25. Trouble Lurking

Brushing his orange-toned hair behind his shoulder, Ren allowed his flirty smile to tilt his lips in a greeting as he wrapped a long, lean arm around Haruka. Pale, golden eyes glanced up at him shyly before a dark red blush splashed across her cheeks. "Hello, Little Lamb." Leaning in, he brushed a kiss across her cheek before pulling at the music book cradled in her arms. "What are you working on?"

Holding it out of her reach as she attempted to jump at it, Ren failed to notice Haruka's new friend jump up behind him and snatch the book from his large hands. "Hey-" surprised by the item being pulled out of hand, he turned to give the newcomer a glare.

He stopped short.

Ren's arms fell to his sides and he completely ignored Haruka as his pale blue eyes settled on the black-haired girl in front of him. He felt lost for words. 'She...she's...beautiful.' After that thought, Ren felt an uncharacteristical blush cover his face. His mouth remained open as he stared, transfixed by the glossy, blue-black hair and the deep, sapphire eyes.

Haruka, oblivious to the spark igniting between her two friends, stepped in front of Ren and snapped her fingers. "Jinguji-san, this is Kagome-chan. She is from Tokyo and is my very old childhood friend." Turning to face said childhood friend, Haruka began to speak once again, "Kagome-chan, this is Jinguji Ren, he is from STARISH." Hearing someone suddenly call her, golden eyes turned to gaze at her boyfriend, Tokiya. He was leaning casually against the fountain in the middle of the courtyard before waving slightly. "Sorry for the brief introductions, but Tokiya-kun calls. Ren-san, will you take Kagome-chan on a tour, please?"

The awestruck, tall teen nodded absentmindedly. He didn't turn to watch as she ran off towards her boyfriend. "Kagome-chan-"

"Just Kagome, please."

Ren felt a shiver travel down his spine at the sheer sexiness of her voice. "Kagome, please call me Ren. Would you like to accompany me on a tour of the school?" Kagome hesitated as Ren offered his arm to her, but she shook her head and he slowly pulled his arm back to his side.

Awkwardly, he scratched the back of his head, another thing he'd never done before, and began leading her on the path out of the courtyard. "So, what instrument do you play? Or do you sing?" Once again, Ren flicked his hair behind his shoulder and gasped as he felt his hair pull taut, the strand captured in his rings. Accidentally, he yelped out loud and attempted to pull his hand away, only for his scalp to be yanked.

Panicking, Ren's eyes skittered around the courtyard. He stopped yanking as he suddenly felt a soft palm on top of his one; it was currently entangled in his hair.

Carefully, Kagome picked his fingers up, making sure they weren't too far from his head in order to cause him more pain. Having to tip-toe, she quietly asked Ren to sit down on the conveniently placed bench off to the side of the path. Releasing him, Kagome waited for him to sit down before she began sliding his rings of his long, elegant fingers.

"I play the viola." Not expecting her to talk, Ren's pale eyes met her own gaze and he felt himself blush before looking away. Quickly, Kagome expertly removed his silky, golden hair from the rings he wore before sitting beside him, a smile on her beautiful, cherubic face. "I used to sing, but-" she deliberately paused, "um, I liked to play much more." He smiled, albeit awkwardly, before he wrapped his tangle-free hand around the rim of the stone bench.

"I play the saxophone, mainly, but a little bit of piano here and there."

"You must be good with your fingers, then." Realising what she had just said, she flustered and began to babble pathetic apologies.

"Expert, actually." Ren winked at her for good measure. 'It's the first flirty thing I've said…' "Do you wanna go straight to class? I think I have had enough public embarrassment for one day. How about a tour tomorrow, instead?" Her ethereal smile greeted him and he felt his heart skip a beat at it.

Allowing a gust of wind to pass through her hair, Kagome turned to face the courtyard. "I'd like that. I'm in the S-class."

"Me too!" Grabbing her small, delicate hand, Ren pulled her from the bench and began walking rapidly to class just as the bell rang.

Over in the corner, there were three girls watching closely. Different coloured gazes stared at Kagome's back in jealousy. "Well, what do we have here?" Trouble was definitely on its way.

Here is the next chapter! Love Ren, he is my favourite out of the anime. More of the STARISH boys will be making an appearance, though!
