Prompt: Same
Words: 671
POV: Christian
I looked up, staring across the kitchen at Dimitri while I finished putting the last touches on a dinner I was preparing for all of us. He'd been my official guardian for just about a week and I was still trying to get him to open up and relax around me.
He often stood silently against the walls, following me like an ever present shadow. It was driving me nuts.
Slamming the oven door shut I reached into the cabinet beside the sink (where I stored my shot glasses), took two out, then strolled over to the liquor cabinet Dimitri was standing beside.
Wordlessly, I took out a bottle of vodka and stalked back over to the shot glasses. I filled them both to the point that I wasn't sure if I could walk without spilling them.
"Guardian Belikov, care to give me a hand?"
Dimitri walked over, puzzled at the glasses beside me. I picked one up, careful not to spill a drop, and handed it to him.
"Lord Ozera..."
"Christian," I corrected.
"Christian, what do you want me to do with this?"
"Drink it," I paused, "I don't know how else to get you to loosen up. Figured alcohol usually works on almost anyone."
He raised a single eyebrow and sniffed the glass, "This stuff is strong. How'd you even manage to get your hands on it?"
"When your girlfriend's the Queen, people just give this stuff to you," I smirked, took a seat at the kitchen island and motioned for Dimitri to do the same. "Age laws don't apply anymore, and you know, no one seems to acknowledge what my parents did either. Well, not to my face anyway; perks of the title I guess." I held my shot glass up, tilting it towards him before gulping it down.
He just stared down at his still full glass, "I don't think it's appropriate for me to drink while on duty." He slid the shot glass back towards me and I just shrugged.
"Suit yourself, but it's time we laid down some ground rules. First, you need to loosen up. I may be your charge formally, but I refuse to have you just standing silently in the background. It's creepy, I feel like I'm being stalked-"
He gave me a half smile, "Noted. What else would you like me to know?"
"Unless we're at some snobby royal function, please just call me Christian. No one even acknowledged that I was a royal until I got with Lissa. I'd like to keep it that way."
The timer on the oven went off, and I got up to take the food out. Dimitri went to rise with me but I shooed him back down.
"You don't have to get up with me," I placed the hot tray on the stove top, cutting two small pieces off and putting them on a plate. "Last time I checked, you could still keep an eye on me while you're sitting," I added with a smirk.
After taking a piece for myself, I slid the plate towards him.
"Is this the meatloaf Rose is always raving about?"
I nodded, watching him slowly chew the piece in front of him.
"Wow, this stuff is really amazing," He looked pleasantly surprised.
Just then we heard the door open and Dimitri went rigid. So much for any progress I'd just made. When we heard Rose and Lissa's voices though, he calmed down- a little.
Lissa headed straight towards me, pausing to give me a quick kiss. Rose apparently did the same with Dimitri before going rigid in the seat next to him. Even healing, and not officially on active duty, Rose was still on guard. They both looked like they could pounce at any second.
Lissa was in my arms, facing them, when's he slid Dimitri's still full shot towards Rose.
Rose grinned but shook her head, "I don't drink this stuff anymore. Especially around you."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes, "You two are the same..."
