Hey people thanks for the reviews nd I hope you like the next chapter. Since i am sick at home there might be a few more quick chapters. But no promises. Enjoy

Chase checked the coffees in her hand and sighed. She was happy that Gina had woken up but she really wanted to spend some alone time with Olivia. And that makes you big ole ass. Chase knocked softly on the door before sticking her head into Gina and Terry's room. 'Ahh I see you stood me up for hotter chicks Detective.' Chase said softly as greeting startling Olivia and Terry somewhat.

Olivia rolled her eyes. 'Well you know me. Gotta go where the prettiest girls are. And that my dear isn't you.'

Chase put on a fake hurt face and pouted. 'Straight to the heart baby, straight to the heart. Why you gotta be so mean?'

That did it Olivia started laughing. She got up and grabbed a coffee before turning back to a staring Terry. 'Oh don't mind her, she is harmless I promise.'

Terry looked at the interaction between the two, there was definitely something going on there. Even in her state she knew flirting when she saw it. 'Good morning detective.'

'Morning Captain.' Chase smiled kindly then quickly glanced around before handing Terry a cup of coffee. 'Not sure if you are allowed yet...but I figured you could use one, and this is the best around.'

'Oh you are a god sent.' Terry gratefully took the cup and sipped greedily. Her eyes closed as the taste hit her. She always loved that first taste in the morning. Gina always teased her about that.

'See someone that appreciates me!' Chase teased sipping her own cup. 'I hear Gina woke up briefly?' Chase enjoyed the spark of happiness that caused Terry. 'It's a very good sign. She'll probably be in and out for a few days before she's really conscious.'

'That's what the doctors told me.' Terry nodded glancing over at Gina who was sleeping, and even though she was beat up to all hell she looked utterly peaceful. 'You sound just like them.'

'She should.' Olivia said easily as looked through the bag of food Chase had also brought. 'Ms Genius is one of them.'

'Really?' Terry asked a little confused.

'In a prior life.' Chase waved Terry off. 'But really it looks really good Terry.'

Well that explains nothing. 'Thank you.' Terry said after a moment then went back to observing the two detectives. She wondered if the two detectives had already figured it out or not. 'Do you have any leads?'

Olivia nodded her head slowly. 'We have a few, but nothing worth mentioning.'

'Nothing you can tell me.' Terry filled in. She knew how it went after all.

Olivia nodded, she really liked Terry. The woman was smart and she was strong. She would go places of that Olivia had not doubt. 'We will tell you all we can. But for now just know that we are making progress.'

'Tell me we got something?' Liv walked into the bullpen making her way to Fin's desk.

Fin pushed back from the desk and grinned. 'You know it. I got you all the address for one Alice Kenny, formerly Merlock. And Captain Fitch's laptop is gold. I think Cabot nearly peed herself with glee. Most of it is in short hand though so she is trying to get that sorted.'

'That's what I like to hear!' Olivia checked her messages. 'Anything else?'

'Yea Cabot wants you to give her a call asap.' Fin looked up at Liv winking at her. 'Seems to me she is a little peeved with you. What did you do?'

Sighing Liv shrugged, she was sure she did actually know what it was about, but that didn't mean that she wanted to share that with everyone. Better get there and let her scream at me in person. 'We'll swing by there on our way.

Chase arched her eyebrow. She was sure that Olivia had said they should first see what they had and see if any of their leads were panning out. 'Now?'

'Yip, let's go.'

Chase gave Fin a questioning glance and only received a shrug.

'Don't look at me girly. This is their thing. Those two work on a holy different level then us mere mortals. They have Liv and Lex short hand for everything. You'll get used to it.' Fin explained his own theory.

'Ok...Well better get going before I get left behind.' Chase grabbed the jacket she had just removed and ran after Olivia. The woman's moods change on the drop of a hat! 'Hold up, jeez woman are we running there?'

Olivia slowed then blushed a little, she had totally forgotten Chase. She was still so used to Elliot. And she was always the one playing catch to him. 'Sorry, it's just her royal highness does not like to be kept waiting.'

Chase blinked. Olivia and Alex were friends. 'Uh...what?'

