearing that. "So, where do we go?" he asked.

"Follow me," Chuck said.

He ran off as the others followed him, having a good idea where they were going. Uncle Chuck ran to the junk pile in the junk yard part of Robotropolis and knocked on the pipe three times with a brick before going inside.

"Come on," he said, and led them inside. Once they were in, Chuck put the deactivated Mecha Sonic on a table. Rotor and Bunnie looked at them.

"What happened to him? He was fahn last time we saw him," Bunnie said, gesturing to the deactivated Mecha Sonic.

"It was Mecha Tails," Uncle Chuck told them. "I believe that he killed Robotnik and Snively, then wounded Mecha Sonic. Why, though, we don't know. On the way here, we heard Mecha Tails say that he wants us dead."

Bunnie gasped and covered her mouth in shock while Rotor just stared with an open mouth. "Mah stars. Why? The poor boy. When he's deroboticized he'll...ah can't even imagine how he'll feel."

"We don't know. I believe that Mecha Tails gained a will against Robotnik."

Rotor kept his shocked expression and finally spoke, "How? I thought that most roboticized people only had the order to obey Robotnik from the program in the roboticizer and not get a will of their own?"

"I don't know," the robot said.

Rotor looked to Sonic and sighed. "I guess we'll have to try and repair him if we stand any chance of stopping Mecha Tails."

"That won't be easy," Chuck told him, looking at Mecha Sonic's wound. "His wound goes deep into his internal systems. It's possible that he will die."

Sally, Bunnie and Rotor widened their eyes and looked at the injury too. "There has to be something we can do, Sugah-Chuck!?"

"I don't think there is. His wound is too deep. We could put him into statis, though, so he won't die."

"Is there still a way to repair him?" Rotor asked.

Uncle Chuck looked at his nephew and examined the wound. He frowned when he saw that Sonic's internal systems were badly damaged, and looked at Rotor. "I...I don't know. Mecha Tails really did a number on him."

Sally could feel the tears come back into her eyes and Bunnie looked at her friend before hugging her to comfort her.

"I don't want Sonic to die," Sally said.

Bunnie kept Sally in her, making sure she was comforting her. "Ah know Sally-girl. We don't want to."

Sally sighed and sniffed, then broke the hug and looked at Rotor and Uncle Chuck. "What should we do?" She asked them.

"Well, we should probably do what Uncle Chuck said and put him into stasis do he doesn't get worse and then start repairing him," Rotor explained.

"Do you have a statis pod here?" Sally asked Uncle Chuck, who nodded.

"I do," he said.

Uncle Chuck lifted Sonic off the table and took him over to the stasis pod. Sally followed and pressed the open button for him as Uncle Chuck lay Sonic inside. He closed the pod and turned it on, freezing Sonic. Uncle Chuck gave a sigh of relief and looked at Sally and the others.

"How will you repair him if he's in stasis?" Bunnie asked as she looked at the roboticized hedgehog in worry.

"We'll wait until he's ready to be repaired," Chuck said.

Rotor looked to Uncle Chuck, confused by this. "What do you mean? And how long could that possibly be?"

"I don't know."

Rotor sighed at this as he looked at Sonic inside the stasis tube. He hoped they could fix him and stop Mecha Tails.
