Me again.
So, I loved this story, I loved writing it, I loved the variation of Sam and Gabe that I ended up writing here. To be honest, I think it's kind of why I stopped writing fanfic. Like, this is it, this is the best AU I'm ever gonna write. So I haven't updated any stories pretty much since I finished Hit The Couch, which was the Dean/Cas parallel to this story.
But.
This plot would not leave me alone. If only I'd rewritten this, or fixed that, or if I'd had that conversation end differently.
So, after some thought, and following the fine example set by Me and Mine author Sarah Goodwin (the most talented person I have ever met)…
In a couple of weeks I will be starting the final draft of the original novel based on this story, with the working title of "Set-Up Punch". It has completely original characters, extended scenes, better description, more dialogue and a different ending, but (this is just my opinion, and hopefully you'll agree) all the humour, colour, joy and grief of the story.
Also, Murdock has remained pretty much untouched, because you can't improve on perfection.
If all goes well, the rest of the drafting should take a month or two, and then it should be available as an ebook. I'm hoping to put it up through the amazon kindle store, but the account stuff looks complicated and I have been known to literally trip over my own feet, so my general incompetence might hinder it. Announcement of publication will appear here, when it happens, but I just wanted to let everyone know to watch this space. It will be published under my real name, Vikkie Moule.