'Oh don't worry, I'm just teasing...well somewhat. Alex is a little ticked off at me I would hazard. So the sooner I get to her the sooner my lecture will be over and we can get to work.' Olivia said easily as the climbed into the car.

'What did you do?' Chase asked, Alex was obviously a good friend to Olivia, she was just still trying to order just how close.

Olivia pouted, why did Chase immediately think that she did something. 'Fine!' She finally said when the pout didn't work on Chase. 'I might have mouthed of to her some. And then hung up on her and ignored her calls.'

Chase grimaced. Well she didn't have to know Alex well to know that that was a big no no. 'You are so going to get it Benson.'

'As if I don't know that!' Liv grumbled, really she had no idea hat she had been thinking. 'She really hates it when I hang up on her.'

'Well then detective lets go so you can eat some crow!' Chase said just a tad to upbeat. The smack on her arm was therefore a surprise. 'Hey don't beat on me! I can totally arrest you!'

'Oh stop being a baby.' Olivia snorted, she felt better. How interesting.

'Hey Casey do you have a moment?' Alex stuck her head into Casey's office.

Casey glanced up from her work and nodded gratefully. 'Yes! I swear I was reading the same sentence ten times and I still don't know what it's about.'

Alex snorted, she knew exactly what Casey meant. Sometimes you just couldn't stare at the files any longer. 'Well I am not so sure you'll be thanking me in a minute.'

Casey followed Alex to where she had set up most of the Fitch Case. 'Holy moly, they really don't want us to look into this, do they?'

'That is how it would seem.' Alex nodded then sat down at the desk motioning to the laptop. 'I am not a slouch when it comes to computers, but it would seem Captain Fitch, though meticulous has a short hand. I can't make heads or tails of most of it. I was wondering if you could take a look.'

'Ahh so big buff and in the closet told you about my hobby.' Casey rolled her eyes. She had always been fascinated by codes and puzzles.

'Liv will kill you if she hears you talk like that.' Alex admonished lightly. Casey thought that Liv and her were being completely paranoid about not coming out. She herself had been out and proud as Bi for years.

'Well the shoe fits. Anyway...' Casey dropped it when Alex gave her the look. That look that was a universal fuck off. 'I'll take a look ,but I can't promise you anything. Your best bet would probably be to talk to the Captain.'

Alex nodded, and sighed in relief. She and Casey worked really well together, but boy did they see the world through different glasses. 'Thank you. I just really wanted to keep her out of it. To let her focus on what was important.'

'Well I'll give it a go.' Casey nodded, that sounded just about right. 'How is Abbie, I saw her sneak in here the other day?'

Alex bit her lip softly. Oh what the hell. She won't out you, she has proven that. And you are friends whether you like to admit it or not. 'Well she's great actually, and...she is finally coming back.'

'Oh man Alex I am so happy for you two! It's about bloody time if you ask me. You two were a match made in heaven.' Casey grinned, really pleased. Annie and Alex just always fit. And she hoped them nothing but happiness. 'So does that mean the doors of your own little closet are creaking open?'

'Really?' Alex growled, you just never could get Casey to back off even a little. 'I am not talking to you about this...again!'

'Fine, fine.' Casey shrugged then grinned. 'Well at least I'll be able to talk about this. It's a simple form of shorthand. I should be able to decipher this easily, with a bit of time.'

'Thank you, I'll make sure to clear your docket for you if you do this.' Alex said getting a nod from Casey. 'Talking about closets, and not mine! What skeleton is in yours at the moment. Still seeing Garry what's his name?'

Casey shook her head. 'Eww, no he was a total perv! Plus he was ages ago. No at the moment I am seeing the very delectable Jenny from the coffee stand outside.'

'Oh god! Please not her, I like the coffee at that stand! And you are bound to ruin that for me too!'

'I so will not!'

'You did my favourite sandwich place! I still can't go in there thanks to you.' Alex argued loudly. Casey's way to blow of steam sometimes really got her in hot water.

'That was not my fault.' Casey argued back.

'You dated two waitresses from there...at the same time...and they were related!' Alex hissed, she had never been so mortified as when one of the girls had dumped a glass of red wine over her accusing her off being Casey's newest fling.

'Oh.' Casey blushed brightly. So maybe that had not been her best moment. 'Ok so that might have been my fault.'

'Might have?'

'Hey I apologized and I even paid for your dry-cleaning! That shit is not cheap.' Casey grumbled the last part. 'And for your information I have grown out of that stage of my life.'

'That was two weeks ago!' Alex threw her hands in the air. Casey was frustrating to the point where sometimes Alex wanted to wring her neck.

'This a bad time. I can come back.' Olivia said from the door where she and chase had been for a while, just watching. And now Olivia had to really try not to laugh or Alex would get even more pissed of with her.

'Yes, and hell no!' Alex growled at Liv. 'You know what Casey is doing? No? She is ruining the only decent coffee we have that isn't twenty blocks away because she can't keep it in her pants!'

'Jenny? Seriously Casey?' Olivia grumbled. 'Couldn't you skip her. She makes a really good cup of coffee.'

'Hey! I am not a slut and why do you two always assume I am the one who messes up.' Casey defended herself.

'The evidence, that's why.' Alex grumbled, now not sure whether she should glare at Casey or Liv.

'I am not that bad.'

'Yes you are.' Both Liv and Alex retorted.

Alex rubbed the arch of her nose, this was going to be a long day, she just knew it. 'If you mess up my morning coffee Novak so help me god they will never find your body. Now you my office right now. And you slim meet the other ADA from SVU. Chat get to know each other and stay out of reach of her horrible charm!'

Chase blinked at a complete loss for what she was supposed to do. She was starting to think that would happen a lot. 'I guess I'll just introduce myself.'

Casey arched an eyebrow. Meow! And I thought it was only Liv that got me going. Lord this one is yummy. 'So you are the new detective?'

'That would be me.' Chase eyed Casey then groaned. 'No, just no.'

'What?' Casey asked completely confused.

Chase shook her head a little amused, but it would simply never happen. 'Don't even try Councillor. I am very much taken, and my other half is very good with a gun.'

Casey actually had the grace to blush, oh but how she had underestimated this woman. That only made her want her more. 'I didn't say anything.'

Chase chuckled. 'But you so were going to. Really save it I am very happy in my current relationship. And I do not want any trouble.'

'Autsch. You don't even know what I have to offer.' Casey persisted, not used to being denied.

'Really nothing I want. I am sure you are a great woman and that we will probably become good friends, but the hitting on me? That stops now or we will have a big problem.' Chase said friendly enough, but firm enough that Casey knew she meant business.

Casey eyed then finally relented. She had to work with the woman after all. 'Fair enough, but if you ever want to have some fun you know where to find me.'

'Detective Kimbel it's nice to meet you.' Chase held out her hand.

Casey took the hand and was surprised how firm yet gentle the shake was. 'ADA Novak at your service.'

Alex closed the door then started pacing. 'I should be furious with you, you know that?'

'Yes.' Liv said softly, she knew that what she had done was small and petty. Just because she had a bad day. Or rather bad hour.

'I was up most of the night worrying and trying to figure out how to make it better. And then you waltz in here and it is obvious that there is nothing to fix. I am furious!' Alex stopped right in front of Olivia poking her in the chest. 'I am not your punching bag, and I will not stand for it.'

'Got it, and can I just say I'm sorry?' Olivia said remorsefully.

Alex sighed. 'You owe Abbie as well. So call her. Now what do you have for me?'

Olivia blinked she had expected more. 'Uhm ok I'll do that.'

'Oh don't look at me like that. Abbie talked me down. You owe her.' Alex motioned for Olivia to answer her other question.

I owe her a steak and a bottle of Jack more like. 'If I didn't think you would skin me alive I would kiss the woman right about now.' Olivia teased, relieved when Alex rolled her eyes. 'And we are checking out the good Admiral. We are visiting the daughter.'

'Do you think he might be involved?' Alex asked heading to her desk for a writing block to make some notes.

Olivia shook her head. 'Well according to Chase's mother, and she knows that base like the back of her hand, he is a homophobic ass, but he is to much of a tight ass to get into something like this. But just to make sure we are going to talk to his daughter.'

'You really think she'll be able to give you an unbiased answer?' Alex frowned, in her experience family always lied for loved ones.

'Oh no, not at all. But since they don't get long at all, she would more than likely paint him in worse light than collogues.' Olivia shrugged. 'How's it going with Terry's laptop?'

'Terry huh?' Alex's hand stilled. Weren't you the one that told me to get personally involved was a bad idea?

'I know, I know. But hell Alex they have no one. No one from the base has visited or checked after them.' Olivia scratched the back of her neck, she knew exactly what Alex was asking. 'If it becomes a problem I will recuse myself from the case.'

Alex nodded, more than happy with her answer, for now. 'As for the laptop, Casey is supposed to be decoding it, but I am guessing Chase is getting best Novak has to offer.'

'Oh she is so barking up the wrong tree there.' Olivia grinned.

'As if that has ever stopped Casey. I swear she needs a handler.' Alex scoffed good naturedly.

Olivia shook her head. 'Nah, she just needs to get over her fear of getting hurt. And she will when she's ready.'

'I guess, but seriously did she have to go for the one coffee cart that makes decent coffee?' Alex moaned as they headed back to where Chase and Casey were chatting.

Chase stood back and let Olivia take the lead. It was eary, but the woman that opened the door, she looked so much like her mother. Or at least the photos her mother still had of Madeline Merlock.

'Are you Alice Kenny?' Olivia asked.

'Yes, how can I help you?' Alice asked softly eyeing the women. Obviously police. She saw cops often enough in her line of work.

'I'm Detective Benson and this is my partner detective Kimbel.' Olivia motioned to Chase who was unusually quiet, but she figure it was because chase knew Alice.

Alice opened the door a little further taking a hard look at Chase the snorted loudly. 'Well well didn't you grow up god. Chase Kimbel as I live and breathe.'

Chase was startled when Alice pulled her into a bear hug. 'Heya Ally, it's been a while.'

Alice let go of Chase and laughed. 'I guess it has. It is good to see you though.' She gave chase the once over. 'Sorry where are my manners, come on in.'

Olivia rolled her eyes. Seemed that Chase really did leave an impression on the woman. 'Thank you Ms. Kenny.'

'Please call me Alice detective.' Alice ushered them to the kitchen and started a pot of coffee.' Alice knew that what kept nurses going was also what kept cos going. 'Do you take sugar and milk?' Olivia nodded as did Chase. Alice made them each a cup then sat down at the table. 'I thought you were a big shot doc?'

'Didn't quite work out, so now I'm a detective.' Chase said easily, she got that a lot from people who knew her.

Alice nodded taking the statement at face value. 'And I am guessing you aren't here to catch up on old times?' Alice said rubbing her stomach absently.

'Not exactly, no.' Chase said uncomfortably. Now that they were there seeing Alice so happy and so very pregnant she hated to bring up her past.

Alice sat back and sighed. 'Ah, your mother told you then?'

'Yes, I am sorry.' Chase said then stopped at a loss for words.

Olivia could see how hard it was for Chase. I guess I'll be doing the questioning on this one. 'We don't mean to upset you, but we do have a few questions about your father.'

'Ahh the good old Admiral. Well I am terribly sorry detective you wasted your time. I have no contact with him, I haven't seen or spoken to him in years. And frankly I don't ever want to. He put me through hell.' Alice glared at Olivia trying to get up, but it was becoming a chore, eight months pregnant people didn't move as fast as they wanted to.

Chase got up extending her hand. 'Ally, we really don't mean to bring up bad memories. But two very nice women were assaulted. They are both in the service, it's bad and we need to know whether we can trust your father.'

Alice froze. 'That's a low blow Chase.'

'I know it is. But we really do need your help Ally.' Chase said as she sat down again.

'Fine. But nothing of this gets back to him. I have worked very hard to disappear.'

'Of course.' Chase said gratefully.

Olivia tapped her fingers on the steering wheel. 'Well that was informative.'

'Oh yes, makes me want to cosy on right up to the good ole Admiral. And then beat the shit out of him!' Chase growled angrily. She felt like a complete heel for making Alice relive all that.

'I agree.' Olivia sighed, sometimes it sucked to have to work with someone you utterly despised. 'But as much as we want to we can't.'

'I know, which only pisses me off more.' Chase crossed her arms. 'I wish we hadn't done that to her.'

'Chase that's the job. Sometimes it just plain sucks.' Olivia said softly.
